UBS Finance Academy Winner The UBS Finance Academy is to provide leadership in banking educaGon with a parGcular focus on senior high school students. Hannah Deo was one of fiby Year 11 students across NSW, Victoria and ACT to parGcipate which will run at Macquarie University in July. Mock Trial Team Update The Rooty Hill High School Mock Trial team has conGnued their winning streak progressing to the regional semi-­‐finals. The team, which consists of Clare Da Silva in Year 11 and Year 10 students Rose Al-­‐Kahili, Rachelle Ra=vo, Nilufar Shah, Robyn Bascara, Adrienne Mazo, and Iris Ongkingco, have conGnued to represent the school in an outstanding manner.

Excursions and Incursions ANZAC Day Assembly On Friday 11th of April, RHHS held its ANZAC DAY CommemoraGve Assembly. We were very fortunate and privileged this year to have the company of our special guests from Blacktown RSL Sub-­‐Branch Mr John O’Brien and Mr Michael Reid. We look very forward to having t h e m a g a i n n e x t y e a r t o commemorate the 100th Anzac Day Centenary. T h e workshop presented real-­‐life examples and case studies which cover concepts such as income tax, superannuaGon, employee rights, how to read a pay slip; right through to strategies for saving and becoming a savvy consumer. Year 11 & 12 Legal Studies Excursion to Supreme Court of NSW Close to 40 students parGcipated in this fantasGc opportunity to see the law in acGon.

Y11 + Y12 M o de r n His to r y Excursion: Sydney Jewish Museum The senior Modern History classes visited the Sydney Jewish Museum. Year 11 students parGcipated in the workshop ‘Unearthing the H o l o c a u s t : S e r n i k i a n d t h e Australian War Crimes Trials’. Year

1 2 s t u d e n t s u n d e r t o o k a workshop which focussed on their HSC Personality, Leni Riefenstahl. Working In the Classroom: Students in Year 7 and Year 9 History have made History themselves this semester. They are among the first students in Australia to be taught using the new History Curriculum. Out and About M s Y a s o d a i S e l v a k u m a r a n presented at the Asia EducaGon FoundaGon conference in Sydney o n T u e s d a y J u n e 1 7 . T h e conference brings together Educators from all over Australia to showcase Asian Literacy. Aboriginal educa=on AIME kicks off for another year! T h e A u s t r a l i a n I n d i g e n o u s Mentoring Experience program started up again this term for students in Years 9, 10 and 12. CongratulaGons to the following students for their fantasGc parGcipaGon: Year 9 students: Tyler Hopkinson, Nathan Field, Leroy Jones, Danny Edwards, Erika Simpson, Nita Jennings, Tabatha Starr. Year 10 students: Kiarna Overs and BriQany Ryan. Year 12 students: Tiana Edwards, Jay Edwards, Carl Ryan and James Sinclair. This semester students in the AFL Indigenous Academies have been working to produce a video on ReconciliaGon under the guidance of Program Manager: Luke Penrith. The video will be launched to our school community officially as part of NAIDOC celebraGons early in Term 3. The Academy program also features in the June EdiGon of The Australian EducaGon.
