Parking in car share spaces

31 January 2025
Thank you for continuing to support our work to improve car parking We are still seeing colleagues parking in car share spaces without the right permits If you wish to park in these spaces, you must have a valid parking permit and join the car-share scheme You should then exhibit two permits on your dashboard - either one orange and one pink, or two pink If you are observed parking in a car share space without the right permits, you will be given a warning at first, followed by a Parking Charge Notice (PCN)
William Farr House
Stretton House
Please don’t block the path if you are parking behind Stretton House by blocks 2 and 3 Please leave a big enough gap for staff to use the path
There are often large puddles on the road and colleagues are struggling to get through with trolleys
The blood test parking bays at William Farr House are for patients only. Colleagues are not permitted to park in these bays at any time. ANPR cameras are due to be installed at William Farr House in the coming months To prepare for this, parking wardens will start monitoring how people are parking, and if necessary, issue warning notices
Residential streets - RSH

We are asking everyone to help us be responsible neighbours by not parking on residential streets close to the hospital We would encourage everyone to use the free Park & Ride service and park your car securely at Oxon
EV charging points
We understand that some colleagues may need to use the EV charging points on site and that these are located in a patient parking zone
To ensure that you do not receive a PCN, you will need to follow the process below if you need to charge your vehicle
Colleagues should provide their details to the attendants on site who will:
Check the staff member has a valid staff parking permit
Manually create a permit for the public car park the vehicle is charging in for that session only
This process needs to be followed every time colleagues charge their vehicles in a public car park
Colleagues will need to move their vehicle when they have finished charging to ensure that others can also use the charging bays Charging for a few hours does not entitle that person to use the charging point as a parking space for the rest of their shift Attendants will monitor this and PCNs will be issued to any vehicle which remains in the bay for more than 30 minutes after the charging session has completed

Secure cycle shelters

There are secure staff cycle shelters available to colleagues. There are five at RSH, three at PRH and one at Hollinswood House To access these shelters, please send the following details to sath greenertravels@nhs net

Cycle security advice
1 Ideally use two secure-rated locks for maximum security
2 Lock both wheels and the frame (or wheel and frame with one lock)
3. Always lock the frame to a solid object such as a bike stand
4 Two types of lock (chain/cable and D-lock) are harder to break
5 Remove all your bike accessories every time you leave it unattended

FAQ: Is there any possibility the Park & Ride could stop in Gains Park?
The service we run is contracted between Oxon and the RSH site There are a number of reasons why this isn’t possible This would affect Arriva’s number 11 Gains Park bus service and passenger numbers Passenger numbers took a massive hit during the pandemic with a 50% decline and they are slowly recovering. The Park & Ride currently runs on a tight deadline and these additional public bus stops would impact the service levels

We have some staff that live in the local area and walk to the Park & Ride site, to take advantage of this free bus service
It’s less fuss, to take the bus
