Mudskippers Pottery is a family-run professional ceramics studio that specializes in after-school education. We strive to offer everyone inspiration as well as technical instruction. We are a community-based studio created to provide an inclusive environment for artists of all levels, and we are passionate about providing an affordable ceramics education. At Mudskippers Pottery, we are enriching our communities with an explosion of creativity!
Celebrate all kinds of pottery while you learn the foundations of hand-built pottery with pinch pots, coil pots and slabs, using stoneware clay. We’ll also paint some ready made bisqueware just like in a paint your own pottery studio! We will keep your imagination busy from start to finish by modeling clay creations, drawing and games. Pottery must be fired in kiln and will be returned to the camp two weeks after camp ends. This is a handbuilding camp. Potters wheels will not be used.
Sweets and Serve Ware

Cupcake Wars 2.0
Cupcakes have been the baked item of choice for several years now, and the Tiny Chefs’ version of Cupcake Wars has been so popular, we had to create a “sequel” to introduce new recipes and competitions. In Cupcake Wars 2.0, we've gathered cupcake recipes that double as breakfast foods or drinks (what?!), and explore regional and international cuisines. On top of that, we've included savory cupcakes! In chess camp, campers play and learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights)! We’ve taught 100,000, children including national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn and have fun! Campers are grouped by skill level. Activities include learning the rules, openings, tactics, endgames, studying master games and playing games against other students. Campers will take breaks for snacks and fresh air, and have lunch and recess from noon–1 p.m. At the end of the week, campers receive a T-shirt and chess set. All equipment provided.

CSI Forensic Science Lab
Forensic science is the application of scientific knowledge to questions of civil and criminal law. Students will learn modern forensic methods and use scientific methods to solve crime scenes. Students will be introduced to the laboratory techniques of criminal-investigators and learn what methods are used in the criminal investigation process. This course will focus on collection and analysis of crime-scene evidence such as serology, toxicology, entomology and trace evidence, and explore lab-analysis techniques, such as photography, chromatography, DNA analysis, fingerprinting, reconstruction of crime scenes, analyzing the speed and velocity of a car accident, and hair and footprint analysis.

Learn to skateboard or improve your skills. Join Rockville’s crew as you learn to push, ride, ollie, kick-flip, grind and drop-in. Skate park etiquette and safety is a priority. Skaters must bring a skateboard, helmet, water and lunch. All other padding is optional. After a great skateboarding session, cool off for a few hours at the Rockville pool. Our creative, age-appropriate curriculums will introduce and improve skills, including, passing and shooting while campers learn the game, interact with local players, and learn the values of teamwork, diversity, responsibility and sportsmanship. After playing on the court or field cool off with a daily dip in the pool at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center. This camp is weather dependent. Any missed dates will be made up on Friday.

Camp
Information and Details
Camp information will be emailed to you 10 days prior to each camp week/session. This will include, a list of what to bring to camp each day, a list of what not to bring, details on swimming and field trips (if applicable) and links to mandatory forms. Information and forms may also be accessed at www.rockvillemd.gov/camps. Please email camps@rockvillemd.gov with any questions.
Camp Locations and Closures
Camp locations may be changed or canceled due to facility availability and MCPS scheduling. Families will be notified of program changes.
Most camps will be held rain or shine. On Code Red or Heat Advisory Days, outdoor programs will provide low-key activities, water breaks and rest periods. In the event of severe weather or other emergency alternative locations will be provided when possible.
If programs are changed or canceled, parents will be contacted via email or phone. Please call 240-314-5023 for prerecorded information.
Age Requirement
Participation in most programs is based on child’s age as of Sept. 1, 2024 (per MCPS).
Holidays
Camp will not be held on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth and Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independance Day. Fees have been prorated.
Photos
The department reserves the right to photograph and video programs and participants for publicity purposes.

Summer Camps Withdrawal Policy
To withdrawal from a summer camp program, email your request to registration@rockvillemd.gov

No refunds except for medical reasons. Proper documentation will be required.
Requests to transfer from one camp to another are subject to space availability. All requests must be received in writing. Email requests to registration@rockvillemd.gov.
Are You a Resident?
City residents are those individuals residing within the city’s corporate tax limits and therefore pay the resident rate for camp fees. Verify your residency to determine your program fee. Do not assume that a Rockville mailing address is within the city’s corporate tax limits. Proof of residency may be requested via driver’s license or water bill.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Youth Recreation Fund For Camps
A limited amount of scholarships are available for qualified residents of the City of Rockville. The participant must pay a minimum of $15 toward each program fee, unless otherwise specified. The fund will cover up to $175 per child per camp week or session. Any remaining balance must be paid by the participant. There is a $1,000 maximum per child, per camp season as funds permit.

Documents Needed for Financial Assistance:
Participants must provide proof of Rockville residency (driver’s license or water bill) and the award letter from Maryland Dept. of Human Resources, Montgomery County Dept. of Social Services, or other overarching organization verifying eligibility for any one of the following:
• Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA)
• Food Stamps (SNAP)
• Medical Assistance
• Transitional Emergency Medical and Housing Assistance (TEMHA)
• Working Parents Assistance Program (WPA)
• Free and reduced meal services (FARMs).
• Proof participant resides in a shelter: Letter from shelter must be dated within a month of registration.
• Proof of Rental Assistance: Public Housing, HUD Section 8 Housing, HOC (MPDU not accepted for applicants purchasing a home).
• Supplemental Security Income: Document must be dated within one year of application. All award letters must indicate eligibility period and names of household members receiving benefits.

Registrations received prior to Feb. 15 will not be processed until registration begins.

PAYMENT PLANS
Register early to take full advantage of the payment plan options:
Feb. 15–March 14
This payment plan divides the amount due into four payments. A portion of the fees are due at the time of registration with the remaining payments due on March 15, April 15 and May 15.
March 15–April 14
This payment plan divides the amount due into three payments. A portion of the fees are due at the time of registration with the remaining payments due on April 15 and May 15.
April 15–May 14
This payment plan divides the amount due into two payments. A portion of the fees are due at the time of registration with the remaining payments due on May 15.
Payment Plans are not available after May 15.
A Visa or MasterCard is necessary to access the payment plan option. This option must be selected at the time of registration.
Outstanding balances after June 1, could result in your child being withdrawn from the program.
