Message from the Mayor Welcome to the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s (RMOW) Spring/Summer Recreation Guide. As winter warms into spring, this Spring/Summer Recreation Guide is filled with exciting programs to keep you active as the days get longer. Youth Field Hockey is a new program launching for 8 to 12 year olds. Teens aged 13 to 18 will enjoy the additional day that the Youth Centre is open each week. During the summer vacation, the renowned RMOW summer camps return for kids of all ages. Kids can join for a day or a week and enjoy rock climbing, hikes through Whistler parks, and themed days with friends, old and new. There is soccer on our pitches, hockey at the arena, art with your kids at Myrtle Phillip Community Centre, fitness classes at Meadow Park Sports Centre, events and clubs at Whistler Public Library, and so much more. Planning an event, workshop or corporate training? The Spruce Grove Field House is available for summer bookings and can seat up to 100 individuals. Spruce Grove is a convenient location, just a short bus ride or bike north from Whistler Village, and surrounded by green fields adjacent to Lost Lake Park. Make sure you come by Meadow Park Sports Centre this spring to see the newly opened expansion to the public cardio room and stretching room. The expansion adds 138 square metres of space to the popular facility and significantly increases access to equipment. A donation of $400,000 from the Community Foundation of Whistler’s (CFOW) Emerald Foundation supported the expansion. Thank you to the CFOW and to everyone for their patience while the construction was underway. See you on the field, at Whistler’s many parks and on the trails!
Mayor Jack Crompton
