I’m Melcolm van der Spuy, and it’s an absolute honour to serve as your STNOFS IRO and PRO for this term. At 23, I’m still considered a young tabler, but the experiences I’ve gained over the last few years have been nothing short of transformative. It’s a privilege to be in a position where I can contribute to the growth and unity of our community, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s pushing boundaries and setting new standards.
Since then, I’ve thrown myself into the work of the Round Table, first as the IRO/PRO for Matlosane 45 and later on the STNOFS Council. Now, as the IRO and PRO for STNOFS, I’m proud to say that we’ve made some incredible strides in strengthening our presence and visibility, especially on social media. Our area’s growth in this space has been phenomenal, and it’s been rewarding to see how we’ve united under our green blazers, green and gold ties, and our area shirts. We don’t just look like a team – we are a team, and that’s something worth celebrating.
One of the most significant aspects of our work has been the way we’ve harnessed technology to bring our message to a broader audience. Social media has given us a platform to showcase the incredible work we’re doing, to share our values, and to connect with people who share our commitment to service. This year, we’re taking that a step further by ensuring that our STNOFSIE magazine is accessible digitally, allowing us to reach beyond our geographical boundaries. Of course, we’re still producing hard copies for those who want to keep a tangible reminder of the great work we’re doing, but going digital is a big step forward.
Reflecting on my journey, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of pride in what we’ve achieved together. Our community service projects, like the winter blanket drive and the youth mentorship program, have made a lasting impact on the lives of many. We’ve provided warmth to those who needed it most and offered guidance to young people who might otherwise have lost their way. These initiatives are more than just projects – they’re a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together with a shared purpose.
As your editor and now IRO and PRO, my vision for this year’s STNOFSIE is to continue building on our successes, to harness the power of technology, and to bring our community even closer together. I believe in the strength of our Table, in the dedication of our members, and in the bright future that lies ahead. For those of you who are new to Round Table or are considering joining, my advice is simple: embrace every opportunity, learn from those around you, and never underestimate the difference you can make.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Wild West STNOFSIE. Your stories, your dedication, and your hard work have made this magazine possible. Together, we’re creating something special – a community that stands strong, supports one another, and works tirelessly to make the world a better place.
Here’s to a year of growth, learning, and continued camaraderie. I’m proud to be part of this journey with you, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together.

IN THE SPRAWLING LANDSCAPE of global cultural exchange, we at Round Table, a young men's service club known for our commitment to fellowship, friendship, and community service, are spearheading efforts to bridge generational and geographical divides. With Gen 2 at the helm, our esteemed association is increasingly pivotal in shaping and promoting a future where diverse cultural expressions and traditions fuse seamlessly.
Founded in 1927 by Louis Marchesi in Norwich, England, Round Table was conceived as a club where young men could gather to exchange ideas and serve Their communities. Drawing inspiration from the Arthurian legend, we, as Tablers, commit to enhancing our personal and professional lives through community service and networking opportunities. This foundation has uniquely positioned us to influence and engage with the Gen Z demographic.
Generation Z, born from the late 1990s through the early 2010s, are digital natives who have grown up in a hyper-connected world. Their upbringing in the Internet era has exposed them to many cultures, fostering an appreciation for diversity unlike any previous generation. This global perspective is reflected in their attitudes, behaviours, and expectations, particularly regarding cultural identity and community engagement.
Round Table clubs worldwide, from Europe to Africa, America, and Asia, are harnessing this generational shift by involving Gen Z members in projects that serve local needs and promote cultural understanding. These projects range from charity drives to cultural exchange programs, all designed to reflect our members'
diverse backgrounds and experiences. A significant part of this integration is international tabling. These exchanges allow us as young men to experience and appreciate cultural nuances firsthand leading to a greater understanding and appreciation of global diversity.
Gen Z's influence through Round Table could extend to broader societal trends, including new ways of community service, fellowship, and cultural experience. They are breaking down traditional barriers by advocating for and practicing cultural fusion. For instance, our Round Table events often feature multicultural elements that directly reflect local and international trends.
As we continue to evolve, we are actively adapting our mission to be more inclusive terms of membership and the scope of our activities. This includes greater emphasis on global humanitarian issues and sustainable development goals, which resonate strongly with Gen Z's inclusivity, sustainability, and global citizenship values.
Our blend of tradition with modern sensibilities, combined with the energetic Influence of Gen Z, is creating a dynamic environment where cultural fusion is celebrated as a path to global understanding and cooperation. As these young men lead the way, they are not just participants in their cultures but active architects of an interconnected world. The promise of this fusion is a more cohesive, diverse, and inclusive global society, held together by the enduring values of fellowship and service that have been the cornerstone of Round Table since our inception. In the dance of cultures that defines our time, we at Round Table, with all our members, are pivotal players, proving that when diverse minds meet, the future is bright.

