3 Injured in vehicle Accident Near Calvin

Just before press time we learned that Sue Edwards is still in critical condition but she is stable at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Please keep her and Coy in your prayers.

Three People were hospitalized following a twovehicle accident near Calvin on Sunday, September 14th.

Passenger Sue Edwards, 77, Holdenville, was transported

by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries. The driver, Coy Edwards, 80 was not injured.

The driver of the second vehicle, Jennifer Mayo, 39, Wilburton, was transported

by Hughes County EMS to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries. One passenger, Wyma Mayo, 59, was also transported by Hughes County EMS to OU Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition with multiple injuries.

A 2-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was treated and released at the scene.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report, the accident occurred at 11:56 a.m. on US Highway 75 and EW 139 Road approximately two miles north of Calvin.

This report states that vehicle one, a 2008 4-door Cadillac driven by Edwards, was north bound on US 75. The second vehicle, a 2014 Kia 4-door, driven by Mayo, was southbound on US 75.

Vehicle one failed to yield while making a left turn onto County Road 139 and was struck by vehicle two on the passenger side. Vehicle one then departed the roadway to the left, pinning passenger one of vehicle two for approximately 30 minutes Three Allen 4-H members had entries at the Oklahoma State Fair. Congratulations before being freed by the st Holdenville Fire Depart- to Will Kaminski for placing 1 with his Entomology entry. Also entering were Abbey Strong in the Junior Scrapbooking division and Gehrig Strong entered in Junior ment.

The cause of the accident Art, Pencil. was due to an improper left turn. Safety belts were in use by all drivers and passengers.

Airbags were equipped and deployed in both vehicles.

The weather was cloudy at the time of the accident on the two-lane asphalt road.

Bonfire & Pep Rally

A bonfire and pep rally will be held next Thursday, September 18th, at the Allen football field parking lot. The festivities start at 7:00 p.m.

Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out a support the Mustangs as they prepare to take on the Alex Longhorns on Friday night.

Masonic Dinner to benefit Big John Howry The Allen Masonic Lodge will be hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, October 5th, to benefit John Howry. Mr. Howry was injured recently in a farm accident.

The meal of chili, beans, cornbread and desserts, will be served from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the lodge building on West Broadway.

Donations will be accepted.

It’s all about creating a more successful chapter.”

C ountry Comments

Jackson Lawson has been my friend for as long as I can remember. He was one of the finest Christian gentlemen I ever knew.

The first time I met him was at the Gerty Community Center. That day I played dominoes with Jackson, Preacher Miller and one other that I can’t remember.

Winning or losing didn’t matter to Jackson. He had fun playing and always had a smile.

In over a century of living he touched many lives and mine was one of them.

His life will not be remembered for how long he lived but for how he lived.

Recently Wayne Bullard, Kerry Caldwell and myself had a great visit. I believe if the three of us were in charge of the country we could correct all of the problems within a week.

Wayne was my mother’s favorite columnist (yes, that includes me). She wanted the Advocate every week to see what he had written.

The following Monday evening she would share his comments with the ladies at Domino Night.

Dayna and I will never forget the evening we dropped an Advocate and a Tribune by her house.

She was flipping thru the pages and then out of the blue looked up at us and said me and Wayne Bullard are the best parts of your papers.

I am sure it just slipped her mind that Dayna and I also write a column. .

The kids who were “cool” in middle school aren’t so cool anymore. That’s what researchers found in a new study examining the social status and behavior of 175 young people, ages 13 to 23, over a decade. Teens who impressed their friends in middle school because of their daring, sometimes rebellious behavior ultimately developed more social problems later on.

The study tracked male and female adolescents beginning at age 13, asking them about what researchers called “pseudomature” behaviors, such as whether they had “made out” with boyfriends or girlfriends, snuck into a movie theater without paying, or stolen inexpensive items. Researchers also examined whether they sought out the most attractive classmates as friends. Kids who engaged in these behaviors were often rated as very popular by their friends.

When the subjects reached their early 20s, though, researchers followed up, asking similar questions. It turned out the popularity of kids who engaged in pseudomature behaviors in middle school faded quickly as they grew older. By early adulthood their peers rated them as poor at handling friendships and romantic relationships. Worse, they were 22 percent more likely than others to commit serious crimes, and 45 percent more likely to experience problems related to alcohol or drug use.

