Editor’s Note Movember Edition
November already. The month of Movember and Brovember and we only have six months left of the year 2024. When we look back at the past year, we can summarise it in a couple of different ways. For some it was a year that went by too fast, and for some, the year does not want to come to an end. For me, it was an unexpected year, but filled with lessons, experiences and a whole bunch of memories.
With the above said, we can also think about the impact that has been made the year so far with all the effort that was put in and the time that was allocated to our communities and our own goals. We made an impact and these have been showcased in the past Inkundla's and social media, some were even broadcast on a national scale. The truth is out there and we are the ones behind it all.
The strength that one can get from one another is a true reflection of ourselves and our aims and objectives. Looking towards our campaigns regarding Men's Mental Health, Don't Camo Yourself and Movember, we see once again that there is strength in numbers. This is something that we should keep on chasing and also keep on enlarging.
This Edition shares some stories on bonds that were created, the impact that was made and relationships that were built. Showcasing once again what it means to be a part of this organization and what it brings to the Table.
We should also remember to keep on growing and improving ourselves. Just looking at the growth that happened during my term and the improvements made on the Inkundla are also a testimony of stepping out of your comfort zone and facing challenges head on.
To the readers and the contributors, I give you all my thanks and appreciation, as you are the ones who make it possible to deliver each month. You are the important ones, and we hope that you will keep on doing what you are doing.I hope that this edition will bring joy to you and inspire you in your own way. If anything, let it be a guideline for you to create impact, memories, lessons and so much more.

Rebuilding the Flagship Potchefstroom 47
The year started with challenges: three resignations, one transfer, and the loss of an experienced members to become a 41er. With only three active members to hold the fort, we relied heavily on our honorary member and the vibrant support of the 41ers community.
Despite these setbacks, we found strength in adversity. The struggles of the year taught us invaluable lessons, transforming us into resilient leaders. We were through into the deep end, but we found a way to manage. Our small but dedicated group continued our yearly projects, including a successful Golf Day, Winter Knigts and participating in our numbers meeting in RT47 Veendam, The Netherlands, where three of our four active member attended.
“Each year brings its own challenges and 2024 has been a pivotal year for RT Potch 47.”
We focused on strengthening our community ties and restructuring our communication. This effort brought new guests to our table, allowing us to learn from our 41ers while mentoring our new pipeliners. Upholding the decorum and prestige of our table was a priority, and despite doubts, we remained steadfast.
Flagship
As we faced losses, we welcomed three new pipeliners who quickly engaged and took on responsibilities, revitalizing our efforts. Our collective hard work culminated in a standout performance at the Summer Conference, where we shared emotional moments and celebrated our achievements.
Witnessing the table unite and rebuild was an honour. Our commitment and perseverance paid off, embodying the belief that "form is temporary, class is permanent”.
This journey serves as a motivation for all tables: regardless of circumstances, resilience and unity can lead to remarkable outcomes.
Here is to Round Table Potchefstroom 47, and to many more successful years that may still come.

STNOFS CENTRAL
A REFLECTION BY MELCOLM
TRI-AREA AT THE

STNOFS at the Central Matlosane 45
On the weekend of September 7, 2024, Round Table Hartz 186 played host to the highly anticipated Central Tri-Area meeting, and in classic STNOFS fashion, we arrived with flair. It was late Friday afternoon when the unmistakable Green Army rolled into town, slightly behind schedule but bringing the energy that has become our signature. After all, it wouldn’t be a true STNOFS arrival without a bit of theatrics! As soon as we touched down, the party officially began. With laughter, clinking glasses, and catching up with fellow Tablers, the atmosphere was electric. However, as the saying goes, “What happens on Friday night doesn’t always stay on Friday night.” By the next morning, the effects of our spirited welcome were evident in the bleary eyes of a few attendees. But like the true professionals they are, they powered through—because when the clock struck 9 AM, it was time to get serious.
The meeting kicked off with a significant moment for STNOFS. We had the honour of having two new members inducted into our ever-growing Green Army, and this induction was extra special. The RTSA President and Vice-President themselves conducted the ceremony, officially welcoming Ryno and Justin into our ranks. There’s something remarkable about being part of a moment like this, where new Tablers step forward, eager to take on the values and vision that make our organization so unique. It’s a reminder that we are always growing, not just in numbers but in spirit. Congratulations, Ryno and Justin! We look forward to seeing the impact you’ll make in STNOFS and beyond. Speaking of impact, we must also give a huge shout-out to Henro Louw, who took home the Impact Award for STNOFS. This accolade is no small feat, and it highlights Henro’s commitment to making a real difference in both our area and the communities we serve. Whether through charitable engagements, recruitment, or just being a solid presence at every event, Henro continues to push STNOFS forward, and we are all incredibly proud of his efforts.
Central Tri-Area
Once the opening ceremony wrapped up and the applause died down, we shifted gears and got into the business of the day. Each area went off to their respective halls, and for STNOFS, it was time to get down to the nitty-gritty. With notebooks out and coffee in hand, we tackled some of the big discussions needed to shape our future. One of the highlights of the day was an important partnership deal sealed by our very own Mr. Immediate Past President (IPP). He finalized an agreement with OFM, continuing our collaborative efforts to keep two crucial campaigns running—Bowling for Boobies and Chip for Charity. Both initiatives have become staples in our calendar, and it’s fantastic to know that they will carry on under the STNOFS banner. These events not only raise awareness for breast cancer and local charities but also bring our community together in a way that’s meaningful and fun. So, hats off to Mr. IPP for securing this vital partnership and ensuring that STNOFS remains at the forefront of these initiatives.

