"FESTIVAL OF IMPORTANT PERSONALITIES"

Every Thursday our Club Boca Raton West holds fantastic reunions, I would say that these weekly sessions are so enjoyable that during the meets, while we are still savoring the succulent dinners we are already looking forward to the next meetings, as the fellowship that abounds is so appreciated and to the satisfaction of everyone.

This Thursday, January 26, 2023, this reunion got even better and more inviting, as the meeting was transformed into a "festival of important personalities"... Our governor informed us that he was inviting a very special person to participate in our meeting.

President RI: Jennifer Jones

Governor: Louis Vocelle Jr. (Buck)

Stephanie A. Urchick, who was chosen to be the president of Rotary International in 2024-25, accepted the invitation

from our Governor Elect of District 6930, Mr Douglas Heizer to give a presentation at our weekly meeting, which to our pride she accepted.

We are an active club and with some peculiarities at heart: We are the first club in the United States to meet in our main language (Portuguese), the governor 2023/2024 is one of the founders, and I do not need to explain that Brazilians are people of broad gestures, warm hugs and intense celebrations, which would make this a magnificent party, the joy would be as intense as the work of the organization.

I confess that knowing that Stephanie of the Rotary Club of McMurray PA, USA was selected as our future President 2024/2025, making her the second woman to hold the position of International President, would come to honor our meeting, brought many expectations to each one of us and those who could participate in this indescribable event would leave this meeting encouraged to do good, both Rotarians and guests

Another reason for us to be happier, is that we are a club with a majority of female members, so the happiness was contagious. The Pavilion Grille Restaurant was chosen because it is an important partner of our club, normally with each big new celebration we are welcomed by the team, who always offer us a delicious and varied menu, with 5star service Here we record our special thanks for everything they do to please us and the guests There were almost 100 guests – which for us, is a demonstration of affection from all the clubs that came to honor us and were surprised by this humble, emotional and dedicated woman who impacted us with her words.

Our guest Miss Urchick is a partner and chief operating officer of Doctors at Work LLC, a consulting and training firm. She has a doctorate in leadership studies from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is active on numerous community boards and committees and has been honored by organizations such as Zonta International and Sons of the American Revolution.

A Rotarian since 1991, Stephanie Urchick has traveled to Vietnam to help build an elementary school and to the Dominican Republic to install water filters She studies several Slavic languages, mentored new Rotarians in Ukraine, and coordinated a Rotary Foundation grant project in Poland. With all this "royalty of titles and accomplishments, she made it very clear in that meeting that what moves her the most is the ability to put herself in the other's shoes, and among other reasons she said that “because she doesn't have children, and being in a position and in a time that she manages well, she can fully dedicate herself to the role”.

Our future President Stephanie has served Rotary in many capacities, including as Director, Foundation trustee, and Chair of the RI Strategic Planning Committee and Commemoration Committee of the Foundation's Centennial. She currently serves on the Election Review Committee and the Operations Review Committee.

Also, she is a Major Donor to The Rotary Foundation and a member of the Giving Society

My personal perspective on this Thursday night was great, we knew that many important people who use their talents to Cont.pag.4

help and make projects worthy of applause came to meet us and it was a wonderful opportunity to see our pride in receiving them.

The room gradually became filled, with Giants smiles, friendly people with that air of kindness that we find in the dedicated Rotarians around our members' desks, who did very well with the plan to offer a friendly hug and a welcoming smile By the way, the team that came together to put this event on the air is to be congratulated

Our Governor Elect Douglas dreamed, and our President Luciana Beuke was a "master" in the art of organizing, together with a delicate and dedicated member, Angélica Blakely, Bernadete Zagonel and Marli Saraiva, they turned a dream into a true reception.

My husband and I were able to keep company and were proud to help welcome some fantastic Rotarians to our table. One of these wonderful fellows was Rick Lawrence representing – Guatemala Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Projects, as well as the Ryiz couple. Mr. Ryiz was once a Rotarian in Massachusetts and his wife, who is Brazilian, never had the opportunity to participate in a Rotarian meeting. Both were impressed with the event, in addition to all the emotions, for both of us it was delightful to celebrate our wedding anniversary with these very special people

Of course, all this would not have been possible without other clubs that had accepted our invitations with diplomacy and kindness, and came to meet us or see us again, here is our special thanks to everyone. For the previous directors, the current ones,

the qualified governors who were in charge, or will be in charge in the future, we sincerely thank you each of you for your presence. At this meeting it was truly clear that being an outstanding Rotarian is the path for individuals who see the world with a personal point of view shaped by a life dedicated to others.

Experiences, values, premises and many other points make this team of servers the true magic that is this Giant Community that is called Rotary Club

Being part of this club makes each of us proud to be able to serve together with such special people. And on this journey towards more and new experiences and fantastic encounters, here we hope to be on the right path.

Once again, we thank our future President and leave here our commitment to follow the guidelines of your management Stephanie. With the certainty that our founder and Governor 2023/2024 Mr. Heizer will be an outstanding governor and will give us many opportunities to serve our district, and here we remain confident that we are a growing group.
