COVID-19 AND YOUR STUDIES

HEAD TEACHER WRAP UP Dear Animal Science Student
As you are aware Animal Science has moved to Adobe connect sessions and Moodle over the last few weeks. Whilst TAFE NSW has paused most training and educational delivery. There will be some exceptions to the pause. As such, we are continuing studies online using live adobe connect sessions. Links are on Moodle. We are going on two weeks break as of Good Friday 10/04/2020. We have had a lot of students asking what happens after the mid-term break. The Managing Director will be issuing weekly emails to students with any relevant updates so I encourage you all to keep an eye on your inbox as well as the TAFE NSW website. Given the current government policies on social distancing we will still be delivering theory lessons, live online for the week 27/04/2020 and beyond. TAFE NSW has been classed as an essential service and campuses will remain open for learners to access computer resources if required. J block at TAFE NSW Richmond has been set up for student use and social distancing practices are required. More advice on practical face to face delivery will be provided as it is received. Given the current circumstances the team has discussed a variety of options to help learners with the practical components of their courses. Given the practical nature of assessments we must all reset our expectations of completing as per their current schedule. Units and courses are being extended as to not disadvantage learners; we know many industry workplaces have had to reduce staff and volunteer placement.
Welcome to our first edition of the Scratching Post. Richmond Animal Sciences newsletter. We hope this newsletter finds you well and that you have been able to get onto an online lesson in the last few weeks. One of the things we wanted to do was touch base with you weekly and keep you up dated with what is happening in the section and also in industry. And also keep you up to date with TAFE NSW and the COVID-19 environment. We know that the movement to online study happened very quickly and that both the staff and students have been adapting rapidly. The section planned quite quickly and was able to offer learners what we believe is a connected and interactive method of blended delivery. We know that over the next few weeks there will be a few technical hiccups but rest assured we are here to support everyone with the transition. Please be patient with our staff as they navigate their way through to provide you with engaging lessons. We are here to answer any questions, please join us on this learning journey!! Our tips for the COVID-19 environment – set daily tasks and goals whilst you are at home to keep you grounded and your health and welfare balanced. We have been taking breaks and getting outside in the sun whilst at work and also whilst working from home to keep balance. Regards, Bec and Wayne
