Hospitality Suite District Conference 2022 This year the RC Boca Raton West, the club of the DGElect Douglas Heizer, had the pleasure of being the host for the hospitality suite, for the District Conference that took place on October 21st in Melbourne. I would like to share with you the amazing experience we had during this event. First, I must express my gratitude to PDG Arthur Hodge and our fellow Rotarians Martin Lewis, and Pam O'Donnell from Sunrise Rotary of Vero Beach. Martin and Pam had the generosity to share with us a list of the items they used in the last hospitality suite hosted by their club. This was the starting point for budgeting and planning the event. The guidance and instructions received from Arthur to make sure we had all we needed to perform the task was the key to our success as first time hosts. He was available to answer any questions and helped us to get the hotel services team to cooperate with our needs. Thank you, Arthur, Martin, and Pam! We could not have done it properly without your amazing support. Being a Brazilian club member, we could not resist bringing a little Brazilian flavor to the hospitality suite. As a snack we served Popular “Coxinha”, which was originally introduced to Brazil by a French Chef from the court of D. João VI. The story is based on the book by Antonin Carême (1784-1833), a famous chef, who wrote the work "L'Art de la cuisine française au XIXème Siècle". Coxinha has a variety of flavors. We served chicken, meat and cheese coxinha. Our sweet selection was to serve “Brigadeiro”. It is made of condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter, with chocolate sprinkles covering the outside layer. It is a popular confection throughout the country, especially for festive events.

I had the opportunity to be in the hospitality suites before as a guest but this first-time experience as a host brought so much joy. We met amazing people, made new friends, shared our history, and accomplished our task, putting our best foot forward, to show our appreciation to our DG Buck Vocelle. I believe that we also made the participants, in the name of D6930, feel very welcome. Thank you Buck for the great time and amazing District conference 2022. By Angelica Blakely

D6960 ROTARIANS AT WORK ON SANIBEL ISLAND HURRICANE IAN - ROTARY DISASTER RELIEF. Thanks to Rotary's D6960's DG Neil Snyder, District Disaster Relief Committee, Rotary Club of Sanibel Captiva and Rotarian David Lowden (who organized our Disaster Relief group). Below is a glimpse into the devastation on Sanibel island after a "direct hit" from Hurrican Ian, packing winds of 155 mph and 12-18 feet of storm surge. We cleaned out two flooded homes (everything was lost in each); and we tore out the drywall in one of them. Only residents, utility companies, contractors, government agencies and disaster relief groups are allowed on the island on specified days. The island will be closed to everyone this Monday & Tuesday for continued clean up and utility work.
