INKUNDLA

Honour & Privileged

Fellow Tablers and friends,
I greet you from a very windy, rather cold Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Time flies when you are having fun, more than a month have passed since we had fun at ARTSA 2023! The first edition of the Inkundla Magazine is now also a month old, I thank you all for the great responses and compliments.
Here within, with great honour, I present you with the 2nd edition of the Inkundla magazine for the year 2023/24. We as members of Round Table Southern Africa are privileged and can be proud of the upcoming World Meeting to be held in our very own backyard. In the beautiful, world renown City of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. The second edition is therefore a special World Meeting edition with 10-page coverage of the much spoken about event. Thank you to Graham Cornelissen, World Meeting Convenor, for the content and the great work he and his team is doing, this is going to be EPIC!
In addition to the above, it is great to see the enthusiasm from the areas around public relations and promoting the Rondel! Social media is buzzing and is great to see the teamwork amongst the various public relations officers and the new innovative ideas used! Well done to Jacques van Wyk, National Branding Manager, driving this from the top and leading from the front. Keep up the good work!
I continue to encourage you to think out the box with new innovative ideas around articles, lets teach each and the younger generation about Round Table by sharing our experiences and knowledge. Ultimately becoming better young men in our societies and driving impactful change.
Lastly, we need to improve on sharing our Inkundla Magazine and I request that each tabler take personal responsibility to share on social media and also through other communication channels to friends, sponsors and beneficiaries etc.
Enjoy reading!

I was privileged to attend the RT Netherlands and RT Germany AGM’s the last 2 weekends. Congratulations to both Associations for their respective achievements in the past term.
4 RTSA tablers attended the Netherlands AGM in Wageningen and 7 tablers the German AGM in Dortmund.
The purpose was to build on international relationships and promote the World Meeting to be hosted in Cape Town on 6-10 September 2023.
The World Meeting will be the biggest WM ever hosted outside of Europe and approximately 50% bigger than the previous record held by Sri Lanka for the WM in 2018. Some spots are left and all are encouraged to register while places are still available.
I look forward to visiting 3 areas in the coming month as the Winter Conference season starts. YiT
By this time, everyone in RTSA knows about the World Meeting being hosted by us later this year. But what does this exactly mean for us, and what exactly is the World Meeting?
Think of the World Meeting along the same lines as a massive ARTSA, with many more international guests in attendance. We have more than 800 registration from 45 associations registered, making this the biggest World Meeting outside of Europe ever. Anticipation is building internationally to come to South Africa, and it would be great to have many local Tablers present.

Getting the most out of your time in Cape Town is vital. Joining one of these great day tours lets you live the good life.
Experience some of the best wines and scenery South Africa offers on this visit to the Constantia wine valley. Visit Klein Constantia, where several wines will be tested. The highlight of the tasting here is the Vin de Constance and the Grande Constance, famous for being Napoleon's favourite wine. A visit to a second wine farm before lunch is a great way to start any day. Lunch is served on one of the wine farms before leaving for the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to explore local fauna and walk on the Tree Canopy Walkway.
With so many golf courses in Cape Town to be played, there will be a different course every day on offer with no repeats from the golfing pre-tour. Depending on the course, the bus will depart between 08h00 and 09h00 for a tee-off at around 10h00. Before we finish the back nine, drinks and lunch are served at the clubhouse. A fines session will close out the day at the 19th hole before everyone returns to the hotel. Bring your own clubs, as rental options are available but limited.
The bus departs the hotel and drives to one of three different walking routes. The hike up Table Mountain takes 90 minutes to 2,5 hours and ends at the top of the mountain. At the start of the hike, water and energy drinks will see you through to lunchtime on top of Table Mountain. After taking the cable car down, explore the Bo-Kaap. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and loves excellent photography. Stop for a cocktail-making experience before returning to the hotels ready for the evening programme.
Departing from all major launching sites in and around Cape Town at sunrise, the trips usually last around 5 – 6 hours. We will venture within 5 miles offshore, where fishing is much quicker and more action is guaranteed. Seasonal catches can include the prized Yellow Tail, Atlantic Bonito and Snoek. We plan to target various reef fish, including the sought-after Red Roman, Bronze Beam, and Panga.

