Helping the World Run Better – Together

For me, 2023 was not just another time in the calendar; it marked a significant leap in our CSR journey. That’s why I am more than excited to share the inspiring stories of progress and innovation that have defined our company’s purpose of helping the world run better and improve people’s lives in this ebook. It’s a narrative close to my heart, where challenges are mere backdrops to our incredible progress in powering equitable access to economic opportunity, education & employment, and the green economy.

The momentum we gained in 2023 did not happen by chance; it resulted from a strategic and purposeful transformation of our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility. This new approach represented a transformative leap, not just in one, but in two critical areas: refining our education initiatives with a stronger focus on employability and deepening our engagement with the social entrepreneurship sector.

As we charted our course in 2023, our strategic shift in education marked a significant turning point. It was a bittersweet transition. As the head of CSR, I hold a soft spot for initiatives like Africa Code Week, Meet & Code, and Latin Code Week, which have made meaningful differences, so making the pivot towards an employability focus was challenging, especially having cherished the achievements of these programs.

But change is a necessity, and adaptability is a virtue. Together with UNICEF and Generation Unlimited, we launched ‘SAP Educate to Employ,’ a program that equips underprivileged youth with the skills for tomorrow’s job market. Our initiatives going forward have a clear focus on emerging global challenges, such as the talent crunch and the green transition.

Simultaneously, we deepened our commitment to the social entrepreneurship sector. We’ve shifted to providing more direct, hands-on support to social entrepreneurs. This means we’re not just talking about change: we’re actively working with these entrepreneurs giving them the specific help they need. Whether offering our expertise via virtual and on-site pro-bono consulting or advocating for supportive policies, we make sure our support makes a real, visible difference. This focused approach helps us ensure that our efforts hit the mark, creating a genuine impact in driving social and environmental progress. I’m particularly excited about our involvement in social procurement. Here, we’re bringing social enterprises into private and public sector supply chains and helping them to integrate into the SAP Business Network, the world’s largest B2B procurement network.

As our initiatives with social entrepreneurs and within education were gaining momentum, a significant internal pivot was also taking shape within SAP. Previously, volunteering had often been viewed as a ‘nice to have’ - undoubtedly valuable, but its contributions to our company’s operations were not fully realized. However, I saw a pivotal change unfold during this year. We started recognizing the tangible benefits of volunteering, not just for the societal good it fosters but for the personal and professional growth it catalyzes in our employees. We’ve illustrated this dual benefit compellingly supported by our solid impact measurement. This has fundamentally changed how we perceive volunteering, morphing it from a sideline endeavor into an integral part of our organization’s fabric. This shift in perception shows how deeply the values of CSR are now woven into the essence of the development programs at SAP

Leading Corporate Social Responsibility at SAP has always been more than just about strategic decisions and initiatives for me; it’s been a deeply personal journey to see how these choices can drive transformative social change. Progress often demands tough yet necessary decisions – a stepping stone towards long-term success, a path we embarked upon in 2023 and witnessed bear fruit, as this ebook shows. However, the true reward of our work extends beyond strategies and milestones; it lies in the impact on the young lives we touch together with our partners. Observing these young individuals, brimming with potential and eagerness to make a difference, has been profoundly inspiring. Each initiative we launch, every skill we impart, and every platform we provide to amplify young voices, carves a path for these emerging leaders. The everyday interactions, the inspiring stories, and the boundless determination I see in the youth we support highlight that our work is more than achieving corporate goals. It is a commitment, a mission to empower tomorrow’s leaders in building a more sustainable and just world.

Warm regards,

A note from Julia White

My first experience with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at SAP was three years ago at the World Economic Forum. Through my participation in a panel discussion about building responsible supply networks, it became immediately clear to me how SAP’s unique global reach enables us to live our purpose of helping the world run better and improving people’s lives.

SAP’s CSR goals are threefold: power equitable access to economic opportunity, education and employment, and the circular economy. We do this through our technology, our partners, and our employees.

One stellar outcome in 2023 was the integration of verified social enterprises into the SAP Business Network. With $4.9T transacted on our network, even a slight pivot towards social enterprises can funnel unprecedented resources into sustainable development worldwide. We can help our customers connect with suppliers that can offer required goods and services to help them reduce risk, meet ESG goals, and create positive impact without allocating additional financial resources.

Our work is only possible with people, like social entrepreneur Ajaita Shah, who we have supported since 2015. Her organization, Frontier Markets, harnesses a network of women entrepreneurs to deliver technology solutions, turning significant challenges into avenues for empowerment and positive change. It is partners like UNICEF for Generation Unlimited (GenU) who help prepare the world’s youth for the challenges and opportunities of a digital economy through our “SAP Educate to Employ” program. And, it is our employees who devoted over 140,000 volunteer and pro bono consulting hours with SAP contributing 25.2 million euros to global charitable causes.

This e-Book reflects our collective impact in 2023, but it is also a call to action for all of us. Together, we can demonstrate the immense potential of businesses as a force for good in the world. As we look towards 2024, I am excited about what we can achieve together.

SAP’s Commitment to the UN Social and Solidarity Economy Resolution

The United Nations (UN) resolution on the social and solidarity economy (SSE) was officially adopted in April 2023, recognizing a sector that puts people and planet first. This sector includes non-profits, impact businesses, and cooperatives, as a significant economic force that employs millions and plays a crucial role in achieving all 17 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Following ongoing partnerships, SAP stands at the forefront of corporations embracing the SSE, responding to the UN's call for more profound engagement with global challenges.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of private sector procurement, with an estimated market opportunity of around USD 500 billion annually for the social economy, SAP aligns with the UN's vision and emphasizes the importance of corporate involvement in fostering meaningful social and economic change. This initiative solidifies SAP's commitment to making a positive global impact, reflecting its dedication to social responsibility and sustainable development.

As a leader in the private sector within the World Economic Forum Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship, SAP co-authored an open letter to the UN Taskforce on the Social and Solidarity Economy, highlighting the role of the private sector.

Elevating Social Responsibility with SEWF’s People and Planet First Verification Initiative

This year, SAP championed the Verification for Enterprises Putting People and Planet First initiative by the Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF), powered by Good Market. The initiative provides a platform for social enterprises to verify themselves on the SAP Business Network, which transacts over $4.9 trillion annually across 190 countries, providing visibility for these organizations and connecting them to procurement opportunities with larger businesses to expand their market access.