AMI Chairman 2023-2024
This past few months marked the beginning of the highly anticipated area visits by President Antonie Smit and Vice President Vos Botha, RTSA Vice President for 2024/25. The inaugural event, the Round Table South Cape Area Winter Conference, was a remarkable blend of fun, camaraderie, and strategic discussions aimed at furthering the noble Aims and Objectives of our esteemed organization.
The conference, held in the picturesque town of Oudtshoorn, was graced by several notable figures from the Round Table community. In addition to President Smit and Vice President Botha, the RTSA Treasurer, Wessel Dreyer, was in attendance, bringing his invaluable insights and expertise to the discussions. The event also saw the participation of Jacques Van Wyk, the Area Chairman of the Round Table Eastern Province Area, and Nicholas Austin, the Vice Area Chairman of the Round Table Western Province Area. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and unity that define our organization.
A special shout-out goes to Round Table Oudtshoorn 33 for their exceptional hosting of the conference. Their hospitality and meticulous planning ensured that the event was not only successful but also memorable for all attendees. One of the highlights was the unique tradition of gifting the coveted Round Table South Cape Ostrich egg. This special gift is reserved for the South Cape Area Chairman, RT 33 41ers, or RTSA executive members attending an Area conference in Oudtshoorn, making it a symbol of honor and distinction.
The event also featured various recreational activities that allowed members to unwind and build stronger bonds with one another. The blend of formal and informal sessions created a balanced and enriching experience for all participants.
As we look forward to the upcoming area visits and events, the Round Table South Cape Area Winter Conference stands out as a testament to the dedication and passion of our members. It is through such gatherings that we continue to inspire and empower each other to make a positive difference in our communities.
Once again, heartfelt thanks to Round Table Oudtshoorn 33 for their generosity and for setting a high standard for hosting. The spirit of fellowship and excellence displayed at the conference will undoubtedly inspire future events and initiatives across the organization.
As the first days of September usher in the refreshing winds of spring, there's no better time to kick-start a challenge that embodies both physical and mental wellbeing. This year, Round Table, in partnership with Ladies Circle and 41ers, proudly presents the *Spring Challenge* – a call to action for all Tablers, Circlers, and our ever-spirited Ooms to get moving, stay healthy, and foster a deeper sense of community.
We’ve long recognized the importance of mental health, but it’s easy to overlook the fact that physical well-being plays a crucial role in our overall health. The Spring Challenge is more than just a fitness contest; it’s an opportunity to focus on holistic health, to engage in friendly competition, and to strengthen the bonds within our Round Table family.
The Spring Challenge runs from *1 September 2024* to *11:59 pm, 30 September 2024*. Throughout these 30 days, participants are encouraged to push their limits, set personal goals, and engage in the following activities:
- Walk/Run: Complete 100 km over the 30-day period.
- Cycle: Cover 300 km within the month.
- Swim: Reach 25 km over the course of the challenge.
To keep track of your progress, an official *Strava challenge* will be created. Strava’s compatibility with most fitness devices and mobile phone fitness trackers makes it easy to log your activities. Plus, it adds an element of social interaction, allowing you to see how your fellow challengers are faring. Details on how to join the Strava challenge will be shared soon, so keep an eye out.
For those who prefer a more private approach, you can log your daily workouts on your own and send them to *Vos Botha* at the end of the challenge as proof. However, joining the Strava challenge is strongly encouraged to enhance the camaraderie and motivation that comes from seeing others’ progress. To build an even stronger sense of community, we’ve set up a *WhatsApp group* for all participants. Here, you can share your experiences, swap tips, and encourage each other to push through those tougher days. Joining this group is optional if you're already part of the Strava challenge, but it’s a great way to be part of the #ImpactfulChange we’re aiming for with this initiative.
A key point to note: *Daily steps* alone won’t count toward the challenge. The goal here is to make a conscious decision to be active each day, logging a specific physical activity. Whether it’s hitting the pavement for a run, cycling through the countryside, or diving into the pool, we want every kilometer to be a deliberate act of wellness.
While the primary focus of this challenge is health and well-being, we’ve sweetened the pot with some exciting prizes. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of friendly competition?
1. The club that clocks the most kilometers will win a steel Boma braai, adorned with the relevant logos – perfect for those post-challenge celebrations!
2. Other prizes include free BMG registration*, banner, pin, and coin hampers, giving you even more incentive to push those limits.
As we progress through the Spring Challenge, we encourage everyone to share their journey on social media. Use the following hashtags to promote the challenge, share your achievements, and connect with others who are taking part:
#SideBySide #InfiniteFriendship #RoundTableFamily #RoundTable #LadiesCircle #FriendshipAndService #ImpactfulChange #SpringChallenge
Whether it’s a snapshot of your running shoes hitting the pavement, a selfie after a swim, or a group photo of your cycling crew, every post helps to spread the word and inspire others to join in the fun.
So, as we step into this season of renewal, let’s also renew our commitment to ourselves and to each other. The Spring Challenge is our chance to focus on our health, enjoy some friendly competition, and strengthen the ties that bind our Round Table community. Lace up those sneakers, dust off the bike, or dive into the pool – let’s make this spring a season of wellness, unity, and impactful change!
See you on Strava, and let the challenge begin!

