EDITORIAL Dear All We welcome you to RIFF; R.E.D. INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL -dance-art-cinema-. This annual festival is celebrating its FIFTH EDITION and was founded in July 2015. It is located on a farm overlooking Eina Lake, just outside Oslo. Surrounded by breathtaking Norwegian countryside. During this very special time due to COVID-19 that we are experiencing, we have changed the RIFF 2020 format, it will therefore be celebrated in two versions. FIRST FORMAT: The festival is celebrated on July 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 10th, at the R.E.D. farm featuring film programs and screenings, along with live dance, music, shooting stars and art exhibitions. Our new Drive-In Cinema in the R.E.D. FIELD gives us space to follow the government regulations, keeping everybody safe and healthy. SECOND FORMAT: We are distributing this magazine as as a possibility to have a virtual festival. Inside the magazine we offer links to all* the selected films of RIFF FIFTH EDITION. The links will be available throughout the month of July 2020. The festival’s mission is to build a bridge between the different fields of performing and visual arts, and the film industry. The festival aims to show films that have a strong element of movement and dance including interdisciplinary expressions such as screendance, art films, to the more traditional and conventional short films, full feature films and documentaries. Diversity is one of the most important principles of the festival, so for this fifth edition we chose powerful, visual, poetic, and provocative films, as well as realistic short films, humanist, humoristic, ecological, dance-theater films, documentaries about dance and art, animations, and some surprises. Our international jury will choose the winners who will get a residency at R. E. D. in 2021 or when this emergency is over. We’ll publish the Award results on our internet site by July 11th. R.E.D. (Residency Eina Danz), is an international, national and regional arena for arts and culture, running with a full year interdisciplinary residency program, and a production house for dance and film. During RIFF SECOND EDITION we founded Einawood: As the Hollywood sign was erected in Los Angeles in 1923, Einawood was founded as a neighborhood where the motion picture industry is emerging. EINAWOOD sign was inaugurated in Eina, Norway, on July 20th, 2017. The event was led by Ella Fiskum, Yolanda M. Guadarrama and Madeline Wood, RIFF Team: director, curator and visual creator of the sign. It is a playful action and also it is reality, as everything happens in the motion picture world. See the festival trailer HERE . Stay Safe and Let’s Keep Art Alive. Please enjoy!!! Ella Fiskum.
