WHAT IS SUMMER LEARNING?
In the move from ‘Summer Reading’ to ‘Summer Learning,’ we are working to encourage lifelong learning with fun experiences. Summer Learning will work to close the achievement gap by providing active learning experiences that are positive, educational, and fun! Struggling readers are more likely to participate in hands-on activities with experiential approaches. Experiential learning helps with reading comprehension because when students have experience with a topic, they relate to it more, and therefore comprehend it better.
