From the LCSA President

We can all look forward to an amazing year.

My very first chapter of 2023 was becoming President. When reaching my goal, a new motto unlocked: “Do what you Love, Love what you do”. For me, I feel that if you do what you love, you will not be working a day in your life and therefore enjoy every moment. This is true not only for Ladies Circle but also for Round Table.

Talking about love, don’t you just love the Women around you: Your Mom, Grandma, Wife, Lover, or even your daughter? Appreciating the effort your loved one puts into everything they do for you can never be overrated. I would like to use this opportunity to share how the Women of Ladies Circle has taken the words “Friendship and Service” to heart. We have chartered 2 new circles and will charter 2 more before my term ends. Not only have we grown in number of Circles by 27% but if everything works out like we have planned we will grow Ladies Circle by 78% in membership this year. Yes, we are very small, we started with 11 circles and will probably end with 15 Circles.

I would like to leave you with Michelle Obama Quote: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”

An interesting fact about the 9th of August:

National Women's Day is a South African public holiday celebrated annually on 9 August. The day commemorates the 1956 march of approximately 20,000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country's pass laws that required South Africans defined as "black" under The Population Registration Act to carry an internal passport, known as a passbook, that served to maintain population segregation, control urbanisation, and manage migrant labour during the apartheid era.[1] The first National Women's Day was celebrated on 9 August 1995.

We are so honored to have an official side-by-side with Round Table. Project Lily where fabric masks were collected and converted into reusable sanitary pads. A total of 1060 masks were donated and a total of 373 girls could go to school as they did not have to be ashamed or stay at home. This was an amazing project, and we are still collecting mask as there is so many more girls that desperately need our help.

Please feel free to join any of the following Circles in their celebration of Women’s Month:

Ladies Circle 4 Louis Trichardt will be running a Lady of the Year award. Send me a photo of your favorite Lady. (08 44 00 99 41). The voting will be done by SMS which costs R10 per SMS. The competition will run from the 1st to 30th August.

Results will be posted by 11 September 2023.

Ladies Circle 22 Swellendam is going to spoil the AA Thomlinson Old age Home.

Ladies Circle 24 Santon is packing Jars of hope with Doorway to Dignity they want to do 670 jars.

Our new Ladies Circle In Formation Midlands is doing a sanitary drive with the SAPS & Ladies Circle 28 Newcastle. They have currently 2000 packets of pads that they are donating.

Ladies Circle 29 Port Alfred is hosting a Woman Empowerment Seminar on the 9th of August. They will have the following guest speakers: Kerryn Watson, Susan Coetzee, Anne Willemse and Ingrid Groenewald. Contact Sunnette for more information (072 571 0592)

Congratulations on all the projects you have already done and good luck with all the upcoming projects. Thank you for everyone's efforts to make our world a better place.

Ladies Circle Estcourt in formation

On the 27th May 2023 we braved the cold and stood outside Pick n Pay to collect non-perishable food for Estcourt 74 “Winter Knights” drive. This was something special, to ask our community for help and to see the amount of help that was given, was amazing!

On the 15th June 2023, we were escorted by the Estcourt Police to a local homeless shelter where we handed out blankets and food packs to families. This opened up our eyes and we all realized that giving back to the community is why we started Ladies Circle in Estcourt. To see the faces of the people light up that have nothing, made our day.

We look forward to continue working with Estcourt Round Table 74.

JACARANDA LADIES CIRCLE IN FORMATION

At Jacaranda Ladies Circle In Formation, we believe in the power of giving and its ability to transform lives. Our commitment to helping the less fortunate remains unwavering.

Jacaranda Ladies Circle – In Formation together with Round Table 136 had the opportunity to host a house cleaning project. Our beneficiary for the project was Careson Angel.

We managed to gather so many items, we needed five vehicles and a number of hands to deliver all the products collected. It warmed our hearts to see that so many people care enough to get rid of the “white elephants” in their homes.

We will definitely have another drive very soon!

A very big thank to the Round Table 136 gentleman who assisted and who also lent a hand with the delivery!

Through these initiatives, we aim to not only alleviate immediate hardships but also create sustainable change that uplifts individuals and communities. We are grateful to our dedicated supporters and donors whose contributions enable us to continue giving hope to the less fortunate.

By focusing our resources and efforts on helping those in need, we strive to build a more inclusive and compassionate society, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

CHARTER WEEKEND

PORT ALFRED LADIES CIRCLE NO. 29

A great weekend was had by all guests, Circlers, Tablers and other organization members. Over the weekend from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2023 we all got together to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

A social took place on the 23rd at the Port Alfred Round Table 177 clubhouse with great food, roaring fires, good music and best of all, fantastic company.

The morning of the 24th started with coffee and breakfast followed with our Charter Meeting where we were officially announced as Port Alfred Ladies Circle No. 29.

After concluding our meeting, we took part in some fun Boere games that had very interesting outcomes and lots of jokes.

Saturday evening, we had our Charter Dinner at a beautiful venue with river and ocean views. With many beautiful speeches, some tears and lots of excitement our Chairman, Melissa Marais, was inducted and our Portfolio holders and members were introduced.

Sunday morning followed with a quick breakfast in pyjamas and last fellowship that concluded the weekend.

We are so extremely grateful for each and every one who had a hand in helping during this weekend, to each person who joined us and celebrated with us.

We are thankful that our LCSA Madam President, Riana Otto, LCSA Vice Chairman, Yolandi Gray-Brown, LCSA Webmaster, Cindy Tutton, and Godmother Circle PE Pearls Ladies Circle 19 could join us for the weekend and share in this joyous moment.

We are excited for our future and being part of the Circle family.