This solution emerged as a response to a significant challenge faced by corporations in integrating social enterprises into their supply chains: the

6

need to accurately ascertain whether these enterprises are genuinely committed to environmentally responsible practices or if they are merely engaging in greenwashing. The establishment of this verification process has resulted in the development of globally recognized standards that prioritize both people and the planet.

To ensure the legitimacy of a social enterprise verification, organizations can collaborate with local social procurement partners like Social Traders in Australia, Buy Social Canada, or directly engage with SEWF.

In addition to SAP's engagement, social entrepreneurs will gain exclusive benefits, including fast-tracked legal services, discounted access to GrantStation, and trusted seller status for social procurement contracts.

A Global Initiative for Positive Change in Partnership with UNICEF

Launched across the Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, SAP’s Educate to Employ, powered by UNICEF in support of Generation Unlimited, aims to empower over one million youths with essential skills by 2026, with a strong focus on emotional intelligence, problemsolving, and critical thinking. The initiative employs microcredential programs tailored for high school graduates and university degree holders, covering crucial aspects such as employability skills, technology in the workplace, and SAP certification, to link them to tangible employment opportunities.

Successful candidates will be offered internship opportunities within SAP, addressing potential disruptions in ICT roles through a dedicated commitment to continuous learning. Prioritizing equity, the program targets underserved and underrepresented groups, providing businesses with certified, diverse talent while simultaneously contributing to global digital transformation and expanding skilled job opportunities.

SAP’s strategy to combat employment inequality hinges on the transformative ripple effect of education. By providing youth with these skills, the program initiates a cycle that fosters greater social stability and economic growth. This acts as a gateway to stable employment, enabling individuals to overcome the challenges presented by inequality. As they secure stable jobs, the benefits extend beyond personal financial well-being to positively impact the economic health of their communities.

By December 2023, more than 1,000 African youths have completed the SAP Beginner Course entitled "Boost Your Career with SAP Skills".

Empowering Global Youth Changemakers

Through Support for The Possibilists Alliance and 2023 Study

During the pandemic, the SAP Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team carefully scrutinized how its financial and nonfinancial support could truly make the world run better and improve people’s lives. The biggest determination was that the the world cannot plan for a more equitable, just, and sustainable future without having future leaders at the table, the youth.

It’s for this reason that in 2023, SAP proudly supported The Possibilists, an alliance comprising some of the world's largest youth social innovation networks powered by ChangemakerXchange. This collective effort aims to foster collaboration among young changemakers globally, sharing opportunities, co-creating studies, and developing collective actions to address pressing issues. Recognizing the transformative potential of young people in driving disruptive and inclusive social innovations, SAP understands the challenges they face, often sacrificing personal finances and well-being for societal impact. In response, SAP actively contributes to The Possibilists, providing invaluable insights and expanding opportunities for young innovators. Through these initiatives, SAP ensures that young changemakers have a seat at the table giving them a voice in decision-making through participation in global events.

In addition, this year, SAP supported the second round

of research by The Possibilists which identified eight key objectives to improve the lives of changemakers, strengthen their ventures, and build a more robust changemaking ecosystem. These goals involve enhancing the impact of innovators' organizations and establishing connections with influential decision-makers in various sectors.

There are around 10 million social enterprises globally, accounting for $2 trillion in annual turnover, creating 200 million jobs. This is according to the most recent State of Social Enterprise Report commissioned by SAP as part of the Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship for the World Economic Forum.

SAP provides financial and non-financial support to social businesses that, in turn, accelerate their ability to drive social and environmental impact. Over the past 15 years, our purpose, and our commitment to investing in spaces that deliver mutual benefit and shared value have guided SAP to become increasingly more engaged and supportive of the impact social entrepreneurship ecosystem globally.

SAP is channeling its commitment to scale the social entrepreneurship sector into three key areas:

• Develop Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains: We aim to strengthen social enterprises by including them in private and public sector supply chains making them more socially and environmentally responsible.

• Advocate and Invest in the Social Economy: Our focus extends to both financial and non-financial

support to the social economy, advocating for supportive public policies and investing resources to foster and scale the social economy.

• Scale Social Businesses and Develop SAP

Employees: SAP enables thousands of employees to lend their expertise to help social enterprises address systemic and business challenges through pro bono consulting, mentorship, and coaching.

In 2023, we worked on 238 projects where 676 employees engaged as consultants, resulting in an in-kind contribution of 3.7M USD and 50k pro bono consulting hours. TRANSFORM Support Hub

An on-demand acceleration platform, with a primary mission to scale sustainable and equitable business models, catering to social enterprises, corporations, and individuals shaping their trajectories.

Launched in collaboration with SAP, Unilever, TRANSFORM (Unilever, EY, and UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office), the TRANSFORM Support Hub, powered by MovingWorlds, seamlessly connects social enterprises everywhere, with expert professionals anywhere to expedite world changing solutions! The platform integrates education, pro bono consulting, and cross-sector connections designed to empower social enterprises, including in building commercial partnerships. It also aids corporations in integrating social and environmental impact throughout their core businesses via employee experiential leadership development and engagement.

The TRANSFORM Support Hub welcomes and promotes all solution offerings supporting social enterprises on its platform, making it a global one-stop-online shop for non-financial support, endorsed by the World Economic Forum's Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship. This strategic partnership converges the best offerings from the public, private, and social sectors, creating a unified front to support social entrepreneurs on a global scale.

One success story includes SAP employees Jaime and Mallory who used their existing skills in technology, brand building, and customer success to support Alexa Goodman Consulting. Through scoping calls and active listening, they identified the social enterprise's goals and challenges. The TRANSFORM Support Hub platform facilitated this collaboration, allowing them to contribute to three short-term goals: optimizing SEO, growing brand presence on social media, and enabling website analytics.

The project demonstrated the value and transferability of the skills they gained from the SAP Academy, a world-class development program preparing future leaders at SAP. While leveraging their strengths, Jaime and Mallory also learned new skills, specifically in SEO. The experience taught them resilience, problem-solving, and the confidence to tackle challenges, ultimately enhancing their professional capabilities.

Upon completion, they provided documentation for Alexa Goodman Consulting to continue implementing their recommendations independently. Both volunteers reported a deeper sense of purpose and inspiration to incorporate sustainability into their work. The project not only contributed to Goodman Consulting's growth but also helped Jaime and Mallory develop leadership skills, cross-cultural competence, and the courage to embrace new opportunities.

