Marbella and the Costa del Sol have been home to me since 1986 when I moved to Cabopino from the UK with my family. Cabopino really was a “hidden gem” in those days, and all that existed were a couple of bars and restaurants overlooking the marina. It was idyllic and felt like our very own piece of paradise.
Fast forward 37 years. Cabopino still retains much of its original charm but now offers a fabulous choice of waterfront restaurants, vibrant bars, a long, sandy beach and a wide selection of superb properties. It’s an excellent place to live or spend a holiday. And that’s why we have an office here.
With over 20 years experience in the real estate industry on the Costa del Sol, we decided to specialise in buying and selling Marbella East properties because this beautiful part of southern Spain offers so much. We believe that Marbella East is simply the best place to buy a second home or rental property. From luxurious penthouses in Los Monteros, opulent villas in Elviria, stunning townhouses in Rio Real and magnificent apartments in Cabopino and now, since the successful launch of our magazine and in response to customer enquiries, we have extended our coverage and products further East of Marbella to La Cala de Mijas. This extremely popular part of the Costa del Sol has a wide selection of sought after properties and a buzzing ‘village’ life with all amenities from Health Centres to popular supermarkets; and of course a plethora of bars and restaurants and night life. If you have a property for sale in the area we have clients looking for their special place. Contact us now.
Apart from this hard copy magazine we have our online version which we up date weekly and with our exclusive QR codes you will be able to find your perfect property: It’s just a ‘click’ away.
All of this area is known for its lack of high rise buildings and its prestigious golf courses – many with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. This highly sought-after part of the Costa del Sol is also a perfect place to buy if you’re looking for an investment. Cabopino and La Cala, in particular, offer a diverse range of properties with excellent, year-round rental potential. The beauty of this thriving port and its surrounding areas, is that there’s a vast range of amenities and facilities, so if you don’t want to hire a car, you don’t need to. Whatever you are looking for in Marbella East, if it’s out there, we will find it for you if you’re looking for your very own slice of paradise, we’ve got you covered.

If you are lucky enough to have booked a holiday on the Costa del Sol, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to great beaches in the area. On the following pages you will find some of our favourites
This amazingly long, clean, white beach attracts visitors from all over the Costa, and due to the length of the beach, it never seems to get too crowded. Golden Beach is located just 5km east of Marbella. Take the Cerrado de Elviria exit and head straight down to the beach. Restaurants and beach bars on or close to Golden Beach include the Don Carlos Beach Club (Nikki Beach). Why not spend the day on the beach and enjoy an early evening meal nearby, with a choice of casual and fine dining restaurants nearby in Elviria.
If you are looking to rub shoulders with the jet set or simply chill out with some great sounds, visit one of the fabulous beaches in Puerto Banus. During the summer months, there are plenty of live bands and guest DJ´s performing on the beaches of Puerto Banus, and in the many beach clubs dotted along the shore. Whether you want to chill out and relax or go wild at a champagne spray party, you will find plenty of great beaches in and around Puerto Banus. Also, a great choice of water sports are available including paragliding, kite surfing, jet skiing and water skiing. When you have finished soaking up the rays, there is no better place than Puerto Banus to enjoy a wide choice of superb restaurants, serving fresh fish, authentic Spanish dishes, tapas, paella, Indian food, Italian fare and even fish and chips if you want it. The best beach in Puerto Banus is situated east of the Marina, and although there are plenty of parking spaces, to avoid paying, you should try and arrive early in the summer months.
Cabopino Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Costa del Sol, and is situated just 7km west of Marbella town centre. Exit the motorway at the sign for Cabopino and then follow signs for the beach or drive into the Marina (you may have to pay to park in the Marina but not for the beach), and stroll around the water side cafés, the boats, and the lush gardens of Cabopino. The beach attracts sun seekers from all over the Costa del Sol, and it is safe for children, as it is relatively shallow and sheltered by two rocky outcrops. You will find two beach bars on the sand in Cabopino, both of which open early for coffee and breakfast, and stay open late into the evening. Enjoy delicious fresh fish tapas, jugs of sangria, full meals, and local seafood, or simply enjoy a snack or an ice cream in this ideal setting.