A visit to The Gin Emporium to experience follows before the busses depart back to the hotels at 15h30.
This is the arrival day for anyone not on a pre-tour will be met at the airport before being transported to the hotels. We expect this to be a hectic day at the airport and the registration desk. After registration, everyone has some free time to meet up with old friends for the first time or to continue the bonds of friendship already formed. We will ensure the bar is fully stocked for everyone, with beers flowing all day. The opening night is a short distance from the Green Point Cricket Club hotels. It will be an outdoor festival with a traditional spit braai. We will have great live music (more to follow soon), flowing beers and a great venue open this World Meeting.
The Councillors Meeting starts early morning. This is a great place to see all motions being debated and some of the internal workings of Round Table ib a global scale. After lunch, all participants at the councillor's meeting will hike up Table Mountain for a great pic and a few drinks. We will have the Nations Night in the oldest building in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope. We will introduce the world to six different traditional potjies while sharing and exchanging culture, snacks and drinks. This is a highlight for most at a World Meeting and an evening that is hard to forget. Why not try and make a full loop of all the nations and their offerings?
The AGM will be a significant affair, with all the flair associated with it. Afterwards, the banner and gift exchange takes place at the AGM venue. Non-attendees can partake in the planned day tours or venture out independently. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants to get lost in. We will leave for the clubhouse parties late afternoon for what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We will have a traditional braai, taste the famous brandy and coke, watch the rugby (France vs New Zealand in the opening RWC game) and form friendships to last a lifetime. This will be a hard night for many, but it will be one for the ages. Yes, there is a prize for the Table that 'kuier' the hardest.
The regional meetings will be split between the local Round Table clubhouses and the hotel pool for one of the SEM region. In addition to the day tours, we will have dedicated shuttles running to a neighbourhood's market and the V&A Waterfront. You will have free time in the afternoon to enjoy while you prepare for the gala dinner. Always the highlight of a World Meeting, the Gala Dinner will promise to be one to remember. Join us for the pre-drinks at 18h00 at the CTICC before closing out this Tabling year in the best way possible.
With the official programme ending, we all share a last breakfast before departing home. Remember to stop at the registration desk to collect your going away gift.
Our second early bird period runs from the 1st of May to the 30th of June. From the 1st of July onwards, an additional 10% increase will be added to all registration costs. This shows that securing your spot at the World Meeting as soon as possible is wise.
We have made registering easy and created many options for joining the World Meeting. We have registration packages, including and excluding accommodation. We also have registration options available for specific days only. You can build your own World Meeting experience to your exact wishes.
What is included in the price?
We realise that joining the World Meeting is expensive with the current exchange rate. With a prohibition against offering local Tabler's discounts, we are limited in what we can do on a pricing front.
Another common question is "What is included in the registration?". Your registration includes:
• Collection and return at the Cape Town International Airport during the RTI World Meeting;
• All transport during the RTI World Meeting to and from events and meetings;
• Accommodation at a 4-star minimum hotel, including breakfast for the nights as registered (if registered with accommodation);
• Lunch and dinner daily, with meal preferences to be catered for as registered;
• Access to all meetings and events as per the RTI World meeting schedule;
• Goodie bag worth R 3,000 when registering for the entire event; and
• Drinks are subject to reasonable limits.
Remember that this is a 5-day, 4-night event, and it is fully inclusive, with you having to spend very little, if any, of your own money.
Many more surprises are being planned; without knowing the full number of registrations, it is impossible to know and list everything we have planned. It is essential to know that the goal is not
Why not get your hands dirty and become part of the team? We are looking for hands to help us during the event. We have several roles that we need help with during the World Meeting. Should you be interested in helping out, please contact us at convenor@rtiwm.org. Attached in this mass mailer and the mass mailer in May, we sent out the Manpower requirements document. We still have some jobs available to help subsidise your event.
At the Nations night on the 7th of September, we will make 6 different potjies. We have invited areas to be involved and will sponsor 2 tickets per area to help us make the Nations Night a great success. This evening is an unmissable highlight of any major RTI event, and with your help, it will be the best ever. Get in touch with your area Chairman, who has the details on how you can get involved.
Lastly, for those who has connections and those who know the right people. We are looking for sponsorships for items relating to the World Meeting. This can range from transport to goodies, gifts, or wine. We are incentivising anyone who comes with a sponsorship that we use with a rebate for the event. We will offer 25% of the value of the sponsored item we use as a credit at the event, so getting your tickets fully paid for is possible!!!

I’m excited to announce that I am running for the position of Western Province Area Vice Chairman for the 2024/25 term. Over the past four years, I have been an active member of the organization and currently serve as the Chairman of Cape Town 9 and Western Province Area Secretary. I am engaged to Cherie Archer and grew up in the Southern Cape. I am also proud to say I attended the best High school in the country, Grey High School.
As you know, membership is crucial to the success of our organization, and I am passionate about maintaining and growing our membership base. I have a six-pronged approach to membership extension which I look forward to expanding on in the up-and-coming months.
I may not have the physique of Jason Momoa or the charm of George Clooney, but I have something even more valuable, a genuine love for our organization and a deep desire to see it thrive. I believe that my passion, combined with my experience as a member and Table Chairman, makes me an excellent candidate for this position.
I am excited about the opportunity to work with all of you to build on the success of our organization. Let’s grow our membership and continue to make a positive impact in our communities. Remember, the more members we have, the more we can accomplish!

