SARAH MOHR
Interior Design Student

I am an Interior Design student at Iowa State University, passionate about creating functional, aesthetic, and sustainable spaces. My coursework has provided a strong foundation in construction, materials, codes, human factors, and branding, deepening my understanding of how design influences human interaction.
Studying abroad at Iowa State University Rome Campus was an immersive classical and historical design experience. This experience strengthened my appreciation for art history and interdisciplinary design. Additionally, working with Revit and Adobe programs has fueled my excitement to further develop my technical skills.
My former position as Vice President of Marketing at Alpha Delta Pi Sorority strengthened my understanding of design and marketing concepts. My leadership position made me more curious about design’s role in marketing and guided me to an internship at Burns & McDonnell as an experiential graphic designer this past summer. I worked with Burns & McDonnell’s marketing department, gained valuable insight into design and branding, and assisted on an intern lead B2B go-to-market and brand awareness campaign.
This spring, I am excited to contribute to the set design committee for The Fashion Show at Iowa State University, one of the nation’s largest student-run fashion events.
I am excited to graduate in May 2025 with a BFA in Interior Design and I am eager to apply my skills in a collaborative setting, shaping spaces that prioritize branding, usability, and human-centered design.

I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Burns & McDonnell, where I was tasked with developing graphic design elements and playbook for a dynamic electrification marketing campaign. My role involved creating visually engaging materials that resonated with our target audience and captured the essence of Burns & McDonnell’s new brand evolution.

During my internship, I was a member of the Branded Interiors Team that developed experiential design solutions and integrated Burns & McDonnell’s brand guidelines into client spaces and projects. This experience helped deepen my understanding of effective visual communication in a real-world context.

Power the Future, an intern-led Business-to-Business, Go-To-Market strategy and Brand Awareness campaign aligned with key business Burns & McDonnell initiatives. I leveraged design to create successful business deliverables and gained problem-solving skills at both the design and marketing levels during the real-world campaign creation.

Rinascente known as “for the city, with the city, in the city” delivers a theatrical shopping experience for customers using novelties and materiality. It is located on the ancient 15th-century Aqua Virgo aqueduct, the pipeline that supplies water into Rome and the Trevi Fountain.

The interior contains a steel membrane that frames each shop window and is outlined in travertine. Rinascente is home to the most innovative designers in areas of fashion, interior design, industrial design, and advertising, which propelled the brand of Rinascente to be a space for designers to gather, more than just a place to shop. This store pioneered modern-day shopping because it was the first to sell ready-made clothing, set fixed selling prices, and use light to illuminate window shops. Rinascente was born with the spirit of innovation and still reflects that identity today.

The pop-up shop serves as a visual narrative of a woman's journey through personal growth. LA.B celebrates independence and self-identity while honoring the legacy of the women who came before her. The space blends a natural, villa-like ambiance with modern sculptural elements, lighting, and spatial design. The space embodies LA.B’s brand vision while paying homage to the origins of the Rinascente. An interchangeable display adds a dynamic touch, ensuring the temporary installation remains ever-evolving.

The pop-up shop of LA. B was designed to reflect the spirit of Rinascente by implementing interactive elements to create an installation experience. The front wall of the shop is a display with alternate graphics that represent the modern take on classical architecture. This component of the pop-up shop furthers the design concept of pop-art and a modern take on Roman villas.
