PARK IMPROVEMENTS COMING TO OPAL JO JENNINGS AND BRIAN SCHWENGLER

Exciting changes are coming to two beloved Saginaw parks, thanks to funding from the 2021 Bond approved by voters in May 2021.

Both Opal Jo Jennings Memorial Park and Brian Schwengler Memorial Park are set to receive

much needed upgrades focused on accessibility, safety, and recreation. Improvements will include new all-inclusive playgrounds with shading tents, rubberized surfacing, new sidewalks, and park furniture.

At Brian Schwengler Memorial Park, a new half-court basketball court will replace the existing one. City Council is set to approve the building contract bid in May and construction is set to start in late summer 2025.

NEW REC CENTER

GYM FLOOR

ofthe ofthe

In early April, the Recreation Center had a fresh new floor installed The upgraded surface is ready for action and perfect for a variety of sports, including pickleball!! This upgrade was approved in 2024 by the Saginaw City Council

We have all driven past the grain elevators on Saginaw Blvd and wondered: Are they still open? The answer is yes! All of the grain elevators along Saginaw Blvd are open and fully operational. Fun fact: Saginaw has the largest concentration of grain elevators in Texas!

One of the mills, Miller Milling, recently expanded its operations in Saginaw It’s now the largest mill in Texas, producing 34,000 cwts of flour every day. That’s enough to feed 10 million people, or the entire population of Michigan, every single day!

HELLO...IS THIS THING ON??

This is the third edition of our quarterly newsletter and we’re excited to share it with you! We’ve worked out some of the bugs from the first two issues, and like they say, “third time’s the charm ” City Council allocated funds to pilot this mailed newsletter, and now we’d love to hear what you think. If you’re reading this, please scan the QR code and take a quick fourquestion survey to share your feedback.