In 2023, 120 employees engaged with 51 projects across 26 countries, on the TRANSFORM Support Hub via Acceleration Collective, which resulted in an in-kind contribution of 458,835 USD.

• Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal: This social enterprise is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities in Nepal by offering on-the-job training and employment opportunities. This is to harness the rich potential of local raw materials and leverage the indigenous knowledge and skills of artisans from these rural populations. The vision is to craft designer "Made in Nepal" clothing and accessories, showcasing the unique designs rooted in the country's cultural heritage. Committed to social responsibility, the enterprise prioritizes employing individuals from marginalized backgrounds, ensuring fair living wages, and promoting ethical practices.

• TORAJAMELO: A constantly evolving slow fashion brand addressing the issue of migration from rural communities by focusing on reviving rural economies with weaving as an entry point. More than 300 ethnic groups who live in Indonesia have a weaving heritage dating back hundreds of years, especially in the poorest and most remote areas, where there are few other alternative income opportunities.

• Jadara Foundation: With a mission to ensure that all youth have access to quality education regardless of socio-economic status, Jadara Foundation has been a driving force for two decades. Million in-kind contribution.

Pro Bono for Economic Equity

The Pro Bono for Economic Equity (PBEE) program is a virtual fourweek pro bono consulting program dedicated to fortifying Blackand Indigenous-owned businesses and social enterprises, with a specific focus on economic equity through skills transfer from SAP employees.

216 colleagues

71 non-profit & social enterprises

22,000 pro bono consulting hours

Launched in early 2021, PBEE strengthens ties with under-resourced communities by supporting entrepreneurs in building capacity for longterm economic opportunities through pro bono volunteering. At the culmination of the program, participating business owners receive a toolkit for addressing their strategic challenges, engage in knowledgesharing sessions about life as Indigenous entrepreneurs, and gain an opportunity to develop business skills that will propel them forward. SAP employees dedicate one week to working full-time with their assigned business, and three weeks working at least eight hours per week with them. In many instances, given that the businesses supported are typically newer and smaller in scale, the arrival of SAP volunteers results in the doubling of an organization's staff.

This year, 29 employees volunteered to support nine small business host clients, including four Black-owned businesses in the U.S. and five Indigenous-owned businesses in Canada. This effort resulted in a $236,000 in-kind contribution for the year, reflecting a collective commitment of 3,100 volunteer hours.

Since the program's inception, 216 colleagues have engaged with 71 host clients. The cumulative impact has been substantial, with an impressive $1.67 million in-kind contribution generated from over 22,000 dedicated volunteer hours

Social Impact Award (SIA)

SIA is a hub for aspiring entrepreneurs, guiding them through the journey from initial aspirations to impactful ventures. By offering essential skills, facilitating access to valuable networks, and acknowledging outstanding teams with the Social Impact Award, SIA plays a pivotal role in nurturing promising initiatives.

SAP contributes to SIA by channeling skills and knowledge through dedicated volunteers who serve as mentors and knowledge experts. This collaborative effort extends across several European countries, including Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine. Through this partnership, SAP and SIA are actively instilling innovation and social impact in the entrepreneurial landscape addressing initiatives such as mental health, inclusion, circular economy, youth donation trends, and fair supply chains.

Out of numerous entries, 181 businesses were carefully chosen to undergo coaching and mentorship for their entrepreneurial ventures. During this edition, 102 SAP colleagues volunteered, working with 111 social businesses. There were also 10 jurors from SAP and, out of the 71 awards, 44 were given to enterprises in the countries involved in the SAP partnership. Winning teams, selected through a rigorous process, were awarded up to €3,000 each. This financial support was intended to empower them to transform their innovative business ideas into tangible realities.

The pinnacle of this recognition was marked by the winners' participation in the SIA Summit 2023 held in November in Novi Sad, Serbia. This summit served as a dynamic platform, bringing together successful projects from 18 countries spanning three continents. The event not only celebrated the achievements of the winning teams but also facilitated invaluable networking opportunities and collaborative efforts among like-minded entrepreneurs.

Meetwoch and Pro-Bono-Camp in partnership with Haus des Stiftens

Meetwoch, a collaborative initiative with Haus des Stiftens, is an innovative online coaching program where SAP employees connect with non-profits in a virtual one-onone session to offer tailored expertise to bolster their operations, all within a one-hour time limit. Pro-BonoCamp is also a unique offering from Haus des Stiftens where SAP colleagues transformed their professional expertise into a knowledge donation for non-profit organizations through 60-minute one-on-one sessions.

Launched during Germany's Digitaltag in 2023, Meetwoch took place over the course of three events where executives and experts from SAP explored topics such as digital team leadership, resilience in the digital workplace, and internal communication.

This initiative not only benefited non-profit organizations but also enriched SAP employees by providing a platform to contribute their expertise and insights while learning about the potential these organizations hold for creating positive social and sustainable change. In 2023, 101 SAP colleagues provided advice for 95 non-profit organizations in 1-on1 coaching sessions.

The Pro-Bono-Camp was held in November, brought together approximately 1,000 corporate volunteers for one-on-one exchanges with non-profit organizations in 22 dedicated sessions. Topics included strategy development, project management, and team building. This provided an opportunity for SAP experts to actively contribute to nonprofit organizations, providing them with the knowledge and guidance they need to thrive.

Partner Spotlight

The importance of collaboration and partnerships on a macro level to accelerate the social enterprise sector is paramount. Together with our strategic partners, SAP enables the buy social movement globally and supports infrastructure development by building the necessary networks and investing in the capacity expansion of key stakeholders:

Our strategic partners support us in achieving our goals: Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship, Acumen, Social Impact Award, We Are Family Foundation, ChangemakerXchange , The Possibilists, and Social Enterprise World Forum.

Below are some partner highlights:

Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship

The Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship, hosted by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in partnership with the World Economic Forum, stands as the largest multi-stakeholder coalition in its sector, bringing together an array of entities such as corporations, investors, philanthropists, governments, researchers, media, and industry players. With over 100 members, this alliance plays a pivotal role in spearheading a social innovation movement on a global scale.

