EDITORIAL Dear All, Welcome to RIFF: R.E.D International Film Festival, dance-art-cinema. For the seventh year in a row we are happy to celebrate dance, art, and the various possible audiovisual expressions that have a relation with movement. The festival will be celebrated from July 8th to 10th, 2022. This year’s theme is EXPLORING THE WORLD, and we continue our vision of building bridges between the performing and visual arts and the film industry. Throughout this magazine we virtually distribute the films that are part of this year’s edition: the Official Selection. Each page contains a link to the films that have been carefully selected by the RIFF curatorial group. The films will be available from July 8th to August 7th. The official selection consists of 26* international films, including 3 Norwegian Films. We have registered the consequences that the COVID pandemic has left on society, working artists, and cultural life, and we are grateful that the RIFF festival has been able to survive the last two years. One of the films in this year’s program places us squarely on the topic of Ukraine, and forces us to think about the terrible events that have unleashed, and which looks absurd to any civilized idea. With the festival and its curatorship, as well as its different events, we would like to contribute a little to society, taking culture as a weapon. This will help us take by storm the right to enjoy life and feel hope again, for humanity and its habitat: the planet. We would like to defend the right of all human beings to experience joy, compassion, and love. In this program we’ll be sharing films that link local and urban culture with the arts and how it is transmitted throughout generations. The films are celebrating dance, and invites us further to fight racism and social class differences, and to respect the role of women, life, death and friendship. For those who will be present at the festival we offer a variety of events, with CAFÉ EXPERIANCE, a two hours journey through performance and dance, installations and art, film, music and meals, as one of our highlights. The concept is developed by Ella Fiskum and is a collaboration with our Shooting Star, Festival Artist and dance and performance artists in residence at R.E.D. As the Hollywood sign was erected in Los Angeles in 1923, Einawood was founded during RIFF SECOND EDITION as a neighborhood where the motion picture industry is emerging. EINAWOOD sign inaugurated in Eina, Norway, on July 20th, 2017. The event was led by Ella Fiskum, Yolanda M. Guadarrama and Madeline Wood, RIFF Team: director, curator and visual creator of the sign. It is a playful action, but also a reality, as everything can happen in the world of motion pictures. See the festival trailer HERE. Welcome to our festival, whether it is digital or in person.
