The Norfolk Dixieland Jazz Band’s popular monthly events at The Goat Inn, Skeyton, continue to draw enthusiastic audiences. The gigs are usually held on the first Sunday of the month but in April and May they will move to the second Sunday, ie 12 April and 10 May. We can also tell you that the band will perform at The Crown Inn, Banningham, on Easter Monday, 6 April. All gigs start at 1.30 p.m. Admission is free and you can simply drop in for a drink and enjoy the music at either venue but if you would like a table for lunch it is essential to book. Phil Brooke We are also pleased to tell you that Jazz at The Hub (the bar at Sheringham Little Theatre) continues to play to capacity audiences and Phil Brooke, one of the region’s finest guitarists, takes centre stage on Sunday 19 April at 7.30pm. Phil is highly regarded by other musicians. He is comfortable playing a variety of styles and he will re-visit the music of some of the exponents of the guitar in jazz trios. People such as Herb Ellis and Barney Kessel with Oscar Peterson, Tal Farlow and Jimmy Raney with Red Norvo and Oscar Moore with Nat Cole. He will be accompanied by two musicians who are no strangers to The Hub and are also amongst the best in their field, Simon Brown on piano and Ivars Galenieks on double bass. A highly talented trio.
