Troubles After Work

I just finished my last patient of the day, went out of the clinic, and started to drive toward my house. Driving and singing, I saw a young man limping, he looked young, the night was dark so I didn't want him to be in danger and I stopped my car, roll down my window and moved my head to mean I could give him a ride saying.

Where are going? Do you need a ride?

He didn't doubt in any moment, after a few seconds he was right by my side, already in the car.

Thanks, man, just go straight and you'll find my house. He told me very happy.

After that, he tried to have a conversation with me but I'm not a person that like to talk a lot, even though I made an effort on conversate at list a little, however, I thought it was better to play some music, I looked at the place where bottles are put but it wasn't there.

Hey, could you check if my cellphone is on your sit? I asked him.

—It may be in your pants. —He proposed.

I had to park the car; I was about to check my pockets, but I felt something sharp in my neck. It was the young man, with his penknife chafing my neck.

I won't hurt you, man, I'll go but give me your watch too. He threatened.

The man was everything but scary, even so I just gave him the watch and he left the car faster. That watch was a gift of my son, and in that phone, I have photos of him.

Pew. My gun sounded.

I shot him in the shoulder. He fell down with a groan. He continued making noise while I was taking my things very calm, however, I looked up and saw two police officers heading towards me. Really?

4

It was obvious what they needed to do, I couldn't do anything, they saw how I shot him. After the two men told us our rights, silence dominated, I know it is better to say nothing. What confused me was the fact they also took him in the patrol with handcuffs, his face demonstrated too much pain, but the police didn't seem to care, and I care less honestly.

I didn't feel the long way because my brain couldn't stop thinking. When we arrived, we both got arrested in the same prison cell. It wasn't the first time I corrupt the law, they found out, I was being honest. I had nothing to lose, I didn't refuse, some time in prison sounds to me like no working, no worries, or I don't know, I think I'm not thinking clearly.

My thoughts were interrupted when the young man started to speak to himself.

Dang it, here again. He cursed.

So irritable but I also found it funny, he has a perforated shoulder, so vulnerable, why did they put us in the same cell? I mean, I could easily attack him without any problem and with all the desire, I have advantage but I'm not doing it, do I?

Fitness and toxic self-love

What is it?

For a long time the internet it has been shown that “self-love” is something beautiful and everything is pink, when the reality is another. The literal definition is “Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Selflove means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others”

Fitness has become a popular buzzword in recent years, with more and more people seeking to lead healthy and active lifestyles. There is no denying the importance of fitness in our lives - it helps us maintain physical and mental health, boosts our energy levels, and even contributes to our overall happiness. However, it is important to recognize that there is a thin line between healthy fitness habits and toxic self-love.

Toxic self-love can be defined as an excessive or unrealistic sense of self-worth or self-esteem. It is a mindset that focuses on the external validation of others, rather than on intrinsic motivation and self-acceptance. When it comes to fitness, toxic self-love manifests itself in a variety of ways. For example, it can lead to an obsession with body image and a desire to achieve an unrealistic "perfect" physique. It can also lead to unhealthy exercise habits, such as overexercising or using exercise as a way to punish oneself for perceived flaws.

The dangers of toxic self-love in the context of fitness are clear. They can lead to physical harm, such as over-exertion and injury, as well as mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Moreover, they can have a negative impact on our relationships with others, as our focus becomes entirely self-centered.

So, how can we strike a balance between fitness and healthy self-love? The key is to focus on intrinsic motivation and self-acceptance, rather than external validation. This means setting realisticfitness goals thatalignwith ourpersonal valuesandinterests, ratherthan trying to conform to societal norms or expectations. It also means cultivating a sense of self-compassion and selfcare, rather than self-criticism and punishment.

7

In addition to this, it is important to recognize that fitness is just one aspect of our lives, and should not be the sole focus of our attention. We must also prioritize other areas of our lives, such as our relationships, hobbies, and career goals. This helps us maintain a healthy balance, both physically and mentally.

In conclusion, fitness and toxic self-love are two concepts that are often intertwined, but it is important to recognize the difference between the two. By focusing on intrinsic motivation, selfacceptance, and a balanced approach to fitness, we can lead healthy and fulfilling lives without falling into the trap of toxic self-love. Ultimately, this leads to not only physical health but also a healthy mindset and a better quality of life.

Dahiana Acevedo Luis Alfaro Sofia Rodriguez 202 English II Alejandra Diaz Moreno 3/17/2023 12

One day there was a girl in the school who was at a cultural event. She was ina cultural class so she needed to participate and help their team. She spent all day at the event, after that at 12 o'clock a weird guy that she had never seen ever, told her if she wanted the milkshake that he bought. The milkshake was like if it was new,it wasn't open, it was intact and it wasn't touched, she accepted the offer and she drank it, she didn't feel sick.

She stayed in school until 6 o'clock. At 4 pm she started to feel bad, she felt sick, she started to feel dizzy with nauseas and her head hurt twenty minutes. She threw up and that milkshake was the only thing that she ate all day. Her dad was a great doctor, so she called him and told him about the situation. And his dad told her that he would not care about it, because she was old enough for that, but he was going totake her to the hospital.

When his dad arrived at the school she went to the car and her dad noticed that she was very very pale, so immediately he worried. When they were on the way to the hospital her dad was talking to her and he told her that she was going to be very grounded. When they arrived at the hospital she fainted, her dad called 3 doctors for help, he ordered to clean her stomach, the doctors call code blue that means that she is in a cardiac situation. Her heart was failing, she was losing her life, the doctors started to reanimate her, at the end she made it, after that they intubated her. She spent two days hospitalized, and all her friends and family visited her. Finally she needed surgery because her kidney was damaged, the hour of the surgery was going to be at 16:00. In the surgery there were complications and she had another heart attack. She was open in the surgical table, the doctor asked for internal paddles for reanimation. The doctors were 2 hours reanimating her and they could not bring her back to life, they indicated TIME OF DEAD 19:47, they finally needed totell the family. However, when the pirates began to gain the upper hand, the friends decided to flee the cave and find another place to hide. After a frantic race through the jungle, they arrived at a clearing where they found a small abandoned temple. The friends realized that the temple itself was a work of art, with carved reliefs on the walls and beautiful stone columns supporting the roof. In the center of the temple, they found a stone altar that seemed to be the perfect place to hide the treasure. After placing the treasure on the altar, the friendsprepared to defend it at all costs. However, as the night wore on, they realized that the pirates were no longer interested in fighting, and they finally withdrew. The friends stayed on the island for a few more days, enjoying the beauty of the place and celebrating their great discovery. Finally, they decided it was time to go home, but they left with the promise of returning someday to explore the island and its hidden treasures more fully.

THE MOON

With your light, You illuminate the sky, The stars adorn you, At the night, You reflect the light of others. Just as a son reflects the character of his mother.

To you, people carry their sorrows, Knowing that you will return tomorrow, The secret confessions, For the poet they make a great impression.

If we talk about love, The teachers above all, If you love the moon when it is so small, And if you love it when it’s full, At any moment you will see a person equally beautiful.

At every moment of the night, The moon it’s present, And when you disappear from its light, sooner or later, it appears at some moment.

Every day that I think of you, I remember the ink covering your skin like new, feeling your warmth when we link.

Your perfume reminds me of love when I see the light in your eyes, I float up like a dove, but that love it’s gone no matter how many tries.

I don’t know what to do to get me back to you.

I’ve got nothing left to lose;

I’m sadness, tears, and blues.

The memories we shared, now a distant past Haunt me like ghosts, each one more vast.

Then the last reminding me of what was once true, Now all that’s left is an empty, hollow hue.