SAP, a crucial contributor and strategic partner to the alliance, acknowledges the pivotal role of innovation and a robust global network for the prosperity of enterprises. The Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship catalyzes both these elements, notably through the impactful avenue of social procurement, and supports the broader social enterprise movement. This approach surpasses traditional corporate philanthropy, making a positive impact on people's lives and the planet concurrently.

In representation of the Corporate Leadership Council of the Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship, Alexandra van der Ploeg, Global Head of SAP Corporate Social Responsibility, co-authored an open letter to the UN Taskforce alongside Microsoft and IKEA Social Entrepreneurship. The letter highlighted the Alliance’s endorsement of the UN General Assembly's adoption of the resolution on “Promoting the social and solidarity economy for sustainable development.” This reinforces the acknowledgment that social economy actors can steer the private sector toward a more stakeholder-centric economy by integrating social economy principles into mainstream business activities.

Furthermore, this endorsement will bolster the overall sustainability and ESG strategy of companies, fostering the creation of innovative products and services and contributing to the development of a more sustainable and inclusive leadership culture. Institutionalized exchanges between the social economy, private, and public sectors are crucial to facilitating the widespread adoption of these successful principles into business practices through voluntary pilots and subsequent regulatory changes mandating implementation if deemed appropriate.

It is in light of these considerations that SAP was also committed to the Rise Ahead Pledge hosted by the Global Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship and its +100 members. The announcement of this Pledge is scheduled during the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2024 in Davos. It will provide a collaborative opportunity for partnering with other companies and public sector representatives to forge new social innovation partnerships, scale impact, and gain increased visibility for commitments.

The Pledge is also anticipated to serve as an inspiration for others to follow suit, creating new opportunities to launch and scale social innovation initiatives in the coming years. By committing to the sector, businesses can

rally support and generate enthusiasm within their organization for social innovation, thereby unlocking the creativity and energy of their workforce and recognizing the role of social innovation in business and social transformation processes.

Social Enterprise World Forum

As social procurement is crucial for supporting the social and solidarity economy, while also fostering the development of resilient, sustainable supply chains, SAP has invested in the Social Enterprise World Forum’s (SEWF) Social Enterprise People and Planet First Verification, powered by Good Market. This initiative aims to establish global standards for recognizing organizations that genuinely prioritize both people and the planet. The collaboration addresses challenges such as identity verification for social enterprises, ensuring their authenticity, and preventing greenwashing. The goal is to encourage corporations to procure from social businesses that are committed to making a positive impact on both people and the planet.

As an initial step, social enterprises who are active on the SAP Business Network – the world's largest B2B procurement network – will be able to verify themselves as a SEWF verified social enterprise on the SAP Business Network. Our goal is to make it easier for buyers to find quality goods and services from suppliers that are reinvesting profits to support people and planet first, and as an added benefit, helping corporations meet sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and diversity and inclusion goals.

This was promoted at the Social Enterprise World Forum 2023 (SEWF23) which aimed to minimize the impacts of climate change and political upheaval by supporting social enterprises. The global event convened over 2,000 participants from 80 countries in Amsterdam, both physically and virtually, exploring critical topics such as social procurement, the circular economy, and AI technology. With a focus on people and planet, the event provided a platform for visionaries, innovators, and changemakers to collaborate on sustainable solutions for pressing global challenges.

SEWF23 highlighted how social enterprises disrupt the status quo through channeling resources and determination into meaningful projects that offer tangible solutions to planet-wide problems. The event concluded with a renewed sense of hope, emphasizing that prioritizing people and planet can pave the way for a fairer and more sustainable future. In the face of climate emergencies and political strife, SEWF23 reinforced the notion that change is attainable, urging collective efforts to construct a world guided by compassion and sustainability for the well-being of future generations.

Christian Klein, CEO at SAP and Board Member of Generation Unlimited. “ ”

SAP equips youth with key skills to equip them for any eventuality in a rapidly changing world by focusing on three essential skill areas: entrepreneurial skills, digital skills, and 21st-century skills. Fostering these competencies enables young people to be agile and adaptable, ready for future transformations. This comprehensive skill set empowers youth for lifelong learning and success in an evolving global environment.

and economic advancement and growth. Providing quality education to youth in need enables them to overcome hurdles posed by inequality, leading to gainful employment in the sustainable and digital economy.

This not only improves individuals' financial health but also strengthens community well-being, creating a sustainable path from education to employment and nurturing a more inclusive workforce. The strategic importance of equipping young people with the skills they need for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship is crucial.

SAP Educate to Employ

SAP Educate to Employ originated out of SAP’s global commitment to supporting UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited (GenU) initiative. This program is designed to provide youth in need across various countries with essential skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values necessary to succeed in the digital and green economy. It focuses on equipping young people with skills through training and learning opportunities, to enhance their employability and connect them with jobs within the SAP ecosystem and the broader digital job market

In 2019, the UNICEF, GenU, and SAP partnership launched in India, Turkiye, and Vietnam. Since then, the collaboration has equipped over 7.6 million young people in these regions with crucial digital skills training. Building on the success of the initial phase, the partnership expanded in 2022 to include Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, and South Africa. This next phase of the partnership aims to provide opportunities for over one million young adults through an inclusive and innovative skills development program that operates in tandem with YOMA (Youth Agency Marketplace). At the same time, this alliance launched the SAP Educate to Employ (E2E) initiative, a ‚learn to earn‘ pathway aimed at equipping youth

in need with essential Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes, and Values for success in the digital economy.

Since early 2023, 350,000 young people have gained access to learning and earning opportunities through YOMA, with over 70,000 new sign-ups on the platform. The SAP E2E initiative offers specialized training for three key roles in the SAP Ecosystem—Consultant Associate, Developer Associate, and Support Associate. It incorporates educational content from Coursera, Accenture, EY, Google, and SAP Learning, and is supported by the African SAP User Group (AFSUG) for skill demand planning and internship opportunities.

The SAP E2E program has seen significant interest, with 15,000 applicants for 400 SAP scholarships. As part of the shortlisting process, over 1,000 African youths had completed the SAP Beginner Course, "Boost Your Career with SAP Skills," and over 500 had finished the first 50-hour segment of their YOMA journey.