Wherever you decide to stay during your Costa del Sol holiday, make the most of your time and explore the beaches in and around Marbella. The main coast road will take you from Marbella west to east in under an hour and you will find plenty of beaches, restaurants and attractions on route.

Ronda is one of the most stunning white towns in Andalucia
The three bridges that span the 120ft gorge are the most wellknown and the tallest one is Puente Nuevo. The Arabic baths are also worth a visit as they date back to the 13th century, and the Plaza de Toros bullring, is one of the oldest in Spain. Reach Ronda by car in just one hour from Marbella.
Tarifa boasts some of the best beaches and waves in southern Spain. Attracting surfers and sun seekers from all over Europe, Tarifa is the point where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet, resulting in high waves. Tarifa is just a 90 minute drive from Marbella.
Sipping a mojito or strawberry daiquiri at one of Marbella’s beach clubs is probably one of the coolest things to do in this glitzy town during summer time. Spend a day at Nikki Beach for a real feel of ‘how the other half live’ in Marbs.
Browse around the art galleries in and around the streets of the old town of Marbella. This is a great place to pick up something for home or to buy gifts for family and friends.
Nueva Andalucia Market takes place every Saturday around Centro Plaza Shopping Centre and is a mecca for shopaholics. Make a day of it and enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants near the market, while bagging bargains such as leather goods, handbags, shoes, handicrafts, ceramics and jewellery.
A tapas tour is a tasty way to while away an afternoon or evening in Marbella. Explore the back streets and the old town for some of the best tapas bars in southern Spain, offering local favourites such as stuffed red peppers, Spanish omelette and Serrano ham.
There is no better place to people watch or yacht watch than Puerto Banus. Sit in one of the waterside bars and look out for celebrities and famous sporting stars who often anchor their yachts at the port. If you are feeling flush, why not charter a yacht for the day.
You can reach the Sierra Nevada mountain range in just over 2 hours from Marbella. Ski, snowboard or toboggan on over 100 runs for all abilities. The main season starts in November and lasts until April.
Take in all the sights of Marbella while relaxing in a horse driven carriage. Pick up your carriage next to Parque Alameda in the centre of Marbella and take a tour up towards the old town and around the streets.
Culture vultures are spoilt for choice in Malaga, which is just at 45 minute drive from Marbella. Visit the Picasso Museum which hosts some of the artist’s most famous and stunning works of art, the stunning cathedral and the famous Calle Larios, the city’s main shopping street.
It’s hard to believe that, this July 2023, marks 30 years since the demise of the ill fated BBC soap Eldorado. It still represents the longest ongoing battle to bring back a programme even after all these years. Imagine if it was updated, it would compete with other ‘paradisiacal, overseas series’ like “Death in Paradise”. At the time of its launch it was ground breaking, because nobody had ever attempted filming and editing ‘on site’ an overseas programme, ready for broadcast, from Europe, even for one programme a week, but three……..?
Unheard of; but it was done. If you are younger than 30 years of age you probably only hear of it as some urban myth. But it did exist and sadly, shrouded by BBC politics, only made it to the first year, before Alan Yentob, at that time, the newly appointed Director General at the corporation, axed it unceremoniously.
I and my partner at the time, had a casting agency based in Fuengirola when we were contacted by our friend James Todesco who had joined forces with his friend and serial film producer, John Dark to put together a film studios behind the Lew Hoad’s Tennis Club on the road to Mijas. So we moved our offices to the studios and started working on future TV programmes. One of which was the dream of James and John to have a soap filmed on the Coast. They discussed it with the BBC who contacted Julia Smith and Tony Holland, the producer and writer respectively of the BBC’s massive success, “EastEnders”. John and James were to be the producers, but despite John’s track record the powers that be said the only way the package would work for the BBC was if the highly respected and prolific TV produce Verity Lambert was to be the Executive Producer.
