THE

LAB

The X-Lab is a workspace where people with interests in technology and crafts can bring their creations to life. It houses an array of equipment for you to use and the only associated fees are for consumable supplies (or you can bring your own!).

3D Pens Circuit Boards Cricut Maker* Embroidery/Sewing Machine* Glowforge*

*Requires certification to use.

Schedule a one-on-one appointment with Adult Services or attend one of the designated classes listed to receive your certification.

Ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult when using the X-Lab. Only 13+ can receive certifications.

Metal Jewelry Stamping

Newly added is our brand new Glowforge!

Ages 14 and Up

Learn how to customize jewelry with names, phrases, or your favorite quotes in this metal stamping class and take home your creation. All supplies provided.

"I am the Graphic Designer, and I am in charge of creating most of the marketing materials you see, including this newsletter."

Tell us 3 things most people don’t know about you?

"1. I was a music major in college.

2. My favorite music genres are Rock and K-Pop. 3. I want to learn Japanese."

What is your favorite thing about working in a library?

"Working as the graphic designer, I love being able to use my skills to creatively promote the library and all it has to offer."

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

"I would love to start traveling! I'd book myself a ticket to somewhere in Asia and not come back for about a year."

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

"Music. Not a day goes by that I don't listen to music. At least half of the time that I'm awake, I'm listening to music."

We offer storytimes in English and Spanish. Each storytime is created with age appropriate stories, music, movement and a craft. All of our storytimes help get your child ready to read and help build their language skills.

Take a timed SAT practice test sponsored by Huntington of Grayslake. Students should bring a non-phone calculator (ideally a graphing calculator) and a #2 pencil. Test will be on paper and begin promptly at 9:30. A 15-minute break is included and snacks will be provided. Results will be provided and reviewed the following day. R
