Introduction In this project, we are to describe building structure projects and apply the code practice for structure design. Therefore, we will be using our previous semesters design 3 works as a reference to be able to identify and apply the dead loads and live loads of the selected building to the design beam. Also, Using BS 8110, we will design the beam size and calculate the number of reinforcement required.

We will first draw out the structural plan of the first floor of our building. Using the structural plan, we will show the load distribution and calculate the loads acting on the beam. We will then determine the size of the beams and the number of reinforcements required.

Conclusion The calculations for beam 1 and beam 3 is the same, as both beams are of the same length with no adjacent spaces. For beam 2 and 4, the values are different as beam 4 has an adjacent space and hence there are loads from the adjacent space acting on the beam.

From all the calculations, it shows that the slab is a two-way slab as the ration is less than or equal to two. Also, it concludes that all the beams are singly reinforced beams.