The ARTSA 2025 Team
As I reflect on the year so far as Chairman of the Round Table STNOFS area, I find it important to be honest with ourselves about the journey we’re on both individually and collectively. Leadership is not just about celebrating successes; it’s about acknowledging where we can improve and understanding the importance of personal growth.
This year has tested us in many ways. We’ve faced challenges that required us to step out of our comfort zones and make tough decisions. It’s easy to focus on the highlights, but growth often comes from confronting the moments where things didn’t go as planned. These are the times that push us to be better, both as individuals and as a group.
Being a part of Round Table means more than just attending meetings or participating in projects. It’s about self-awareness, understanding our strengths and weaknesses, and striving to improve not just for ourselves, but for the communities we serve. The #BeATabler initiative has been a critical part of this journey. It encourages us to embody the values of Round Table in our daily lives to be leaders, not just in title, but in action.
#BeATabler is a call to each of us to step up, to hold ourselves accountable, and to be the change we want to see. It’s about being real with ourselves, recognizing where we fall short, and taking concrete steps to grow. Whether it’s improving our communication, being more proactive, or simply showing up with the right attitude, being a Tabler is about continuous improvement.
This honesty, this commitment to personal and collective growth, is what will drive us forward. We don’t need to sugarcoat our experiences or pretend everything is perfect. What we need is to be real with each other, to support each other in our growth, and to hold ourselves to the high standards that Round Table represents.
As we move forward, let’s focus on what truly matters being honest with ourselves, pushing for personal growth, and living out the principles of #BeATabler every day. It’s not about perfection, but about the ongoing process of becoming the best versions of ourselves, for the benefit of our community and our organization.
Yours in Table,
Riaan Greyling Chairman STNOFS Area Round Table
As I near the end of my term as Vice Area Chairman of STNOFS, I find myself reflecting on a year that has been both challenging and rewarding. Serving in this role has been a true learning curve, filled with opportunities to grow, adapt, and implement new ideas. When I took on this responsibility, I set out with a clear mission: to foster transparency and ensure that every Vice Chairman across our respected Tables is equipped with the guidance needed to lead effectively.
One of my first initiatives was the Dry July drive, followed by the All About Her Pamper Day in August. These were more than just events; they were opportunities to bring our members together, to engage with our communities in meaningful ways, and to set the tone for what I hope will become a tradition of monthly initiatives. My plan is to continue this momentum with a new project each month, right through until April next year. Another key focus for me has been the implementation of the "Back A Table" initiative within our area. The idea is simple: to alleviate the challenges of potential pipeline issues and membership introductions by encouraging neighboring Tables to assist each other with projects. While progress has been slower than I’d hoped, primarily due to the busy schedules of our Tables, I believe in the importance of this initiative. By working together, we not only strengthen our projects but also create opportunities to invite new members to join our ranks. One area where I see great potential for growth is in forging connections with other Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) such as Rotary and Lions. My goal is to encourage Tables within STNOFS to engage with these organizations, offering young men who might be seeking an alternative to the "Old people stigma" an opportunity to join Table. By reaching out to these groups, we can broaden our network and bring fresh energy and ideas into our organization.
The Bring a Buddy to a Meeting initiative has been a continuous plan, and I firmly believe it needs to become a staple of our membership strategy. Making it compulsory for each member to bring at least one person per month, regardless of their age, could truly make our membership goals a reality. The strength of our Table lies in its diversity, and bringing in new perspectives is key to our continued growth and success. I am confident that the Vice Chairmen across STNOFS are aware of these plans and will make the most of them. We have a strong team, and I believe that by working together, we can achieve great things. It’s been a privilege to serve in this role, and I look forward to seeing how these initiatives will continue to evolve and strengthen our community.
Thank you for your support and for allowing me to serve as your Vice Area Chairman. I look forward to the continued growth and success of STNOFS.
Yours in Tabling
STNOFS Vice-Chairman
Adrian Ihlendfeldt
As the STNOFS Area Secretary this year, I set out on a journey that required significant changes and updates to streamline our operations and provide our members with the tools they need for success. Looking back now, I’m proud to say that we've made some incredible strides. The commitment and cooperation of the members within our STNOFS area is the only way this was possible.
At the beginning of the year, we were faced with numerous challenges that needed urgent attention. A major priority was to update and synchronize all our Area’s information on Tabler World. From email addresses and contact information to the specific portfolios of each table, every piece of information needed to be accurate and up-to-date. This ensured that each member remained connected and informed, paving the way for better communication and collaboration.
One of the first steps I took was to create a WhatsApp Community Group. This wasn't just another chat group; it was a structured communication platform where each portfolio had its own dedicated group. This move ensured that every active Tabler was added and actively participating in discussions relevant to their roles. This made a huge difference! Understanding the need for a more organized approach to document management, I also sorted out the STNOFS Area Gmail account and initiated a Google Drive system. Now, all our Area meetings’ agendas, minutes, notices of meetings, and expectations documents are stored in one central location. This makes it incredibly easy for the incoming council members to find templates and resources specifically to their portfolios. Additionally, our logos, standing orders, and records of any motions are securely stored, creating a repository that’s easy to access and navigate. To help boost our area’s engagement and planning, a year planner was created to capture the dates and details of each table's projects. This effort allows for greater visibility and encourages participation from members across different tables.
Another important platform that was updated, was TimeTree. Members can easily add and keep track of birthdays, business meetings, social gatherings, and project dates. As a conclusion, the members of the next term are now better equipped than ever with tools that are designed to make their roles more effective and efficient. I remain available to make any necessary updates, such as changing emails on Tabler World, to ensure that everyone receives the correspondence they need. Not that the members of STNOFS reads it anyways.