Melcolm van der Spuy
STNOFS at the Central Matlosane 45
Another key moment came when the STNOFS IRO presented a motion to amend the Travel Bingo draw process in our Standing Orders. The proposal was straightforward but impactful: shifting the draw from being table-based to focusing on individual Tablers. This change was aimed at simplifying the process, making it more reliable, and ensuring everyone has a fair shot at winning. After a solid discussion, the motion was voted in, marking a positive step toward streamlining one of our beloved traditions. To cap it all off, the lucky winner of the Travel Bingo draw was none other than Russel Human from Matlosane 45! Russel will soon be embarking on an exciting journey to Finland, representing STNOFS internationally—a proud moment for our area.
As the meeting progressed, we heard from the Chairmen of each Table, with each one giving their report on the state of their respective groups. It was incredibly motivating to hear the consistent theme of growth and progress. Despite the challenges that every Table faces, it’s clear that STNOFS as a whole is thriving. Membership numbers are on the rise, new initiatives are being launched, and the overall energy is one of optimism and momentum. The camaraderie between Tables is stronger than ever, and it’s heartening to see how we’re all pulling in the same direction, focused on building something bigger than ourselves.
The Central Tri-Area meeting wasn’t just about looking back at what we’ve achieved, though. It was about charting the course for what’s next. From future projects to refining the way we operate, the discussions held in that room will shape the future of STNOFS and our community work. The excitement is palpable, and as we wrapped up, there was a collective sense that we’re on the verge of something big.
Central Tri-Area
After the meeting, as we gathered for a group photo, it was impossible not to feel proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far this year. From growing our membership to solidifying key partnerships, STNOFS is moving from strength to strength. And while we’re always ready to have a good time, it’s moments like these that remind us of the real reason we do what we do—making an impact, building each other up, and creating a lasting legacy for future Tablers. In true STNOFS fashion, we ended the weekend with more than just tired feet and full hearts. We left with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to tackle the rest of the year with the same passion and enthusiasm we always bring. As we look forward to the next big event, we do so knowing that STNOFS is not just a collection of individuals or Tables—it’s a family, bound together by our shared values and commitment to making a difference.
So, here’s to another successful Tri-Area meeting, to new beginnings, and to the many adventures that lie ahead for the Green Army. Let’s keep pushing forward and building the future we know we can achieve—together.

