The new STNOFS council.

Introducing the new leaders.

Change happens daily and change is a good way to keep you sharp and updated for the future. The same goes for a leader, a time will come for you to execute your authority and use it in the best interest of the organization, until your time has surpassed you to give over the rains. How you approach change lies inertly up to the individual.

This coming term, members of STNOFS will get to know new faces and build on founding relations with old faces in the council. The fact of the matter is that regardless of the role or portfolio, the core structure of the Area is to be a unit, an uninterrupted being that grow and build to further it’s Aims & Objectives. If the trust and respect between members are strong, there is no doubt that the word “impossible” will only remain to be a word. Break it down: I’m Possible!

The STNOFS area will be led by Mike Menezes as Chairman, from RT47. He will rely on his Vice Chairman Riaan Greyling from RT50 and Secretary Christo du Plessis from RT47. The past Area Chairman, Russel Human from RT45, will remain on the council to provide insight and feedback to build on. Bernard vd Berg from RT53 will take on the role as Treasurer, presumably for two terms. The relations portfolios will be held by two young gentleman of the Organization. Melcom vd Spuy from RT45 as IRO and Wouter Dreyer from RT47 as PRO. Completing the council will be J.A de Kock from RT45 as the Tri Area & ARTSA ’25 convenor.

With the energy and determination from these young men, the Area will certainly be in good capable hands.

The Story of how the roles changed hands

Round Table STNOFS, being led by Area Chairman Mike Menezes, has announced that Wouter Dreyer will be taking over as the new Personal Relations Officer (PRO) for the organization. Dreyer will be replacing Nicus Prinsloo, who has served as the PRO for the past year and a bit.

During the AGM, Nicus thanked the members of Round Table STNOFS for their support and dedication over the past two years. He also highlighted some of the organization’s accomplishments during his tenure, including the successful completion of several community service projects and the establishment of new partnerships with other Round Table organizations around the world and the country.

Bok Bok also showed the impact he made in raising awareness in the community within the STNOFS public and social platforms, engaging his determination to promote the name further of the Round Table STNOFS Area.

Prinsloo went on to express his confidence in Dreyer’s ability to lead the organization forward. He described Dreyer as a dedicated and committed member of Round Table STNOFS, with a strong passion for community service and a deep understanding of the organization’s values and mission. Prinsloo also understands that a good leader sometime needs to step down for others to grow and build on a solid foundation.

Dreyer went on to outline his vision for the organization, which includes a renewed focus on community service and a commitment to promoting fellowship and cultural exchange. He emphasized the importance of building strong partnerships with other Round Table organizations in the country and around the world, and he called on all members of Round Table STNOFS to work together towards a common goal.

Both Prinsloo and Dreyer have expressed their commitment to the organization’ s values and mission, and they have outlined a clear vision for the future of the organization. As Round Table STNOFS’s PRO’s moves forward under Dreyer’s leadership, it is clear that the organization will continue to play a vital role in promoting community service, fellowship, and cultural exchange in the STNOFS area and beyond.

What to expect from the new STNOFSie

This year I was presented with the opportunity to run the STNOFSie and to put together everything. I was struggling at first with the theme that I wanted to imply for the term. I wanted to break away from the norm and the past few years and the theme of the previous PRO’s. The thought had come to me that I should start taking everything back to the roots, and what is more back to the roots than an old school newspaper. I want to express myself and the articles I receive from the Area in a way that shows we can stand the test of time. To stick to the basics and to improve on us. I changed the date for this present year to 1923 to commit to the whole theme of the classic newspaper. Not that I want to stick in the past, but rather take a trip down memory lane. I sometimes feel 40 years old, and my brain wants everything to fit in boxes and be in black & white. Therefore, I chose this theme. This beauty was also constructed on Word 1993!

What I expect from my fellow STNOFS members and readers, the way forward and the outline:

> Write an article as soon as you take on a project, big or small, we have space for it all. We are all busy in our daily lives, but we should be able to take 30min and write something on how Round Table was involved in your life.

