June 1st For Youth: Ages 0-14 Summer Reading is here! Join us starting June 1st for our Summer Reading kick-off. This year’s theme is: It’s Showtime at Your Library!

The first 100 kids to register for summer reading on June 1st will receive a free movie ticket to Fox Lake Cinemas. Summer Reading this year will run from June 1st to July 31st. Everyone who finishes their reading logs will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a grand prize.

Our grand prizes include, but are not limited to, an American Girl doll, bikes, GameStop giftcards, Legos, Cosmo Robot, and more!

"Batgirl - Librarian by day, superhero by night. (Although, I’ve been told librarians have saved the day on a number of occasions.)"

What’s the coolest library trend you see today?

"Collaborative art. I love how it can bring a community together and beautify the library.

It is a multi-generational activity where everyone can contribute something for a common goal and create a positive memorable experience connected to the library."

What is your role at the library?

"I am a Librarian Assistant II in the Youth Services Department. I have many responsibilities but mostly I work the reference desk, help choose books for the collection, and plan and lead programs for families and children ages 0-14."

What book did you last read?

“Get Out of My Bath!, by Britta Teckentrup."

What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last 5 years?

"It’s never too late to go back to school. I’m ------ years old and working towards my Masters in Library and Information Sciences. Best decision I could ever have made."

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

"Bacon Cheeseburgers. (Or anything with bacon on it)."

FREE MEALS SUMMER

For all children 18 years and under

We are excited to announce our partnership with Northern IL Food Bank to provide fresh and free lunches to area children from June 3 - August 16. No tickets or sign-ups required. Just show up between 11:30am to 12:30pm Monday-Friday for lunch.

• The food bank provides one box lunch per child daily on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

• Lunches must be eaten in the library’s Meeting Room.

• Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver over the age of 14 while in the library.

• No lunch on Thursday, July 4, due to the Fourth of July holiday.

• We will finish each week with a FUN FRIDAY after-lunch activity planned by a community partner! Join us at 1:00pm for a fun activity or program. All FREE! So come have lunch and learn this summer at the Round Lake Area Public Library!

We offer storytimes in English and Spanish. Each storytime is created with age appropriate stories, music, movement and a craft. All of our storytimes help get your child ready to read and help build their language skills.

ACT Practice Exam

Curious about the basics when it comes to college? ISAC will be here to talk about information regarding post-secondary options and why it is important to start thinking about life after high school. NR

Take a timed ACT practice test sponsored by Huntington of Grayslake. Students should bring a non-phone calculator (ideally a graphing calculator) and a #2 pencil. Test will be on paper and begin promptly at 9:30.Tests will be graded within 24 hours. A 15-minute break is included and snacks will be provided.

Results for the exam will be provided and reviewed the following day. R

TECHNOLOGY The X-Lab is a work space where people with interests in technology and crafts can bring their creations to life. To use The X-Lab you must be 13 years or older.

Children under 13 must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older to be in The X-Lab. Use our tools, laptops, and equipment to make your ideas come to life.

HOURS: The same as the library unless the space is in use for a class. Call ahead or check our website for any closings.