The game was on. The working title that we wanted was something like, Marbella, Marbella. Tony Holland wanted “Little England” in the end the perverse name of Eldorado was chosen by the BBC.
‘So what has this got to do with Cabopino?’ I hear you
ask. We had to find locations and whilst we visited plenty of places, John and James had done a deal with the town council of Coin, a small town on the outskirts of Mijas where the main set was to be built. We had stopped for a drink in Calahonda at the El Zoco commercial centre when Tony had his eureka moment. He had found his Little England and the set designer Keith (Bomber) Harris — who designed Albert Square — had to design our set in the same style as El Zoco — and it was. So this is now where Cabopino comes in. We needed a beach bar. So, we built one. With permission from the Port and the authorities we were allowed to construct an authentic ‘ chiringuito ’. Part of the deal was that if and when the series came to an end, or a different location was chosen, that the production company had to leave the Beach Bar as it was. And that is what happened — be it prematurely.
So next time you go into La Lonja Beach Bar, you will be soaking up some BBC/Spanish history. You may feel the ‘ghosts’ of the actors and their characters who may wish they were still here, just like their colleagues in Eastenders, Emmerdale Farm or Coronation Street.

An integral part of the vision of the La Finca project is the juxtaposition of modern contemporary styling with the peaceful surroundings of traditional olive groves and a beautiful mountain backdrop, thus maintaining the peaceful Andalusian atmosphere unique to the area. In blending natural beauty with modernity the developers offer the best of both worlds, a location which is central and convenient yet tranquil and secure.
The success of La Finca de Marbella has been firmly based on the unique selling points of prime location, stunning design, premium quality and competitive pricing. This winning combination has allowed the developer to extend the original concept to the new phase on the adjacent land, with some upgraded design features which they are proud to introduce.
Careful planning has ensured that there will be sea and mountain views from many of the plots. The majority have south west orientation with views of Marbella and the sparkling Mediterranean, the beautiful La Concha Mountain, and the famous Puerto Banús. Legal representation and assistance is particularly necessary in Spain when purchasing or selling property. The Conveyancing process in Spain involves different degrees of participation by various parties: the seller, their legal representative, the real estate agent, the accountant, a notary public, the registrar, utilities companies, the town hall of the municipality where the purchase is being made, banks, and in some cases the local courts, regional authorities and even the seller’s neighbour (they may even have something to say).
The lawyer will ensure that all parties are appropriately co-ordinated and followed-up with and will perform an investigation to ensure that the property is purchased without any previous charge or liability that could incur additional costs or reduce the property’s value.
Our conveyancing service includes the following:
1. Complete all necessar y searches on the legal status of the property and the developer/vendor, informing the buyer/s of any issues discovered that may influence the decision or conditions of the purchase.
2. Liaise and agree with vendor/s and/or lawyers in respect of terms and conditions of the purchase, ensuring compliance with current laws. In the
event that the vendors are non-resident in Spain, a lawyer ensures that any amount paid prior to completion is lodged safely with a resident party, preferably the vendor’s lawyer’s account.
3. Make preparations at the Notar y Public for completion of the purchase or any further preparations required relating to the purchase such as preparation of powers of attorney for individuals abroad (duly legalised and translated) which give authority to a physical person/s to act on behalf of the buyers.
4. Assist in the completion process and ensure title deeds are properly registered in the appropriate local Land Registry, and that the property(ies) is free from all charges and encumbrances, free from occupants and tenants, as well as payment of the relevant taxes associated with the purchase.
5. Assist in locating, negotiating and obtaining a mortgage loan to finance the purchase of the property. The obtaining of the mortgage loan may be in the form of an approval in principle prior to the signing of the private purchase contract and is understood without prejudice to any other mortgage facility provided by the developer or the vendor.
6. Obtain the NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjeros), or foreigners identification number.