Daniel Martin of Hilton 242 was in Gauteng for a few days and decided to meet up with a few Golden East 181 members for a social evening. Fruitful discussions were had, and cold beers enjoyed.
The team at East London 1 themed their monthly Bingo evening at Stirling Lodge to celebrate Mother’s Day. The Bingo evenings, which takes place once a month, always prove to be a delightful experience for both the elderly residents and the Tablers and their families.
As the residents gathered around the tables, a sense of anticipation filled the air. The Tablers distributed bingo cards, and the games began. Laughter, cheers, and occasional cries of "bingo!" echoed through the hall as the numbers were called out. The spirited competition fostered a lively atmosphere, and the participants, young and old alike, revelled in the friendly rivalry. Plenty of treats and prizes were handed out and the delicious cupcakes & cards that each participant was treated to was received with immense
gratitude. So many of Stirling Lodge’s residents do not have family locally and it was an honour to celebrate with all the moms and grannies.
The presence of the Tablers families and kids added an extra layer of enthusiasm to the event. They engaged the residents in conversation, listened to their stories, and shared their own experiences. It was evident that the Tablers genuine interest and empathy created a sense of connection that transcended age.
We love giving back. We wanted to make a difference, and seeing the smiles on the residents' faces made it all worthwhile. We hope that this event inspires others to bridge the generation gap and spread happiness in their communities.
The success of the bingo night at Stirling Lodge serves as a testament to the power of intergenerational connection and the impact that small gestures can have on both young and old alike. The initiative taken by these young men not only brought joy and excitement to the residents but to all who attended and partook.
In a world that often focuses on the differences between generations, this heart-warming event reminds us of the shared humanity that unites us all. It goes to show that compassion and understanding can create bridges between generations, fostering a stronger and more inclusive community for everyone.
By Jethro PennyIn a heart-warming gesture of support for search and rescue operations, a remarkable canine hero named Niko has been outfitted with a state-of-the-art bulletproof vest, thanks to a generous donation by East London No.1. This invaluable gift not only enhances Niko's safety while on duty but also recognizes the vital role that search and rescue dogs play in saving lives.
Recognizing the importance of protecting these invaluable fourlegged heroes, East London No1 spearheaded a campaign to provide bulletproof vests to search and rescue dogs in the region.
The bulletproof vest, specially tailored for Niko's size and comfort, is designed to provide protection against potential threats during search and rescue operations. Constructed with high-quality materials, the vest offers an additional layer of defense against sharp objects and firearms, safeguarding Niko from harm and allowing him to carry out his duties with enhanced security.
Search and rescue teams, along with Niko's handler, expressed their gratitude for the donation, recognizing the significance of this added layer of protection. Warrant Officer Fred Dicks, Niko's handler, emphasized the importance of keeping these remarkable animals safe. "Niko is more than just a working dog; he's a member of our team and our family. This generous donation ensures that we can continue our lifesaving work while prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of our furry companions."
remarkable animals.
Niko, the recipient of this thoughtful gift, has been training rigorously to adjust to his new equipment. His excitement and enthusiasm are palpable, as if he understands the significance of the vest and its potential to save lives—both his own and those he helps rescue.
Niko, a highly skilled and dedicated search and rescue dog, has been an integral part of his team for several years. Trained to locate missing persons and navigate challenging terrain, he has been instrumental in numerous successful operations, bringing comfort and relief to families in distress.
The bulletproof vest not only serves as a symbol of gratitude but also highlights the unwavering commitment of those who support search and rescue operations. It reflects the recognition that these brave canines are often exposed to dangerous situations while aiding in life-saving missions. Such gestures go a long way in demonstrating the community's appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of these
This act of support further strengthens the bond between humans and animals, and it encourages the continued efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of these extraordinary search and rescue dogs like Niko, who are always ready to answer the call of duty.
By Jethro PennyWe were fortunate enough to be a part of an inter-area project. Janice Elizabeth Benn from Open Arms Home for Children in Komga, walked from Port Elizabeth in Eastern Province all the way to Komga in the Eastern Cape. More than 400km by foot. She did this to raise awareness and funds for the home.
The EP tablers helped her all the way up to Port Alfred and then the border tablers took over and assisted the rest of the way. It was great to see how well the areas worked together. Im really excited to do more projects together with our brothers from EP.
Janice arrived after her 7 day journey much to the joy of the kids in the home. It was humbling to see first hand the joy and love they have for Janice. To spite the rain the kids were not deterred from dancing and singing as they welcomed her home. We will stay in touch with Janice and assist wherever possible.
Thanks to the boys from EP it was great working together and I look forward to the next one.
By Jethro PennyThis year we decided to do things a little different from previous years so we decided that our annual boys only fishing trip will include the ladies. Therefore, the trip commenced later than planned on the morning of 26 February as the 142 crew dragging their wives from the bed to the harbour. This year we decided to head out with a new captain, Mr Koekemoer and his awesome boat, Calypso.
Racing out the harbour we headed to the wildside and before you can say drag the lines were in the water with great anticipation ready to catch the big ones. The captain became wary that we were the only charters on that side of the bay and carted us to the sheds on the other side of the bay.
With not much time left for fishing we had to make it count. JP Zet du Plessis managed to pull in a massive Yellow Bellow Rock Cod which was the beast of the day and the rest of us licking our wounds with some not-too-shabby pan sizes. Much to our surprise no one was hanging overboard from seasickness and the ladies loved the trip.
Thank you to all the tablers and legs who made the trip an awesome one as we look forward to the next big social.
Yours in table, Cornel Strydom – PE West 142
A great night was had at the Estcourt Golf Club with over 46 players on the course for the night. More than R16000.00 was raised from this event through players, games and auctions that followed. A massive thank you to Ladies Circle Estcourt for helping on the night!
Dear fellow Tablers, I was given the great honour to do the reply on behalf of the 41ers, at first you think this is a piece of cake, but when you sit and think of all your years in table and what you as a person achieved, the reality hits you, this is the end, this is goodbye.
I’m a Proud past Algoa 108 member, and I will continue to support them where needed, I’m fortunate enough today to be able to account to you the Absolute Impactfulchange that round table has had on me and all past members alike.
I am humbled by the realization of how small we actually are in the bigger picture of things. How truly honoured we were to have been placed in this position, to have received the Rondel from the giants before us, to have been able to wear it with pride on our chest and now to be able to pass it on to the next generation of tablers.
I must admit, i’m jealous of those staying behind, because today for the first time the words Adopt, Adapt and Improve Hurts!!, I realize that I’m the end product of those words, the organisation that taught me and so many other gentlemen to be a better person, not just in table but also in our family, and in our communities.
As a past tabler we stand here today as complete as round table would have wanted us to be, we can only hope that we applied our organisation motto with some degree of success towards our fellow table brothers, our communities, our home, our family and ourselves as individual’s.
Forgetting Round table would be absolutely impossible, joining for community service and end up staying for fellowship has never been truer, never forget your brothers that stood side by side doing handouts with the local community. In my mind, our limited years together we have seen more, lived more, been more and served more than most other men would have in their lifetime.
No number of words would ever be enough to describe the level of appreciation that we have for this organisation, thank you to each and every person that played a part in our table journey, it’s not the end of our path together, just a slightly quieter one going forward, but we will always be there to assist where we can.
We would like to thank our beautiful families for enjoying this journey with us, you are amazing, and we loved you very much.
We Thank you Round Table

