Elementary Enrollment Underway
Meet & Greet Tuesday, August 16
For new students in the Allen school District, enrollment will begin August 1, 2016. The elementary office is open from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. New students will be required to submit a copy of: birth certificate, social security card, current immunization record, proof of residency, and CDIB card (if applicable). The elementary and middle school will host a “meet and greet” night on Tuesday, August 16th, from 4:30 to 6:30. This will allow the students and parents to meet this year’s teacher and locate their room. Students may bring their school supplies at this time. The staff of Allen School is looking forward to the 2016-17 school year.

lethal use of force to use. The goal is to use the gun to help keep the officer and citizens safer. They will receive extensive training on the use of the weapon. Chief Sanford chose the devices, which can deliver a 50,000-volt shock as they subdue aggressive people, over a pepper spray gun. There was a lone bid on the property placed on sealed bid last month. The bid for the amount of $1,500 was accepted. The council was informed of employee Coy West’s retirement. Mr. West was an outstanding worker and took much pride in his work and worked very hard to make the cemetery a place where Allen citizens could be proud The town council would like to extend a big thanks to Coy for all
of his years of hard work. We are sure now in his spare time he will drop by and tell Nub Rinehart and Doug Stinson what they are doing wrong. Thanks Coy and we hope you get to feeling better. On that

Allen High School Enrollment Begins Next Week
Allen students entering the 7th and 8th grades will need to enroll at the high school office next Tuesday, August 9th, between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Those entering the 7th grade will need to have verification of having received the TDAP vaccine. F reshmen and sophomore students will register Wednesday, the 10th; and Allen junior and seniors will be enrolled on Thursday. Again, the office will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. New students, entering the Allen Schools for the first time, may register any of those days and should bring with them verification of residency, their birth certificate, Social Security card, shot record, and their CDIB card if applicable. Enrollment paperwork is currently available for pick up at the high school office. This may be completed and returned at the student’s time of registering.
Girls Physicals Aug 4
Athletic physicals will be given free of charge to students planning to play sports for Allen High School during the 2016-17 school year. Lady Mustangs are asked to report at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday, August 4th, to the high school for their examinations; the boys’ physical times will be set at a later date. Permission forms, requiring the signatures of parents/ guardians, are available on-line or currently in the high school office, Monday thru Thursday.
Masonic Breakfast
Join the Allen Masonic Lodge for breakfast Saturday, August 6th, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., at the Lodge on West Broadway. The breakfast fund-raisers are held the first Saturday of each month with a menu of sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and coffee. The meal will be served free of charge but donations will be accepted and greatly appreciated.
Hadleigh is trying to teach her mother, Allen Fire Department volunteer Shayna Ross, how to handle a fire hose as they water the Allen softball field. If you are interested in becoming a firefighter, please contact the Allen City Hall. Your help is needed and appreciated.