> The STNOFSie is only as good as the content it has, so make sure we keep up the articles.

> The Table with the most articles in the previous STNOFSie will receive the front page and be first in the news list.

> AMAZING ARTICLE AWARD (AAA) The best written article will receive the AAA status and be mentioned on the back page.

Thank you for allowing me this privilege to be the Editor of the STNOFSie, I believe it will be a great success filled with stories and memories.

Incoming Area Chairman Mike Menezes gives us an insight for his term as STNOFS Area Chairman

The breakdown for the term 2023/2024:

The Round Table Organization Plans for Success and Growth

For my term as STNOFS AREA CHAIRMAN I want to improve the organization with a renewed focus on camaraderie, togetherness, communication, drive, and inspiration. I am also hoping to attract new members through advertising and involvement in the community. This is a very important aspect for my term, and I would like everyone to take this seriously and to also promote it.

For me the focus and reality are the importance of going back to basics, focusing on two meetings a month, consistent dates, a clubhouse, minutes, dress codes, and decorum. Respect, communication, and problem-solving are essential for maintaining a positive and cohesive group dynamic.

Small gestures, such as showing appreciation, wishing each other happy birthdays, and promoting camaraderie, will go a long way in building a stronger and more unified group. By working together, we could improve our public image and attract new members, donors, and friends of the table. We should aim to grow together and become proud of what we are.

The Council is solid and committed to achieving the goals of the organization. It is important to be accountable and transparent to ensure success. You may have heard me say that the council is new and young, but as I pointed out, they are hungry and eager to grow and improve together with everyone.

Although I as Area Chairman do not have a formal 2/3 year plan, members learn from their predecessors and strive to adopt, adapt, and improve upon past successes. I am going to do my absolute best to make sure that we achieve our goals and grow to be more successful.

I am a human and I am not perfect, and I must admit it is hard to sum yourself up in a list, but I can acknowledges my weaknesses, including administrative tasks, time management, and patience. I do admit that I have a lot on my plate and that things sometime run away from me. However, I could also recognize my strengths, including leadership, fearlessness, compassion, and the ability to act. I am street smart and made it with distinction. I will always make a plan to make sure things work and operate effectively

The Association of Round Tables of Southern Africa STNOFS Area and Vereeniging van Tafelrondes van Suidelike Afrika STNOVS Area is committed to improving its organization through a renewed focus on tradition, communication, and community involvement. The organization is excited about its future and looks forward to achieving its goals with the support of its members and the community.

Things about myself:

I am married to my beautiful wife Chantel, who I love dearly. We are blessed to have three amazing little boys who fill up our house and hearts. Oldest Son Diego is 8, Luca is the middle child and turning 5 and our baby Kai turned 3 just the other day. We also have a cat and dog, luckily, they don’t fight.

I am proud Potch and have been living there for a long, long time. I attended Potchefstroom Boys High School and played big Rugby.

Now I keep myself busy with other work. I sell very good quality Maize and sell high end watches. If I am not doing my 8 to 5 or attending some form of Round Table event, my time is committed 180% on the family.

I love Jack Daniels and have some collector’s items. It is my drink of choice, and it suits me well.

STNOFS

What I see when I look at it…

STNOFS is an abbreviation for an area in central South Africa comprising of, Southern Gauteng, Northern Free State, and the Northwest Province. Originally abbreviation based on, South Transvaal and Northern Orange Free State.