Recently 2 of our members, Daniel Martin and Lloyd Millington, went to the annual RT24 Euro meeting hosted this year by Goes, in the Netherlands. The gents went 2 days earlier to experience the sites, scenes and beer of Amsterdam before heading through to Goes for the meeting. An amazing time was had experiencing the country for the first time and making new awesome friends along the way. A very productive business meeting was had where the Hilton242 gents promoted their 2025 Afritour, which everyone is very excited for. This was followed by an exciting and eventful cabaret evening and a magnificent gala dinner.
After Goes the guys headed up to Coevorden to meet up with some of the 41ers and tablers from RT Coevorden 142 before heading back home. An amazing time was had and even better friends were made! We look forward to having our brothers from Europe head to South Africa in 2025, but before then, we’ll see you at Euro meeting 2024 in Rotherham, UK.

Saturday the 20th of May saw many men brave the chilly conditions and met for Drak Area Chairman, Kevin McNamara's, 1st CVC meeting, held at Estcourt74's club house. With 23 attendees, it was well supported and fresh ideas were passed around the table for the up-coming year while the sergeant, Lloyd Millington, keep proceedings in check with a rather interesting, delectable snack.
The meeting ran smoothly and Kevin was pleased with what was planned for the year ahead, reiterating that Fellowship was his main drive to keep Drak Area strong and to continue building from there. After the meeting the gees flowed around the braai aided by a few beverages, catching up on what has been happening throughout the area and reconnecting with
friends. As always, fellowship was strong, with everyone leaving in high spirits, motivated to make this year….Legendary!
A huge thanks to Estcourt74 and it’s members, for being great hosts inside and out of the club house!
By Charles KirtonLike all things in life, travel is something that all should experience, At least this is what I’ve been told growing up. Being part of this Organisation only makes those chances that much more closer and realistic.
I was the lucky awardee of the RTSA travel bingo draw held back in 2022 at BMG Weesgerus. When
I learnt where we had a Twinning agreement with, first thoughts was how am I going to do this.
As the time drew closer, our outgoing ARTSA IRO assisted in helping make contact and get the communication going.
Mr Timo from Dubai 1 was amazing in all he assisted, leading up to the time for me to depart South Africa on my 1st international experience. I’m by nature a very calculating person, nothing left unknown, but I choose to live slightly different and didn’t google or research unless I had to, so I went in with no expectations but to take it all in, a proper tourist. I landed finally in Dubai at the international airport and already was taken back at the scale and size. Never had I experienced the magnitude of buildings to which this experience would just expand further the more I ventured.
I met up with Mr Timo at the hotel to book in and enjoyed an afternoon around the palm islands. A meet and greet was arranged on the top floor of an adjacent hotel where members from Dubai 1, Doha 4, Kuwait 5, Dubai Creek 11 and past 41er’s joined for a dinner with a view.
Saturday saw the annual meeting
being held with around +-25 people in attendance, past chairman, presidents, 41ers and Ladies circle member in attendance. This was said to have been one of the best attended meetings in a long time and I’m happy to have been there to witness it. We table slightly different in ARTSA and to seeing the difference’s gives such a unique feeling of expectations and potential. At the end of the day, we want what’s best for ourselves and one another.
Mr Timo and the other RT brothers showed me to their version of the HARDCORE HUT through multiple venues, where I witnessed Whitney Houston voice double who could sing better than she ever could and that I hope any others traveling to RTAG & Dubai would experience this GEM.
My stay was short and sweet but I did as much as I could in the time given and would like to express my gratitude to all involved, extensions & RTI, RTAG, ARTSA for the opportunity.