WITBANK LADIES CIRCLE 26 –GOLF DAY FUNDRAISER

The Witbank Ladies Circle 26 has always been a proud and loving supporter of the Witbank SPCA. The SPCA is currently in desperate need, sitting in nearly R100 000 worth of debt, needing to fix up their cattery and their dog runs. Witbank LC26 worked a hole at the Casa Portuguese Golf Day on the 23rd of June 2023 at the Witbank Golf Club.

The ladies served Oesterkies and sold raffle tickets as well as giving a prize for the auction at the end of the day. All the funds raised have been dedicated to the SPCA. The ladies managed to raise nearly R20 000 on the day. With massive support and sponsorships from Booyco Engineering and Nutape. It was not only a great day for fund raising, but for marketing and friendship too!

The ladies met plenty of people and flew the LCSA flag high while having Round Table 126 show their support as well.

LADIES CIRCLE 06 VEGGIE GARDEN

The Dowerglen High School appealed to the Edenvale community for assistance as the school was in dire straits from the past few years of neglect. The school has approximately 300 children that the school assists in feeding them, as in some cases, it is their only meal for the day.

Edenvale Ladies Circle 6 approached the school to aid in setting up a veggie garden that can be maintained by the school and upon the full growth of the vegetables, the veggies are then prepared in the school’s kitchen to feed those in need. So not only are the students taught how to tend to the garden and ensure its growth, but students are also taught within the kitchen on how to prepare meals. Win Win!

We were so grateful to receive more than expected donations of many types of seedlings and seeds of vegetables, 20 compost bags, a wheelbarrow, numerous garden tools, a hosepipe with its fittings, sprinklers, watering cans etc were all donated for the start-up of the veggie garden. How amazing was this!

We spent a lovely crisp morning with family and friends to till the ground, plant seeds and seedlings with a set up using dill stocks with rows of string guiding us on where to plant, and of course much needed refreshments were well received after a morning of hard work.

We received a donation from East London Ladies Circle 23 that gifted us with a fruit tree which will also be used as part of the garden and thank the ladies for the start of what we believe to have many fruit trees in the future!

A very big thank you to all of our sponsors, it is highly appreciated and without our sponsors, we would not have been able to pull off such a successful project.

We cannot wait to be checking in on the school when Spring arrives to see the progress.

FEED THE HUNGRY

In June Louis Trichardt Ladies Circle 4 helped pack crates for Feed the Hungry.

We arrived at 08:00 and started to help pack the crates. It was a bit of an exercise, Leigh’s arms were stiff for a week after picking up the heavy crates. Afterwards Cherise and Riana went with Feed the Hungry to deliver the crates at the homes.

Guide to treating a woman

1. Listen actively: Women want to feel heard and understood. Listen to their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without interrupting or dismissing them. Pay attention to their body language, tone of voice, and non-verbal cues to understand how they feel.

2. Communicate respectfully: Be polite and courteous in your communication withwomen. Avoid using derogatory language, speaking down to them, or makingsexist jokes or comments. Be honest and transparent about your intentions and feelings.

3. Show respect: Treat women with respect and dignity at all times. Be mindful of their personal space, opinions, and boundaries. Avoid making unwelcome advances or being flirtatious 99% of the woman at any table function is a wife of a Tabler.

4. Be chivalrous: While chivalry has evolved over time, there are still some gestures that can show respect and appreciation for women. Open doors, offer to carry heavy items, and be a gentleman in your actions and demeanour.

5. Be patient and understanding: Women may have different perspectives and experiences than men, so it's important to be patient and understanding with them. Try to see things from their point of view and be empathetic to their feelings.

6. Treat all women equally: Whether it's your wife, daughter, sister, friend, or colleague, treat all women with the same level of respect and dignity. Avoid making assumptions or treating them differently based on their gender.

7. Take responsibility for your actions: If you make a mistake or offend a woman, take responsibility for your actions, and apologize sincerely. Learn from your mistakes and strive to do better in the future.

First Lady’s Message

Dear Tablers (Wives & Partners),

August is a magical month as it starts with the last days of winter and takes us into spring – it starts the change of the seasons as tabler’s start to drive Impactful Change in our communities. I am thankful that Round Table is a family affair, and that woman can also play a positive part with their husbands, in the good that RTSA is doing. Men and woman should stop competing with each other and rather work as a unit, together we can do and accomplish so much more. Men, thank you for making us feel special, making us part and treating us with respect! Ladies, lets thrive to celebrate, encourage, and inspire each other.

The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of exciting and challenging times for our family, but we are grateful to be part of this journey and is thankful to everyone – you’ve all had such a positive impact in our lives.

Kind Regards

RTSA First Lady 2023/24

President’s Message

Dear fellow Tablers,

August is Woman’s month and certainly more than ever the time, to do something special for the ladies in our lives and to acknowledge that the Woman can do many things that men cannot and that they inspire us to be better men. We should always remember this and maybe just share it more often than we usually do. Diane Mariechild was correct when she said-

I was privileged in the last month to attend a Mpumalanga mass raid, the KZN Tri-Area in Richards Bay & 2nd ASSCO Meeting in Kirkwood. The RTI World Meeting is around the corner and I’m excited to say that this will be the best World Meeting ever!!! Well done to Graham Cornelissen and his team for arranging this event and good luck with the last arrangements – You guys will make RTSA proud!!!!

Adventure: Unveiling the "Groot Voel Paradys"

Let me regale you with the tale of my recent escapade down to the South Cape, where an unforgettable experience awaited me, accompanied by some rather cold refreshments.

On the 23rd of June, accompanied by my fiancé, we set off on a quest to unravel the secrets of the famed "Groot Voel Paradys." Our mission? To immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of our neighbouring Round Table Area and create memories that would last a lifetime.

