Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place Friday, April 11th! Be sure to stick around after the hunt for pictures with the Easter Bunny, the Jellybean Guess, and to check inside your eggs for bonus prizes! You are welcome to arrive at 6:00 pm at the park, the Egg Hunts will begin promptly at 6:15 pm. No registration is required.

Garden Supply Swap

The River & Roots Community Garden in collaboration with the Riverhead Parks & Recreation Dept will be hosting a fun and eco-friendly Garden Supply Swap. Bring your gently used gardening tools, seeds, pots, and other supplies, and exchange them for something new to you to enhance your garden. It’s a great way to recycle, meet fellow gardeners, and discover new plants, seeds, and gear for your next garden project. No money involved-just swap and share! Fun, sustainable way to refresh your garden without spending a dime.

Community Day

Last year’s Community Day was a blast! Let’s do it again this year. Come join us in the park for some live entertainment, a kid’s show, our Community Yard Sale and vendors, lawn games, a fun run, food trucks, and more. Pitch Hit & Run

Pitch Hit & Run is for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 years old and consists of a series of movements that are important in baseball and softball. Athletes are tested on their individual skills in each movement earning a cumulative score at the end of the competition. These are as follows:

• Pitching Accuracy of 5 balls to the strike-zone target

• Hitting Distance of 5 balls off a tee

• Running Speed from Home to 1st Base

Based on their scores, they can advance from a Local Competition to a Team Championship and then to the Finals, which is held in conjunction with the MLB World Series. Bring helmet, bat, glove, cleats or sneakers Age is determined as of November 15, 2025.

I Fish NY Clinic

Come out and join us for some playful snapper fishing. Loaner rods and free bait will be provided. This clinic will focus on techniques, fishing regulations, fish identification, and stewardship. Plus get some tips before the Snapper Tournament!

28th Annual Snapper Tournament

The focus of this tournament is to get youth and adults involved in fishing and to raise money for the Recreation Department’s Scholarship Fund. Prizes include Rod/Reel to the 1st Place winner in each division and trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each division. Raffle prizes from local merchants will also be given out immediately following the tournament. T-shirts will be available for the first 50 registrants. We strongly encourage you pre-register to choose your T-shirt size. On-site registration will begin at the Town Dock at 10:00am.

Repair Cafe

A Repair Café is a place where the community comes together to help restore and repair. Bring broken, loved, or still useful objects or volunteer with your tools and skills to fix them. It’s an opportunity for different generations to come together, learn new skills, and save their items from ending up in the landfill. This event is a collaboration with the North Fork Enviromental Council.

The Bronx Zoo, Bus Trip

A favorite returns! Enjoy the ride to the Bronx Zoo to see all of its amazing animals, exhibits, and rides. The great thing about the Bronx Zoo is you can’t see it all in one day. So, this time around, let us do the driving so you can enjoy the day. The charter bus will leave from and return you to Stotzky Park with no additional stops.

Brunch Cruise Around Manhattan

Enjoy a meal with a view! You’ll go on a 2 hour boat ride around NYC’s classic sights. There will be a lunch buffet, drinks, and a DJ as well! Plus you’ll enjoy the ride from Stotzky Park to Pier 61 on the bus. Must bring id to register and to the boat.

NYS Safe Boater’s Course

This 8-hour course is an introduction to the basic principles of safe and responsible boating. Students successfully completing this course earn a safe boating certificate. You must be at least 10 years old to participate. To help ensure New York’s waterways remain safe and enjoyable, this course teaches basic boating skills and encourages common sense and courtesy to all who share the water. Topics covered include rules of the nautical road, required safety equipment, special boating related activities and many more. Track & Field Camp

This program combines technical development and fundamental techiniqes with safety, and a major focus on fun! Our exercises and drills will prepare athletes for a future in track and field, while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cooldown techniques are all covered in this unique program. Bring sneakers and plenty of water.

No Contact Boxing Camp

Riverhead’s newest boxing gym, Hill Street Boxing, is beyond excited to offer no contact boxing program! This program will teach students the basics of boxing including: basic punches, self-defense, footwork, head movement, techniques, strength and conditioning, and respect. All equipment is included.

Youth Programs

Learn to Sail

This program will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to sail a small, fixed keel, sailboat in light to moderate conditions. Participants should be new to sailing, with no prior experience, and will learn the basic points of sail and boat handling skills. All students must be able to lift 50lbs and pass a swim test on the first day.

Intermediate Level Sailing

This program is open to anyone who has completed a pervious beginner sailing program and is looking for some extra practice time out on the water. The instructor will be assisting and offering tips to participants. Lifejackets are provided. The price is per boat, if 2 people want to participate together they will pay the one boat fee.

Swimming Lessons

Basic Swimming and water safety are offered throughout the summer. Register with the Recreation Dept. for the beach you would like to take the lesson at. The dates listed correspond with your lesson dates and the time will be determined on Monday at the student evaluation. Evaluations will be held on the first Monday of the lesson dates. Must be 5 on first day of lessons, no exceptions. Riverhead Town Parking Permit required at all Town Beaches.

How do I Register?

You can register in person at our office locations, over the phone, or by visiting our registration website www. riverheadrecreation.net. When registering online for the first time new registrants will be asked to create an online account before registering for programs. Proof of residency is required when registering for classes annually. Acceptable proofs of residency include a current tax bill, utility bill, a rental or lease agreement, or driver’s license.

What are my payment options?

Registration and payment is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, or credit/debit cards. All checks must be made payable to“Town of Riverhead Recreation Dept.”. Any returned check is subject to a $25.00 fee. When using a debit or credit card to make purchases, a fee of 3.5% will be charged per-transaction. All major card companies are accepted.

Release of liability

All participants in Town of Riverhead Parks & Recreation Department programs do so at their own risk. Individuals are responsible to check all class descriptions to ensure that their physical condition and skill level allow for safe participation.

Refund Process

Registrants may be eligible for a department credit, provided they complete the request form available on our website www.riverheadrecreation.net, or at one of our office locations. If a credit request is approved, it will be posted to the registrant’s household account. All credits attributed to an account will expire 12/31 of the year issued. Credit requests must be submitted at least five days prior to the start of the program. In the event that the Recreation Department cancels a program or event, registrants may be eligible for a full refund or a department credit.

How

do I find out about programs changes and

cancelations?

A member of the department will send out an email and text alert as soon as they are aware of the cancelation. In some instances phone calls will be made however, it is best to check your emails or text messages for these types of updates.

Additionally, we will also post outdoor cancelations and beach/park closings on our social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram.

Beach Stickers

Please be mindful that beach parking is enforced year round by the Riverhead Police Dept. Beach Parking Permits are available to Riverhead residents and can be purchased online, at our Town beaches, and at the Recreation dept. office.

Licence, registration, and proof of residency are required for all permits. Some specialty permits like 4x4 or boat launch may require additional information. These requirements can be found on the Riverhead Recreation website.