Mini Hardway Down A
Ah, the allure of the open road, good company, and a cooler full of padkos! It was one of those trips that start with a plan but evolve into something far better. Matlosane 45 saddled up at 3 PM, two cars packed with eager members, ready for a mini Hardway down to Tri-Area in Hartswater. The mission: make memories, share a few drinks, and enjoy some legendary Round Table camaraderie.
First pit stop: Ultra Liquors. A crucial detour because no adventure is complete without a well-stocked cooler. As we filled up on essentials, the anticipation of the trip set in—laughter, banter, and the shared excitement of the night ahead.
“Nothing beats that moment when two groups of Tablers unite—the jokes are sharper, the drinks stronger, and the night more promising.”
Our next checkpoint was the Diggers Inn in Wolmaransstad, where we stopped for "refreshments" and waited to meet up with the Carletonville 50 boys. After the third round, we saw them coming in, and that’s when the fun really started. Nothing beats that moment when two groups of Tablers unite—the jokes are sharper, the drinks stronger, and the night more promising. With spirits high, we hit the road again, next destination: Bloemhof.
Journey Filled with Laughter, Melcolm
Down to Tri-Area
Local Pubs, and Brotherhood
The Why Not Pub was calling our name. It didn’t take long to learn why it’s called "Why Not"—by the time every second guy had offered us a drink and begged us to stay longer, we knew we were in the right place. Our original plan was to be there by 6 PM; we rolled in fashionably late at 7 PM. But who’s counting when you’re having this much fun?
By the time we hit Christiana, the night had taken on a life of its own. Someone had the bright idea to stop at the Hotel Pub, and that’s where things escalated. A "quick" visit turned into a fullblown party. The locals were curious about our matching shirts and what we were up to, so naturally, it was time to spread the word about Round Table.
We spent nearly two hours chatting, educating, and, of course, drinking with the locals, turning a simple stop into a highlight of the night. What was supposed to be a three-hour journey stretched into six, two empty coolers, and a single bag of chips later, but we finally made it to Tri-Area in Hartswater. And the night? Well, it only got better from there.
This trip wasn’t just about the destination—it was about the unexpected detours, the laughs, and the brotherhood that comes with being part of Round Table. Here’s to many more unplanned adventures and unforgettable Hardway trips!

STNOFS Bowling Day By Hannes Lourens

Bowling Day STNOFS
The STNOFS Lawn Bowls Day marked a fun and exciting new chapter for the Green Army! For the first time, STNOFS decided to try their hand at a Lawn Bowls Day, and boy, did it turn out to be a smashing success. The sun was out in full force, making it a hot but perfect day for bowls. Area members from all over STNOFS showed up in numbers, eager to enjoy a day of friendly competition, laughter, and camaraderie.
The day was filled with fun in the sun, with teams going head-to-head on the green, showing off their skills (or at least trying to!).
Despite the heat, the mood was light and playful, with members soaking up the good vibes and friendly banter between games. The beauty of Round Table events is always in the mix of competition and camaraderie, and this day was no exception.
The atmosphere was infectious, with everyone sharing in the joy of a new experience together.
A huge shout-out goes to Matlosane 45, who clinched victory and earned the bragging rights as the champions of STNOFS’s very first Lawn Bowls Day! Their precision and focus on the green paid off, leaving the other teams chasing their well-placed shots.
Matlosane 45 now holds the title to beat—so we expect some stiff competition next year! A massive thank you goes to Hannes and the entire Potch 47 team for hosting the day and making it such a memorable event.
The hydration was flowing, and let’s not forget about those legendary chicken quarters—arguably the best in Potch! Hannes and his team truly outdid themselves, ensuring everyone was well-fed, well-hydrated, and having a blast. Events like these wouldn’t be the same without the hard work and hospitality of our hosting teams, and Potch 47 delivered on all fronts.
We also need to extend a special thank you to the brains behind the operation, Dale Kirk, known fondly as "Action Man," and Riaan Greyling, our Area Chairman. These two worked tirelessly to plan and organize the day, making sure everything went off without a hitch. From arranging the venue to coordinating the teams, their efforts ensured that STNOFS's first Lawn Bowls Day was one to remember. Dale and Riaan, your dedication to the area doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re all grateful for the time and energy you put into making this event a reality.
In the end, the Lawn Bowls Day wasn’t just about who won (although, congrats again to Matlosane 45!)—it was about bringing the area together, trying something new, and having a fantastic time in the process. The STNOFS Lawn Bowls Day is sure to become a regular fixture on our calendar, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s edition. Here’s to more sunshine, more laughs, and maybe a little less heat next time!
Until then, STNOFS will continue to lead with both heart and humour, showing that no matter what the activity— whether it’s lawn bowls, community service, or just gathering for a good time—we’re stronger together.