The STNOFS area winter conference held at the Carletonville 50 clubhouse was a remarkable success, showcasing the unity and progress of the Tables in our area. The event brought together the chairmen and members from various Tables, each eager to share their achievements and plans for the year. This gathering not only celebrated the accomplishments of the past year but also set a promising tone for the future, highlighting the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.
The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and pride as each chairman took the stage to present their Table's accomplishments. It was inspiring to hear about the diverse range of projects and initiatives that have been undertaken, all aimed at making a positive impact in our communities. The consistent theme across all reports was growth and improvement, building on the solid foundations laid last year. From community service projects to fundraising events, the breadth and depth of activities demonstrated the collective commitment to service and fellowship.
One of the most notable aspects of the conference was the emphasis on collaboration and mutual support. Each Table shared not only their successes but also the challenges they faced and the strategies they employed to overcome them. This open exchange of ideas and experiences fostered a sense of solidarity and learning, reinforcing the strength of our network. It was evident that the collective wisdom and support of the STNOFS area were invaluable resources for each Table. The conference also provided an opportunity to recognize and celebrate individual contributions. Awards and acknowledgments were given to those who have shown exceptional dedication and leadership. These recognitions serve as a reminder of the importance of individual effort and the impact it can have on the broader community. It was heartening to see so many members being celebrated for their hard work and commitment.
A highlight of the conference was the induction of a new member, Desmond, into the Carletonville 50 Table. Desmond's induction symbolizes the ongoing expansion and rejuvenation of our organization, welcoming fresh perspectives and energy. His enthusiasm and commitment were evident as he took his oath, promising to uphold the values and principles of the Table. This moment was met with applause and cheers, reflecting the warm and inclusive spirit of our community. The venue, the Carletonville 50 clubhouse, was the perfect setting for this gathering. The well-appointed facilities and welcoming atmosphere contributed to the overall success of the event. The hospitality shown by the Carletonville 50 Table was exemplary, ensuring that all attendees felt comfortable and valued. The effort put into organizing and hosting the conference did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated by all.
This year's winter conference not only celebrated the successes of the past but also set a promising tone for the future. The dedication and hard work of all the Tables in our area were evident, and it is clear that we are on a path to achieving even greater things together. The shared sense of purpose and commitment to making a positive difference in our communities were palpable throughout the event. As we move forward, it is essential to maintain the momentum and continue building on the foundations laid during this conference. The ideas and plans discussed must be turned into actions, and the collaborative spirit fostered must be sustained. Together, we can achieve our goals and continue to make a meaningful impact.
Congratulations to all the chairmen and members who participated, and a warm welcome to Desmond. Let's continue to build on our achievements and strive for excellence in all our endeavors. The future looks bright for the STNOFS area, and with continued dedication and hard work, there is no limit to what we can achieve.