Another important aspect of STNOFS is its commitment to fostering fellowship and cultural exchange. The area is home to several Round Table clubs, which provide a platform for people from different backgrounds to come together and work towards a common goal. Through these clubs, members of STNOFS have been able to build lasting relationships and establish partnerships with other Round Table organizations around the world. This has helped to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between people from different countries and backgrounds. STNOFS is also home to several landmarks and cultural sites that are significant to the region's history and identity. For example, the town of Parys, which is in the Free State part of the area, is known for its rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty. The town is home to several historic buildings and monuments, and it attracts thousands of visitors every year. Carletonville and Sasolburg also represent the equipment that is used to extract riches from solid grounds. The Vaal River shows the flow of Table through our area and our connection with one another. The vast amount corn fields, also represent the continuous growth we experience within our clubs and communities. Bring everything together, and you create something beautiful. You have people from different creed, but form unity in each other and the Association. The image can only be completed by all the special aspects of each club and town in the area to make it wholesome. We are STNOFS and this is our way!

Vereeniging 20

The logo & history

The Peace Monument or Peace Memorial is a monument in front of the Civic Centre in Vereeniging. The purpose of the monument is to constantly remind the Afrikaner of a freedom struggle that he temporarily lost with the weapon but won in the long run thanks to a spirit of invincibility. The word wounded appears on the pedestal and shows the defeat of a nation that has lost its independence; but unconquered recalls the faith, hope and courage that rose from the rubble. It was precisely this that enabled that nation to proclaim its complete independence again barely half a century later. An event that brings sorrow and disappointment often purifies a nation and steels itself for renewed building work towards a higher ideal.

Stilfontein 53

A new look at something old.

Round table 53 forms part of the STNOFS area and is in the North-West area of the country. We form STNOFS area with 6 other tables that is committed to making a change in our community. I asked around for the history of our tables logo and did not get much feedback about it. So, I decided to write what our logo means to me when I look at it. I see a table in a small town that most of ARTSA doesn`t even know where we a located as I realized while speaking to other Tablers at ARTSA last year. So, first things first we are located between Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp in the North-West. When I look at our logo, I see a table that has been through a lot, we had a Tabler Eugene that kept our Table open alone for 2 years. He held meetings and did reports on his own. He even build a bar in our club house.

That is what we in Stilfontein do, we look for the diamond in the rough. And make them the best Tablers possible. I think that is what the mineshaft stands for on our logo. We as a table can dig deep and get through any obstacle that comes our way. I hope you the reader learn something about Stilfontain 53 while reading this.

Matlosane 45

The merge of M219 & K45

The new logo of Round Table 45

Joining the name from Matlosane 219 with the nr from Klerksdorp 45 to create Matlosane 45

Round table Matlosane 45’S logo has a long and rich history. In 1956 Klerksdorp 45 was founded by Jack Applebaum and after many years of growth it became one of the biggest tables in South-Africa.23 Years later the table had more than 50 members, with came many challenges. Struggling to work out a way to get every Tabler involved and focusing on how to serve the community best. With so many members they decided to split in 1979 and then Matlosane 219 was born in 1980. It was a great success and the two tables worked together to build Klerksdorp into the great place it is today. Years later the table community hit a low with all the 41’ers leaving and little growth in both tables the members got to an all-time low.

In 2021 Russel Human that was a Tabler in Rustenburg 54 transferred to Klerksdorp 45 and they were only two members. After a few months of hard work, they grew Klerksdorp 45 up to four members. It was enough to get the table up and running but we knew we had greater plans with Round Table in Klerksdorp.

Matlosane 219 was a great table build of “GEES” and teamwork, they were a close group of strong and ambitious Tablers. One day in 2022 the two tables came together to work together on a project. That was the beginning of Matlosane 45. After a great success the two tables had an idea of bringing back the Klerksdorp table that once was in the 80’s. With long and hard discussions of how they would make the merge work in both the tables favour the plan was in action. After many meetings and voting the name Matlosane 45 was born. The two tables saw that working together in the same community served for the greater good for building Round Table stronger in Klerksdorp.

The symbol of the two people dancing in harmony is the main logo of our city. It is close to us at Matlosane 45, because our own tablers Jan-Albert De Kock’s mother was one of the designers of the main logo. Klerksdorp is a city that was built on mining and agriculture and still to this day it is the main income for the town. One of the statue is holding a pickaxe to symbolise the great mining expeditions that was held over the years in the town, and the greatness that it brought. The other statue is holding a piece of corn to show the many farms and farmers out and around the town, without them they would not have made the town as strong as it is. Klerksdorp is a beautiful place with some of the best people, we at Matlosane 45 are proud to be a part of it and show every story about our table’s history in the logo.

