INDUSTRY ARTICLES AND NEWS

As we discussed in last week’s newsletter TAFE NSW is working towards modified face to face delivery and undertaking risk assessments to determine if face to face delivery is appropriate given the current COVID-19 1.5m social distancing policy.

Whilst schools around the state resume to normal delivery, we must remember that TAFE NSW is different from schools and adheres to the government health guidelines set for adults and young people.

We are awaiting a student communication piece from TAFE NSW outlining further details on this; hopefully to be sent to you all over the coming weeks.

As information emerges we will keep you updated.

This week’s scratching post will be short on information around your studies but big on fun with trivia and fun animal facts to keep you entertained.

Whilst we entertain you please do rremember Teachers and Course Coordinators will be touching base regularly with learners to whom we have not heard from or who haven’t participated in adobe connect classes.

Participating is a course requirement.

HEAD TEACHER WRAP UP The team and I have been working hard and have definitely found some normality in our current blended model.

We have been working hard for new opportunities and exposure for our students to a larger variety of species in our delivery and are in talks with a variety of industry partners to increase capability of practicals skills delivery both onsite and off.

We will be excited to share our plans over the next few months as we start to resume some normality as restrictions continue to ease around the country.

Last week was a busy week for the team as we tried and navigate our way through submitting modified risks assessments for those practicals we can undertake without 1.5m social distancing measures.

If you are undertaking a practical onsite over the next month or so please ensure you adhere to the guidelines given and stay 1.5 m apart at all times.

We do not want practicals put in jeopardy because learners cannot follow simple direction and stay apart. This includes returning to your vehicles.

We continue to still receive quite a few emails about work placement hours and practicals and next courses can you please share the information you learn in the scratching post with your class mates.

Once again Don’t be afraid to reach out with any questions you may have. Remember we are here to support you through this time, TAFE NSW has support services to help you transition in this time.