Friday night burst forth with an unexpected twist. Little did I know that my nickname, "the detective," had preceded me to the Southern Cape Area, setting the stage for me to resolve a few pressing cases involving the notorious Castle Light. The night was a whirlwind of laughter

and joy, as if I were reuniting with long-lost friends.

With Saturday morning's arrival, a peculiar sight greeted me. It seemed that all the attendees, with their bloodshot eyes resembling the aftermath of a fierce welding competition, had experienced a night of unparalleled revelry. My younger brother, Zach, had the honour (or misfortune) of being hosted by the esteemed Mario "Lid" Maree, who generously allowed him a mere two hours of rest before the meeting commenced.

Despite the sleep-deprived appearances, the meeting unfolded seamlessly, akin to a well-choreographed performance. I was astounded by the South Cape Area's significant impact on their communities, transcending

their modest size. Witnessing the similarities and differences in how they conducted their meetings sparked a surge of inspiration, promising a wave of fresh ideas to be brought back to the WPA council.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly urge all Tablers to embark on their own journeys beyond the familiar confines of their clubs. Venture into uncharted territory, as the South Cape did for me, and unlock a world of wisdom and fellowship. Let's break free from the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary experiences that await us.

Yours in Table

Fellowship and Friendship

Good day all Tablers, Pipe liners, Guest and 41Ners. I trust you are all well.

Foxie Lieuwes here from Middelburg 126 Chairman. Would like to share our venture on the Boksburg 17 Raid we had. And “Boy oh Boy” was this an awesome experience.

It all started about 2 weeks before Boksburg 17 had their Business Meeting and Mnr Cuan Maizey their Chairman called me up and asked if we could possibly join their meeting and collect all our Goods, they have Raided from us earlier in the year.

Off course I asked my Fellow Tablers, Pipe liners and Guest if they were interested to go down and Raid Boksburg17. They all agreed, and we started the planning of this evening on our own little What’s app group. I then also asked Secunda 231 to join in on this occasion and added them to the Group too. About 6 days prior to the meeting the Vice Chairmans of Boksburg 17 also got onboard with the What’s app Group and Communication was done to perfection.

So, the evening we arrived a little bit late as per usual we always would

like to make a good impression on arrival. I saw there was a few more vehicles than expected but anyhow we walked in and politely asked the Chairman if we could please have part of his meeting. The answer was yes but to please make a turn at the Sargent before we take a seat.

Now the Sargent had a very Cute and Feminine delicacies we had to test and enjoy. Thank You Mnr Sargent for what you have prepared you were most Honourable and Fair but you still a ……….s. So, we took in our seats and enjoyed a meeting.

Now I have been to a few meetings in my years of Round Table, and this was very Special as for a Business Meeting there was 10 Clubs in Total and guys this in not a BMG, nor is it a Tri Area not even a Area Meeting or Asco and Small ARTSA. Guys just think having so many Clubs willing to drive through for a Business Meeting is super Special. This is why Round Table is so strong and the Brotherhood, Friendship, Fellowship and Relationship is so strong.

Thank you to the Following Clubs (1) Middelburg 126, (2) Secunda 231, (3) Potch 47, (4) Golden East 181, (5) Edenvale 63, (6) Jukskei 217,

(7) Roodepoort 162i, (8) Florida 21, (9) Northridge 117, (10) Boksburg 17,

You Guys Rock this was very special and a huge privilege to witness and be part of such an event. I feel very sorry for Boksburg 17 who was hosting this Business Meeting at their Clubhouse as I am fully aware that they might not have any Memorabilia and Items left for any other table to Raid. I would suggest any other table to postpone the Raids at Boksburg 17 for about 6 Months as I think that would be an estimate Period to have all their Belonging’s back.

All I can say is good luck Collecting and have fun. Hope to see you guys soon for collection and may we just build a stronger and stronger Bond between all tables. Also, Potch 47 you guys are on the radar next be vigilant and aware Middelburg 126 will be arriving in numbers.

Thank you all for everything Have a great year and safe travels.

Kind Regards Foxie Lieuwes Middelburg 126 Chairman.

Empowering Our Community Middelburg 126

Wooden Dollar Project

As a proud member of Round Table Middelburg 126, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy and pride as I reflect on our recent Wooden Dollar Project. Every year, we come together as a brotherhood to make a meaningful impact on our community, and this year was no different.

The Wooden Dollar Project holds a special place in our hearts. It's a heartfelt initiative where we call upon our community to donate items of value – blankets, clothes, shoes, toys, and baby goods – that can help those in need. The response we received was incredible; our fellow Tablers, their families, friends, and the generous Middelburg community all stepped up to show their support.

Working alongside our friends from Round Table Secunda 231, who generously donated blankets, we meticulously gathered, sorted, and tallied every item with immense dedication. Seeing the collective effort and the willingness to give

back filled me with hope and inspiration.

And the results were astounding! Thanks to the compassion and generosity of our community, we collected a remarkable R 5280 worth of men's clothes and shoes, R 18,050 worth of women's clothes and shoes, and R 5360 worth of children's clothes. In total, we gathered a staggering R 28,690 in items that would go on to make a real difference in people's lives.

What warms my heart even more is knowing that these packages were distributed to care homes, child homes, and families facing tough times. The impact we made is a testament to the power of unity and empathy – together, we can bring hope and joy to those who need it most.

The Wooden Dollar Project is not just about material donations; it's about empowering our community and fostering a sense of togetherness.

It's a reminder that we all play a part in creating a better tomorrow, and through our acts of kindness, we can build a brighter future for Middelburg.

I'm truly grateful to be part of Round Table Middelburg 126, a group of individuals who are dedicated to uplifting others and spreading positivity. Our Wooden Dollar Project is a beautiful example of the impact we can make when we work together as a family.

