Q:Ifyourartworkcouldtalk,whatwoulditsayaboutyouasanartistandasaperson?
A: If my artwork could speak about me as an artist, my artwork would tell of the deep and personal connection I forge with each canvas, brushstroke, and paint. It would reveal the careful planning and inner thoughts transferred from my heart, to my hand, to the brush Through it all, my commitment to honesty, audacity, and loyalty to my ideals and values would be evident, serving as a guide throughout my creative journey.
If my artwork could speak about me as a person, it would portray me as someone who is persistent, a perfectionist who pours her heart and soul into every project. It would highlight my creativity, practicality, and passion, as well as my curiosity, out of the box thought process and occasional irreverence.

Q: What inspired you to pursue art as a profession in San Antonio, and how has living and working in this cityinfluencedyourcreativeprocess?
A: My journey with art started nearly 20 years ago when I moved to San Antonio and got a job at the Mexican Cultural Institute affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico. This job introduced me to the local art scene, allowing me the opportunity to meet various artists, understand the curatorial processes, and also get inspired by cultural advocates. These experiences really fueled my love for art.
Working at the museum, I had the chance to meet famous artists like Botero and Sebastián and writers like Carlos Fuentes Being around these inspiring people left a lasting impact on me, and how I see art. Looking back, I can see how those early years shaped who I am as an artist San Antonio's lively art community and diverse culture continue to inspire me and help me grow as an artist.

Q: Many artists have a special ritual or routine before they start creating. Can you share an unusualorunexpectedpre-creationritualyouhave?
A: My creative routine involves a lot of planning, influenced by my background in Marketing and Graphic Design. Before I start painting, I enjoy researching the subject to give my work a solid foundation and meaning I have a strong desire to create art that comes from the heart Usually the concepts come from personal beliefs, desire to honor my heritage and hope to leave a meaningful footprint in this world.
I plan, sketch, and visualize my ideas thoroughly before I begin painting. This process helps me bring my vision to life on the canvas with passion and intention.
I take pleasure in creating art that sparks interpretation What I find particularly rewarding is the unexpected and surprising range of interpretations people offer when encountering my work. I love getting to know my clients, understanding their stories, and capturing their unique essence in my artwork from the first conversation to the final brushstroke, listening to their ideas, preferences, and vision for their piece. I like to create pieces that truly resonate with them on a personal level
Keeping them involved and informed, sharing progress updates and seeking feedback is part of the ritual that ensures we will both be happy with the finished product

Q:Whathasbeenthebiggestchallengeyouhavefacedas anartistandhowdidyouovercomeit?
A: The biggest challenge I've faced as an artist has been overcoming self-doubt, worries about not meeting my own expectations or those of others One significant recent challenge I faced was participating in a solo exhibit at Parman Library. Sharing my art publicly felt like opening a small window into my heart, allowing the audience to peek inside. However, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to push myboundaries, inspiremydaughterstopursuetheirdreams, andshowcasemyworktoawideraudience
The positive feedback I received from the exhibit provided validation for my efforts and encouraged me to continue on thiscreativejourney.Asaresult,I'venoticedthatmanydoors have started to open for me, offering exciting new opportunitiesandavenuesformyartisticexpression