Yeehaw, folks! There's a new tradition riding into town, straight from the heart of the Carletonville 50 Table, and it’s got everyone tipping their hats literally. Dale, our very own trailblazer, has introduced the Cowboy Fellowship Hat, a fun and spirited way to keep the camaraderie flowing and the drinks pouring. So, what’s the deal with this hat? Well, it’s not just any hat; it’s a symbol of fellowship, fun, and, most importantly, free drinks! Here’s how it works: if you’re the lucky soul who ends up with the hat, your first duty is to buy someone a drink. Yes, you heard that right pick your favorite Table buddy and make their day. Then, it’s their turn to wear the hat and continue the tradition.
But here’s where it gets interesting. If you’re the last one to don the hat by the end of the night, the responsibility doesn’t end there. You need to bring that cowboy hat to the next STNOFS gathering. Forgetting it is not an option, unless you fancy paying a hefty fine that’ll have you digging deep into your pockets. So, mark your calendar, set a reminder, and maybe even stick a Post-it note on your forehead just don’t forget the hat! The Cowboy Fellowship Hat has quickly become a beloved part of our gatherings, sparking laughter, stories, and, of course, a bit of friendly competition. It’s hilarious watching everyone’s reactions as they realize they’ve been "hatted" and scramble to figure out who to pass it to next. Dale’s brilliant idea has not only brought a fresh wave of fun to our meetings but also strengthened the bonds between us, one drink at a time.
So, next time you see that cowboy hat making its rounds, embrace the spirit and enjoy the moment. Whether you’re buying a drink, receiving one, or just enjoying the spectacle, it’s all about keeping the fellowship alive and well in the most entertaining way possible. Here's to Dale for spicing things up and to all of us for keeping the tradition going strong. Remember, wear the hat with pride, share the joy, and whatever you do, don’t forget it at home! See y’all at the next gathering happy hatting!

The STNOFS Area recently marked an important milestone with the successful hosting of the 2nd Council Meeting for the term, held by the ever-gracious Vereeniging 20. This gathering was not just a routine meeting but a celebration of our shared values, commitment to service, and the bright future that lies ahead for our area.
One of the highlights of this council meeting was the induction of two remarkable individuals into the STNOFS family. We were honored to welcome Sean Hawkins and Wynand Swart, who were officially inducted by our esteemed Area Chairman, Riaan Greyling. The induction ceremony was a poignant reminder of the strength and unity that define our brotherhood. Sean and Wynand bring with them a wealth of experience, energy, and a deep commitment to the values that drive Round Table Southern Africa. Their addition to our ranks is not just a testament to the growth of our area, but also a signal of the vibrant future we are collectively working towards. As we welcome them into the fold, we are confident that they will play a pivotal role in the continued success and expansion of our area.

You know, there’s something undeniably charming about a quiz night. It’s that perfect mix of friendly competition, quirky questions, and the inevitable debate over whether Pluto should still be considered a planet (spoiler: it totally should). But when you throw in a cause as heartwarming as helping our furry friends at animal shelters, well, you’ve got the recipe for a night to remember.
That’s exactly what happened when Matlosane 45 Loving Shelter recently hosted their annual quiz night. Let me tell you, it was more than just a few rounds of trivia – it was a roaring success that managed to pull in a whopping R40,000! Yeah, you heard that right – R40,000 to support our local animal shelters. If that doesn’t make you want to hug your nearest dog, cat, or guinea pig, then I don’t know what will.
The night kicked off at a cozy local venue, which quickly filled up with a delightful mix of brainiacs, trivia enthusiasts, and those who were clearly just there for the snacks. But what really united everyone was the shared passion for making a difference in the lives of animals in need. And trust me, the energy in the room was electric – or maybe that was just the Jager kicking in.
As the quizmaster took the stage, the room settled into a buzz of excitement. Teams with names like “The O,ll timers” and “Eagles nest” geared up for what promised to be a night of brain-busting questions and, of course, a lot of laughs. The rounds covered everything from general knowledge to pop culture, with a few curveballs thrown in just to keep things interesting.
But beyond the laughter and the occasional cries of “We were robbed!” after a particularly tricky question, there was a deeper sense of purpose that underscored the evening. Everyone knew that every rand raised would go directly to helping animals who desperately need care, love, and a safe place to call home. And that’s what made this night so special.
By the time the final round wrapped up, and the scores were tallied, it was clear that the real winners of the night weren’t just the team who knew that Mount Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania. The true victors were the animals that would benefit from the funds raised. R40,000 is no small change, and it’s going to go a long way in ensuring that these shelters can continue their vital work – whether it’s feeding, housing, or providing medical care to the animals who need it most.
As the event drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of accomplishment in the air. Not only had the quiz night brought the community together in a fantastic display of teamwork and good humour, but it had also shone a spotlight on the importance of supporting our local animal shelters.
Looking around the room, it was hard not to feel a swell of pride for what had been achieved. The success of this quiz night is a statement to what can happen when people come together for a good cause. It proves that even in a world where there’s plenty to worry about, there’s still an overwhelming amount of kindness, generosity, and love –especially when it comes to our four-legged friends.
So, here’s to Matlosane 45 Loving Shelter and to everyone who showed up, competed, and gave generously. Whether you left with the top prize or just the satisfaction of knowing you helped make a difference, you’re all champions in my book. Let’s keep that spirit alive and continue to support the incredible work these shelters do. After all, every little bit helps – and who knows? Maybe next year, you’ll be the one walking away with the bragging rights of quiz night champ!
Until then, let’s keep those tails wagging and those paws prancing. Cheers to making the world a little bit better, one quiz night at a time!

