When you connect with something beautiful that you love, you open up parts of yourself that have been neglected and forgotten – parts that have been crying out for years to be heard . . .and healed.

That is how it was for me.

Almost like a powerful meditation, I discovered that the act of painting and connecting with art had the power to heal me.

During a physically and emotionally challenging time in my life, art became an incredibly powerful vehicle to change my life. It also became a way for me to help others elevate their lives in unexpected ways.

"IN MY 40’S, I MOVED TO SAN DIEGO AFTER SELLING MY INTERIOR DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURAL FIRM. I WAS SO RUN DOWN FROM STRESS AND WORKING A BIL-ZILLION HOURS A WEEK, THAT I COULD BARELY WALK TWO BLOCKS WITHOUT NEEDING TO NAP. AS I LAY IN BED ONE MORNING LISTENING TO THE WAVES, , I HEARD TWO WORDS – ‘OIL PAINTING’."

WHY FLOWERS? Cheerful, loving, serene, healing, beautiful – happy – flowers are an expression of some of the emotions we all long to feel and share with others every day.

As a young girl, I played in the fields of wildflowers near our house. Each day as I bound home, I would bring home a fresh hand-picked bouquet of daisies, buttercups or Queen’s Anne’s Lace as a gift for my mother. It always brought a smile to her face and I loved the way I could easily and simply share a moment with her.

As I grew older, sending my mom flowers became a tradition for birthdays, holidays, or Mother’s Day. Always daisies. And, in 2010 when she was diagnosed with cancer, I sent her daisies every other week – as a reminder of my love for her.

Flowers were always the way I connected with my mother, so when she passed it was only natural that the only thing that I could paint, was flowers. It was as if she was reminding me that I was on the right track. A little piece of what we shared goes into every piece of art that I paint.
