3 Injured in vehicle Accident Near Calvin

Just before press time we learned that Sue Edwards is still in critical condition but she is stable at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Please keep her and Coy in your prayers. Three People were hospitalized following a twovehicle accident near Calvin on Sunday, September 14th. Passenger Sue Edwards, 77, Holdenville, was transported by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries. The driver, Coy Edwards, 80 was not injured. The driver of the second vehicle, Jennifer Mayo, 39, Wilburton, was transported by Hughes County EMS to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries. One passenger, Wyma Mayo, 59, was also transported by Hughes County EMS to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition with multiple injuries. A 2-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was treated and released at the scene.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report, the accident occurred at 11:56 a.m. on US Highway 75 and EW 139 Road approximately two miles north of Calvin. This report states that vehicle one, a 2008 4-door Cadillac driven by Edwards, was north bound on US 75. The second vehicle, a 2014 Kia 4-door, driven by Mayo, was southbound on US 75. Vehicle one failed to yield while making a left turn onto County Road 139 and was struck by vehicle two on the passenger side. Vehicle one then departed the roadway to the left, pinning passenger one of vehicle two for approximately 30 minutes Three Allen 4-H members had entries at the Oklahoma State Fair. Congratulations before being freed by the st Holdenville Fire Depart- to Will Kaminski for placing 1 with his Entomology entry. Also entering were Abbey Strong in the Junior Scrapbooking division and Gehrig Strong entered in Junior ment. The cause of the accident Art, Pencil. was due to an improper left turn. Safety belts were in use by all drivers and passengers. Airbags were equipped and deployed in both vehicles. The weather was cloudy at the time of the accident on the two-lane asphalt road.

Bonfire & Pep Rally

A bonfire and pep rally will be held next Thursday, September 18th, at the Allen football field parking lot. The festivities start at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out a support the Mustangs as they prepare to take on the Alex Longhorns on Friday night.

Masonic Dinner to benefit Big John Howry The Allen Masonic Lodge will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, October 5th, to benefit John Howry. Mr. Howry was injured recently in a farm accident. The meal of chili, beans, cornbread and desserts, will be served from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the lodge building on West Broadway. Donations will be accepted.

Allen 6th grade student, Kylie Nemecek, won Reserve Grand Champion Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Jr. High Point Horse at the recent 2014 Pontotoc County Free Fair.

Senior players on the Allen Lady Mustang softball team will be ending 2014-15 fast pitch season this next week. Their last home game will be Monday, September 22nd, as they take on the New Lima Falconettes. Pictured here are Tessa Black, Savannah Brown, Meagan Beavert, Jessi Merriman and Brittnie Johnson.
