Section I: Manifesto

The Mom Community

We envision The Mom Community as a healing sanctuary, where new and expecting moms are supported during a transformational life event through access to housing, basic needs and a generous community.

Our proposal is inspired by cultures from around the world and a history of communal environments where women care for each other, fresh nutritious meals are provided to families, along with access to resources and networks of care are strategically designed to support holistic wellness

We aim for this project to offer:

• An ecology of uses that are amenities to metro Atlanta neighborhoods as well as the residents

• A diversity of housing types and people living on the site

• A safe haven community that supports its residents during a transitional and transformative time in their lives

• A sustainably designed structure that allows residents to live in a physically and mentally healthy environment

• A thoughtful mix of programs that provides mechanisms for mobility

The deepest human needs for growth and fulfillment are realized through cognitive understanding, aesthetic appreciation, personal actualization and a connection to a higher purpose outside of self. Purpose needs further refers to the pursuit of knowledge and creative expression. It involves personal improvement, reaching one’s goals and a higher motivation to help and bless others and spiritually connect with God. Though this is our highest need, it is a fundamental longing from the beginning that is divinely woven into each step of the journey. ~ Ephesians 2:10
