COMMUNITY PARTNERS Saving Sight joins with a variety of partners in our community because we cannot do this life changing work alone. We rely on volunteers, Medical Examiners/Coroners, Lions Clubs, and Donate Life teams to help sustain and accomplish our sight saving mission. In prior years, our outreach efforts have centered on community events, but due to COVID-19, we have had to seek out innovative new approaches to connecting and sharing our message. The continued dedication of these individuals and organizations in these unprecedented times has enabled us to bring cohesion and solidarity to our service area at home and around the world.
Local Coroner Connects Families to Gift of Sight in Moments of Darkness As Taney County Coroner, Tony Mullen is no stranger to difficult and often emotionally taxing situations. From doing investigative work at death scenes and conducting autopsies, to notifying the next of kin of a death, his job is demanding and often misunderstood. But Mullen is determined to bring the hope that accompanies organ, eye, and tissue donation to the community he serves in their times of loss.

As a county coroner, Mullen is in a unique position to work with donation agencies like Saving Sight when a death occurs to offer donation as an option in many cases. He is also committed to providing resources to help his community better understand the donation process. “For many people, the only exposure they have to donation is at the DMV when they sign up,” said Mullen. “In the position that I’m in, I have the opportunity to educate others.” Click here to read his full story.
