Missionary Mary Housch “Marylene” (Woman of Praise)

Missionary Mary Housch was born October 16, 1938, in Sumter County, Americus, Georgia, to the late Atholene and Daniel Roberts. She peacefully departed this life on November 18, 2024.
Missionary Housch received her early childhood education in the Sumter County public school system. She graduated high school in 1956 and moved to New York with her Uncle Cephas and Aunt Curlie Montford after graduation. She went on to attend Long Island University.
She married the late Reverend Loring C. Housch on March 29, 1959 and enjoyed a fulfilling family life until his passing in August 2006.
Missionary Housch worked for the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York. During her tenure, she received numerous Dedicated Service awards. She also served as a delegate of the Service Employees International Union for approximately 20 years. She retired from the Hospital on December 31, 2005, with nearly 29 years of dedicated service.
Missionary Housch joined the Bethlehem Church of God Holiness (NYC) around 1957 under the leadership of the late Elder J. D. Burruss. In addition, she also served under Elder Walter Dogan, Elder Samuel B. Cofer, Sr., and her current pastor, Elder Michael W. Crowell.
Missionary Housch was a faithful and dedicated member many years. She served as a member of the choir where she loved to sing God’s Praise, President of the Pastor’s Aid, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Auxiliary Advisor, church announcer and a strong supporter of the Women Willing Workers Auxiliary and Sunshine Band. She loved baking for the sisters and brothers (goody bags) and worked in the kitchen faithfully. In 2008 she was licensed as a local Missionary and appointed by Elder Crowell in 2019 as the President of the Women’s Willing Workers Auxiliary of Bronx, New York.
Missionary Housch’s life was a testimony of her commitment to God, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Church, willing to serve whenever and wherever.
Her Greatest Love – “To love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind, and strength”. Her Greatest Joy – “Worship and Praise” (A gift from God) and “Helping Others”

Others
Lord, help me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way That even when I kneel to pray My prayers will be for Others.
Help me in all the work I do To ever be sincere and true And know that all I do for You Must needs be for Others.
Let self be crucified and slain And buried deep and all in vain May efforts be to rise again Unless we live for Others.

And when my work on earth is done And my new work in heaven begun May I forget the crown I’ve won While thinking still of Others.
Others, Lord, yes, others
Let this my motto be; Help me live for Others That I may be like Thee.