Published online in Child Development in June, the research suggests an early drive to gain popularity eventually leads some adolescents to more extreme, unhealthy behaviors. Kids who grew up well-adjusted—even if they were unpopular while younger—probably benefitted from time spent not impressing peers but developing healthy friendships with them.

It sounds as though the baker wouldn’t even sell a cupcake to a lesbian, the photographer refused to take senior pictures of a teenage homosexual, and Chick-fil-A refused to sell its delicious waffle fries to a gay couple.

As is common with today’s secular media, facts are often an inconvenient obstacle to their liberal agenda. These cases were no exception. In truth, Stutzman has hired several homosexual employees throughout her 40-year career and had several homosexual customers. She had been serving Rob Ingersoll, a man in a homosexual relationship, for almost 10 years. Stutzman said Ingersoll would come in regularly with ideas for bouquets for his partner. Ingersoll and Stutzman had become good friends who spoke to one another on a first-name basis. It wasn’t until he asked her to celebrate his wedding that she had to say no to one of his requests. Stutzman said when she told Ingersoll he seemed to understand, and the two hugged before he left her shop.

Once he got home, Ingersoll took to social media with his story. It didn’t take long for the state attorney general to get wind of the story and file suit against Stutzman. Shortly after, the ACLU also filed suit.

Not content to just pursue her business, the attorney general and the ACLU also filed a suit against her personally, putting her house and personal assets at risk.

Wearing the new scarlet I isn’t enough for Stutzman.

Her price may be her 40year career, life savings and home.

Cathy experienced similar ire. He was asked by Allan Blume, writer for Baptist Press, about his support of

traditional marriage. He answered, “Guilty as charged.”

He went on to say, “We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit … We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that.

We intend to stay the course.

We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.” Or so he thought.

Days after the article ran in Baptist Press, homosexual activists organized a boycott, and politicians spoke openly that they would do everything in their power to keep Chickfil-A out of their towns. The culture’s collective anger was in response to company policies of “intolerance.” It was fueled by the company leaders not celebrating homosexual marriage.

And the trend continues.

Dr. Ben Carson, who came to national attention after his speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, wrote in his book, One Nation, that he was invited to speak during a commencement ceremony at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins School of Education.

He decided to withdraw from both engagements because of controversy surrounding his views on traditional marriage. What were his intolerant views? During an interview with Sean Hannity, Carson had said, “Marriage is between a man and a woman. No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they are. They don’t get to change the definition.”

Because he refused to give any room for the redefinition of marriage, Carson was forced to publicly wear a scarlet I. In his book, he recounts having

a discussion with homosexual leaders at Johns Hopkins before he withdrew from the commencement ceremonies.

He said he learned two things during the experience. First was the fact that bestiality is particularly abhorrent to the gay community. He said that if he had known that, he would not have brought the topic up at all.

Second, he said, “I asked if there was any position a person could take that did not include approval of gay marriage that would be acceptable to the gay community. After some consideration, I was told that there really was no other acceptable position.” (Emphasis added.)

In headline after headline, Christians are denounced as bigoted and intolerant not because they speak out against the rights of homosexuals to be in a relationship, nor because they seek violence against people different than themselves. They are being forced to choose between violating their convictions in order to keep their businesses, and standing for what they believe in, only to lose everything.

By the end of The Scarlet Letter, Prynne changed the ugly, rough letter into something beautiful by adorning it with gold embroidery. She wore the mark with pride.

When visitors came and saw how she served people and how the town respected her, they believed the A was a mark of leadership. Hawthorne says in the book the A’s meaning changed from “adultery” to “able.”

It is time for Christians to begin wearing the scarlet I without shame or blushing.

Like Prynne, believers should strive to serve those who seek to hurt. They must exemplify love, especially to those who spew hate. With time, the scarlet I could gain a new meaning: integrity.

Conviction Costs

In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s magnum opus, The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne is forced to wear a scarlet A on her clothing as a public declaration of her sin, adultery. Modern America has a new scarlet letter – I, for intolerant. Intolerance is the great cultural sin of our day, and many are forced to wear the scarlet I not because they were objectively wrong, but because they stood for their beliefs.

Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado, was asked to make a cake for a same sex wedding. He declined for religious reasons. For his intolerance, the state of Colorado is requiring Phillips and his employees to attend sensitivity seminars. Phillips must also submit quarterly reports to the Civil Rights Commission proving he has not turned away customers based on their sexual orientation. Refusal to comply with the penance for his intolerance will land him in jail.

Elaine Huguenin, owner of Elaine Photography in New Mexico, was asked to photograph a same sex commitment ceremony. (New Mexico does not recognize same sex marriage.) She declined for religious reasons. For her intolerance she was fined $6,637. The New Mexico Supreme Court told her that participating in the ceremony, even if she disagreed with it, was her “price for citizenship.”

Baronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene’s Flowers in Washington, was asked to make a floral arrangement for a long-time customer’s same sex wedding ceremony. She declined for religious reasons. For her intolerance, if she loses her case, Stutzman can be forced to pay over $5,000, write a letter of apology to be published in her local newspaper, lose her business, and (because she is also being sued personally) lose her home.

Dan Cathy, chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, said in an interview that his family supports traditional marriage. For his intolerance, people across the country boycotted the fast food chain, and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee all stated the chain was not welcome in their respective cities.

Threads of Life Books

It seems as if I have always known how to read. I can’t actually know when I learned to read. I think it was because I had older brothers and sisters who came in from school and studied round the dining room table. I hung out there and observed all of them studying and working on lessons.

When I had my sixth birthday, which was in December (there was no kindergarten in those days) I knew it was

time for me to start to school.

Also in those days, there was no early enrollment. You just went to school and went to the classroom you were in and the teacher entered your name in the enrollment book.

The day I had my sixth birthday, (in December) I went to school with my brothers and sisters. They would not let me enroll and told me to come back in the fall and enroll. We lived a mile from the

school and the school would not let me go home by myself, so they sent me to the second grade where my brother was.

I was crying so they sent me to the fourth grade where one of my sisters was. I cried in that room also so they sent me to the sixth grade where another sister was. I kept crying so they sent for a sister in the eighth grade and she came for me. I kept crying because they would not let me start to school. I had a sister in the junior class and they sent for her. She took me to her class

and I kept crying, so they let her take me home. Now I tell people I went through all the grades in school in one day, which was really true.

We always had an abundance of books at our house.

I had a cousin who had three sons and when we visited them, we came home with books they no longer needed.

We had boxes of those books in our storage room and that is where you could always find me on a rainy day or any other time I did not have chores to do.

It is very hard for me to get rid of a book. My bookcases are full, storage shelves in my storeroom are stacked with books. Some of the books I have, I cherish. I have all the books that Alfalfa Bill Murray wrote. One of the books is Oklahoma History According to Bill Murray. I was a sophomore in high school when he campaigned for governor. I was in the crowd when he came to my hometown to make a campaign speech.

Really, I would like to have a book sale. I need to do it and perhaps I will when I have the time.

Gladys Eileen (Eubank) Thompson, 98, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in the Duncan Regional Hospital. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Randy Southerland officiating.

Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.

G ladys was born November 28, 1915 in Stone County, Arkanasas, near Bellmore, the first of four children of Thad H. and Elsie (Halliburton) Eubank.

The Eubanks and Halliburtons moved to Oklahoma in 1916, settling in the area around Allen. She attended school in that area and graduated from Gerty High School. On July 21, 1934 Gladys married

Claud Thompson, and to this union three sons were born, Claude C. “Bob�, James Thad “J.T.�, and Harold Wayne Thompson.

Claud was an employee of the Sun Oil Company and in 1954 the family moved to the Comanche area where he worked as an operator at the local refinery. Gladys was primarily a homemaker and caregiver; an avid gardener, she was a devoted member of the Comanche Garden Club, the Duncan Garden Club, and the Water Garden Society of Southern Oklahoma. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Allen Chapter, and for many years of the Audubon Society, and a member of Christian Life Cathedral.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claud, (1975); her sons Harold Wayne (1993),

J.T. (2012); and three brothers, Paul Caleb (1930), Rollen Harold (1943), and Denmon Lee Eubank (1998).

She is survived by her eldest son, Claude C. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Theresa Thompson Mertons, of Sausalito, California, and Chad Wayne Thompson and his wife Teresa, Kilgore, Texas; and two greatgrandchildren, Demi and Devin Thompson, of Texas.