Potchefstroom 47

This is Potch!

The logo of Round Table 47

Potchefstroom represents far more than just a pin or banner. The history of RT47 goes back to the 60’s when a group of young men from the University town of Potchefstroom saw the potential in Round Table International to promote fellowship and service to the community.

The logo, which consist of a corn head (Mielie) and the number 47 across, along with the ARTSA Rondel. This has been the image that represents the fine gentleman of RT Potchefstroom. Firstly, the image could be seen of how the corn head is being covered with a few leaves. Then you bring in the representation of how the Round Table is also wrapped around the community, and that it is involved in the community’s lives. Secondly, there are lots of connection with a corn head and Potchefstroom. The town has a big foundation to the agriculture sector and its main production is maize, which comes from corn. The soil in these parts is rich with nutrition and leads to strong roots. The same is said about the members of RT47. They have strong roots to the Association and to their community. Thirdly, the corn cob, the remains of the corn head after everything is taken away from it. That is still useful, it can be used to start a fire and be a good flame to burn. The members of RT47 also burn with flames to help warm up those in need, even if it means going out of his way. This is what the logo means to us. Take a moment and realise what we are dealing with… We have popcorn, corn syrup, sweetcorn, maize, flour, animal feed, fresh corn on the cob and #gooimielies.

CARLETONVILLE 50

This is who we are.

Carletonville 50 form part of the STNOFS Area.

The Editor

RT History

A look at the early days.

The badge of Carletonville 50 Table is the African Continent in shape and displays a Mine Shaft Tower with light blue colour as the background. The mine shaft represents our area and the community we are mainly a mine orientated community. A fact that contributes to our logo is that in 1979 Western Deep Levels Ltd. operated the world’s deepest gold mine (extending to 12,392 feet [3,777 metres] below the Earth’s surface) in the locality.

If you mention the name Carletonville 50 things like, Jayson “Donkey” Scott, Barry Hilton, Carletoonville and famous prego rolls come to mind. We are a table that has a lot of “gees”. Everyone that visits us for a meeting, project, raid, or social will say that they are well looked after and had a good time. We are easy going and accommodate anyone and make them feel welcome. You will always walk away from our table with a story doesn’t matter if you are a friend, guest, brother and fellow tabler. Carletonville 50 always make the best of any situation. Carletonville 50 has always been a relatively small table but we always pull through and do big projects and make a big impact within our community. There was a time when we had only one member Jayson “Donkey” Scott running the table all by himself. He held every portfolio there and made it work. Today we are a table that are 5 members strong and 2 possible pipelinners. We are a table full of ideas and being innovative we started the #supportlocal project 2 years ago. It made a big impact within our community and is still up and running. When anyone finds themselves in our area be sure to let us know so that we can show you our clubhouse and extend our hospitality to you.

“Mighty proud I am that I am able to have a spare bed for my friends.” –Samuel Pepys

Never forget who you are! You are part of something, something that is bigger than what you can wrap your mind around. We are Tablers. We are the knights who protect and care for our communities. It is a privilege and an honour to be part of this organization, and we should be proud to be part of it. We have the opportunity to put all our differences aside, put down our swords on the Table and be equal. Free to talk and to bring factors and problems to light. We do not have power over one another, but rather respect and trust for one another. What we have, is built on a solid foundation, and the structure is strong. It lies in our hands to Adopt the situation, Adapt the situation, and Improve the situation we were given. Let the vision of Louis Marchesi run through our veins and thoughts each day we do something for others, with zero expectations in return.

Sasolburg 41

More than just a mine…

Sasolburg is a town in the Northern part of the Free State, established in 1954. The town was built by SASOL LTD to house employees at the world’s first oilfrom-coal plant producing commercial quantities of oil.

