National Library Lovers Month is celebrated for the entire month of February! The month is dedicated to the people who love the buildings, staff, and everything the library represents. This Kindergarten-readiness program is taught by experienced teachers and is an interactive learning experience for children and their caregiver(s). A fast-paced program for active toddlers. Wiggle, sing, read, play and build up social skills in a fun atmosphere!

THU, FEB 29 3 PM Join us for an afternoon of fun that only happens every four years! Not only will we celebrate with games and activities, we will write letters to our future selves to be opened on Leap Day 2028.

ROCK at the Springs MONDAYS 5 PM Have a “New Year, New You” resolution to practice more self care? Walking is a great way to boost your health, energy, and mood! Join RCPL’s Walking Club every Monday at the ROCK and bring a friend.

OPEN MAKERY MONDAYS 3 PM - 6 PM

Drop by RCPL’s Makery, and start the week with creativity/ purpose. Adults will get the opportunity to workshop projects using the various equipment and materials available.

COFFEE WITH VETERANS THU, FEB 8 9 AM - 11 AM

RCPL invites all local veterans to coffee and conversation with Kentucky Department of Veteran Affairs Service Officer Donald Walbert, Regional Administrator for Central Region. Come socialize with other veterans, get assistance with filing claims, and meet new people in a comfortable, private space. For more information, contact RCPL at (270) 343-7323.

MILK JUG GERMINATION THU, FEB 15 1 PM - 4 PM

Learn how this popular seed starting process works and what types of seeds are the most successful. Bring any seeds you would like to plant or pick some up at RCPL’s Seed Library! All supplies will be provided.

PUZZLE COMPETITION

SAT, FEB 24 10 AM - 12 PM Test your puzzle prowess! Teams of up to four players will compete to see who can put together an identical 500-piece jigsaw puzzle in the least amount of time.

CANVAS WALL PRINT & FRAME WORKSHOP MON, FEB 12 4:30 PM

In this workshop, participants will learn how to create personalized wall art using photos and RCPL’s large format printer. We will then make a simple frame to display your work. Materials will be provided. Each participant will receive one free 18”x24” canvas print. For more information, contact Angela at angela@russellcountylibrary.com.

Silent Book Club is a happy hour for introverts. Bring a book of your choice, then settle in for an hour or two of quiet reading with fellow book lovers. There are no assigned readings or discussion guides—the “silent” part of our book club—but we like to share book recommendations and meet like-minded readers.

LEAP YEAR TIME CAPSULE

Java Springs THU, FEB 29 4 PM - 6 PM Capture a snapshot of your life right now by making a fun and easy Leap Year time capsule. Supplies will be provided.

WE ARE EXCITED TO INTRODUCE OUR NEWEST OUTREACH EFFORT, LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES! Our first Little Free Library has been planted at Campbell’s Creelsboro Country Store. This service is available to all! We encourage anyone to borrow any books that interest them and return them to the Little Free Library at their convenience. You will also be able to find more information about the Russell County Imagination Library and your RCPL. Contact our Outreach Coordinator, Brenna Posey, at 270-343-7323 for more information. Get excited because more Little Free Libraries will be placed around the county in the coming year.