Also surviving her are two step-grandchildren, Sheila Wikerson and A.L. (Troi) Miller, of North Carolina, and their families; and three devoted nieces and their husbands, Sandra Thornton and Ray, Wilda Pipkin and Donnie, and Sheilah Elliot and David, all of Allen, Oklahoma, Many cherished friends will mourn her passing.

You never need to wait on an invitation to come to our church services, but it’s been awhile since I posted the Sunday meeting times. Sunday School begins at 10:00 A.M., and the Worship Service begins at 11:00.  Discipleship Training classes meet on Sunday evenings at 5:00.   Next Sunday, September 21st, we will have the fellowship meal after the morning worship service. Then on September 27th, Movie Night begins at 6:00. Also, See You at the Pole day is scheduled for September 24th at the flag pole at the area schools.  Contrary to what comments made by various commentators may say, Question from the Bible Trivia section of this week’s church bulletin: Who was the only Englishman to become a Pope? Answer: Anthony Breakspear, who was Adrian IV from 1154 to 1159. Ramona Cross produces the bulletins, and she certainly does a nice job on them.

J oyce Searcy sang the beautiful song “Oh What a Savior!� as the special music selection this week. Everyone who has heard Joyce sing knows what a

good voice she has, but it occurred to me Sunday that one of the few times Joyce stands still is when she sings a special at church! Rev. Karch’s sermon on faith and works was based on James 2:14-20. Sharing the gospel message and helping those who need help is the basis for the ministry of every Christian. Christians need to first get their minds and hearts in the right place. Habitual sinfulness will not enter

the Kingdom of Heaven.  After we meet Jesus, we need to allow him to make a difference in our lives, and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to help us grow as Christians. God knows what is in our hearts and will honor our honest efforts to learn from Bible teachings. He will also honor our efforts as we try to do what Jesus wants us to do.                  Â

One Pharmacist’s View

In last Sunday’s Oklahoman I read that the rate of poverty among our children is up 17.5%. This indicates that things must be worse than they seem for I have been surreptitiously looking around at the children and this problem. Of course I have to be discreet scientifically spying on children now-a-days or people might brand me some sort of oddball or even worse.

I was at the OU ballgame in Norman Saturday night and several kids were in my section. I looked them over. All were well dressed in expensive Nike shoes, deluxe brand jeans and shorts and looked real prosperous. Most were eating about twenty bucks worth of snacks at a time. But that was in Norman.

What about our kids? We live in a fairly low-income area. However, a quick scanning of our schoolyard

Todays Children have it rough revealed the same things I saw up in prosperous Norman. At a local ballgame I observed or own chubby little well-dressed kids looking prosperous.

All of them eating—all the time. Where is this poverty, I wondered? And I continue to wonder a lot about this “children’s” poverty.

Other than an allowance (charity), don’t kids make about, uh, nothing a week? I have checked on this and the kids I quizzed all reported back they were unemployed and not looking. Even if they did they wouldn’t find much— especially anything that might pay well. I suppose this only exacerbates their already poverty-stricken plight. It was a worrisome result. Who wants to hire an 8 year old anyway?

Light from God’s Word Light From God’s Word Can we know we are saved or must we always be in doubt, not sure if we are saved or not? Some people say they know they are saved because they feel it in their heart. Has God told us that we will feel differently when we are saved? While believing we are saved will certainly affect the way we feel, is how we feel proof that we are saved?

There are examples of people in the Scriptures being misled by their feelings. These examples should cause us to doubt that our feeling can be trusted to guide us into the truth. One example is Saul who was later known as the Apostle Paul. Before his conversion he persecuted Christians. Later, he wrote, “I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.”

He assures us that when we believe in the name of the Son of God we can know that we are saved.

Of course, our belief or our faith must move us to obedience or, as James says, our faith is dead. “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James 2:26)

Another worrisome problem I read about stalking our children is hunger. The story said about 30% of our school kids go to bed hungry. Many are unable to do their homework because they are chronically mal-nourished. This is something that I can personally sympathize with. This curse (hunger at bedtime) has dogged me most of my life. As a child, coming in from school I was always famished. I would beg my mom for food but she would say something callous like, “I’m afraid you’ll ruin your supper. Go out and do your chores. Go milk a cow or something.” When supper finally did roll around my siblings (and me) would be so hungry we would attack the food like ravenous animals causing us to draw even more criticism from our insensitive parents— about our lack of manners.