If you're looking for a way to make a difference and be part of something truly meaningful, I encourage you to join us at Round Table Middelburg 126. Together, we can continue to empower our community and make a lasting impact on the lives of those around us.

Kanonkop Spar Food Drive Middelburg 126

On Saturday 1st of July, we held our annual Round Table food drive. With a great pleasure we can announce that it was a huge a success.

The food drive started at 08:30 at Kanonkop Spar, with all the round table members, pipeliner and guests setting up the gazebos, banners and tables for the day to begin. We started handing out our R10 to customers entering Kanonkop spar, and in return we asked for any non-perishable food for charity, and to our surprise the goodhearted members of our community started coming out with more than just one non-perishable food item, with some even brining out a whole trolly full of food, which enabled us to gather more than R15000 worth of food for our local Care Village orphaned house of good hope

From Middelburg Round Table 126 we would like to thank all of the good-hearted community members of Middelburg that helped support the food drive. It is because of a great community such as Middelburg that make it possible for the Round Table to do what we do.

From Middelburg Round table 126 to the community of Middelburg, a warm thank you!

Western Province Area Mass raids

Last year the Western Province Area has embarked on a three-year plan to galvanize the bonds between Round Table brothers in this Area. The idea of this plan came from one of own Legends of Table, Past Area Chairman Buurman Bezuidenhoudt, who believes in the BASICS… but what are the basics of Tabling you may ask?? It’s easy, Friendship, Fellwoship, Family. These are the three pillars that needs to be the fundamentals in your Table/Area to have HEALTHY MEMBERSHIP…

Year one saw us focus on Friendship. We encouraged Tablers to meet up and share experiences. Speaking to anyone a list may be hard to draw up, but just sit and talk and

the moments of friendship quickly surface with smiles and stories. Year two is the year of Fellowship. This is where the bonds of Friendship are galvanized and true fellows of one calling suddenly surface. Mass raids have been a major contributor in this purpose with at least one mass raid in our area per month, sometimes even two!

The tales from these mass raids are epic and the feedback always the same! It really is special more than 3 or 4 Chairmen attend one meeting and the growth we can see in the quality of meetings and feedback are phenomenal. This just proves… Fellowship is the building blocks of IMPROVEMENT! Now where have we heard that word…. Improve!

Our last mass raid saw Somerset West 31 play host to 40 young men all with the same goal! No less than 8 Chairmen was present with the Area Chairman in attendance as well. We even had 5 guests to Round Table, just imagine how awesome this must seem for an outsider! Do I smell membership drives?

Next year we will use the momentum from these moments of fellowship and build a family within our Area. There’s only thing left to say…. WP jou lêkka ding!

Hospital bed Donation - Vereeniging 20

Vereeniging 20 received a request from a random phone call from a family that was in need of a hospital bed for a gentleman that had suffered a stroke not long ago, the current bed he was using was causing bed sores and needed a bed to assist with the long bed rest needed, our newest pipeliner Johan Engelbrecht and friend of Table Innes Erasmus made easy work of acquiring a bed from a doctors network group whereby beds are donated for these cases. The family were overjoyed and thanked us profusely...this just goes to show that not everyone can make a difference but when we can it goes further than we expect...Well done Yayehnaa

Round Tabler's Son and Friends of Potch 47 Give Back to the Community

A Cold Weekend in July Filled with Joy, Achievement, and Generosity

In the heart of Limpopo, on a chilly weekend in July, a group of dedicated individuals embarked on a hunting trip that would not only create lasting memories but also touch the lives of hundreds of children in need. Led by a Round Tabler and joined by his son and a group of compassionate friends of the Potch 47 Round Table, this adventure became a remarkable example of camaraderie, achievement, and community impact.

Among the hunting party was an

8-year-old boy Diego Menezes, the son of Potch 47 Round Tabler Mike Menezes. This expedition marked a special moment in his life as he aimed his sights and successfully shot his first buck. The sheer joy and sense of accomplishment radiated from him, serving as a testament to the importance of fostering a love for nature and instilling values of responsibility and conservation in the younger generation.

However, this hunting trip was about more than just personal achievements. Potch 47 Round Table, has always emphasized the significance of not only

having members but also building meaningful friendships beyond its ranks. The friends of Potch 47 who joined the hunting excursion exemplified this belief by their presence and their actions.

Recognizing the abundance of game they had acquired during their expedition, the friends of the Potch 47 made an extraordinary decision. Instead of keeping the meat for themselves, they unanimously agreed to donate all of it to Safe Haven, a local feeding scheme in Potch that feeds hundreds of children every week.

45’s Blood drive & Challenge

Let me share a hilarious and heartwarming adventure we had at Matlosane 45. Picture this: all eight of us, the dynamic crew of Matlosane 45, decided to embark on a blood donation extravaganza at our local South African National Blood Service (SANBS) center this winter. And boy, did we make quite the memorable impression!

We recognized the urgent need for blood during this chilly season, and as a tight-knit team, we were eager to make a difference. With our sleeves rolled up and spirits high, we strutted into the SANBS center, ready to donate our life-saving elixir.

But here’s the twist: our blood drive adventure wasn’t just about us. We’ve decided to take it up a notch and want to turn it into a friendly challenge for the other tables in the STNOFS area for the next Blood

drive. We’re on a mission to see who can donate the most blood in the upcoming blood drive, which we’ll proudly host at our very own clubhouse. May the best table win!

Now, back to the hilarious part. Our hero of the day was none other than Ettiene. Oh boy, did he give us a moment of panic! As he reclined in the donation chair, his eyes began to roll back, and before we knew it, he passed out cold! Talk about dedication! But fear not, folks, Ettiene’s superhero spirit prevailed, and he bravely continued his donation once he regained consciousness. We salute you, Ettiene!