The location was selected for its proximity to large coal deposits, the Vaal River, and the Witwatersrand markets. Sasolburg attained official town status in 1967. Sasolburg is also known for its large population Oak and Acorn trees which were purposely planted over the decades. It is rumoured that there are more trees in the Sasolburg area than residents. Round Table Sasolburg 41’s logo represents our entire community as whole by displaying the Sasol factory in the background with the large Acorn tree in the front.

When - 14 March,1927

Where - Suckling House, Norwich England.

What - Round Table was formed.

Who - Louis Marchesi.

Why - So young business and professional men could get together ROUND the TABLE, ADOPT methods that have proved so sound in the past, ADAPT them to the changing needs of the times and wherever possible, IMPROVE them.

Legs of the Table

We hear this saying often, but how can we justify such a statement? Firstly, the Association of Round Tables Southern Africa is only eligible for young men between the ages of 18 to 40. This will immediately bring forth the question about “young men” not “young woman”. The fact of the situation is that we as young men do not have the only stake in the organization. As young men we sit around the Table and discuss the maters of life and the happenings in our community and circle. The Table however can’t stand or exist on its own or just float in the air. It needs to be supported, supported by a structure of equal magnitude and strength. Therefore, we refer to the wives, partners, better halves & “mamma” as the legs of the Table. These powerful and strong woman have what it takes to support us and help us along the way. They will always be able to help and assist where they can when a project arrives. They will coordinate, and even do a better job at it when the time comes. They are the special person in each Tablers heart. Sometimes they will argue or get worked up at late meetings, or a bit of a sidestep into the house… but will be the first to ask how the meeting ran, and what happened and was discussed. They listen when we talk and take all into account. For them, Table is just as important as it is to the members. We life to promote service and help in our communities all together. We must appreciate and acknowledge them for what they mean to us, and the organization. For we are all in this together, me and you, it’s what we do!

The Editor 41ers

While some may view this as a retirement from Round Table, the 41ers continue to be active in their communities and serve as important role models for the new generation of Round Table members. One of the key ways in which the 41ers remain relevant and important is through their involvement in mentoring and supporting younger Round Table members. Having already gone through the experiences and challenges of Round Table membership themselves, the 41ers are uniquely positioned to provide guidance and support to those who are just starting out. This mentoring relationship not only helps younger members navigate the sometimes-complex world of Round Table, but also ensures that the values and traditions of the organization are passed down from generation to generation.

In addition to mentoring, the 41ers continue to be involved in a variety of charitable and community service projects. Many of these projects are like those undertaken by Round Table, but with the added benefit of the 41ers' experience and expertise. Whether it's organizing a fundraising event or volunteering at a local food bank, the 41ers are committed to making a difference in their communities.

Of course, the 41ers are also important role models simply by virtue of their age and experience. As former members of Round Table, they have already demonstrated a commitment to service, leadership, and personal development. By continuing to be active in their communities and supporting Round Table, they show that these values are important at any age and that it is possible to make a meaningful difference even after "retirement" from Round Table.

Another way in which the 41ers continue to be important is by serving as ambassadors for Round Table. As former members, they have a unique perspective on the organization and can speak to its history, values, and impact. By sharing their own experiences and stories with others, they can help to promote Round Table and attract new members who share their passion for service and leadership.

In conclusion, the 41ers association may be seen as a retirement from Round Table, but they continue to play an important role in the organization and their communities. Through mentoring, community service, and advocacy, the 41ers serve as important role models for the new generation of Round Table members. By continuing to be active and engaged, they ensure that the values and traditions of Round Table are passed down from generation to generation, and that the organization remains a force for good in the world.

The last Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Round Table Klerksdorp 45 was held on February 16th, 2023, and it was a great success. The AGM is an important event in the life of any organization, as it provides an opportunity to review the achievements of the past year and to plan for the future. Potchefstroom 47 AGM

Held on the 19th of January at the Willows Hotel in Potchefstroom.