Digital Skills Initiatives Across the Globe

At SAP, we understand that the future will require digital skills, which is why our signature initiatives aim to equip youth from all backgrounds with these, including coding and programming. These have been deployed across various regions such as Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Having achieved noteworthy results in each of these regions, as of the end of 2023 we will sunset these initiatives and shift our focus towards learning to earning pathways to empower today's workforce. As we shift our strategy in 2024, we are proud to share the 2023 results of these programs:

Meet and Code:

Organized by Haus des Stiftens and TechSoup Europe, along with their respective country partners in their network, Meet and Code is a civil society initiative in Europe, dedicated to educating children and youth with digital skills.

95%

Latin Code Week helped 95% of its mentors develop their leadership skills.

The program strives to conquer the digital divide and introduce youth from diverse backgrounds to the exciting world of technology and codingacquiring digital skills accessible and inclusive for underserved individuals. This is executed via engaging workshops and events hosted by non-profit organizations (NPOs) across Europe, which receive micro-grants funded through Meet and Code.

In 2023, the initiative witnessed a record-breaking surge, with 57,200 participants actively engaging in 1,300 workshops across 703 cities spanning 25 European countries, with support provided to 739 NPOs. Of the participants, 47% came from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds, and 41% were female.

As we work towards supporting those facing socio-economic challenges, we are proud that 43% of those who took part came from low-income

households, 22% had a migration background, and 11% were refugees. The impact on their coding knowledge was substantial, with over 72% acknowledging that the event they attended significantly contributed to their understanding of coding, underlining the educational value of the initiative.

Meet and Code also played a pivotal role in empowering NPOs, with 65% of events made possible through the microgrants that were provided. Their satisfaction with the program was evident, with over 80% stating that this year's program fully met their expectations, while more than 83% considered their events successful.

Africa Code Week:

Spearheaded by SAP in 2015 in partnership with UNESCO, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and Irish Aid, Africa Code Week (ACW) aims to drive sustainable growth in Africa through a digital skills development initiative for both students and educators.

By 2023, ACW engaged 14.6 million participants, introducing students to key digital skills essential for tomorrow’s tech workplace. The gender-sensitive program reached primary and secondary school students across 48 African countries, 46% of which were girls, and promoted the integration of coding and computational thinking into seven national curricula, advancing SDGs 4: Quality Education, 5: Gender Equality, and 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

By empowering a new generation of youth with the education, knowledge, and ICT skills needed to participate in the digital future, SAP’s program increases the likelihood that ACW beneficiaries will realize higher earnings during their working life. Based on future increased income, Common Good Marketplace estimates that ACW catalyzed up to $1 billion* in Social Value for program participants.

The final ACW Ceremony occurred in Tunis on 15 December 2023 and was hosted by His Excellency Mr Mohamed Ali El Boughdiri, Minister of Education of Tunisia. In his opening address, the Minister highlighted the alignment of initiatives such as ACW with Tunisian educational policies.

Latin Code Week:

A collaborative effort between SAP and JA Americas that guides thousands of young Latin Americans toward technology careers and future leadership roles by providing them with skills to devise innovative solutions with a social impact to create sustainable business models.

In 2023, the program trained over 2,400 students from nine countries in the LAC Region: Argentina, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, Colombia, and Costa Rica. This accomplishment was made possible through the support of over 120 SAP mentors.

This year's projects were centered around the theme of energy efficiency. The standout project of 2023, Ecoyupana, hails from Peru and is an app designed to reduce electricity bills by engaging users in challenging games and providing educational resources on efficient electricity usage.

An evaluation of the Latin Code Week program revealed that the students successfully overcame theoretical and real-life challenges. This boosted their confidence and 87% of them felt proud to demonstrate their standout knowledge and abilities. 88% of the youth indicated that they were able to develop their communication skills during the program and 74% of participants expressed that it significantly heightened their interest in pursuing a career in technology. Additionally, 88% are now keener on using technology in their everyday lives. Additionally, 95% of mentors acknowledged that the program helped develop their leadership skills.

As we reflect on the impact of our global coding and digital skills initiatives, it is evident that we have successfully equipped youth worldwide with essential skills for the future. Going forward, we will ensure that underserved and underrepresented adolescents and young adults across the globe are armed with the necessary skills for employment.

Edunet Foundation is a social enterprise that focuses on bridging the academia-industry divide, enhancing student employability, promoting innovation, and creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.

SAP has partnered with Edunet to support colleges in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The partnership aims to drive direct skilling for approximately 2,250 young graduates, focusing on deep-tech platform technologies. By establishing industry pathways, the program is designed to significantly enhance the employability of these graduates, with a targeted goal of 60% of eligible students receiving job or internship opportunities upon successful completion and certification.

Additionally, the partnership extends its impact by providing hands-on training programs for 150 teachers, enriching their technical capacity, and ensuring a ripple effect of enhanced knowledge within the educational ecosystem.

This joint initiative not only addresses the immediate skills gap but also lays the foundation for a more skilled workforce, contributing to the broader goal of building a technologically adept and job-ready talent pool in the region.

In 2023, Edunet Foundation under the Code Unnati program, had successfully trained 268 faculty members, 3,339 students, while 584 students from the previous batches have been successfully placed in aspirational jobs, despite a slowdown in the job market.

Tech Saksham program

The Tech Saksham Program (TSP) is a joint skilling program between SAP in India and Microsoft along with implementing partner, Edunet Foundation, which aims to support underserved communities in building careers in technology.

Initiated in 2021, the program's primary objective was to boost the employability of women pursuing higher education in fields such as sciences, computer applications, and engineering. It aimed to achieve this by imparting crucial skills necessary for securing jobs in the market. In the initial two years, the program successfully trained 6,805 girls. As of now, the total number of faculty members trained stands at 1,531.

Going forward, the program plans to train up to 6,000 students and while there will be a shift towards gender neutrality, the primary focus will remain on encouraging women‘s participation. Simultaneously, it strives to collaborate with government partners at national and state levels to train up to 2,000 faculty members. Leveraging a cascade model through a Learning Management System (LMS), the initiative seeks to indirectly impact 60,000 students.

To highlight innovation, it plans to showcase the top 50 technical solutions developed during the program, each of which must address real-world problems. Through these multifaceted objectives, the program aspires to create a substantial and lasting impact on both students and the broader educational ecosystem.

What began as the Robot Experience Day at Hope School in 2008 evolved into a Robotics Curriculum in 2020 extending to multiple schools with specific support needs.