A Full Table Once Again
A Night of Nostalgia, Growth, and Brotherhood at Matlosane 45
There’s a certain magic to a Round Table business meeting, but this one was unlike any we’ve had in recent memory. It wasn’t just another meeting—it was a milestone, a celebration of how far Matlosane 45 has come, and a reminder of where it all began.
For the first time in what felt like ages, every single one of the 13 seats around the table was filled. Not one chair sat empty. It was the perfect representation of our growth, strength, and unwavering commitment to Round Table’s ideals of fellowship, community service, and personal growth.
The moment that truly made the night, though, was the return of Hoppies. For those who don’t know, Hoppies was part of the original eight members who founded Matlosane 45. His presence at the meeting was a wave of nostalgia for many of us who remember the early days, and for the newer members, it was a chance to meet a cornerstone of our Table’s history. Having him back, seated with us, made the table feel complete again—like a puzzle piece that had been missing for too long was finally back in place.
There was something indescribable about the moment he sat down. The room shifted. Conversations that had once been focused on everyday logistics turned to old stories, laughs, and the many memories that came flooding back. Hoppies shared tales from the early days of Matlosane 45—of the struggles, the wins, the wild nights, and the hard work that went into building our Table into what it is today. His return reminded us all of the values we started with and how important it is to keep them alive as we move forward.
Matlosane
It wasn’t just Hoppies’ presence that made the night unforgettable, though. We were also joined by the members of Potchefstroom 47, who played a big role in making this meeting one for the books. The combination of old friends and newer members sitting shoulder to shoulder at a full table was an image none of us will soon forget. It was a true testament to the growth and fellowship that defines Round Table.
Seeing tables come together like that, sharing ideas and experiences, and contributing to the vision we all hold dear, is the essence of why we do what we do. The meeting itself was, of course, productive. We discussed plans, future projects, and ideas for community service.
But more than the business at hand, what really stood out was the energy in the room. There was laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of unity that only happens when a table is truly full—not just in numbers, but in spirit. Every person at that table was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and brotherhood that has brought Matlosane 45 to where it is today.
As we sat there, looking around the table at faces both familiar and new, there was a deep sense of pride in how far we’ve come. Matlosane 45 has grown, not just in size but in the strength of our bonds and the impact we’re making in our community. It was impossible not to reflect on the journey that has brought us here, from those early days with just eight members to now, with 13 seats filled and a growing future ahead of us.
Hoppies, you’ve been missed. Your stories, your spirit, and your presence have been a vital part of who we are as a Table. Having you back at the table with us felt like a reunion, not just of people, but of the values we hold close to our hearts. We hope this isn’t the last time we see you, because you’ll always have a seat at this table —whether there are eight members or thirteen, there will always be a spot for you.
“Looking ahead, the future of Matlosane
45
looks brighter than ever. “
We’ve come a long way, but we know there’s still so much more to accomplish. This meeting wasn’t just a reminder of our past, but a clear sign that we’re on the right track. We’re growing, we’re thriving, and we’re moving forward with more strength and determination than ever before.
Here’s to more full tables, more nights of nostalgia, more shared laughs, and more milestones for Matlosane 45. And to Hoppies— thank you for being a part of this journey, and we can’t wait to see you again soon, my friend. Because at Matlosane 45, once you’re part of the Table, you’re always part of the Table.

Charity Golf Day 2024 A Scorching Day of Fun, Fellowship, Stutterheim 103
In the searing heat of 2024, the Stutterheim Round Table Charity Golf Day teed off, bringing the community together for a day of fun and generosity under the sun. After a year-long break, excitement had built up for this much-anticipated event. Despite the intense weather, golfers and non-golfers alike came out in full force to support a great cause.
As temperatures soared, the camaraderie among participants was even hotter. Teams of golf enthusiasts and first-timers, joined the Tablers in competed in a friendly 4-ball scramble. Despite the heat, everyone remained upbeat, working together to stay hydrated and keep the good times rolling.
The 4-ball scramble format was a perfect choice for such a hot day, allowing everyone to contribute without too much pressure. With the sun blazing down, the focus was on having fun, and though the heat made some shots more challenging, the laughter and team spirit shone through. Friendly banter and encouraging words echoed across the course, helping players push through the sweltering conditions.
Mulligans were available for purchase, giving golfers a chance to fix their shots while also adding an extra layer of excitement to the game. These mulligans not only spiced things up but also underscored the community’s commitment to supporting one another in every aspect of the event.
The day wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of the sponsors, who provided not only essential refreshments but also fantastic prizes. Their support transformed a scorching day on the golf course into a lively celebration of community and fellowship. Thanks to their contributions, the event was packed with incredible giveaways, making the day all the more rewarding for those involved.
2024 Fellowship, and Giving Back
Prizes were awarded to all the teams who demonstrated impressive skill and teamwork in the heat. Special recognition was given to the two players closest to the pin, a remarkable achievement considering the challenging conditions. One team was also celebrated for their outstanding sportsmanship, showing that even under the blazing sun, it wasn’t just about winning—it was about enjoying the game and the company of friends.
While the competition was light-hearted and the prizes plentiful, the true spirit of the day was about giving back. The event served as a powerful reminder of how the Stutterheim community comes together for a greater purpose. In the midst of the heat, there was a palpable sense of unity and compassion that radiated from every participant.
As the final putts were sunk and the sun began to dip, players left the course sweaty but fulfilled, their hearts full from a day of laughter, teamwork, and giving. Though the sun blazed relentlessly, the Stutterheim Round Table Charity Golf Day shone even brighter, proving that when people come together with a shared purpose, they can make a lasting impact. This year’s event was not just about golf; it was a celebration of generosity, friendship, and the enduring power of community.