You know those days when everything just clicks into place? The sun’s shining, the air’s filled with the mouth-watering aroma of sizzling meat, and the company’s just as delightful as the food. Well, that’s exactly how it felt on July 20th at the Flavour Fest Food and Drink Festival, where Matlosane 45 set up our very own food stall. Let me tell you, we weren’t just there to flip a few burgers – we brought our A-game with pulled pork served three ways. And trust me, it was a culinary experience that had everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds, if I’m being honest).
We decided to showcase our pulled pork in three iconic South African styles: on Roosterkoek, Vetkoek, and a classic bun. Now, if you’re wondering what Roosterkoek and Vetkoek are, let me paint you a picture. Roosterkoek is that perfectly grilled bread that has just the right amount of crunch on the outside and softness on the inside, while Vetkoek is a deep-fried piece of heaven that’s crispy on the outside and fluffy within. And of course, the bun – because who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned pulled pork sandwich?
As soon as the festival kicked off, our stall became the place to be. The sizzle of the pulled pork, the smell of freshly grilled Roosterkoek, and the sight of our well-oiled machine of a team working together – it was a thing of beauty. Each member of Matlosane 45 had a role to play, and boy, did we play it well. From the grill masters to the cash handlers, everyone was in sync, and the camaraderie was palpable.
What made this day even more special was knowing that every rand we raised was going straight back into our community. There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing people enjoy what you’ve made while also knowing that it’s all for a good cause. It’s like the ultimate win-win situation.
As the day went on, the lines at our stall never seemed to get shorter. Word had spread that Matlosane 45 was serving up the best pulled pork in town, and folks just couldn’t resist. We had families, foodies, and even a few curious passersby who just had to see what all the fuss was about. And let’s just say, no one left disappointed.
But beyond the delicious food and the busy crowds, what really stood out to me was the spirit of togetherness among our team. It’s not every day that you get to see everyone working so seamlessly, almost like a well-oiled machine. We were flipping Roosterkoek, stuffing Vetkoek, and stacking buns with such precision that it almost felt like we were putting on a show. And in a way, we were – a show of teamwork, dedication, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
By the time the festival wrapped up, we were all exhausted but in the best possible way. There’s a unique kind of tiredness that comes from a job well done, and we were definitely feeling it. But it was also mixed with pride – pride in our team, in the food we served, and in the impact we were able to make in our community.
So, here’s to the Flavour Fest Food and Drink Festival – a day that was about more than just food. It was about coming together as Matlosane 45, rolling up our sleeves, and showing everyone what we’re made of. We weren’t just serving pulled pork; we were serving up a slice of what makes our community so special – heart, teamwork, and a whole lot of love.
Looking back, I couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved that day. We raised funds for our community, brought people together over some seriously tasty food, and proved once again that when Matlosane 45 gets together, we can accomplish anything. I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to our next event. Who knows what we’ll cook up next time? Whatever it is, you can bet it’ll be delicious – and it’ll be for a good cause. Cheers to that!

If there’s one thing you can count on in life, it’s that things don’t always go according to plan. Whether it’s your favorite team missing a crucial penalty or your morning coffee spilling just as you’re about to take that first glorious sip, life has a way of throwing us curveballs. Unfortunately, one of those curveballs recently came our way at Matlosane 45, but as we’ve proven time and time again, we’re more than capable of hitting it out of the park. Our Chairman, who has been at the helm and steering us with unwavering dedication, recently had to step back due to life’s unpredictable twists. It’s never easy to see a leader step down, especially one who has given so much of himself to the cause. But, as they say, the show must go on, and in true Matlosane 45 fashion, we didn’t miss a beat.
Enter Henro Louw, the man who’s stepped up to take on the Chairmanship with all the enthusiasm of a Springbok charging onto the field. If you don’t know Henro, let me tell you – this guy’s got the heart, the drive, and the vision to lead us into the future. He’s the kind of leader who doesn’t just talk the talk but walks the walk, and we’re all excited to see where he’s going to take us next.
But that’s not all. We also welcomed Divan Kotze as our interim Vice Chairman. It’s like we’ve just added another player to our own “Bomb Squad” – that unbeatable mix of talent and strategy that makes sure we’re always ready for whatever comes our way. Divan is young, energetic, and ready to take on the responsibility with the kind of pride that makes you want to stand up and cheer. Seeing these two young Tablers step into leadership roles is nothing short of inspiring. It’s a testament to the depth and strength of our Table, much like the Springbok squad where every player, from the starters to the substitutes, is ready to step up when needed. There’s no doubt that Henro and Divan are more than capable of leading us forward, and they’ve got the full support of the entire Table behind them.
What’s truly remarkable is that even in the face of these changes, the spirit of Matlosane 45 remains as strong as ever. We’re not just a group of individuals – we’re a team, and like any great team, we adapt, we overcome, and we continue to move forward with our heads held high. The fact that we have such capable leaders ready to step up at a moment’s notice speaks volumes about the depth of talent and commitment within our ranks. So, while life may have thrown us a curveball, we’ve hit it out of the park with style. We’ve got new leadership in place, the Table is as strong as ever, and the future looks brighter than ever before. Henro and Divan, we’re behind you all the way, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together.
Here’s to Matlosane 45 – to new beginnings, to strong leadership, and to the unbreakable spirit that makes us who we are. We might not know what challenges lie ahead, but one thing’s for sure: with Henro and Divan at the helm, we’re ready for anything. Let’s keep pushing forward, keep supporting each other, and keep making a difference in our community. After all, that’s what being a part of Matlosane 45 is all about – pride, responsibility, and a whole lot of heart.