As of June 2023, approximately 643 students and teachers from around 20 schools have benefited from this innovative curriculum. The project's success is attributed to the collaborative efforts within the SAP ecosystem, involving close engagement with NGOs and SAP partners. Over 60 developers from SAP Labs China played a pivotal role in course development, teaching, and organizing sustainability-focused solution competition games, collectively contributing more than 2,200 volunteer hours to make this initiative a reality.

Laboratoria

Recognizing the gender gap in tech, Laboratoria offers a specialized six-month bootcamp for women in vulnerable situations. Using a project-based agile classroom, the program equips students for roles as Web Developers or UX Designers. Graduates are then connected with companies seeking diverse talent, enabling them to launch successful careers and improve their futures.

Together with SAP, Laboratoria implements two initiatives:

• Intelligent Enterprise Program: In 2022, the SAP Mexico and Laboratoria teams successfully concluded a pilot initiative through which 50 Laboratoria graduates from various countries received a practical introduction to SAP technologies. A group of 15 participants completed the technical challenge component of the program where they could apply their knowledge and present their work to a panel of SAP clients and partners. In 2023, the second edition was implemented with a new group of 40 graduates from the LAC region.

• Job Application Program: Through this initiative, SAP volunteers supported over 30 Laboratoria students as they prepared for their job searches by providing the necessary feedback and tools to develop competitive advantages. Mentoring sessions focused on compiling

resumes, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, putting together portfolios and mock interviews. These sessions took place for at least one hour a week over four weeks.

Digital Cultivation Program

The China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization founded in March 1989 in Beijing. The CYDF works to develop Chinese youth through education, science and technology, culture, physical education, health, and environmental protection.

In a significant stride towards addressing China's digital talent gap, SAP has joined forces with the CYDF to launch the CSR Digital Talent Cultivation program. This initiative is strategically designed to focus on underdeveloped regions, aiming to upskill educators, enhance students' capabilities, and create employment opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The CSR program is set to deliver a comprehensive series of SAP digital and intelligent technology to tertiary institutions, featuring flagship solutions such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud. This educational endeavor, supported by 46 SAP volunteers who dedicated 750 hours, partners, and the Chinese S/4HANA Cloud textbook, seeks to equip students with essential digital skills, augment their employability, and bridge the ever-growing gap between industry demand and the available talent pool.

The program gained momentum with its official inauguration during Christian Klein's visit to China on July 10, 2023, where he shared SAP's global vision for digital talent development. This visionary program is the result of a collaborative effort from 10 cross-departmental teams and is poised to enable 100 institutes to educate 100,000 youth over the next three years.

The program has reached 37 tertiary institutions, providing essential digital training to 41 educators with a total of 5,054 students having undergone training under the program.

In a move to align education with industry needs, the program recruited 12 trainers/mentors from SAP's extensive customer base and has successfully created 16 internship positions, offering students real-world exposure and experience. With these achievements as a testament to the program's efficacy, the SAP and CYDF collaboration aims to cultivate a robust ecosystem for digital talent development in China, ultimately contributing to the nation's technological advancement and global competitiveness.

Collaborate for Sustainability

In 2023, SAP employees dedicated over

140,000 volunteer hours, of which 74% were skills-based.

47,300 colleagues registered on our internal SAP Together volunteering and donation platform.

Did you know:

By 2050, it is predicted that over 1 billion people could be displaced due to environmental upheavals, with nearly two billion children facing increased health risks from intense heat.

The Collaborate for Sustainability focus area of SAP's CSR framework focuses on opportunities and partnerships driving environmental sustainability. This is due to the company’s recognition that environmental, economic, and social factors are interconnected and any adverse impact on economic

or ecological systems can have far-reaching consequences for social systems, especially affecting marginalized communities.

Embracing this delicate balance, we acknowledge the necessity of a holistic approach. To address both current and future needs, SAP collaborates with other sustainabilityfocused initiatives, emphasizing a partnership-driven strategy to mitigate the looming threat of climate change.

Sustainability Purpose Initiatives

21 Million Trees by the End of 2025

In 2023 alone, SAP's commitment to environmental stewardship bore fruit, or more accurately, trees, with over 1.6 million donated saplings finding their roots, contributing to a total of over 16.3 million trees planted since 2012. The company aims to plant 21 million trees by the end of 2025, channeling its support into tree planting and ecosystem restoration through corporate donations, innovative initiatives, and investments in carbon offsets for emissions that are currently unavoidable.

SAP employees actively engage with the journey toward the 21 million trees goal through the Tree Tracker dashboard using SAP Analytics Cloud and offering a transparent view of progress and data on supported restoration projects. As a proud member of 1t.org, a corporate alliance dedicated to conserving, restoring, and growing one trillion trees by 2030, SAP is at the forefront of global efforts for reforestation.

Examples of SAP's impactful partnerships and planting activities in 2023 include:

• ReForest Now in New South Wales (NSW), Australia

- Continuing its support for the Australian charity ReForest Now, SAP played a significant role in the restoration of critically endangered rainforests in NSW through a donation that contributed to the planting of trees at the Banyula site near Clunes, NNSW. This vast planting site utilises over 180 native species, serves to revive a biodiverse and protected rainforest, and combats climate change. One section of the site alone covers 7kms of the Wilson's River, a 1.5 hour walk end to end. The site is arguably the largest, most biodiverse

BirdLife’s

rainforest planting in Australia at this time. It directly connects to a 12 hectare remnant of the ancient forest called 'the Big Scrub' which was 99.6% cleared around 170 years ago. "Last year ReForest Now added almost 20% total rainforest cover to the former Big Scrub. With potent supporters like SAP engaged in solving this problem, we are actually going to achieve the vision, the rainforest will indeed be brought back to life. " Maximo Bottaro, ReForest Now CEO said.

• Trillion Trees Collaboration with BirdLife International in Bolivia - In collaboration with Trillion Trees, a joint venture of three conservation organizations, SAP supported BirdLife International and local conservationists in a project aimed at planting, monitoring, and protecting polylepis trees to restore the high-Andean forests in Bolivia’s Tunari National Park. This unique ecosystem, vital to local communities and the global climate, had witnessed over 90% depletion due to factors such as cattle grazing, forest fires, and unsustainable harvesting. The reforestation initiative aims to safeguard the forest's role as a natural carbon sink, prevent soil erosion, and ensure glacial meltwater reaches millions who depend on it for agriculture and drinking.