A Pipeliner’s Perspective
As a pipe-liner attending my first Oktoberfest conference meeting with Round Table, I was thoroughly impressed by how well the event was organized and executed.
From the moment the meeting began, it was clear that the area representatives had carefully planned every aspect, ensuring it ran smoothly and adhered closely to the agenda.
Having attended Tri-Area (as a guest), I was not too unfamiliar with the format of an area meeting and the professionalism that Round Table upholds in these meetings.
Oktoberfest, however, felt different; the atmosphere felt more welcoming, and the general vibe of the meeting seemed more relaxed. This seemed to lead to far greater engagement from all members present.
Oktoberfest 2024 Tristan Currin
Despite being a newish pipe-liner, I felt completely comfortable participating in discussions and providing my own perspective and opinions on topics throughout the meeting.

Oktoberfest 2024 A Pipeliner’s Perspective
I even felt compelled to make a comment during the meeting that was not only heard but actively encouraged by many members. It is clear that the leaders value input from all attendees, regardless of their membership status, and this left me with a strong impression of the collaborative spirit within Round Table.
Another particularly memorable moment for me, were two members receiving the Sargent’s level 2 fines for stepping a bit out of line. All I can say is the rest of the room was left in hysterical laughter thanks to these 2 member’s sacrifices and it was a great reminder of the camaraderie that exists within the group.
A shoutout goes to the hosts (Westville189), for going the extra mile to make the meeting venue feel homely and for adding to the enjoyable experience by ensuring that drinks were always charged throughout the meeting.
In summary, as a pipe-liner, my experience attending Oktoberfest was overwhelmingly positive. The event was well-organized, the atmosphere was inclusive, and the focus on collaboration and humor made me feel genuinely valued as a future member of Round Table. Oktoberfest has inspired me to partake even more in table and will be a memorable day in my tabling career.
MY JOURNEY ROUND
A Tale of Fellowship and Growth By Gert
ROUND TABLE EY WITH
In 2021, I embarked on a journey that would profoundly shape my understanding of leadership and community service by joining the Round Table. Although my official induction came only in 2023, my fascination with the inner workings of this esteemed association was immediate. From the very beginning, I was eager to learn more and engage deeply with those who guide and shape our great association.
A Memorable Introduction
I was thrilled to be invited to my first ASSCO meeting, standing in for my Area Chairman. This opportunity was exciting, as it allowed me to witness firsthand the leadership dynamics and participate in meaningful discussions. My anticipation to learn and contribute was palpable, driven by a desire to grow both my table and our area.

The Roadtrip To Secunda
My wife and I embarked on a memorable road trip from Mossel Bay to Secunda, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Upon our arrival on Friday afternoon, we were welcomed with open arms. Despite only knowing a few of the delegates, we were greeted with open arms and literal hugs, embodying the spirit of the saying, "I met old friends for the first time."
Friday Night Festivities
The weekend kicked off with a traditional shirt party on Friday night. The atmosphere was electric, with camaraderie and laughter flowing late into the night, setting the tone for a dynamic and engaging weekend. The hashtag #AankomsAgressie perfectly captured the vigour with which we began our gathering.
Saturday's Meetings and Activities
Saturday’s meeting was a highlight, where important and urgent matters were discussed in a productive and enjoyable manner. What stood out to me was the shared commitment to common goals, the willingness to challenge each other's viewpoints constructively, and the collaborative spirit that aimed for better results without stepping on each other’s toes. It was a perfect blend of seriousness and fun, highlighting the unique culture of our association.

