Rosie Sinclair Product Designer
about me
Being an innovative Product Designer I strive to work with clients to better the social and environmental issues of today. I bring forth exceptional design skills which are created through a detailed design process of iteration, prototype models, CAD models and final product solutions.

ReclineRelief
Recline, stay calm, and keep your head above waters.
To develop water rescue equipment that prevents the impacts of cold water shock, ensuring the user stays calm and above water.
My final design was finalised upon conducting semistructured interviews, surveys, and research on existing products. Product testing ensured accurate deployment and ergonomics were satisfactory for all uses

Storyboard - Problem to the Solution
Tim and Ben are walking home along the canal after being at the pub for a couple drinks.
Ben stumbles on the uneven path causing himself to fall into the cold canal waters.
Ben begins to experience cold water shock and his heart rate begins to rapidly increase.
Tim quickly notices the ReclineRelief in the distance, due to its bold, bright colours.
Ben holds the RelineRelief in the H.E.L.P position, his heart rate lowers and his head is kept above waters.
Ben stays calm in waters until the Royal Life Saving Society rescues him to his safety. Illustrated

Appearance Model
This project exposed me to a variation of forms and purposes of modelling including drawn representations, and digital, schematic, and physical models. I focused on experimentation, problem-solving, and communicating through modelling.

Model Making
Stencil cut from orthographic drawing of the Savoy Vase.
Cross section made to combine the top and bottom section.
Paper is used to curve round the edges, creating the iconic Savoy formation.
Paper and card prototype.
Scale model made of Styrofoam, to use as the mould for vacuum forming.
Polypropylene is used to vacuum form over foam mould, creating the appearance model.

Design Activism
From design thinking to design activism.
Final Model
To design a product that highlights or tackles the social and environmental impacts associated with the cocoa production.
This project allowed me to develop my global outlook and critical appreciation of social and related environmental justice issues associated with the design of products. I was able to develop my own approach to responsible design.
05 Design Activism
Primary research gathered shows that West African Countries such as Ghana and Cote showed a higher rate of deforestation than countries such as Brazil and Ecuador.
higher rate of deforestation
lower rate of deforestation
In order to portray the deforestation in West Africa, I created an array of leafless trees on Adobe Illustrator, which were then laser cut onto a thin sheet of MDF. This feature serves as a visual cue to raise awareness about the issue and inspire action toward conservation efforts
Social Element
Primary and secondary research showed that the consumption of chocolate produced negative mental and physical effects, the pedometer is used to track the number of steps taken daily encouraging fitness thus benefiting the users health
I produced these graphic pedometer icons on Illustrator, it displays the number of steps taken throughout the day, a fact about deforestation, and an encouraging message to increase motivation.

CAD Iteration
Free-hand Sketching Form Ideation
This pendant light pays tribute to the ash trees lost to ash dieback, a disease that has ravaged the UK and Europe. Its organic and natural form is inspired by the seed pods of ash trees, which symbolize the hope and resilience of new growth and a new generation of trees.
Storyboard
The Smith's family have gone out for a summers walk to their local woodland, surrounded by ash trees.
10 years pass and the majority of the ash trees have been cut down due to the spread of the ash dieback disease.
The Smith family purchase the Ash Lux, they assemble the product together and hang it up to remind them of the new generation of ash trees yet to come.
The family is hopeful as they have contributed to the planting of new trees, ensuring a new generation of trees.

ASH LUX
I proudly showcase the poster I designed for the Ash Lux pendant light. Inspired by nature, this captivating piece features ash wood elegantly steam bent into the form of an ash tree’s seed pod. Using my skills in Adobe InDesign, I was able to capture the essence of the product’s craftsmanship and its seamless integrations with the natural world.
John and Sarah often go on walks into their local woodland, Kingswood, which is filled with ash trees as old as 200 years.
After the outbreak of ash dieback, the majority of ash trees have been cut down due to the fungus infection.
Later, they purchase the Ash Lux online as they want to contribute to helping manage UK woodlands from ash dieback.
They assemble the light together at home and feel hopeful for the next generation of ash trees yet to come.

Steam Bent Wood
Easy Assembly
The pendant light that honours the memory of an ash tree and promotes reforestation efforts.
Hand Crafted
01. Material Selection
Ash wood is a durable and abundant material that captures carbon emissions from the air, making it a renewable and sustainable material.
02. Steam Bending
The Ash Lux is manufactured using steam bending. This process minimizes waste, reduces energy consumption and lowers environmental impact.
03. Circular Design
The Ash Lux is designed to be easily disassembled, meaning its components can be re purposed and recycled. This minimizes waste and extends the products lifespan.
04. Social Contribution
10% of profits goes towards planting saplings such as Oak, Beech and Scots
Pine to combat the loss of ash trees due to ash dieback.