We couldn’t be prouder of everyone who stepped up and contributed to this life-saving cause. It’s truly inspiring to witness the collective effort and impact we can make when we come together. Saving lives while

having a good laugh? Now that’s what I call teamwork!

So, to all our fellow tables and community members, get ready for the upcoming blood drive challenge! Let’s show our strength, camaraderie, and a dash of friendly competition as we roll up our sleeves to save lives.

A big shout-out to all those who support blood donation and help us make a difference. You’re the true superheroes in this story. I promised all the guys a beer afterwards, and held up my end of the bargain. The typical Pint for a Pint type of thing. Stay tuned for more updates on our quest to save lives and bring a touch of humor to the world of blood drives!

Warming up Klerksdorp one blanket at a time

In the midst of an exceptionally cold winter, 45 rose to the occasion, demonstrating compassion and solidarity by distributing over 300 blankets to those in need. These blankets were collected through the Martin Bester Warm Fest, where the community came together to support this important cause.

Recognizing the significance of warmth during these harsh weather conditions, we made a conscious effort to distribute the blankets to various organizations and individuals within our community. Three churches in Klerksdorp were the grateful recipients of these blankets, ensuring that those seeking solace and refuge have a source of comfort.

Additionally, we extended our support to the Dead Men Riding Christian Bikers Club, providing them with blankets to conduct their own blanket handout. By collaborating

with other organizations, we aimed to reach even more individuals who are most affected by the bitter cold.

Our commitment to making a difference didn’t end there. During our second roadside soup kitchen event, we utilized the remaining blankets to bring warmth and relief to those in attendance. No blanket was left unused, as we ensured that every last one found its way to someone who needed it.

It Is important to note that the cold winter this year has been particularly severe, leaving many individuals and families vulnerable to the elements. As a table we recognized this reality and made it a priority to help those who are struggling by providing them with a few blankets to alleviate their hardship.

We also directed our attention to the most vulnerable among us—babies in

need of warmth and care. All the baby blankets collected were generously donated to an orphanage, ensuring that even the youngest members of our community are protected from the biting cold.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative. Your support and generosity have made a significant impact on the lives of those facing the harsh realities of winter.

As we continue on our mission to uplift and support our community, let us remember the importance of coming together during challenging times. Together, we can bring warmth and comfort to those who need it most, fostering a community built on compassion and solidarity. YIT

Matlosane 45 Food Stall

For three consecutive weekends, Matlosane 45 embarked on an exciting venture at the local Klerksdorp Rugby Club, where we set up a vibrant food stall during their rugby games. This initiative not only provided an opportunity for fellowship among our members but also allowed us to engage with the rugby community and create awareness about the Round Table brand.

Our primary objective was to foster camaraderie and strengthen our bonds as we worked together on this project. Simultaneously, we sought to introduce Round Table to the rugby environment, recognizing its potential as a source of future members who share our values and passion for community service. Additionally, we aimed to generate funds that could support our members' initiatives and contribute to our community outreach efforts.

The proceeds from our food sales proved to be invaluable in fulfilling our objectives. We allocated a

portion of the funds to assist those in need within our community. With R1500, we helped a lady who required financial support for her blood work invoice. Additionally, we contributed R2500 towards a local rugby player's dream of participating in CRAVENWEEK, helping him cover part of his tour fees. These acts of kindness exemplify our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals who require assistance.

During our time at the rugby club, we had the privilege of interacting with numerous young men who expressed curiosity about Round Table and our aims and objectives. We sincerely hope that these encounters have planted seeds of interest, ensuring a bright future for Round Table Matlosane 45 and its continued growth.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the tablers and their significant others who actively participated in making this project a resounding success. Their dedication, hard

work, and support were instrumental in creating a productive and fulfilling experience for everyone involved. As we reflect on our last weekend of food sales, we celebrate the fact that we managed to sell out all of our stock. The occasion brought us together in unity, fostering a strong sense of fellowship and teamwork. We have learned valuable lessons from this endeavor and look forward to building on this foundation, enhancing our efficiency in future projects, no matter the scale.

In conclusion, the food stall project at the local rugby club was a testament to our commitment to both community service and the growth of Round Table Matlosane 45. We are grateful for the support and enthusiasm shown by our members, and we remain dedicated to creating positive change within our community through continued initiatives and impactful projects.

experience as a guest to a pipeliner at Roundtable Matlosane 45.

Firstly, something about me, I am an owner of a brokerage focusing on short-term and crop insurance mostly in the Agriculture Market.

I am 32 years old, married to a wonderful wife and in January became the proud father of a beautiful baby boy. I enjoy a good braai, hunting, golf and expanding my network through social events.

I attended a social meeting in 2022 and I was intrigued with the whole concept of brotherhood and community. I did not really have the time to join at that stage and always regretted not getting more involved. I really enjoyed the experience.

I received a call to join a social meeting this year and the culture and energy at Matlosane 45 was just infectious. I immediately jumped on the opportunity to get involved. Being a person who works from home and not having a lot of colleagues this was the perfect way for me to socialize with likeminded individuals.

There is an extremely tight bond between the members, and they know how to have a good time while being productive.

Matlosane 45 truly represents the values of the roundtable. It is very inspiring to see young men giving up their time and effort to help others without expecting anything in return.

It is nice to enjoy a drink with people who are having a positive effect on the community rather than just moping around and complaining about the issues we all face. I have had a wonderful time attending the social and business meetings.

I had a lot of fun at the winter conference, which gave me a better understanding of what Roundtable was all about.