By Ryan MeyerIntroduction:
As a Tabler of the Round Table, my recent journey to Zimbabwe was nothing short of extraordinary. Accompanied by my wife, who had never flown or left the country before, the excitement of embarking on this adventure was amplified by the fact that it was a table adventure. The purpose of our visit was to connect with Round Table Zimbabwe and experience their hospitality firsthand, as our twinning table, "The Seychelles," was unable to join us for the annual event. Little did I know that this trip would leave an indelible mark on our hearts, forging bonds of friendship and creating cherished memories.
Setting off before dawn, we embarked on our journey to the airport. Crossing the border, we arrived in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, where we were warmly welcomed by a cab driver. Without wasting a moment, we hopped into the backseat, filled with anticipation for
the adventure that awaited us. The drive from the airport to Victoria Falls was mesmerizing, with a straight road flanked by twisted trees, serving as a testament to the abundant wildlife that roams freely. Warthogs, baboons, and elephants casually strolled about as if humans were mere spectators. Finally, we reached the quaint town of Victoria Falls and made our way to the magnificent Insika Lodge, our abode for the duration of our stay.
The moment we set foot in Insika Lodge, we were captivated by its enchanting beauty. An infinity pool adorned the premises, complemented by a bar and a live animal feeding zone a mere five meters away. Here, one could cool off while witnessing the fascinating interactions between local wildlife. The lodge's allure was further accentuated by the presence of more twisted trees, evoking a sense of harmony between nature
and hospitality. As we settled in, I engaged in conversations with fellow tablers from Bulawayo, relishing in the camaraderie that quickly enveloped us all.
In the scorching heat of the 33-degree Celsius afternoon, we gathered our drinks and embarked on a slow sunset cruise along the Zambezi River. On one side, Zimbabwe stretched before us, while Zambia beckoned on the other, connected only by a bridge. As we sailed, conversations flowed freely, and I was filled with curiosity, eager to learn from my newfound friends. The cruise, accompanied by a delectable buffet meal, created the perfect ambiance for deep discussions and genuine connections. With contented hearts, we returned to the lodge, savouring the remaining hours of the night in pleasant conversation before retiring for the day, knowing that the next day held even greater adventures.
Saturday morning arrived, and I felt invigorated, as if the spirit of my youthful self had been rekindled. Descending to 630 meters above sea level from our previous altitude of 1200 meters, I found a renewed energy coursing through my veins. After a delightful breakfast, we donned our suits and returned to the Jetty for the Round Table Zimbabwe AGM. I was in awe of the efficiency and punctuality displayed during the meeting,
a novel experience for me. The association's objectives, diligently served, fascinated me. The Arthur Trophy, a symbol of Round Table Zimbabwe, represented the epitome of table camaraderie, held high by a fully armored knight. Learning that the association thrived despite past challenges, with six clubs boasting an average age of only 33, filled me with admiration and hope for the future of Round Table.
The Most Amazing Victoria Falls Race:
Following the AGM, an extraordinary adventure awaited us—a race like no other. Divided into two teams, blue and red, with each team having a wife or partner, we embarked on a series of exhilarating challenges. From tossing bean bags into tiny holes to building towers and performing daring jumps, we raced against time and each other. The Bomba bus, our mode of transportation, added an element of excitement and quirkiness to the race. We pushed its limits, encountering roadblocks and facing dilemmas that required quick thinking and team spirit. Throughout the race, the camaraderie between tablers and their partners shone brilliantly, turning a competitive event into a bond-strengthening experience.
Exploring Victoria Falls and Farewell:
As the race concluded, we found ourselves neck and neck with the blue team, both determined to claim victory. We hurriedly visited various landmarks, bought items on a quirky shopping list, and finally arrived at the old age home, handing over our donations. Although
we had initially forgotten about three monkeys, causing a slight detour, we eventually captured the moment with a photo. Our final destination was the Boat Club, where we celebrated the end of the race with a round of shooters and shared stories of our unforgettable exploits. Here, amidst laughter and camaraderie, new buffalo members were inducted, and a sense of unity enveloped us all.
On Sunday morning, the time to depart arrived. Reluctantly bidding farewell to our newfound family, we received banners, pins, and coins, symbolic of the bonds formed and the memories created. Gratitude overwhelmed us as we reflected on the exceptional hospitality and genuine warmth bestowed upon us by Round Table Zimbabwe. Their kindness made us feel like honored guests in their country, leaving an everlasting impression on our hearts.
The journey to Round Table Zimbabwe was a testament to the unifying power of the Round Table movement. As a Tabler, I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to connect with such an incredible association and its members. The adventure was not only about the memories made but also the shared heritage and values that bind us together. We eagerly anticipate hosting Round Table Zimbabwe at future events and continuing to strengthen the bond between our tables. This extraordinary experience will forever be cherished, serving as a reminder of the enduring spirit of camaraderie that lies at the heart of the Round Table movement.