Ladies' Tour and Community Service
While we engaged in our meetings, the ladies were treated to a magnificent tour. My wife, Aliesha, couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed the experience. Additionally, they participated in a community service activity by visiting an old age home, demonstrating our association’s commitment to giving back.

Conclusion of the Weekend
The weekend culminated in a lively Mozambique theme night, where we managed to collect funds for a young boy in hospital, needing some funds. It was a fulfilling end to an enriching weekend, underscoring the impact we can have through our collective efforts.

SOCIAL

MEETING
Mark Kissler
Marketing 101 The darts club inquiry
Perhaps we as Tablers are oblivious to the fact that not everyone in our community knows what Round Table is, what we stand for and what we do. It is time to create awareness again.
This is in no way a rant but an opportunity for introspection. On Saturday, the 11th of May 2024, we as Round Table Windhoek 34 had a very pleasant social meeting at the Elisenheim Farmer’s Kitchen restaurant on the northern outskirts of our capital. Our chairman made the booking well in advance and upon on arrival some members and legs were asked by other patrons of this hospitality establishment as to whether we are a darts club. Such a question was prompted as many of us wore the latest sublimated t-shirts and the question is valid.
We as a club and part of a much greater global organization do not seek fame and fortune through membership. Our aims and objectives are clearly defined. To that end it remains our responsibility and fiduciary duty coupled to pride of being an integral part of the international brotherhood to create more awareness.
This honorable duty does not lie with the PRO alone but with every member. We owe it to Round Table and those whom we serve to make our communities knowledgeable about our institution and what we stand and strive for to make that all important impactful change.
We live in the age where information is at our fingertips and the most ludicrous so-called influencers with nonsense “content” have a significant followership whereas noble establishments such as the 97-year-old Round Table are left in the dark. Windhoek 34 is just shy of 1,500 followers on Facebook and exactly 750 at the time of compiling this article. The aim of our social media is never to chase numbers but to crucially reach the larger public and members of commerce in decision-making positions to be informed of our upliftment projects that help those in need and who are less fortunate as are we.
With many projects, such as the association-wide Winter Knights for example, on the far end of the runway and ready for take-off, metaphorically speaking, it is up to us to promote ourselves and thus gathering support to make a meaningful change.
Though the Covid-19 pandemic has been in our rearview mirrors for some time now, it has had dire consequences for many Namibians and mother earth as a whole. A lot of employed persons lost their jobs that were later declared redundant whilst other industries have not yet recovered in full. A lot of breadwinners and their dependents are still reliant on their monthly salary that was cut due to the pandemic, and which has, to date, not been amended to former levels as the economy is struggling to grow and show signs of rehabilitation in many sectors.
With our club being relatively healthy in terms of membership numbers and doing great in fellowship and mutual respect for one another, it remains mandatory that we hold high the Round Table banner and brag about our virtuous achievements that can change the lives of so many.
In closing you are herewith challenged to talk about Round Table in your circle. Tell your boss about an upcoming project. Show your siblings photos of a handover and always ensure to incorporate your partner on the latest business of your club. For we are only men and much stronger with our legs who support us on our journey that gives back bountiful. There is no better return on investment than your Round Table career.
Are you ready to make RT a hot topic for discussion for all the right reasons?