I was recently inducted as pipeliner, and I am excited to launch a project and to be involved in everything Matlosane 45 and Roundtable are involved with.

Watch this space because 45 is well and truly alive!

One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of new guests who expressed their interest in joining our organization. It was heartwarming to witness individuals recognizing the incredible opportunities and sense of fulfillment that Round Table offers. We warmly welcome them and look forward to their contributions to our shared mission.

Despite an unexpected downpour of rain in the midst of our festivities, our spirits remained undeterred. Members, along with their families and friends, embraced the weather with open arms and continued to revel in the evening’s offerings. The atmosphere was filled with infectious laughter, the aroma of delectable food, and the enchanting melodies of great music.

Road Side Soup by Matlosane 45

In a heartfelt effort to make a difference in our community, Matlosane 45 organized a roadside soup kitchen in the impoverished area of Dawkinsville. With compassion and a drive to alleviate hunger, we distributed approximately 40 liters of nourishing soup and 60 loaves of bread. It was a humbling experience to witness even the smallest children lining up eagerly, seeking warmth and sustenance from a simple cup of soup.

This outreach initiative served as a powerful reminder for all of us in the middle class. Often shielded from the daily struggles of the less fortunate, we can become disconnected from the urgent needs that exist in our society. It is crucial for us to step out of our comfort zones and actively engage with those facing financial hardships. Only then can we truly comprehend the profound impact we can have on their lives.

During our time in Dawkinsville, we were struck by the resilience and unwavering spirit of the individuals living in challenging circumstances. Despite their financial struggles, they embraced each moment with genuine joy and appreciation. It served as a poignant reminder that true happiness does not depend on material possessions but resides in the ability to find contentment amidst adversity.

This experience has deeply touched our hearts and reaffirmed the importance of empathy, compassion, and community engagement. It is our duty as individuals with the means and resources to extend a helping hand to those in need. By actively participating in initiatives such as the roadside soup kitchen, we not only provide physical nourishment but also show solidarity and support to our fellow community members.

We extend our gratitude to the

volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make this event a success. Their selflessness and commitment played a significant role in brightening the lives of the individuals we served.

As we reflect on this experience, we are inspired to continue our efforts in addressing the pressing needs of our community. We must strive to bridge the gap between the middle class and the less fortunate, fostering a society where everyone is seen, heard, and cared for.

Let us remain united in our pursuit of a more compassionate and inclusive society. Together, we can make a lasting impact and bring hope to those who need it most.

Canned goods, pasta, rice, cooking oil, and other non-perishable items were collected to ensure that individuals and families have access to nutritious meals.

By actively engaging the community and fostering empathy, Round Table No.1 transformed the supermarket into a hub of generosity and compassion. The initiative provided an opportunity for people from all walks of life to make a positive impact and support their neighbours in need.

This collaborative effort not only helped alleviate immediate hunger but also showcased the resilience and compassion of the local community. Round Table No.1 continues to inspire others to join their mission of making a positive difference, reinforcing the belief that together, we can create a stronger, more caring society.

Stutt 103 Bike Ride 2023

Stutterheim Round Table hosted their annual Funduro Bike Ride event. The Friday night entertainment was singer and songwriter Jo Black. The live performance was held in a tent at the Stutterheim Country Club. Jo Black was loved by the crowd with his inspirational rock songs and sharing his testament and impowering us all. Dylan, a DJ from East London, followed and played until late doing an excellent job keeping the party going. Our Table Ladies (legs) decided to help run the project. They sold food and ran a cocktail bar

Saturday morning started early. Registration followed by the riders briefing and then the actual bike ride. There was a total of 205 riders on the loop. A section of the loop catered for the more adventurous riders and was a bit more extreme.

The loop went through the beautiful Amathola mountain range here in Stutterheim. Having great weather for the weekend was welcomed and encouraged people to come and support the riders and our market. The market was also run by Table Ladies and local entrepreneurs came to sell their variety of items.

The Tablers had great fellowship for the weekend and we all worked together to serve the greater community in this fundraiser.

We would like to give a massive thank you to all our sponsors and the external help that we received in making this event a massive succe ss. We, as Tablers hope to see everyone again next year and hopefully we can grow this event bigger every year.

Importance of Raiding

Fellowship amongst young men, to better the lives of the less fortunate and to have an impact on our surroundings. Being part of table brings like-minded men to help one another to achieve these morals and values instilled in us by the very aims and objectives we stand by.

Raiding allows us to understand different approaches to practicing these objectives. The border area is held together by 12 fantastic tables each with different perspectives but as one with a common goal.

Queenstown Round Table number 16 joined Gonubie 182 Round Table for their annual hosting of members from the Round Table Border Area. Great discussions on charity events and ways to better their community were had. With raids being done, it allows us to take ideas back to our table and make a difference.

Mthatha no.4 Golf Day

Round Table Mthatha No.4 hosted our first of many annual Golf Day on Wednesday 5th of July and we are so happy to report that it was a great success and loads of fun. Our Golf Day was in conjunction with our blanket drive and also had our steak evening afterwards and the turnout was exceptional.

At registration there was some coffee and tea for those that needed a warmer start and the vibe was just awesome to see as the players

started to get ready at the end, we had 7 four balls and it was time to start the fun.

We had huge support from lots of our local companies that donated by sponsoring T-Boxes and a lot of companies that supported us trough sponsoring prizes for our event and half way lunches.

To make the event even more fun we had our fines master on the course with a 4-wheeler the whole day just

in case a bad shot was spotted or some warming up was needed

After all the fun on the golf course we had our prize giving and an auction to further our income and had once again support from our community

We firmly believe that this was the ground work for an even bigger event in the future just because of the excitement from the companies and the community with this event

Kirkwood 78 @ Bosveld ARTSA 2023

On the weekend of the 27th of April 2023, it was Bosveld ARTSA 2023, and it proved to be a very good ARTSA for out EP Area tables.