To the tablers who welcomed us with open arms and genuine camaraderie, I express my heartfelt appreciation. Your warm smiles, enthusiastic spirit, and

A special word of gratitude goes out to the incredible partners who joined us on this adventure. Your unwavering support, unwavering determination, and unwavering enthusiasm were invaluable in making this event a resounding success. Your presence added an extra dimension of joy and camaraderie, reminding us that Round Table is not just about the tablers but about the collective strength of our families.
I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the meticulous planning and flawless execution of every detail. From the seamless coordination of the race challenges to the thoughtfulness of the locations we visited, every aspect was meticulously arranged. Your dedication and attention to detail ensured that we had a smooth and exhilarating experience throughout.
The beauty of Victoria Falls provided the perfect backdrop for this
adventure, but it was your genuine warmth, generosity, and sense of community that truly made this event exceptional. Through this race, we not only witnessed the breathtaking wonders of nature but also the strength of the Round Table spirit.
In conclusion, my dear friends, I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who played a part in organising the "Amazing Victoria Falls Race." Your hard work, passion, and commitment made this event a resounding success. The memories created, the bonds forged, and the laughter shared will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
May the Round Table spirit continue to flourish, and may our paths cross again in future adventures. Thank you for reminding us of the profound impact that the Round Table movement has on our lives and for reaffirming the values of friendship, unity, and service.

On 20th May 2023 Round Table PE West hosted a social bingo fundraiser at our club house. It was a resounding success story with all 142 members being on deck and executing their roles to distinction.
BUT, lets back track… 45 days prior to the event. The event was birthed at our monthly business meeting on 5th April 2023. The plan was presented by myself (JaJa the Wize) to fellow tablers. We had to correct the initial document to include duties and delegation of responsibility. On presentation the table approved the project not just as fundraiser but also because we wanted to socialize with fellow tablers, potential new tablers and with our table friends who always support us but obviously also to showcase our clubhouse as the perfect host for future events.
I was the ringleader spearheading this project. Through this project we also informed everyday Joe and Sarah from the public what we do and through our Chairman, Cornel Strydom, we thanked our supporters for firstly joining our social event but also to place emphases on the fact that without each of them, no matter how small or big, we won’t be able to support the communities at large.
The dream team from 142 PE West once again showed that no matter how small or big your team is, if there is unity and goals are aligned you can make quick work of any project. Pienaar, Die BALJU, ensured that everything was running smooth, that the Bar was stocked with refreshments to quench the thirsts of our guests (I say guest, because they not visitors; they are 142 People)
tickets were sold within 72 hours. We barely had time to put up posters in the community. We also included burger sales for supper with two decadent salads and amazing home-made burger sauce. What was astounding that all monies for the Bingo tickets and Burgers was paid into account with 10 days (the bulk) and when the event started all monies was received. There was even demand for more tickets, but we simply could not do more.
One day at a time we are winning hearts and we are including all our guests from diverse back grounds and educating them what we are all about. The yield that will come from all of this is new potential members.
We managed to squeeze in roughly 45 people into our clubhouse and they still had enough space. We had great sponsors from weekend aways, restaurant vouchers, cake vouchers, actual designer cup cakes and more. When the tickets sales were first announced 95% of all
The dream team from 142 PE West is alive with possibilities and always adapting how we go about doing our business by adopting and embracing new technologies all the way. Together we help other in need or distress through relentlessly being unselfish.
Yours in Table,
Dewald “JaJa” Niemand Treasurer and Social. At 2022 EP Wintercon, Werner Swanepoel left a well defined footprint on the EP Area. "Gees," he said, "is not the same as fellowship. While fellowship may occasionally come with some gees, we must not confuse the two." While I may not have got his words precisely right (en as ek het, aanvaar asseblief my verskonings Mnr. Swanepoel), I think it's safe to say that I have fairly captured his meaning.
Given the enthusiasm with which Mr Swanepoel’s message was received by the Area, I can’t help but find an irony in the fact that we - generally speaking - spend so little time reflecting on the nature of the word fellowship.
There is no evidence that all Tablers from All clubs understand fellowship to be the same thing. If anything, given the wide variety in fellowship that we see in our Clubs, it is clear that no two Tables approach this issue from the same understanding.
While that may be the case, we, as men and as Tablers, are charged with a moral duty to develop fellowship among young men. At the start of every meeting of the Round Table, this duty is acknowledged and reaffirmed by each and every Tabler. We cannot skirt this duty.
In order to work towards achieving this duty, we need to arrive at a common definition of the concept of fellowship. At the very minimum,
regardless of interpersonal affinity (affiniteit) or animosity (vyandigheid) between members, fellowship must exist as a state of principled cooperation and collaboration between Tablers. Tablers need not be friends, but they must be fellows in their work to achieve the aims and objectives of Round Table Southern Africa. While two principled Table gentlemen may not be friends, it is possible for them to work together by focusing on common objectives, maintaining professionalism, identifying shared interests or values, establishing boundaries and rules, recognising and leveraging differences and building trust over time. While challenges may arise, putting personal differences aside and working towards the common goals of Round Table can lead to effective collaboration despite the initial interpersonal dislike.
This state of being will allow individuals to pool their strengths, knowledge, and resources to tackle and overcome common goals. It must work to cultivate a sense of unity and understanding. It must also work to promote empathy, kindness, and respect.
It can be extremely challenging, however, if not impossible, for fellowship to emerge between a principled person and an unprincipled person. The contrast in values, ethics, and approaches to work will create a fundamental
misalignment that will invariably do damage to us.
A principled individual operates with integrity, honesty, and a strong moral compass, while an unprincipled person may prioritise personal gain, disregard ethical considerations or engage in deceitful practices. Such differences will lead to conflict, erosion of trust and compromised outcomes.
Without shared principles as a foundation, the collaboration is likely to be fraught with tension, ethical dilemmas, and compromised results, making it highly impractical for a principled person to work harmoniously with an unprincipled counterpart. This is not what we want to see in Round Table Southern Africa.
In conclusion, each and every Table ought to have a conversation where it establishes the absolute minimum standards for fellowship at that Table. Once established, that Table must be ruthlessly intolerant of any unprincipled diversion from that general standard and, by extension, of any unprincipled acts or actions undertaken by individual Tablers. If we can achieve that, we’ll have a stronger association overnight.
by Tom Sutherland Round Table 210 Alex KentonTo develop Fellowship among young men through the medium of their professional and business occupations.
On the 4th May 2023, I received a call from Jethro Penny (East London #1 Chairman and Border Area Chairman) asking if Round Table 210 Alex Kenton would be able to assist one Mrs Janice Elizabeth Benn with accommodation options in Kenton on Sea. She was going to walk from Port Elizabeth to East London and needed a place to stay.
That’s a long walk, Janice.
Janice was walking to support Open Arms Childrens Home in East London. The home exists to provide a loving residential environment that serves the emotional, physical, and developmental needs of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
After a few phone calls, we managed to arrange a few things. Mnr Willie Opperman (Round Table 108 Algoa Vice-Chairman) had arranged a BnB for Janice and her crew. Mr Ludwig Kruger (Round Table 55 Aliwal North IRO and Border Area PRO) had arranged for his Club to donate R1,000.00 to her event expenses. Jethro Penny had arranged accommodation in East London. I had arranged accommodation in Kenton on Sea.
In recognition of the gracious work that Table had done for Janice, Buffalo Toyota, one of her title sponsors, was gracious enough to brand her support Toyota vehicle with a beautiful RTSA Rondel. Special thanks must go out to Buffalo Toyota.