Wouter Dreyer

It was D Day and the circle on the calendar had arrived. The night was one of those that you looked forward too, but in a sense know what to expect. This however was not the case. The gents dressed to the nines, and they all gave the essence of Mr. James Bond. Conversations started at the bar with a cold Whiskey on Ice and a puff of smoke in the air. Running late with the adequate time of at least 30minutes, the drinks were filled to encounter the meeting that laid ahead.

Formalities started the endeavor and soon a steady flow of reports were dished out. The gents talked about all that they took on the past year and all the projects they ran with. They shared the highs and the lows of each aspect and spoke passionately about what they did. It gave reassurance looking back on all what was achieved.

We enjoyed a well-cooked meal. I am talking about the nicest steak that you could think of and ruin it by overcooking it for probability the whole day, some lovely potatoes, and a side salad. Desert was Cheesecake with chocolate flakes and Jägermeister. After dinner, we continued with the meeting. Next was a farewell to our outgoing members who will be joining the 41ers club, Sean Trautmann and Bradley Rhodes. This was a touching moment as they were greeted by the fellow members of the 47. There was a verry nice trip down memory lane prepared by Jacques Vissagie. Filled with photos, videos and memories of their time and the well spent moments with each other.

The members of Round Table Potchefstroom and the dignitaries are as follow:

Chairman – Christo du Plessis, Vice Chairman – Duche Marias

Treasurer – Divan Kotze, IRO/PRO/SEC – Wouter Dreyer

Clubhouse Convenor – Andries du Plessis

Constitutional Advisors - Mike Menezes & Jan Hendrik Delport

“TAFEL K@K HARD”

- Andries du Plessis

To conclude on the night…

It was real, it was nice. It was real nice. Memories were again made, and fellowship and comradery were in overflow. The year forward looks strong for the men of RT47. We as a club have the privilege to have received two new inducted members who show positive signs to be a great tabler. We are losing two members to the 41ers, but it is not a loss. Their wisdom and insight will just give us more strength to grab the bull by the horns.

I am personally excited to see what we as a club have to offer. The year lies full of new and daunting challenges, but we have the tools to overcome these obstacles. Togher, with the support of each other and the ladies that stand behind us, I am positive for a great year.

May the Table be with you…

Potchefstroom 47 Chairman Striving for Excellence and Leaving a Legacy

Christo du Plessis

Potchefstroom 47, known as the Flagship table, has always taken great pride in its members, projects, and the values it stands for. Despite facing hurdles along the way, the organization has consistently strived to maintain its table traditions, invest in quality members, and transfer skills and knowledge from older members to younger ones.

The AGM of SASOLBUR 41and the proceedings of the evening.

Sasolburg’s AGM was held on 09 March 2023 and was once again conducted in a professional and motivating manner.

Even though we’ve lost three members during the last year, we are still focussed on what matters most, fellowship and lending a helping hand to our community in need.

Our new council was elected from a skeleton crew, but as always in the case with Sasolburg, a quality crew.

I am proud to be elected as the chairman of RT Sasolburg 41 and will lead by example as the year goes on. This will definitely be a difficult year packed with challenges and new experiences, but we will only come out stronger and more motivated than ever.

My goal will be to keep the ball rolling and always keep pushing for better momentum, we simply cannot afford to slack off during this difficult time that RT Sasolburg 41 is experiencing. As one of our members are leaving as a 41er by the end of the year, we will definitely be focussing on a solid membership drive and if we can have at least two potential and quality members by the end of the year, my goal will be accomplished.

We will also be concentrating more on the financial projects this year as we took a huge knock on finances with our last project. The goal is to aim as big as possible as this will definitely help us with our membership drives during our projects.

Let’s hope that this will be one of the best years and see what the future holds. We will stand tall and never forget why we are part of this incredible organisation.