Three of Kirkwood 78’s members made the trip to the Bosveld to attend ARTSA and represent not only our table but also our Area, thank you Daneel Meiring, Francois Calitz and AM Swart for that.

The weekend was of course filled with great laughs and fellowship, meeting new people that becomes friends and seeing old friends from across the country as well.

But the weekend also saw our National President head up the Annual national meeting where very important information was received, matters discussed and voted for, all

this to better Round Table Southern Africa.

There was also an award ceremony on the night of the meeting and EP Area received the following awards:

1. RTSA Tabler of the year - Jacques van Wyk (Alex/Kenton 210)

2. RTSA Magazine of the yearTrunk Tales (this is our 4 quarterly magazine for our area)

3. Two Impactful Change awards given to Jacques van Wyk and Pienaar Allers (PE West 142) for their exceptional work and sacrifice they make for table

Both these two gentlemen will take their seat on the National executive committee for the 2023/2024 term as Branding Manager and Inkundla Editor respectfully. We as an Area

are very proud of them!

We would Also like to welcome our new Area Chairman Nico Schneider (Adelaide 194) and wish him all the best for his term and say goodbye and thank you toe Pienaar “Die Balju” Allers our outgoing Area Chairman.

Lastly but surely not the least, Round Table Southern Africa raised R25 000 000. In the 2022/2023 season, that is something that we could not have done without the support of our communities and sponsors and without you we cannot make an impactful change. Thank you, South Africa.

Blood drive - Pint for a Pint

On Friday the 2nd of June 2023, we held our first Pint for a Pint Blood Drive of the year.

Together with the SANBS and the support of our community we were able to donate 42 pints of blood on the day.

We would like to thank all of you who donated and those of you who spread the word about the event. Each pint of blood could save up to 3 lives!! Thank you, Kirkwood, without you we would not have been able to make such and big contribution.

Keep an eye out for our second Pint for a Pint towards the end of the year.

Winter Knights 2023 @ Kirkwood 78

On the 25th of May, we held our Winter Knights project at the Kirkwood Golf Club, it was a great success and was well attended by the community as well. We had nice braai packs on sale too, that could be taken home to enjoy, or you could braai them at the club as demonstrated very nicely by our Chairman Daneel “shades” Meiring.

Our aim with Winter Knights is to collect warm clothes, blankets and nonperishable foods and then donate it to people in need of that. We would be unable to do so if it was

not for our great community that supports us as well as our sponsors for the event.

After going through and sorting all the donations that we received, we as Kirkwood 78 delivered our Winter Knights donations to the Whitlock Care Centre in Jansenville

It was a heartwarming experience for all that were involved. To see the look of joy and appreciation on the kind faces of the recipients is something that won’t be forgotten and makes it worth the effort.

We would like to thank everyone that was involved in this project, and everyone in our community that donated either clothes/blankets/ food or shoes. Also thank you to those who spread the word of this event, without that awareness that was created we would not have been able to make this impactful change in the lives of the people at Whitlock Care Centre.

Yours in Table, Estiaan

George 30 Open House

Open house has long been a treasured Round Table tradition that allows for Tablers and their families to get together and experience the social side of Table.

This month, George 30 Secretary, Stefan Du Plessis, hosted his open house, with a twist at the George clubhouse.

Lots of fun was had by all, given the added fun games we got to play throughout the day.

The next open house was also handed over (coveted kettle) by Stefan to Niel Enslin.

Great fun, looking forward to this tradition, long may it last.

feel-good project

Winter Knights have personally always been an awesome feel-good project to me. It is a good opportunity to reflect on what is important and remember that the pressure we often feel is unnecessary pressure we place on ourselves. Most of the time we don’t need the things we feel pressured to achieve.

This year was again inspirational to us. We have collected clothing from friends, family and even had some corporate sponsors on board this year. Initially, we were going to distribute all our donations locally and also budgeted to purchase some blankets from our charity reserves.

Unexpectedly the heavens opened in the Western Cape and we felt

compelled to reach beyond our area with our donations received locally. The viewpoint is that it does not matter where it goes, as long as it fills a need it should be bound geographically.

On a cold Saturday evening, we hit the streets of PE and donated approximately 30 blankets to the less fortunate. The gratitude from these recipients is beyond what anyone can imagine it to be. And to think it is only an R60 blanket. We spend R60 on a drink at times and to these people, it changes whether they sleep warmer tonight than the previous night. It makes one wonder why we as an association at times struggle to raise funds. Have societies become too consumed

by their worlds to care about the person next to them, or should we change our message and reevaluate how we communicate our message and appeal for donations?

We are in the process of packing and boxing the donated clothing and will ship same to Paarl 44 in the next few days for them to distribute in their community.

Thank you to our community for their donations and we look forward to growing the event again next year.

Yours in Table,

WINTER KNIGHTS PE WEST 142

The Ghost of Owen Frye 3.0

Everything started in 2021 during the pandemic. Travelling was not easy; however, being in South Africa during ARTSA is my priority. As many of you know, this is a fixed AGM in my calendar and this already for the ninth time. So Graham Cornelissen and myself started touring through the country before ARTSA and meeting many tablers and ladies throughout the country: In the Ghost of Owen Frye.

Finally, the world functions as before, so it was easy to go to South Africa again. Everything started by contacting my dear friend Graham Cornelissen. People know him as the convenor of the Ghost Tour and for some other portfolio he holds.

This year I did not spend my usual five to six weeks in South Africa as the World Meeting will happen there in September. So I decided to stay three weeks including ARTSA. Graham and myself made a rough plan and checked where we can go this time.

