ASIA HOREDA 2021

FOREWORD As the largest B2B sourcing platform for the F&B and retail industries in Hong Kong this year, the show marks a major task for us to restart in Hong Kong amid the pandemic. Recognising the interrelationship between the hospitality and retail sectors in recent years, this year HOFEX is held alongside Retail Asia Conference and Expo to introduce innovative technology and solutions to industry professionals. We believe this partnership will spark exchanges of inspiration between respective fields. To achieve this goal, we have gone to great lengths to implement new initiatives, bringing Asia Hospitality and Retail Design Awards to the ground floor, co-organising with our long-supported partner, PRC Magazine. We are pleased to see such an overwhelming response, as this signifies the passion and solidarity of the entire food, hospitality and retail industry. We are blessed to receive heartfelt trust and continuous support from our event partner PRC Magazine and all the distinguished judges, who have reached out and given their best endeavours to contribute in the event. I believe together, we make a strong army, pulling the show and the industry to a greater scale! Janice Lee Event Director Informa Markets – Organiser of HOFEX & Retail Asia Conference and Expo

ASIA HOREDA 2021

FOREWORD As Publisher of PRC Magazine, I am delighted to continue our productive and fruitful relationship with Informa Markets, our Co-Organisers of these inaugural Asia Hospitality and Retail Design Awards 2021. Partnering with the world’s largest exhibition organiser ensures access and exposure to an unrivalled industry and professional network, locally and throughout the region. As the global pandemic has impacted lives and business in every corner of the world, the organisers were aware that few if any sectors of the economy had been as negatively impacted and the hospitality and retail sectors. In deciding to establish Asia HOREDA Awards in 2021, the organisers were clear in their belief that currently, showing solidarity with these sectors was more important than ever before. The partnerships that underpin the success of all business are bonds that we share, not only when the world’s economies are flourishing, but also when we must face life’s greatest challenges. We are, to borrow the often-used phrase, Stronger Together. I express my gratitude to all of those who have come together to make Asia HOREDA Awards 2021 possible, including our Co-Organiser, the judges for their valuable time and for those businesses that were able to enter this year’s competition despite such worrying uncertainty in the market. We look forward to building upon this success at the next event in 2023. Mike Staley Publisher PRC Magazine, published by ROF Media

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS CBD2 Richards Basmajian Interiors Limited The new Holiday Inn Express (HIEX) in Kwun Tong, a collaboration between Glorious Sun and the InterContinental Hotels Group, is a 31 storey, 286 key hotel in Hong Kong’s second Central Business District (CBD2) on the North side of Victoria Harbour. The hotel lobby opens directly from How Ming Street and makes a striking impression on the streetscape with its colorfully lit double height core wall forming a backdrop to the lobby seating area. The floor plate varies up the building with 15 rooms on the largest floors with standard rooms at 212 square feet. While seemingly abstract, the concept for the backdrop comes from the idea of a nest, giving comfort, warmth and protection to the weary traveler, formed by a tangle of branches and twigs with bright flashes of colour reminiscent of iridescent peacock feathers. It is a theme that continues throughout the hotel in the circulation areas and lift car interiors and into the hotel rooms where the branches turn to green symbolising new growth.

TODAY IS LONG CAFÉ Absence from Island

The cafe is a place to house the clients’ fond memories of Australia and their common passion for good coffee. They named the cafe “Today is Long” and the design took after the golden sunset in Australia as well as the sandstone monolith - Uluru in the Red Centre. The different arrangements of sunset hemispheres indeed helped form a strong geometrical facade and distinguished the cafe from its surroundings of old buildings. Big windows, various plantings and large amounts of white colour were employed to bring in nature as well as to create a bright and airy environment for customers.

OUTSTANDING HOTEL BUILDING SOLUTION  Use of new materials and technologies

ROSEWOOD L5 THE LEGACY HOUSE Orientop Limited

Orientop recently completed a project Rosewood Hong Kong, the 260 sqm The Legacy House on L5. Working in close collaboration with Melbourne-based BAR Studio, and the project’s lighting consultant, Orientop provided a stunning finished product, the design of which draws the customer’s attention while they enter the lobby. The quality of the materials used in this project was integral in delivering a high-quality finished product. Given the intricate patterns in the design the on-site installation required all Orientop’s extensive experience to achieve the desired result. The patterns in Orientop’s art glass ceiling and the carpet are mirrored, which creates a unique effect, one admired by visitors and the hotel operator alike. “Producing a single piece of sample product is always easy but knowing how to bring it to reality is where the real challenge lies. That we can translate the design intent into reality with our technology and knowledge is the main advantage of Orientop’s many years of experience and technical know-how.”