No wonder I made bad grades.

G oing to bed hungry?

Don’t talk to me about nocturnal starvation! If you wanted something to eat at bedtime in my boyhood home you had to steal it—which we sometimes did—right out of our own kitchen. If caught we would not only be shamed, we would have to brush our teeth again. We did have a before school meal of sorts in my house—it was called breakfast. Usually a serving of cholesterol infested eggs, artery plugging gravy and heavy triglyceride producing biscuits. I won’t even talk about the platter of greasy bacon mom set out for us. Yes, I remember being a poverty-stricken child and I hope I never see one like they talked about in the Daily Oklahoman.

Whatever the 17.5% increase in poverty is supposed to mean I know this:

We have had rain this week, so the grass is growing and the wheat can be planted. This has been a good summer, with few days of heat and plenty of rain. God is good!

Our quartet sang “We’ll Understand it Better By and By.” A new song for many of our young people. But a song that many of us old ones have heard through the years. Many things are hard to understand these days.

We can only pray and leave it in God’s hands.

Several of our women went to the Ladies Retreat in Oklahoma City this

weekend. Our speaker was Sue Helmer. whose love of God was obvious. She gave us practical advice in a humorous presentation.

The music director, Sheri Gilliland, led us in worship throughout the two sessions.

Bro. Larry’s message was taken from Genesis 50:15-21 and entitled “Guilt Meets Grace.” The brothers of Joseph were aware of what they had done wrong.

Their guilt was very realthey were living with what they had done. They were fearful of the consequences of their actions Joseph had

unlimited power to do with them what he wanted.

There was nothing they could do to make things right. They had nothing to offer Joseph. They did the only thing the truly guilty can do. They sought mercy.

It is disturbing that even

in this they were less than honest.

Their fate was now in the hands of the one they had wronged.

Joseph’s brothers didn’t really understand the nature of their judge. He loved them, in spite of their hatred

for him. He wanted nothing more than to be reconciled with them. In this way, he is a “type” of Christ. Their sins are not counted against them. Mercy is extended to them. Love triumphs and reconciliation takes place.

Calvin’s Wesley Bain throws no-hitter Calvin’s triumphant victory over Wilson symbolized the team’s love for the game. Wesley Bain, again, threw an unbelievable no hitter against the Wilson Tigers. Wesley pitched three innings sending Wilson into the gutter. Bain struck out five and allowed six base runners.

Calvin Public Schools hosted an open house September 12th from 6 P.M. to 7.P.M. Promising students were offered ice cream if they brought their parents . . . the ultimate bribe.

Classrooms were decorated with activities the students had partaken in over the last four weeks.

This little function is for the parents, so they can gaze upon their bundle of joy’s hard (and impressive) work. Parents were able to meet the teachers and discuss the learning activities that take place in the 2014-2015 school year.

The Allen Material Girls Quilt Guild have donated this beautiful quilt to the Allen Academic Teams. The quilt will be raffled off to raise money to assist the teams as they travel to meets and pay the required entry fees. The guild members that were able to participate were Jo Powell, Bonnie May, Linda Tatum, Nita Bershear, Rhonda Kirby, Mary Dooley, Paula Nelson, Danielle O’Daniel, Donna Arnold, Carolyn Sanders and Pat Cotton.

Gaines was on a maxium pitch-count (50 pitches) and had to be very efficient to work four innings. She is still a bit rusty - but will be a major weapon as the playoffs approach. “I am sure glad to have her back,� Coach Caldwell said. “She’s not 100 percent yet but getting out there and getting in four innings was a big step for her.�

On Tuesday, Allen faced the very tough Roff Lady Tigers and came out on the short end of a 4-0 final score.

Faith Caldwell was the starting pitcher. She worked for three innings and allowed three runs before being replaced in the circle

by Abbey Gaines, who allowed one run down the stretch.

Looking ahead, Allen plays at Vanoss on Thursday in varsity softball action against the Lady Wolves.