I landed after the Easter season on 14th April in Johannesburg. I already made a major mistake by telling him I missed Brandy and Coke, so we stopped already with great fellowship and some brandies with many friends in the Gauteng Area. Markets, sightseeing, and meeting with old friends were on the program. I was glad to meet the deputy head of mission from the

Austrian embassy as I am currently installing an artist in residence program in Austria. We are collaborating with the August House in Johannesburg which we were able to visit. Jukskei 217 took good care of me, and I was honoured to be the sergeant at arms during their meeting. This time I tried to behave and not destroy them already at the beginning. We also tried some sport shooting with our friend Ninja Ernest Lamprecht, and I was surprised how good I could aim. During this time, I also took my new drone with me, and we tried to make some amazing footage of Hartbeespoort and some nearby areas.

The Ghost of Owen Frye 3.0

Time has come, and we started a domestic flight to Cape Town. We actually did some proper work for the RTIWM 2023 and checked some new locations and talked to some suppliers. After our official part, our mission was clear: Wine Tasting. So we took it very seriously and tried discovering many new wine farms and checking some for the upcoming pre-tour. This time we stayed directly in Stellenbosch and discovered the local nightlife. The Co-Convenor for the RTIWM, Skaap,

invited us over to his house. There I had the possibility to prepare a Guinness stew. As a tradition in South Africa, this was done over an open fire with wood.

One highlight during the Western Cape Leg was going to one of the pre-tour locations: The Aquila Game Reserve. For everyone who is going on this tour: Congratulations! It was one of the best game drives I have done in South Africa. You will have the chance to see the Big Five and

many more animals. The area is very protected, so I would recommend you not post the location when you are there to protect the game on the farm.

This time in South Africa, I discovered the beauty of load shedding. You will not have up to eight hours of no electricity per day. You need to plan your day ahead if you want to cook, set your washings, or charge your devices. But this is, unfortunately, a reality all over the country.

The Ghost of Owen Frye 3.0

Time has come, and we flew back to Johannesburg. After a Mexican night, we drove to this year's ARTSA location: Bushveld. What an opening night it has been. A perfect DJ, with great performances and awesome people. It feels like being home, simultaneously seeing so many old and new friends.

The forums were really interesting as there was motion in RTSA to raise the age up to 45. This motion did not pass during the meeting but led to great discussions. We also had the possibility to meet with the AMI team and discuss certain expansion projects within the region. One of the nicest evenings is, for sure, the area night. Every area is preparing a table with regional delicacies. Congratulations again to Werner and his team as outgoing president and a wonderful year ahead to Louis! For over 22 years, Round Table Austria and the Natal North Coast of South Africa have had the oldest

existing twinning agreement, which is renewed during the ARTSA Gala and the Austrian AGM. Very thankful for this great privilege!

The AGM passed, and as nearly every year, a road trip started. This time from Bushveld to Richards Bay. Thanks to Kevin and Ashley for the great experience! We had a lovely social at the waterfront and made a braai. We had lovely evenings with Boela, Tanya, and many more during these days. I had the joy of discovering golfing for the first time in my life. Luckily we only lost two bags of balls, and the loan was not destroyed that much. It was great spending time with Harm, driving to Eshowe, and visiting Ash and his lovely family.

The last leg was flying back to Johannesburg and sorting my luggage and getting ready for my flight home.

Spending a couple of weeks in a different country is always an experience. It is even better if you are sharing this time with Tablers who became very close friends in the last few years. Going to South Africa is not like going somewhere on vacation; it is like going to your second home.

A huge thanks to Graham as the tour convenor! It was a pleasure, a unique experience, and something I will never forget. The Ghost of Owen Frye Tour is an exclusive tour with one sweat drop and five brandy drops.

Round Table gives us all so many great possibilities. A club founding member told me once: The Round Table Badge is the passport to the world – travel it well.

I promise you: I'll be back!

Yours in international tabling, Marc

Everything big needs to start small !

The “Kos Kas” project, which I proudly run for Matlosane 45, has been a profound journey of compassion and support for those in need within our community. It all began with a realization that charity extends beyond monetary contributions; it encompasses providing basic life necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. This epiphany struck me during my early days as a member of Matlosane 45, when I encountered individuals who were lacking even the most essential need: food.

While there are several churches and organizations dedicated to distributing food, the demand still outweighs the supply in our community. Recognizing this pressing need, I embarked on my own initiative to feed those who go without this basic necessity. Thanks to an anonymous donation of dry food, I had enough resources to start creating food parcels designed to sustain a family for an entire month.

Since the inception of the project six months ago, I have been able to provide food to seven different families, totaling 30 individuals, each month. Witnessing the impact this simple act of kindness has had on the lives of those in need has been incredibly humbling and gratifying. It has reinforced the understanding that even small gestures can make a significant difference in someone’s life.

The "Kos Kas" project exemplifies the power of community-driven initiatives and demonstrates that we all have the capacity to make a positive impact, regardless of our circumstances. It is a testament to the fact that giving back goes beyond financial contributions; it involves recognizing the inherent value of every individual and acknowledging their fundamental right to access the most basic resources.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to run this project through Matlosane 45 and extend

my heartfelt appreciation to the anonymous donor who kickstarted our efforts. I am also indebted to the support of the organization and its members, whose collective dedication and commitment have been invaluable.

As I continue on this journey, my aim is to expand the reach of the “Kos Kas” project, ensuring that more families and individuals in need receive the sustenance they require. Together, we can make a difference and build a more compassionate community where everyone has access to the basic necessities of life.

I would really like to push this project to all the STNOFS tables to start their own “Kos Kas” and make it a annual thing, like the winter Knights projects.