Outgoing Area Chairman Russel Human gives us an overview for his term as STNOFS Area Chairman

The report of the term 2022/2023:

My term as STNOFS Area Chairman

Firstly I would like to thank all the members of STNOFS for believing in me and believing in the councils plan for the year of 2022/2023.

My plan was simple and was to bring back the accountability and transparently back to the members. I did not spoon feed every portfolio holder and when a request was sent, I did not have to remind everyone about their duties.

At the 1st ASSCO I had to present my plan for my year and the one thing that weighed heavy on me was the “shotgun inductions”. After my report and plan was presented to our area, I could see the guys starting to think and what I said made absolute sense. I hope.

You guys had on presentation during the year and that was enough….

I know that what I said at the WC had some truth to it and I could see later the year. The blueprint/criteria were there to assist table in making a decision before inducting a new member. We started the “trial” at Klerksdorp 45 and within 8 months 3 out of 5 prospective members made the cut and was inducted, and still going strong. It a physiological thing, if it comes to easy, it bears no weight but if you work for it and make it a priority you will cherish it forever.

Our membership towards the end of the year went down by 15 members, but this is not to worry as the membership of STNOFS has for the few past years gone down and we always manage to pick it up back to where it was. No need to panic yet.

History happened in our area, and I can say I’m very proud to have been a part of this and that is after 43 years Matlosane 219 and Klerksdorp 45 merged. For the rest of the 2023/2024 year, I will be leading the new Matlosane 45.

A final word before I close this article:

Support each other, personally and table wise.

Practice and run with the new plan for the incoming area exec, they are here to assist.

· Change and modify the induction criteria to best suit your table.

Don’t come to area councils/conferences to fight, rather to assist where possible.

Bring the GEES and a good attitude.

Don’t fight in a meeting especially with you Area Chairman.

Good luck Mike with your year ahead, I know you will make us all proud.

Thanks again STNOFS.

J.A de Kock gives us feedback on his year and what it means to win this award.

The Tabler of the year for STNOFS

A mister WINSTON CHURCHILL described success as not final, and failure is not fatal, but rather that it is the courage to continue. In my table career I have also found this to be true, much like traffic lights managing the flow of traffic, I’ve received green lights, move with caution, and stop lights.

ROUNDTABLE traffic light is managing the flow of my life, goals and dreams, and has done so for the last 8 years. With many green lights, most of them in succession and a few move with caution lights, to halter my speed and make sure I move in the right direction. But mostly stop lights, there where I needed to change my direction, perception and to grow, because without failure, we cannot grow.

Success has different meanings for all of us and can be defined as such. Success is defined for me as follows - the promotion and recognition of myself as myself, for achieving the goals that are in my reach, and are reachable with my specific talents and gifts. The BICEP - the muscle for show, our men have been conditioned from a young age, to show our muscles and flex our biceps as a promotion of our man hood. It is a big bulky muscle and if you aren’t careful in how big it becomes, one has the risk of not even wiping your own ass. BUT the TRICEP - the working man muscle, the one not on show, the one that does all the heavy lifting, and puts the food on the table. Is the one I’ve always wanted to live by, “less impressed and more involved”-

It is easy to do a few things for show, it looks important and feels important and sometimes tastes important, but like a Afrikaans saying goes “dit het niks met die prys van eiers te doen nie”. We are here to build (develop) FELLOWSHIPS (friendship) between young men, not flex our “man hood” , we are here to foster RESPONSIBLE citizenship, not promote negativity, to offer an EXCELLENT medium of service to our community, not half heartily in service.

This is what table is for me and how I strive to table, to be recognized and appreciated for me being me and living my fullest for TABLE, is one of the greatest achievements I’ve received. For that and all it brought to my life, goals, and dreams, I thank this wonderful organization. A few important steps to success and greatness. Know yourself, start without hesitation, be small goal driven first, set long term goals, focus on what you want to achieve and not be haltered by limitations, track your progress, set metrics, and learn for successful cases first, then innovate, FIND A COACH.

In closing - fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.