Alex KentonAs President of the 41er Association of Southern Africa, my wife and I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the 48th Annual General Meeting of 41 International hosted by Club 41 of Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I) in Stratford-UponAvon from 11 – 14 May. Around 350 delegates from 41 Clubs, Tangent and Agora from all over the world attended the conference.
The Thursday in Stratford-UponAvon stared with registration during the day and in the evening it was time for The Great British BBQ (which is nothing like a proper South African Braai – insert smiley face here). Old friendships were rekindled, and new friendships forged, like only exTablers (and Tablers) can. Friday morning started with a hearty breakfast and then training

By Ben Burger, 41er PresidentOne of the many benefits of being a Tabler is the opportunity to travel the world and connect with likeminded people in all corners of the planet. My wife, Kim, and I were fortunate to be hosted by Round Table Suomi Finland for their AGM in May 2023. I organised to meet up with some friends in the days leading up to the event so on the Saturday we departed; while checking in for our flight to Heathrow it was then we were informed that my wife’s Schengen Visa doesn’t allow her to transit through the UK, long story short, we had to cancel her British Airways flight and find her another flight to Helsinki through an EU country. I continued on the flight to Heathrow as our luggage had been checked in already, Kim got on an Air France flight and we went our separate ways.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING ON A SOUTH AFRICAN PASSPORT ON A SCHENGEN “C” VISA YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE UK –EVEN IF YOU ARE JUST CHANGING FLIGHTS AND STAYING INSIDE THE AIRPORT.
Anyway, I arrived the following
morning and was met by Teemu, Helsinki 60 Tabler who took me to drop our bags, have lunch and enjoy some much needed refreshments. On the way back to the airport to collect Kim we did a city tour. Kim arrived and we caught the train back to our accommodation, at some stage we climbed on the incorrect tram and we enjoyed another tour of the city. We eventually found our way and by this time it was now 8pm, but the sun was still high in the sky!?!? Something that took some getting used to but we enjoyed a lovely walk on the promenade and saw the beauty of Helsinki in early spring.
The following morning we went off to check out the sights and sounds of the city, a great experience. That afternoon we boarded the ferry to Estonia and went to spend a couple days with Kristjan, Estonia IRO. He met us at the ferry station and we went back to his house to meet his family and relax with a BBQ and a couple drinks. Now I’d heard about the Scandinavians and their love of the sauna (pronounced sow-nuh) and a lot of them have one in their
home, a few hours later there I am kaal-gat in the sauna with a man I had just met!! A very interesting, but enjoyable experience.
The next day we went to Tallinn Old Town, an unbelievable experience and I recommend anyone with the opportunity to go and see this amazing historical place; it was like nothing we expected and the mix of first world and centuries old architecture was quite a sight.
The next morning we took the ferry back to Helsinki and a train to Hameenlinna where we met up with Lauri Takala, Past Finland President, and he showed us around his home town. That evening we went to a bar and watched the Finland Ice Hockey team defeat the French in a World Cup, very cool to be there for that.
On Thursday we continued up to Ikaalinen Spa, the AGM venue for both Round Table and Ladies Circle Finland, and surprise surprise the opening night theme was sow-nuh and pool party. Lots of fellowship and making new friends followed.
After a good night’s rest the international guests set off to spend the day at summer house on a lake. A perfect spring day with good company - we enjoyed more sownuh, a BBQ and plenty Salmiakki and Minttu. It was then back on the bus and off to the Finnish Barn Dance for another evening of fun, lots of fun.

