About me My name is Sarah Mohr and I am a third-year interior design student at Iowa State University. The Interior Design program has introduced me to the many facets of Interior Design, including construction, finishes and materials, codes, graphic design, human factors, and art history. I have learned the benefits of well-designed spaces that use shape, function, aesthetics, and optimization. Furthermore, I studied how interior design relates to branding and marketing in retail design last semester. All these factors affect how people live and interact in the space around them. Though I have always felt the impact that design can have on my surroundings, my courses have given me the skills to impact design. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with a team in a community setting and impact how people interact in an environment. Through my study abroad experience at Iowa State University's campus in Rome, Italy, I was immersed in classical and historiacal design. The program included collaboration with graphic, industrial, and integrated studio art majors. This experience has givien me a profound appreciation of art history and its connection to interior design and architecture and introduced me to interdisciplinary design. Collaborating with other interior design students on SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, and other Adobe programs has increased my excitement to learn more design principles and attain more experiences and skills with a design team. I plan to graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. The intersection design with sustainability, usability, and human-centric principles inspires me for my career as a designer and the future of interior design.

CELINE SHOP-IN-SHOP

RINASCENTE Rinascente known as “for the city, with the city, in the city” delivers a experience full of novelties and creates a theatrical shopping experience for customers using novelties and materiality to awaken the senses. It is located in the ancient location of the 15thcentury Aqua Virgo aqueduct, the pipeline that supplies water into Rome and the Trevi Fountain. The interior contains a steel membrane that frames each shop window and is outlined in a travertine, also repeated in the floor. Rinascente is home to the most innovative designers in areas of fashion, interior design, industrial design, and advertising, which propelled the brand of Rinascente to be more than just a store. And the store was a pioneed in the creating of modern day shopping by being the first to sell ready made clothing, set fixed selling prices, and use light to illuminate window shops. Rinascente was born with the spirit of innovation, and still reflects that identity today.

concept Celine’s shop-in-shop in Rinascente is an interpretation of current creative director Hedi Slimane, who is redefining Celine from its elegant and min identity to a bold and daring brand. Through an Art Deco approach inspired by his cologne line with a nod to the Art Deco era, represented through glass, asymmetry, wood, and dramatic scale, the shop-in-shop will embody the spirit of creating a new take on an influential design. The origins of Celine are blended with his new edgy materiality, horizontal and vertical emphasis, and chic lighting solutions.

concept The pop-up shop is a visual representation of a woman's journey through personal growth, adversity, and advocacy for those who have struggled silently. LA. B promotes her newfound economic independence and transformation of her own self-concept while also remaining connected to the women before her. A natural, villa-like feel paired with a modern take on sculpture, lighting, and spatial organization is a nod to the origins of the Rinascente. An interchangeable display creates a dynamic design in a temporary installation.

LA.B media The pop-up shop of La. B was designed to reflect the spirit of Rinascente by implementing interactive elements to create an installation experience. The front wall of the shop is a display with alternate graphics that represent the modern take on classical architectural graphics. This component of the pop-up shop furthers the design concept of a pop-art and modern take on Roman villas.

concept A vacation home in the Pacific Hights area of San Francisco will provide an influential city escape while being close to her family. The objective is to create a space that evokes creativity and reinforces a calm and rejuvenation aura. With attention to restoration theory, organic shapes, oceanic color palettes, and floor-to-ceiling windows, the large open areas will allow the beautiful bay aura to be felt within Emma Chamberlain’s home.
