T

he Scouting program in Richardson is thriving thanks to the dedicated support of both the families who have chosen to enroll their youth in Scouting and the 600+ community members who support them through their volunteer hours and financial commitment. The BSA’s primary goal is to help young people be prepared

for life. Whether it’s Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Exploring or Venturing, the BSA’s programs are designed to help youth grow and develop leadership skills in a safe environment under the direction of a parent, Scout leader or peer. Currently in Richardson, there are 39 active Scouting units—16 Packs, 19 Troops, two Explorer Posts and two

Venturing Crews. Within those 39 units are 1,790 youth participating in the program, 403 of which are new this year thanks to a robust outreach program at the elementary school level. Scouting provides an opportunity for families to make their own stories of high-adventure as they scale mountains, dive with sharks, camp in the wilderness