like ARTSA there were plenty of wounded soldiers, these ones taking to the Long Drink (a Finnish blend of gin & grapefruit) to shake off the demons from the previous night. The meeting obviously held in a language foreign to us so we were treated to a helicopter flip over the resort grounds; lakes and forest everywhere but incredibly beautiful. The Finns also don’t hold “Friday Forums” so their AGM is LOOOOONG, and at 16h30 the international guests were invited in at the close to introduce themselves. Another great experience and we were very well received.
The last night was the gala dinner and a fitting end to what had been a whirlwind week. Thank you to all the people who took us in and showed us around, thank you to Anti Helle (now past Finland IRO) for pulling out all the stops and giving us the best time; and to RTSA for giving us the opportunity to see the world.
Interesting Note: In Finland, Round Table and Ladies Circle is more a fellowship / self-growth group as there is very little needed in the way of charity or community service and that really hit home with how important RTSA is in helping keep our country afloat.

George Round Table 30 adopted the same policy as our brothers down the coastline, whereby we ask that every adult that enters our clubhouse, presents a can of tinned food as an entry fee.
This is how we change things up and improve on our promise of driving and delivering impactful change. By

By Niel EnslinRound Table Mossel Bay's commitment to keeping our beaches clean and healthy, as well as protecting and enhancing ocean health, has been re-affirmed with our most recent set of Beach Cleanups.
Spanning over the past two months and in collaboration with volunteers and environmentally conscious institutions, our Members set off to collect and discard of plastic debris scattered along the very popular Hartenbos coastline.
To quantify our efforts, waste collected is now being weighed and recorded to inspire evidence-based action, awareness and education on the scale of ocean pollution, even on Blue Flag beaches.
It's up to our generation to be cognizant of the potentially life-threatening effects of ocean pollution and to mobilise proactive efforts to keep plastic waste in check.
Ultimately, our goal should be to stem the root of the problem, getting to a point where single-use plastic is obsolete.
Mossel Bay 32, with the help of our steadfast volunteers, will keep on turning the tide on ocean pollution, and explore innovative ways to strengthen our ongoing campaign.

Tee off in The South Cape Area, & Table on! - By Paul Hoeksema, Mossel Bay 32
Round Table Stutterheim 103 was fortunate to win the Bingo Draw this year Destination… Madagascar. As 1 International traveller suddenly became 2 a day before departure, where Wynand Botha decided to catch the flight with me, Round Table Madagascar embraced the addition and made it happen Moving forward, traveling with fellow Tablers as opposed to flying solo is definitely recommended, especially in a Country where very little people speak English. It is also a lot more fun being able to build memories together.
After landing in Antananarivo and being met by Mandressy & Tafita, we enjoyed an evening out in the Capital City. The next day we headed down to Manakara with the Round Table Madagascar National President, Gael Randrianarison The coastal town of Manakara is situated on the South East Coast, roughly 550km (16 Hours Drive) With beautiful landscapes which constantly change as you head South, the slow & grueling drive is eased by the surrounding views
We were fortunate to witness the chartering of a new table within the Ladies Circle in a town called Farafangana, South of Marakana A very well organized event & we know the Ladies will grow the region with their vision and plans for the Area. The passion and commitment of the Ladies organization in association with Round Table was truly reflected throughout our time in Madagascar
The AGM was definitely a unique experience and it is truly evident that there is a strong fellowship which flows through each and every Table and together they are certainly a very strong and festive unit Open to new and creative ideas, the members of Madagascar are driving forward and keen to make a big difference within their communities. The Gala Dinner which followed was a real WOW occasion In true Madagascar style, like everything else, the event begun 3 hours late International guests were welcomed by the singing of your Countries National Anthem which was a very nice touch Everyone was dressed to impress at the Red Carpet Themed Dinner where the new incoming Round Table Madagascar National President and his Executives were Inducted. Side by side with the Induction of the Ladies Circle’s New Council.
The Food and Hospitality was simply outstanding A highlight was certainly the Round Table Nations Night which served up a delicious variety buffet & the island party took us into the early hours with great vibes and festive music
We were truly taken aback by the willingness of the Tablers & Ladies Circle where nothing was ever too much and we were able to experience their beautiful country and travel around being shown and informed what their culture is all about We were always accompanied by fellow Tablers (Incl some very cool 41ers) and never felt insecure or unsafe The instant bonds which were created will definitely last a life time as we as “Table Brothers” cannot wait to meet up at future International events where our paths will cross again.
A country facing so many challenges with extreme poverty & overcrowding, yet rich in resources and opportunities, the beautiful island of Madagascar can only grow from strength to strength and Round Table is certainly proving that By standing together, we can all make a difference
A big thank you to Mandressy Iron as the 2022/2023 IRO (& Tabler of the Year) for doing an outstanding job within his profile making this tour possible and effortless. Too many names to mention, but as is always the case, a fantastic opportunity to tour and travel whilst building new friendships which will last a lifetime
