For over fifty five years Richmond Montessori School (RMS) has remained dedicated to providing an authentic Montessori education in a student-centered environment and has remained true to the mission of its founders and the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori. RMS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) independent school duallyaccredited by the American Montessori Society and the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. The school serves approximately 320 students ages 18 months to 14 years on two adjacent campuses, which incorporate eleven acres of beautiful green space, located in the west end of Richmond, Virginia. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Richmond Montessori School seeks an incredibly organized, quick-thinking office assistant with a good sense of humor who enjoys interacting with all kinds of people to join our front office team. This role is responsible for the smooth function and operation of the front office and assisting the Assistant Head of School and Student Support Team with their work responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS
Answer incoming calls; respond to or redirect questions, take messages, forward calls, pick up messages from schoolwide answering machine.
Keep the common area and front desk area clean, neat, and presentable at all times. Ensure coverage at the front desk at all times. Greet, assist, and direct families, students, and staff daily. Ensure that all visitors are signed in and assigned visitor badges as appropriate.
Ensure that late-arrival students are signed in, attendance records updated and taken to class.
Distribute health notices regarding communicable diseases to appropriate stakeholders.
Assist with ill children when requested and oversee students via sight and sound supervision, contact parents upon request. Coordinate classroom observations with education coordinators as requested.
Sort and distribute incoming mail/post outgoing mail for North Campus, replace and restock copy toner and take meter readings for copiers on North Campus.
Maintain master document drawer by keeping copies of necessary documents on hand e.g. proof of ID, admission inquiry form, maintain front desk master binders e.g. rosters, directory.
Record communicable diseases, and track student tardies & absences through the database. Understand and follow crisis management plan. Assist with drills.
Provide administrative support to the Assistant Head of School and Student Support Team
Inventory & order office supplies, materials orders, general kitchen supplies, general office supplies, and medical supplies as necessary.
Reserve room space for meetings and maintain calendars for usage.

ASSISTS WITH ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AS NEEDED BY LEVEL DIRECTORS
UPDATE SCHOOL CALENDARS FOR SHARED AREAS
RECEIVE AND FILE FIELD TRIP AND GOING OUT FORMS FROM TEACHERS, ADD FIELD TRIP TO RMS PLANNER, RESERVE SCHOOL BUSES ON RMS PLANNER IF NECESSARY, AND SHARE A COPY WITH THE REGISTRAR IF PARENT DRIVERS ARE INVOLVED.
ACCESS DATABASE AND DATA ENTRY BASED ON PARENT REQUESTS I.E.: CHANGE OF ADDRESS, PHONE, DOB, PERSONS AUTHORIZED TO PICK UP/EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION ETC.
DEVELOPS A PLAN FOR CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL GROWTH THAT IS BASED ON REGULAR SELF-REFLECTION AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION UTILIZING THE ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL ASSESSMENT/DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

ENJOYS WORKING IN A SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT POSSESSES QUALITIES OF CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY, WHICH MERIT THE CONFIDENCE AND RESPECT OF STUDENTS, STAFF, AND PARENTS DEMONSTRATES PROFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF AND FACILITY WITH THE GOOGLE SUITE AND STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS, SUCH AS VERACROSS AND MAGNUS HEALTH HAS KNOWLEDGE OF GENERAL OFFICE PROCEDURES AND PRACTICES.