When it comes to celebrating a major milestone like a bachelor party, you know Matlosane 45 isn’t going to let the occasion slip by quietly. We believe in going all out, making memories, and most importantly, showing what true camaraderie and fellowship really mean. So, when one of our own, Henro Louw, was about to tie the knot, we knew we had to throw him a bachelor party he’d never forget – and that’s exactly what we did. The day kicked off bright and early at 7 AM. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Who on earth starts a bachelor party at the crack of dawn?” Well, when you’re planning to celebrate Henro Louw, there’s no time to waste! We picked him up at his place, and the look on his face was priceless when he saw us all there, ready to kick off the festivities.
But we weren’t just there to pick him up – we came prepared. Henro was about to be dressed in something special. You see, we decided that if he was going to be the star of the day, he might as well look the part. So, we decked him out as a true Stormers supporter. Henro might not have been expecting it, but he embraced it like a champ. With Henro kitted out and ready to go, we hit the road. The day was filled with laughter, good-natured teasing, and a series of surprises that kept Henro on his toes. Everywhere we went, people couldn’t help but smile at the sight of our groom-to-be, proudly rocking his Stormers gear. It wasn’t just about the outfit, though – it was about showing Henro that he’s not just a member of Matlosane 45; he’s part of a brotherhood that’s there for him through thick and thin.
By the end of the day, Henro was grinning from ear to ear, not just because of the incredible day we’d had, but because he knew he was stepping into the next chapter of his life with the full support of his brothers at Matlosane 45. It’s moments like these that remind you of the power of fellowship – of knowing that no matter where life takes you, you’ve got a team of people who will be there to celebrate your highs, support you through your lows, and make sure you never forget the importance of friendship and brotherhood. Henro’s bachelor party wasn’t just a celebration of his upcoming wedding; it was a celebration of everything that makes Matlosane 45 special. It was about showing Henro that as he takes on this new journey, he’s got an entire squad cheering him on, just like the Stormers supporters who never back down from a challenge. So, here’s to Henro Louw – to a day of laughter and unforgettable memories. And here’s to Matlosane 45, for reminding us all that no matter what life throws our way, we’ve got each other. Whether we’re donning fan gear or just sharing a laugh, the bonds we’ve built will carry us through anything. Cheers to that!

It was a cold morning on the 25th of July where Round Table Matlosane 45 alongside OFM hosted the OFM Chip for Charity Golf day. However we had our work cut out for us to make this day successful. Lot of planning, strategies planned throughout meetings, and assisting OFM with all the necessary information at all times needed, we accomplished and surpassed our goal for the day. The RT45 Gazebo was flowing with jagermeesters, the interaction between the members of 45 and the public was constant and they enjoyed every moment.
After a long day of fellowship it was time for the award ceremony. We had tons of prizes handed out to lots of players who enjoyed the day with us. The OFM team did a fantastic job with the auctioning items where one piece of memorabilia sold for R50 000.A total of R314 480.00 was raised to be donated to our two beneficiaries, Dominique Prinsloo & Voetlig Gemeente. We would like to express our gratitude to Orkney Golf Course, The OFM Team, Round Table members who participated and to each and every golfer in our area who made it possible to help us help our two beneficiaries.

