Ludwigslust Castle is a baroque highlight of Mecklenburg's history and culture, enchanting visitors with its magnificent setting, surrounded by an English park with numerous avenues, canals and water features.
Schloss Ludwigslust ist ein barockes Highlight mecklenburgischer Geschichte und Kultur. Es verzaubert Besucher mit seinem atemberaubenden Ambiente umgeben von einem historischen Park mit seinen Alleen, Kanälen und Wasserspielen.
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Northern Germany, the 1776-completed Ludwigslust Castle rises - a gem of baroque architecture and cultural significance. As the former residence of Duke Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, it still embodies the splendid, late-baroque era with its high-quality sandstone facade.
Eingebettet in die malerische Landschaft Norddeutschlands erhebt sich das 1776 vollendete Schloss Ludwigslust - ein Juwel barocker Architektur und kultureller Bedeutung. Die einstige Residenz des Herzogs Friedrich von Mecklenburg-Schwerin verkörpert auch heute noch die prunkvolle, spätbarocke Ära.
The ducal apartment and guest apartments in the east wing feature damask wall coverings, panels with golden decorative applications made from papier-mâché, and marquetry floors, immersing visitors in the court’s lifestyle of the 18th century. Within this setting, you will find the paintings of Ludwigslust's court artists and the French hunting painter Jean-Baptiste Oudry, along with precious furniture and other art objects.
Das herzogliche Appartement und die Gästeappartements im Ostflügel entführen mit damastenen Wandbespannungen, Paneelen mit goldenen Zierapplikationen aus Papiermaché und Marketeriefußböden in die höfische Wohnkultur des 18. Jahrhunderts. In diesem Ambiente sind die Gemälde der Ludwigsluster Hofkünstler und des französischen Jagdmalers Jean-Baptiste Oudry, kostbare Möbel und weitere Kunstgegenstände zu entdecken.
The west wing of the castle and the grand halls of the central axis are currently undergoing restoration. Afterwards, the feminine side of the house, including the ladies' apartment and the so-called Alexandrine apartment, will also shine in new splendour. Here, Prussian princesses and Russian tsars’ daughters have enriched the decor of their quarters. The festival halls will also once again enchant with gold and marble after the construction work is completed.
Der Westflügel des Schlosses und die großen Säle der Mittelachse werden derzeit saniert. Danach wird auch die feminine Seite des Hauses mit dem Damenappartement und der so genannten Alexandrinenwohnung in ungeahntem Glanz erstrahlen. Hier haben preußische Prinzessinnen und russische Zarentöchter die Ausstattung ihrer Räumlichkeiten prachtvoll bereichert. Auch die Festsäle werden nach Abschluss der Baumaßnahmen wieder ihren Zauber aus Gold und Marmor verbreiten.
Not far away, you can find two more castles: Bothmer Castle with its exciting English-North German history and Schwerin Castle, which resembles a dreamy fairytale castle thanks to its goldenshining turrets. If you fancy a magical journey into the splendid past, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with a 1,000-year history of the Mecklenburg dukes is the place to be.
Nicht weit entfernt findet man zudem Schloss Bothmer mit spannender englisch-norddeutscher Geschichte und Schloss Schwerin, welches mit goldglänzenden Turmspitzen an ein verträumtes Märchenschloss erinnert. Wer also Lust auf eine Reise in die prunkvolle Vergangenheit hat, ist in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern dank der 1.000-jährigen Geschichte der mecklenburgischen Herzöge goldrichtig.