O n M o n d a y, C o a c h Caldwell’s squad will play their last home game of the falls. They will host the New Lima Falconnetes. It will be Senior Day for the 12th grade players, including First Baseman Tessa Black, Shortstop Meagan Beavert,Third Baseman Jessi Merriman, and Center Fielder Savannah Brown.

The remaining game on the regular-season schedule will be a Sept. 23 contest at Kiowa.

The Lady Mustangs now know their assignment for the upcoming Class A district tournament. They will be at Stonewall in a 3-team event that also includes Stringtown. The doubleelimination event will conclude no later than Saturday, September 27. One of the three teams will win the district championship and move on to a regional tournament the following weekend. “I feel good about our playoff situation,� said Coach Caldwell. “I knew they would send us to either Stonewall or Roff, so we’ve been prepared for this for a while. With Abbey back for us, it gives us a chance to win. We are also cutting down on our errors. We’ve played much better defense the last half of the season and are down to about 2.5 errors a game. It won’t be easy at Stonewall, but I think we have a chance to go over there and give them some trouble - I really do.�

Coach Kenny Deaton’s AHS squad is projected to finish second in the District B-2’s final standings. The only team favored over Allen is Alex.

The Longhorns are ranked sixth in Class B while the Mustangs are rated No. 7.

Having the game in Allen will certainly be a bonus for the Mustangs. This home field advantage might be the slight edge Coach Deaton’s team needs to knock off Alex. The reason this game is so important is that the winner will be in the driver’s seat in the district race.

“They are pretty good,” the Allen coach said of the Longhorns. “It should be a great game. They are well-coached, have a good quarterback and a good offensive line! I really feel whoever takes care of the football, commits the fewest mistakes, will win the game. I think we are very capable of doing that. ‘Saw Them Off ’ – that’s our motto this week.”

Last week, the Mustangs improved to 2-0 on the season with an impressive 48-0 over the Macomb Hornets. The visitors from Allen scored 12 points in the first quarter, 22 points in the second quarter and finished off Macomb on the mercy rule with 14 points in the third quarter.

The stat sheet reflected the one-sided domination by the Mustangs. AHS had 10 first downs to 5 by the Hornets. The total offense was even more glaring as Allen had 180 yards to minus 110

by Macomb.

Coach Deaton’s squad rushed for 180 yards and passed for 52 yards. Meanwhile, Macomb gained a total of 5 yards in passing but lost 110 yards on running plays.

Balance was the key for the Mustangs in the rushing game. Dakota Nickell led with 3 carries for 49 yards.

Justin Deaton was second with 6 carries for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dalton James was next with 4 carries for 33 yards and two TDs. Colten Browning had 6 carries for 27 yards and Colten Frederick ran 3 times for 16 yards.

Three other Mustangs added carries in the win.

Joshua Pierce had 1 carry for 9 yards and a touchdown. Garrett Wallis added 1 carry for 7 yards. Colby Eaker rounded out the list with 1 carry for 3 yards.

In the passing game, Justin Deaton completed 3-of10 passes for 52 yards with no interceptions. Deaton connected with Dakota

Nickell twice for 39 yards.

The senior QB also linked up with Dalton James once for 13 yards.

Auston Hamilton was a one-man wrecking crew on defense. The Mustang standout recorded a teamhigh 11 tackles. Also deserving of praise was Chris Nelson, who scored a defensive touchdown with a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Allen got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on a great defensive play.

The Hornet QB was sacked in the end zone by Colten Frederick. The play was for 15-yard loss and was a safety – giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.

Allen pushed the lead to 10-0 on Dalton James’ 1-yard touchdown run.

James also added the conversion run.

Macomb suffered a second safety in the first quarter.

Hornet player Blake Seals fumbled out of bounds in the end zone for a safety.

The mistakes gave the Mustangs a 12-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Allen put together three more touchdowns to open a commanding 34-0 cushion at halftime.

Dakota Nickell cut through the defense on a 46-yard scoring run. Justin Deaton followed with the conversion run to make it 20-0.

Deaton later added a 3-yard touchdown run on a keeper to make it 26-0.

The Mustangs went back to Dalton James for the next tally. The running back scored on a 14-yard run. He also tacked on the conversion run to make it 34-0.

After intermission, the

Mustangs scored another touchdown. AHS defender Chris Nelson recovered a Hornet fumble in end zone.

Garrett Wallis ran in the conversion play to make it run 42-0.
