In Hindu mythology, Kalki is the prophesied tenth and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the avatar who is sent to earth to punish the wicked and rejuvenate existence by ending the dark and destructive period of Kali Yuga. Are you in year 7 - 11 with an interest in dance? Then Core Motion may be the group for you. Run in association with dance company Moving Together, you will work towards achieving an Arts Award Qualification which will allow you to explore and develop your dance skills through practical sessions and theoretical work. Practical sessions will explore a range of dance styles and creative approaches, with theoretical sessions exploring the wider dance industry inclusive of artists, performance reviews and leadership opportunities. Our lively and inclusive Sparks groups give children the opportunity to create new stories and characters, play drama games, build their confidence and make new friends.

Run by local theatre practitioner Kim Laughton, our weekly sessions nurture children’s creativity, giving them a chance to explore the performing arts and use their imaginations.

Every term culminates in a showcase where the children get to experience the magic of performing live theatre to an audience of family and friends.

We are able to offer a limited amount of places throughout the academic year for young people interested in experiencing different aspects of working in the theatre.

Bursaries

With thanks to revenue generated through Friends & Patron memberships, and donations from customers and Business Supporters, we are able to offer our Core Create and Sparks sessions at a reduced fee of £50 (usually £80). We also offer a sibling discount, so if you have two siblings taking part in activities, the termly fee for the second child/young person would only be £25. For families living with financial hardship, we would not want the termly fees to prevent your child or young person being able to take part, so, we have a limited amount of free, bursary-funded places. The Table Read Sessions

• Are you a UK-based theatre maker with a new play in development?

Working in partnership with The Playwright’s Laboratory, we are seeking new plays for a monthly series of table read sessions in our Lab studio theatre space. Your play will be worked on for a day with professional actors and a director before a live table read in the evening.

Ignition is Frantic Assembly’s free nationwide talent development programme, open to all young people aged 16-24, seeking out under-represented talent in unexpected places.

This Autumn, Frantic Assembly will be travelling across the UK to deliver free taster and trial workshops in association with their 13 regional partners.

Frantic Ignition’s high-energy taster and trial workshops are facilitated for young people who face barriers to accessing the arts. Visiting both theatres and traditionally non-arts spaces, these workshops have been created to let all young people know that the arts can be for them.

Concept

Mon 23 – Fri 27 October

Concept offers a free weeklong studio residency for 12-18 year olds, with the opportunity to collaborate with professional musicians, music producers and industry specialists to create and record an original album of music based around a shared concept or theme. Develop your musical, lyrical and production skills whilst working as a production team, gaining confidence, communication and social skills along the way.

Schools Partnerships Programme

Suitable for schools and colleges, we can create a bespoke range of creative workshops, projects and activities to support all areas of the curriculum, wellbeing and after school activities, alongside discounted rates for shows and performances. We can support with Arts Award and GCSE Drama practical assessments as well as arranging theatre visits to learn about all aspects of working life and careers in the arts and theatre.

Join Royal Opera House artists for Create & Sing and Create & Design, exploring Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute

Royal Shakespeare Company

In Spring 2024, join KS2-3 teachers from across Corby for a day of training with the Royal Shakespeare Company at The Core at Corby Cube. Explore their rehearsal room approaches to teaching Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, looking at story, characters, language and text. This will be a perfect opportunity for teachers bringing students to see the RSC’s First Encounters with Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet production.

Moving Together

Moving Together offers creative dance opportunities for teachers and students across Northamptonshire Schools. Providing CPD and specialist support for teachers, students will be able to develop their dance and movement skills, work collaboratively with peers and staff, perform in a theatre showcase and gain an Arts Award qualification. Running throughout Spring and Summer 2024, this programme is suitable for all age groups, and particularly suitable for schools working towards their ArtsMark.

Our Ticket Office is open Tuesday – Saturday 10am –6pm, or until 15 minutes after the last show of the day commences. When a performance takes place outside of these days, our Ticket Office opens one hour before the start time, and closes 15 minutes after.

Buy With Confidence

The safety of our audiences, staff and artists is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, please be assured that:

• We implement a cleaning regime between shows.

• We use e-tickets which can be checked hands free. You can either print off or present your ticket for scanning on your phone.

• Receive a credit or refund if a show is postponed or cancelled

Transaction Fee

We charge a £1.50 per-transaction fee for telephone and website bookings of £15 and over. This does not apply in person or to Friends, Groups and Disabled Patrons.

As ticket revenue is divided between many different parties, an increase in ticket prices may not necessarily benefit The Core. By adding a small transaction charge, we ensure that every penny of this goes to your local venue and the projects we run with local communities and young people.

Returns And Exchanges

We are unable to exchange or refund tickets after they are purchased, unless an event is cancelled or rescheduled due to circumstances beyond our control, or where there is a material change to the programme of the event.

The Core at Corby Cube is an accessible venue. The lifts from ground floor to all levels of the auditorium are at reduced capacity so are reserved for use by those with access needs.

Spaces for wheelchairs are available together with adjacent seats in the auditoria for companions or carers.

Parking for Blue Badge holders is available adjacent to Corby Cube. Guide Dogs are welcome. There is an induction loop or wireless hard of hearing system for all performances. Wireless headsets are available by request when you get your tickets scanned upon

Car Parking

Parking is available right next door to Corby Cube and Corby East Midlands International Swimming Pool. If this is full, we suggest the Victoria Place car park as a suitable alternative.
