Pinhole Camera Photography

In this class, we’ll explore alternative photo processes in and out of the darkroom! We will make our own cameras out of recycle materials, focus on contact printing using the sun, and printing using found photographs

Introduction to Photography

This course provides an introduction to the 35mm camera and the basics of darkroom techniques. Learn how to use a 35mm camera, compose a photograph, develop film, and make a print in Pine Camp’s well equipped darkroom. Lecture, demonstrations, class assignments, critiques, and practical darkroom work will help you understand photography from shutter speed to finish print. Chemicals and paper provided. Limited number of cameras available.

Teen Frame Weaving

Create unique wall hangings on a simple and portable frame loom! Starting out with weaving and loom basics, this class is perfect for new weavers. Learn how to set up your loom, keep your sides

This class is a fun place for children ages 3-5 years old to learn in a relaxed, play based setting. This 45 minute class involves storytelling, a hands on craft related to the story, creative movement, and games. Children will use their imaginations and all their senses to connect with the story and with each other.

Family Fishing

Learn to tie fishing knots, where and how to cast and how to identify what you reel in. This course is focused on introducing new people to fishing and building introductory skills, but we welcome seasoned anglers as well. Participants over age 18 that wish to fish must have a valid VA Freshwater License; these are available online for $23 at https:// dgiflicense.virginiainteractive.org/.

Shad and Striper Fishing

Enjoy a pleasant afternoon of fishing for shad. If you are lucky, you might even catch a striper! This is a great way to celebrate the Spring season! Participation is limited to 8 participants. Rods and reels will be provided. All participants over the age of 16 must have a valid Virginia Fishing license, available online for $23 annually at https://www.dgif.virginia. gov/fishing/regulations/licenses/#fees

Family Fishing Fair

It’s Virginia’s annual free fishing week! Local fishing experts will teach basic freshwater catch-and-release fishing at this popular beginner-friendly event. Poles and tackle will be available on a first-come, firstserved basis. Be sure to bring bottled water, fishing poles, and a folding chair.

Belle Isle History Hike

Join us for a family friendly hike to one of Richmond’s historic gems, Belle Isle. Learn about the geologic and human history of the area and the role Richmond played in the development of our nation. Limited parking is available at 300 Tredegar Street. Additional parking can be found on adjacent streets. We will cover about one mile in this walk, on varying gravel terrain. Please wear comfortable, sturdy shoes for walking. This hike will cover mixed terrain; pavement and gravel with minimal elevation change.

Firefly Foray

Celebrate the summer with a fabulous display of fireflies! Fireflies emerge for a few weeks in the summer and use their bioluminescence to find a mate. Bring a chair or a picnic blanket to sit and enjoy this amazing natural show and learn about fireflies in our area.