• The Carbon Community in Wales, UK - SAP also provided donations to support scientific research into carbon sequestration by The Carbon Community in Wales, UK. This organization's mission revolves around optimizing nature-based solutions to combat climate change. SAP's contributions have supported a groundbreaking carbon study, the world's first of its kind, exploring ways to help trees to grow faster and accelerate carbon sequestration in trees and soil.

The conversation delved into the crucial work of activists who are shaping the narrative around climate action. By providing a platform for these visionaries, SAP and ChangemakerXchange aim to amplify their voices and showcase the impactful projects they lead. The session highlighted not only the challenges faced by these innovators but also the innovative solutions they bring to the table.

As the climate crisis continues to unfold, the importance of fostering a community that encourages collaboration, knowledgesharing, and resource accessibility cannot be overstated. SAP and ChangemakerXchange's joint efforts embody a commitment to creating meaningful and positive change, demonstrating that when like-minded individuals come together, they have the power to drive transformative action.

SAP and ChangemakerXchange Host Transformative Event in Latin America

SAP and ChangemakerXchange held an event for 22 climate changemakers including 17 women from 13 countries across Central and South America to promote human connection, peer learning, and opportunities for collaboration.

To bolster their impact, participants were provided with access to various platforms, including the TRANSFORM Support Hub, and opportunities, like applying for cross-border collective action funds dedicated to initiatives strengthening the youth-led response to the planetary crisis in Latin America.

A unique aspect of this initiative lies in its participatory funding approach whereby a panel of young changemakers from the region will review applications and recommend projects for funding, ensuring that the support aligns with the community's needs and aspirations. Notably, three individuals from the cohort seized the chance to present their work to 46 SAP staff, both in person and online. The success of this interaction has sparked interest in further exploring online engagements, highlighting a growing desire to continue expanding the impact of this community.

Reflecting on their experiences, participants expressed their gratitude for the supportive environment. One changemaker emphasized the significance of addressing shared socio-environmental challenges, envisioning it as a crucial platform for unity and strength.

Another spoke about the transformative experience of being cared for as an individual while being able to connect with like-minded Latin Americans who share similar experiences. The facilitators were commended for creating a safe, interesting, and caring space that catalyzed personal growth and organizational development.

The emphasis on unifying regional visions and forging alliances with Latin American leaders was highlighted as a key takeaway. In the words of one participant, "This space has to continue and reach more agents of change in Latin America because it is very necessary to create such a community."

Korea's Upcycling Wooden Chopsticks Project

SAP Korea and SAP Labs Korea employees took part in an initiative to promote environmental sustainability by upcycling both used and unused wooden chopsticks.

In collaboration with a local upcycling startup called OROT Company, these chopsticks were transformed into boards and other products, effectively reducing waste. In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, SAP Korea and SAP Labs Korea, under the newly launched organization SPG, orchestrated a campaign to encourage sustainable practices among employees.

From April 17 to 28, employees actively participated in a collective effort to gather wooden chopsticks, whether new or used. Collection bins were strategically placed on various cafeteria floors for easy disposal. Using a QR code and a brief survey, participants recorded the quantity of chopsticks deposited. The chopsticks were then sent to OROT Company, where they underwent a transformative process— washing, drying, heating, compression, and woodblock creation. This process repurposed the chopsticks into material suitable for interior panels.

The campaign's core objective was to motivate employees to collect and repurpose wooden chopsticks into useful or valuable items, diverting them from becoming mere waste. By embracing upcycling, the initiative aimed to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and stimulate creativity and innovation among employees. The campaign saw impressive participation, with a total of 3,222 chopsticks collected, representing 6% of SAP employees in Korea who actively engaged in the sustainable initiative.

Earth Day Celebrations Across Germany

In collaboration with Social Impact Award (SIA), SAP in Germany hosted a Pro-Bono Consulting Challenge dedicated to social enterprises with an environmental sustainability focus. This virtual event brought together corporate marketing experts from SAP and eight social enterprises from Europe and Africa. The 90-minute consulting session addressed a diverse range of challenges, including market entry, branding, targeted marketing, and community engagement – all crucial for the sustained impact and growth of these enterprises.

Several business hurdles were presented during the session. Reform Africa from Uganda, specializing in transforming plastic waste into durable bags, sought guidance on a successful market entry strategy and brand identity. ClimateMind from Germany wanted to enhance its social media presence and expand the ClimateMind Academy outreach. Gardenthe, a Croatian green brand,

faced obstacles in market positioning, target audience identification, and communication channels. In a proactive move against plastic pollution, SAP colleagues in Hamburg collaborated with Clean Up Your Alster, an organization dedicated to environmental cleanliness.

Despite adverse weather conditions, 11 SAP employees gathered over 50 kg of litter in just two hours, emphasizing the impact of unity in combating plastic waste. Clean Up Your Alster regularly organizes cleanup events, fostering a sense of community among participants dedicated to enhancing the city's beauty.

Meanwhile, colleagues in Walldorf joined forces with Pro-Waldschutz, an association committed to nature conservation and landscape preservation in the Sandhausen Hardtwald. Focused on combating invasive species, particularly the pokeweed, the team of 15 SAP colleagues actively reclaimed a portion of the forest, contributing to the growth of new woodland and protecting biodiversity.

These campaigns featured plog runs - a fusion of jogging or walking while collecting litter along the route - drawing a combined total of 180 registrations and successfully collecting over 300 kilograms of debris.

A plog run offers multiple benefits—it provides a healthy dose of exer cise, an opportunity to relish the outdoors, and simultaneously has a positive impact on the environment. The initiative was designed not only to foster environmental responsibility and awareness but to also enhance individuals' physical and mental well-being by seamlessly integrating plog runs into their exercise routines, such as their morning walks or runs.

Empowering Youth for Climate Action Through Collaboration

In 2020, as the world came to an abrupt standstill, individuals and corporations underwent profound

reassessments. Similarly, the SAP CSR team embarked on an evaluation of how its financial and nonfinancial support could authentically contribute to making the world run better and improve people‘s lives. A resounding realization emerged – forging a more equitable, just, and sustainable future necessitates the active involvement of future leaders at the decision-making table.

In collaboration with esteemed partners such as We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), ChangemakerXchange, and UNICEF, SAP CSR underwent a shift in shaping its impact strategy. This extended beyond internal recalibrations and influenced how the entire company engages in major global events, from the UN General Assembly Week in New York City to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Fast forward to 2023, and SAP played a pivotal role in convening nearly 70 young innovators from diverse corners of the globe at these influential gatherings, catalyzing the acceleration of world-changing solutions. This strategic shift underscores SAP's commitment not only to redefining its CSR impact but also to actively fostering the emergence of a new generation of leaders dedicated to creating a positive global impact.