Meet my better half, my best friend, my partner in crime but best of all my wife Lene Kotze. She keeps me in line, she provides me with both emotional and physical support throughout my Round Table journey and in our personal life. Although I can write a book about the story of our life together let me give you a glimpse of only one special night. During the month of August our Area Vice Chairman of STNOFS came up with the idea of #Allabouther, with this drive we get the chance to spoil our better halve, daughter or mother by making a special night all about them to thank them and show appreciation for all they do for us.
In the middle of our lovely night out at a place called Loopstraat in Potchefstroom I had a few questions to ask her which completely caught her off-guard and they went as follow:
1. What’s your favourite memory of us together, and why is it so special to you?
It’s hard for me to pick one memory but if I had to choose, it would be our wedding day. That day was the highlight of our journey and felt like the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
1. What’s one thing you admire most about me?
I admire your heart, unwavering love and compassion towards everyone around you, and your generosity in giving back.
1. What’s your idea of a perfect date night, and how can I make it happen? My idea of a perfect date night is a surprise. Whether were going out or staying in, just knowing that you’ll plan something special makes me feel loved and cherished.
Just hearing these answers made me fall in love all over again, it made me appreciate the small things in life that are often forgotten. To know that even when spending time away from home trying to make impactful change in communities, doing a project here, traveling to there, that I have the full support of my wife and that means the world to me. Sometimes we get to busy in daily challenges and forget that even the smallest gestures can make a huge impact in our partners life. #Allabouther helped me realise that no matter how small or how big a surprise can be always do your best to make plans and spend time with your loved one, spoil her, pamper her, and treat her well.

Round Table Carletonville50 Leads the Charge to Support Little Xaviër
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and solidarity, Round Table Carletonville50, part of the STNOFS area, has once again stepped up to make a significant impact in our community. This time, the effort was focused on a cause that touched the hearts of many: helping Little Xaviër, a newborn in critical condition at Mediclinic Potchefstroom.
Born prematurely on August 19th, 2024, at just 34 weeks, Xaviër came into this world fighting for his life. The medical bills for his intensive care unit (ICU) stay quickly began to mount. With no medical aid to
cover these expenses, Xaviër’s family faced an overwhelming financial burden.
Recognizing the urgent need, Round Table Carletonville50 rallied their members and the broader Round Table Southern Africa community to take action. Through an incredible show of support, they raised over R30,000, which was used to pay off medical bills and sponsor essential baby products for Xaviër and his family. Tables from across the country, including as far as Kokstad and Bloemfontein just to name a few, contributed to this cause, showing the true power of unity and compassion.
A special shout-out goes to the STNOFS area, of which Round Table Carletonville50 is proud to be a part. The men in this area are doing extraordinary work, leaving our towns and communities in a better place through their relentless efforts and dedication.
We are thrilled to report that Xaviër is now home, full of life and energy, a testament to the collective efforts of everyone involved. This success story is a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together.
If you are inspired by this story and want to be part of an organization that makes a real difference, we invite you to get involved with Round Table Southern Africa. Whether you are interested in becoming a member or making a donation, your contribution can help us continue to support those in need.
For more information, please contact the STNOFS area Chairman, Riaan Greyling, at 078 098 1328. Together, we can keep making a positive impact, one life at a time.

We as Roundtable Vereeniging 20 where very privileged to host an Amazing blanket drive on the 5th of July 2024. We now that times are cold and people are in need so we put our heads together and held this event. We got in contact with Kevin Barbeau from Woman and Men Against Child abuse and they where able to help us get a donation from an anonymous donor of 200 brand new blankets in the access of R43000.00. On the night of the show Vereeniging showed up in style as the green army all hands where on deck and we where able to host a show for more than 100 people.
We received and extra 50 plus blankets in the area of R3000.00 plus. We saved so much doing this ourselves that we where able to save R20000.00 in cost with the help of the three artists and sound engineer playing a huge roll in doing in for free or at minimal cost. Sharky Town was an amazing host doing free give aways from their side to thank everyone for joining us. I would like to thank my Tablers for your support and help. Linda and Jurg Basson from Sharky Town for giving us their venue to use. Kevin Barbeau from Woman and Men Against Child Abuse. Kobus and Innes for the fotos. We held a charity project called Bat for charity on the 13th of April 2024, where we planned an Action cricket tournament at Vanderbijlpark indoor arena to invite the community and businesses to have a fun day out and at the same time having an awesome team building experience
We had our own boerie stand where we sold boerie rolls, and we got a lot of support from the community and from teams that came out to support us, we spent R950 on the day and made a total profit of R4500.it was however not the biggest project but worth every effort
We as Vereeniging 20 also signed in a team to play Cricket on the day. What was suppose to be only 1 game ended up being 3 games played. We managed to win 1 of the 3 games and a lot of sore body's for the next whole week
Overall super proud of all the efforts to make the day successful from all the brothers, this is the beginning of big things to come from V20

On the 17 of August , Round Table Vereeniging hosted a Bietjie Bowls day at Riverside Bowls Club in Vereeniging, the day started early at 8:30 and was a tad chillier than expected, yet the day turned out lekker warm. We didn’t expected to many players as this was a new project for V20 but had a much better turn out later in the day.
We were lucky to have some of the members assist the players that never had played before, and was honored that one of the Riverside Bowls Club members was a Vereeniging 20 member in the 80’s and was the same Tabler that introduced my father into Table, so thank you Mr Gary Marriot. The day broke for half time so we could watch the ruggas at Barnyard with a few Tablers.
Thank you RBC for your support, we will definitely run this project atleast 4 times a year.