Round Table International World Meeting 2024
The Round Table International World Meeting 2024 (RTIWM24), held in Maastricht, Netherlands, from September 18 to September 22, marked an incredible milestone in my journey with Round Table. This event was not only a meeting of diverse minds and cultures but also a platform for exchanging insights, building camaraderie, and fostering growth. My journey began a week earlier with a prelude across Europe, setting the stage for what would become an unforgettable experience filled with warmth, inspiration, and friendship.
My journey started in the scenic coastal town of Vlissingen, situated in the southwestern part of the Netherlands near the Belgian border. This beautiful city, known for its picturesque harbors and historic charm, welcomed me with open arms. Roy Willard, from RT Walcheren 26, generously hosted me, introducing me to his city’s maritime beauty and inviting me to meet other fellow tablers. Their hospitality embodied the values of brotherhood and kindness that define Round Table, making this initial part of my journey unforgettable. On Wednesday, September 18, Roy and I embarked on a scenic three-hour drive from Vlissingen to Maastricht.
Upon our arrival in Maastricht, we completed registration for the RTIWM24, receiving our welcome packages filled with thoughtful items that demonstrated the Dutch team’s meticulous planning. Later that evening, the Welcoming Night served as a wonderful kickoff to the conference, gathering tables from across the globe in celebration. Here, we shared not only drinks and laughs but also exchanged pins, coins, and keepsakes, each one a symbol of the friendships and traditions we hold dear. The theme, "meeting old friends for the first time," was truly felt, as each encounter underscored the profound unity that transcends borders and backgrounds.
International
The conference began in earnest on Thursday, with the Councilors' Meeting providing a platform for knowledge exchange, introspection, and growth. Listening to the various practices and insights from tables around the world was an invaluable experience, demonstrating how adopting, adapting, and improving from each other’s experiences is a powerful way to enrich our organizations and our communities.
Thursday evening introduced us to Dutch culture in unforgettable style with a carnival-themed get-together. Lively and authentic, this “ICONIC” celebration reflected the camaraderie and joyous spirit of our Dutch hosts.
It was an evening filled with laughter, music, and color, showcasing the fellowship and openness that define the Round Table International community.
Friday, the AGM, a significant part of the event where members reviewed the achievements of the past year and set goals for the future. It was an opportunity for thoughtful discussions, accountability, and planning as we looked at the future trajectory of RTI. The highlight of the AGM was the election of the new council, a moment of pride and anticipation for the road ahead.

Later that evening, Nation’s Night presented an inspiring cultural tapestry, with representatives from different countries sharing their native foods, customs, and stories. It was a beautiful reminder of the diversity within RTI, where each nation brings its unique heritage into our collective identity. The well-attended event was not only a feast for the senses but also a reflection of our shared commitment to mutual respect and understanding.
On Saturday, the regional meeting proved to be another proud moment, as the newly elected AMI Chairman hailed from my own association, RTSA, Mr. Louis Radley, our Immediate Past President. Sitting in as minute secretary for the AMI Regional Meeting, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and pride, grateful for the opportunity to witness the progress and passion within our region.
As the day turned to evening, anticipation grew for the Gala Dinner, held at the exquisite Château St. Gerlach. The venue itself, nestled amidst stunning landscapes and historical architecture, was a marvel. This final night epitomized the thoughtful planning and dedication of our Dutch brothers, who created a graceful and memorable conclusion to the meeting. The ambiance was one of celebration, gratitude, and shared accomplishment, each moment underscoring the lasting connections forged throughout the event.
International
Reflecting on the journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences, friendships, and insights that RTIWM24 provided. The event reinforced the importance of Round Table’s values, community, learning, and international fellowship. For any member of RTSA considering attendance at a future world meeting, I wholeheartedly encourage it. The knowledge, joy, and connections you gain are genuinely life-enhancing.
As I return home, I am energized by a renewed commitment to the Round Table spirit and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. The 2024 RTI World Meeting in Maastricht was more than a gathering; it was a journey of personal growth, shared memories, and collective inspiration.

36 Walvis Bay RT on the RT
From May 15 to May 19, members of Round Table Walvis Bay 36 ventured into the heart of adventure as they participated in the annual Rough and Tough rally, traversing the challenging terrain of the Namib Desert. This adrenaline-fueled journey led them through various excursions, tricky routes, and formidable obstacles, testing both their skills and determination. However, amidst the thrill of the rally, the members found a way to extend their support to local villages and community members in need.
During the rally, the Round Table Walvis Bay 36 team took the opportunity to make a difference by donating blankets and food to those less fortunate in the surrounding communities. Their acts of kindness were met with open arms and heartfelt gratitude from the recipients, underscoring the impact of their charitable efforts. Inspired by their initiative, other participants in the rally followed suit, contributing various clothes and foods as the event progressed.
Beyond the adventure and philanthropy, the Rough and Tough rally served a greater purpose. The collective efforts of all participants culminated in raising an impressive sum of over NAD 1.5 million towards the Cancer Association of Namibia. This substantial contribution reflects not only the spirit of camaraderie and generosity within the rally community but also the profound impact they have in supporting vital causes.
As the rally draws to a close, the Round Table Walvis Bay 36 members express their gratitude to the organizers and planners for orchestrating such a memorable event. They extend their appreciation to the more than 400 participants, as well as fellow Tablers and 41ers, whose participation and support made the rally a resounding success. For the members of Round Table Walvis Bay 36, being part of this noble and adventurous endeavour has been a source of immense pride and fulfilment, reaffirming their commitment to making a positive difference in their community and beyond.
