Join Joan Hart, Director of Museum One to discuss Van Gogh’s painting, “The Starry Night,” which has become an icon of our times. Guitar - Beginning and Continuing
Learn a new skill or refresh one long forgotten with this acoustic guitar course taught by Kevin Mittleman from the School of Music. Class covers basic strumming techniques, scales, melodies, basic theory, and tips to get you playing. Students need a guitar and notebook. Handbells
This is a fun course using color-coded lightweight hand bells and requires no previous musical knowledge. Each student will get to use one or two bells and the group together will play folk and some classical music. As the class progresses, learn to play chords. Practicing is not required. At the end of the session, there will be a short performance at the center. A $10 music book fee is due at the beginning of the class for new participants.

Piano Lessons
For 162 years, the Loughborough's were one of the most prominent families in the Washington and southern Montgomery County. Nathan Loughborough was a Quaker working for the Treasury Department in Philadelphia and moved here with the government in 1800. Loughboro Road and Loughborough Lane are named after him. This program will be instructed by James H. Johnston with the Montgomery County Historical Society.

Second Fiddle – VP’s Never President
The role of the Vice President is simply to be prepared to take over if the President is unable. They also play an important role as the President of the Senate and could cast a tie breaking vote. There have been 48 VP’s in American history and many are forgotten since they never became President of the United States. College Professor, Joan Adams, will present this series.

The Better Angels of the American Civil War
Five remarkable women who made important contributions to the Union cause at various stages before, during, and after the critical years of the American Civil War. The singular actions of Clara Barton, Julia Ward Howe, Sarah Josepha Hale, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Harriet Tubman led to their prominence during the war, and launched them into successful public roles following the conflict. Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the world’s leading personality type instruments. In this two part class, we will discover the various personality types as well as assessing our own. Part one (first week) provides a better understanding of how we can better communicate with those that are different from us through taking the official assessment. In part two (second week) an explanation will be given by a certified professional as to your personality type score and how it inter-relates to others with differing types.

Monday, March 16 Nonmembers: Registrations accepted at Senior Center only. Individuals may register for themselves and one other person. When you travel with the Senior Center, you can relax and leave the driving and parking to us. Travel in the comfort of a chartered bus, equipped with restrooms. It’s a great way to meet new people or create memories with old friends. Hurry! Trips tend to sell out quickly, so don’t delay.

O Street Mansion
You won’t want to miss this hidden gem in D.C. on O Street. This Museum offers a unique experience exploring rooms full of historical artifacts as well as manuscripts, musical instruments, and rare studio recordings. There are 100 themed rooms and over 70 secret doors. The museum is a historic site on The African American Heritage Trail as well as a 20th Century Civil Rights site by Cultural Tourism DC. Enjoy a delicious continental breakfast and engage in a short discussion to learn the history and philosophy of the mansion. Museum is large and requires extensive walking. The Carole King Musical, “Beautiful,” tells the Tony and Grammy Award winning true story of her rise to stardom. Dr. Wilfredo Gamez, MD specializes in the fields of aging and addiction medicine. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of Peake ReLeaf, a medical cannabis dispensary in Rockville, and his current research interest focuses on incorporating medical cannabis into addiction therapies to decrease relapse rates and cravings for opioids. The Senior SNAP and Hunger Outreach Program will help eligible seniors apply for SNAP (food stamps) benefits, as well as learn about a number of other available programs and resources in Montgomery County that are designed to help residents who struggle to make ends meet. • Our programs require advanced planning and purchase of supplies to provide a quality experience, therefore requests for a refund or credit must be submitted in writing to the program supervisor at least seven days in advance of the start of the program. Less than seven days prior to the start of a program, requests for a refund or credit will be considered if accompanied by proper medical or other requested documentation. Proration and administrative fees apply.
If you would like to contribute, you may send a check, “add up” on your registration form or donate online at www. rockvillemd.gov/registration.
• If staff cancels a class, refunds will automatically be issued. Cash and checks under the amount of $15 for programs will be put onto the patrons account as a credit if classes are cancelled. Checks will not be mailed with an amount less than $15.
• The following administrative fees are charged for issuing a refund or credit: Adults 60+ programs $15; swim $15.
Transfers:
• Requests are subject to availability. Requests must be in writing. Registrations cannot be transferred from one registrant to another due to wait lists.
Program Assistance Fund:
• Tax-deductible donations to this fund are accepted at the front desk of the senior center or through the check off box on the registration form.

Participation in the program may be a hazardous activity. Participant should not participate in the program unless participant is in good physical shape and is medically able.