Youth To The Table

This year, at the United Nations General Assembly 78 (UNGA) and Conference of the Parties 28 (COP28), we highlighted our long-standing partnership with the We are Family Foundation (WAFF). Through the organization’s Youth To The Table (YTTT) program, SAP contributes to inter-generational dialogues that empower young changemakers. YTTT’s role in bringing young individuals to the forefront of pivotal global discussions — including UNGA, COP, and WEF — reinforces our joint belief in fostering meaningful opportunities for youth to influence decision-making processes across sectors. SAP sponsored a delegation of 10 young social innovators representing eight countries such as South Africa, North Macedonia, Brazil, Ireland, the U.S., and Brazil to UNGA week. The delegates participated in more than 80+ spaces throughout the event.

At COP28, SAP enabled and engaged 50 young climate leaders from ChangemakerXchange (CxC), We Are Family Foundation (WAFF), UNICEF GenerationUnlimited (GenU), Goodwall to have hundreds of engagements. Out of the 50, SAP financed 25 young leaders from CxC and WAFF to be at COP28 with 10 being invited to SAP CEO Reception.

Reflecting on her ChangemakerXChange experience, she shares, “Participating in the ChangemakerXChange program has been an inspiring journey for me. I've had the opportunity to meet remarkable women who are deeply involved in the climate movement, and they have served as a source of inspiration. The lessons I've learned through this engagement highlight the power of collaboration, innovation, and the pivotal role of youth and women in shaping a more sustainable future.”

Daccache, a passionate AI enthusiast, is making significant strides with his project 'RECYCLER' in Lebanon, focusing on solid waste management, sustainable innovation, agriculture, and environmental education. ChangemakerXChange has provided him with the platform to collaborate with global, like-minded individuals and organizations dedicated to tackling urgent climate challenges. Daccache says, “My experience has reinforced the belief that youth can be

a formidable force for change. Despite my age, I‘ve seen firsthand that dedication, innovation, and a commitment to sustainable practices can make a meaningful impact on our environment and inspire others to join the climate action movement. I see the climate crisis as not just a challenge, but also an opportunity for transformation. It's a chance to rethink our relationship with the planet, transition to cleaner and more equitable systems, and create a future that is not only sustainable but thriving. My vision is to leave this world better than I found it.”

Green Rising

Initiated by UNICEF and Generation Unlimited in collaboration with other partners, Green Rising champions children- and youth-led grassroots climate action, facilitating a swift and equitable transition to a low-carbon economy. The overarching goal is to directly involve 10 million youth, with a particular focus on girls, in actionable initiatives by 2025. SAPs 2023 collaboration with Goodwall and Accenture has already launched impactful digital challenges, including #ClimateAction, #DigitalCleanUp, and #GoingZero, drawing participation from 15,000 dynamic youth.

Central to Green Rising is a reskilling endeavor designed to channel the energy and concerns of youth into potent, informed action. Recognizing the prevalence of “eco-anxiety” affecting 57% of global youth, the initiative acknowledges that empowerment arises from providing these young minds with the ability to transform worries into wisdom and fears into a force for good. By fostering climate literacy and cultivating green skills, Green Rising goes beyond creating activists; it nurtures future leaders, problem solvers, and innovators poised to shape a sustainable world across domains like biodiversity, air quality, water conservation, and waste management.

enabler, SAP seeks to position itself as a leader by example in the realm of sustainability.

At the heart of the One for More campaign, a mobile app developed by SAP volunteers provided a platform for employees to integrate various sustainable practices into their daily lives. These actions were rewarded with carbon credits that could be exchanged for products from endorsed social enterprises, aligning sustainability with personal well-being.

The One for More sustainability program achieved significant milestones over six months, including:

• CO2 emissions reduced by 91.5 tonnes through walking, clothes recycling, exchange of used goods, conservation of water and electricity, and minimizing the use of disposable items.

• A donation of 3,000 eco-friendly school bags to children of Project Hope primary schools, fostering education and sustainability simultaneously. The school bags were made by Zhao Run Clothing Technology Company in Hebei province, which is a social enterprise employing people with different abilities.

• Combating desertification by donating 5,000 kg of used clothes to a recycling partner that plans to plant a drought-resistant shrub forest in Minqin County, Gansu Province.

• A team of 17 colleagues, drawn from diverse functions and geographies, contributed 590 volunteer hours developing and executing a range of employee engagement activities.

Spotlighting Social Enterprises with SAP’s Social Sabbatical

By targeting under-resourced communities, social enterprises in the sustainability sector are supported through SAP’s Social Sabbatical where employees provide their expertise to address critical business challenges for these enterprises, stimulating job creation and strengthening business acumen for them, leading to a multiplier effect within communities.

Here are a few examples of 2023 Social Sabbatical host clients that demonstrate how accelerating circular business models leads to lasting societal change:

• Morivert is addressing local deforestation in Mauritius by upcycling used paper into a variety of products for local institutions such as hotels, banks, and schools. As a result of personnel constraints following increased demand for their products, Morivert struggled with handling these business challenges. The Social Sabbatical team delivered a SWOT analysis, business process improvements, and a five-year business plan to help the company achieve its growth targets.

• SeaSkin Morocco is a social enterprise dedicated to recycling fish waste and transforming it into organic bio-fish leather products including meticulously crafted accessories, as well as both wearable and static items. SeaSkin recognizes fish skin as a virtuous alternative to traditional leathers, especially those sourced from exotic animals and reptiles, which are rarer and contribute to a limited supply chain. The core objective of SeaSkin extends beyond sustainable product creation. The enterprise aims to establish an ecosystem that fosters stable employment opportunities for women and youth, provides supplemental income for fishermen, contributes to environmental preservation through the recycling of fish waste, and supports artisans by generating new orders. What sets SeaSkin apart is its unique value proposition that resonates with both consumers and communities. The company is committed to

using ecologic fish leather, minimizing environmental impact, and employing only organic products in the coloring, tanning, and waterproofing processes. By doing so, SeaSkin not only delivers high-quality, ecofriendly products but also actively participates in creating positive social and environmental change.
