“ At EY we look for top performers and innovators, and we are proud of our differences and all they bring to our firm and our clients. In the summer of 2023 we hired two data scientists from the UBC Sauder programs who joined brimming with intellectual curiosity, knowledge of markets, and eager to dive in to any collaborative work or volunteering opportunity available. UBC prepared them with foundational knowledge, technical skills, and a positivity toward teaming and joining that will continue to serve them well at EY and among our Consulting data practice. ”

We offer flexible experiential learning options for you to choose from. Between May and August, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in an experience that supports your learning and career goals.
Internship: A short-term paid professional working position where you will gain work experience in analytics. You will be responsible for finding, applying to, and securing your own internship position. The Business Career Centre works closely with employers to promote available opportunities.
Group Industry Project: In groups, you will be partnered with an organization to provide consulting services addressing business challenges using your analytics skills. This will provide hands-on experience working with clients and as part of a team.
Research Project: An independent analytics initiative that you create and propose. This allows you to dive into an area of interest, build your portfolio of experiences and develop transferable business analytics skills that align with your career goals.
The Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre (BCC) at the UBC Sauder School of Business supports your professional development, preparing you for the ever-evolving world of work. Our mission is to enhance your career journey with customized services and meaningful connections with business communities. We aim to equip you with the tools and knowledge for a fulfilling and successful career.
Our approach focuses on learning by doing. Starting in the classroom, we help prepare you to break into analytics roles through dedicated career development and experiential learning preparation courses. These will help you scale up your job search and career progression skills, build your network, craft targeted applications, and interview confidently. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience through either a personal research project, group industry project, or internship, as well as hackathons sponsored by companies like Google, case studies, and behavioral mock interviews. These opportunities not only give you practical work experience during your degree but also provide exposure to local and national career opportunities.
Every student’s career path is different. That’s why our team of Career Strategists offers a wide range of career development programming and personalized career coaching to support your specific needs and goals. Whether you want to explore your strengths, hone your EQ, work in a start-up, pivot to a new industry or fine-tune your resume and interview skills, we’re here to equip you with the skills and tools to navigate your unique career journey.
Employers significantly shape our students’ career paths. Our employer relations team actively bridges the gap between our students and the business world. We connect MBAN students with hundreds of potential employers, from global industry leaders like Deloitte Consulting to innovative local companies like Aritzia. Many of these potential employers are also UBC Sauder’s own alumni.
We facilitate company recruiting sessions, hiring, and networking events throughout the program. Additionally, we bring companies such as TD to teach technical courses, providing ample opportunity to connect with their teams. We posted over 1,100 internship and full-time job opportunities for the MBAN Class of 2023 spanning diverse industries and roles. While we provide these opportunities, it’s up to you to act. The BCC’s career team is here to support you every step of the way.
Our support for you doesn’t end at graduation. We’re committed to helping you thrive with continued access to self-guided career resources and the BCC jobs board. You’ll also gain access to alumni UBC discounts and services, including career development programming.
With the BCC, your UBC MBAN is more than a degree; it’s a launchpad for lifelong professional success, where you gain not only knowledge but also invaluable networks and connections.
“ I really appreciate the ability of MBAN students to join the team and hit the ground running. The combination of previous working experience and newly developed technical skills allows them to quickly fit right in to a business environment and start contributing almost immediately.”

UBC Sauder proudly holds accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a globally recognized body that provides specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. This accreditation is a testament to the quality and rigour of our programs and is considered the gold standard in business education worldwide.
The Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre (BCC) is a member of the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA). The MBA CSEA has set guidelines for reporting employment, salary, and other related statistics, which are recognized as the standard for sharing this information with external ranking organizations and the MBA CSEA itself. The data presented in this report has been collected and interpreted in accordance with the MBA CSEA Specialty Masters Reporting Standards (2017).
When considering salary compensation, it’s important to look beyond the average and consider the median (mid-point) and range. These additional data points offer a more comprehensive view of salary distribution among the class. It’s worth noting that the average can be skewed by a small number of students receiving either very high or very low salary offers. For consistency and ease of comparison, all salaries are reported in Canadian dollars, with foreign salaries converted using the prevailing exchange rate.
