Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Employment Report

Message from Interim Assistant Dean Laine McDonald
As the Interim Assistant Dean of the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre (BCC) at the UBC Sauder School of Business, I’m pleased to share the Class of 2024 Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Employment Report with you as you consider the next step in your career journey.
Navigating today’s evolving job market—the shifting economic conditions, emerging industries, and new ways of working—requires more than business expertise. It demands adaptability, emotional intelligence, and strong professional connections. The Class of 2024 rose to the occasion, and this report reflects the ambition and resilience that define UBC Sauder graduates.
The UBC MBAN is more than a degree—it’s a transformational experience that prepares students to lead with purpose and transform data into actionable business impact. The BCC supports this journey through one-on-one career coaching, an embedded career development course, job opportunities, and exclusive alumni and employer events. Whether pursuing roles in Canada or globally, in established industries or emerging sectors, students benefit from our personalized support designed to help them clarify their goals and build the skills, knowledge, and networks to achieve them.
Experiential learning is a cornerstone of the UBC Sauder experience. Internships, hackathons, case competitions, and industry projects are more than learning moments—they’re launchpads. For many students, these experiences serve as gateways to full-time roles, demonstrating the real-world value of hands-on learning and the strength of our employer and alumni networks. With more than 50,000 alumni worldwide and strong industry relationships, our students gain access to a robust and engaged network that supports them throughout their MBAN studies and beyond.
I look forward to welcoming you to UBC Sauder, where our community is shaping the future of business through innovation, sustainability, and responsible leadership

“ At EY we look for top performers and innovators, and we are proud of our differences and all they bring to our firm and our clients. This summer we hired two data scientists from the UBC (MBAN & MM) programs who joined brimming with intellectual curiosity, knowledge of markets, and eager to dive in to any collaborative work or volunteering opportunity available. UBC prepared them with foundational knowledge, technical skills, and a positivity toward teaming and joining that will continue to serve them well at EY and among our Consulting data practice.”

Interpreting our employment and internship data
Accreditation
UBC Sauder proudly holds accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a globally recognized body that provides specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. This accreditation is a testament to the quality and rigor of our programs and is considered the gold standard in business education worldwide.
Reporting standards
The Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre (BCC) is a member of the Career Services and Employer Alliance (CSEA). The CSEA has guidelines for reporting employment, salary, and other related statistics, which are recognized as the standard for sharing this information with external ranking organizations and the CSEA itself. The data presented in this report has been collected and interpreted in accordance with the CSEA Specialty Masters Employment Reporting Standards (2017).
Salary statistics
When considering salary compensation, it’s important to look beyond the average and consider the median (mid-point) and range. These additional data points offer a more comprehensive view of salary distribution among the class. It’s worth noting that the average can be skewed by a small number of students receiving either very high or very low salary offers. For consistency and ease of comparison, all salaries are reported in Canadian dollars, with foreign salaries converted using the prevailing exchange rate.
