Operation Valentine

Join our initiative to support our local Senior Citizens and show them care and love! Submit your Valentines to our pink and red mailbox outside of Town Hall by Feb. 12th and we will distribute them to our Meals on Wheels recipients and other Seniors in the community.

Leprechaun Fun Run

Join us for a 1 mile run/walk/jig from Miamogue Park to the GYCC. Enjoy light breakfast and drinks after the race. This is a family friendly event, dogs and strollers are welcome. Parking is available at both the GYCC and Miamogue but the race begins at the beach. Check in and onsite registration (cash only) begins at 8:30 at Miamogue Park. T-shirts are available to the first 50 registrants.

Garden Supply Swap

Calling all garden enthusiasts! Join us for a fun and eco-friendly Garden Supply Swap. Bring your gently used gardening tools, seeds, pots, and other supplies, and exchange them for something new to you to enhance your garden. It’s a great way to recycle, meet fellow gardeners, and discover new plants, seeds, and gear for your next garden project. No money involvedjust swap and share! Fun, sustainable way to refresh your garden without spending a dime. We will utilize the picnic tables, you may bring your own table if you’d like.

Jigsaw Jamboree

Put your puzzle-solving skills to the test at our exciting Jigsaw Jamboree! Gather your team or challenge yourself individually as you race against the other teams to complete the puzzle. This fun and engaging event is perfect for puzzle enthusiasts, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro. Each team (maximum of 4 people) or individual will be provided with the same 500 piece puzzle, and the goal is simple: be the first to piece it all together! Along the way, enjoy friendly competition, snacks, and the satisfaction of working through challenges with others. Prizes will be awarded, pre-registration is required by the 4th of the each month.

We’re excited to invite you to participate in our Book Donation & Sale event, brownies will be served too! Kids Acting & 10 Minute Play Festival

Kids will be put into groups/pairs for their 10-minute plays and get to practice in class. The last class will be a small performance of each 10-minute play for your family.

Riverhead’s newest boxing gym, Hill Street Boxing, is beyond excited to offer a no-contact boxing program! This program will teach students the basics of boxing including: basic punches, self defense, footwork, head movement, technique, strength and conditioning, and respect. All equipment is included and students will train in Hill Street Boxing’s new state of the art facility.

Jr. Advanced Basketball- Ages 10-12

This class is for players who have sucessfully completed at least 2 courses with Coach Rodney in the past year. Players must know how to properly do a layup, dribble, pass, and shoot. Fundamentals of basketball are improved, but focus will be on game play.The Recreation Dept. reserves the right to move a student down to the Junior Basketball class until the participant can successfully perform the skills necessary to participate in this class. Youth Programs

Korean Tae Kwon Do- Groups for Ages 5 - 13

Students are registering for 4 weeks- 2 classes per week, 30 minute classes for 5-6 year olds, 45-minute classes for 7 and up. Archery

Students learn the basics of archery from proper form to range safety using the recurve bow. Classes consist of exercises, games, equipment checks, and introduction to the JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) program through US Archery. All equipment provided.

How do I Register?

You can register in person at our office locations, over the phone, or by visiting our registration website www. riverheadrecreation.com.When registering online for the first time new registrants will be asked to create an online account before registering for programs. Proof of residency is required when registering for classes annually. Acceptable proofs of residency include a current tax bill, utility bill, a rental or lease agreement, or driver’s license.

What are my payment options?

Registration and payment is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, or credit/debit cards. All checks must be made payable to“Town of Riverhead Recreation Dept.”. Any returned check is subject to a $25.00 fee. When using a debit or credit card to make purchases, a fee of 2.45% or a minumum charge of $1.75 will be charged pertransaction. All major card companies are accepted.

Release of liability

All participants in Town of Riverhead Parks & Recreation Department programs do so at their own risk. Individuals are responsible to check all class descriptions to ensure that their physical condition and skill level allow for safe participation.

Refund Process

Registrants may be eligible for a department credit, provided they complete the request form available on our website www.riverheadrecreation.net, or at one of our office locations. If a credit request is approved, it will be posted to the registrant’s household account. All credits attributed to an account will expire 12/31 of the year issued. Credit requests must be submitted at least five days prior to the start of the program and are subject to a $5.00 processing fee. In the event that the Recreation Department cancels a program or event, registrants may be eligible for a full refund or a department credit.

Beach Stickers

Please be mindful that beach parking is enforced year round by the Riverhead Police Dept. As soon as we have the 2025 stickers the 2024 stickers will no longer be valid. We will announce when you can purchase your new stickers via all of our marketing/media outlets.

Bathroom Winterization

Some of our park and beach bathroom facilities require winterization and will not be available for use until it is warm enough in the spring. Please plan accordingly
