Hello, I am Jorge from 3rd ESO C and I am going to explain to you my experience as a participant in the 2023 Global Classrooms conference.

Firstly, I would like to add that it was a pretty fun experience, I met lots of new people with similar hobbies to mine and also learned lots of new things, but mainly what I liked was that it was an activity that got me out of my comfort zone, having to talk about political and economic problems in the current world besides also having to debate against other people. Even though I have not done these things before, I learned to adapt to this new environment.

Secondly, I am going to tell you how I felt and what I did there. When I was at the first conference, at first I was a little bit shy, as I did not know anyone there and I did not talk to anyone. And that is when I thought: “These people are in the same place and situation as me so maybe I can be the one starting the conversation” and well, I did and it worked. I made some friends, some of whom I am still in contact with and did well on the first stage.

After this, let’s say that I was lucky enough to pass to the next stage. The moment I saw the email, let's be honest I thought it was a joke, there were by far people that did better than me, but I thought: Ok, If I passed to this stage I may pass to the next one, I arrived to the 2nd stage at the same place as in the first stage, and as in the first stage, I also got lost while searching for my room when the break ended. But, the experience there was pretty similar to last time except for the fact that people there took the conference too seriously. As I expected, unfortunately, we didn't pass, but I learned a lot of things from these conferences, and being the first 2 to pass to the 2nd stage from the high school was for me a very big accomplishment and I am very proud of myself for reaching it.

Un año más, el IES Juan Gris ha participado en el programa de la Comunidad de Madrid Global Classrooms. 10 alumnos de 3º ESO C y E se convirtieron en representantes de distintos países de las naciones unidas para trabajan de forma cooperativa y plantear posibles soluciones a problemas globales Este año, por primera vez, una de nuestras delegaciones, formada por Sharon Damazah y Jorge Pascual (de 3º C) se clasificó entre las 50 mejores (de las más de 700 que participaron en principio) para la segunda ronda Tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la Asamblea de Madrid en el Acto de Clausura, donde recibieron un diploma por su brillante actuación. Hola, soy Jorge de 3C y os voy a hablar de mi experiencia en el Global Classroom de 2023. Primero, quiero añadir que fue una experiencia bastante divertida, conocí a muchas personas con gustos parecidos a los míos y aprendí muchísimas cosas nuevas, pero lo que yo creo q más me gustó fue la idea de que tuve que salir de mi zona de confort, yo que estaba acostumbrado a hablar en español casi todo el día y fue un paso grande para mí, fue de hablar de gramática y vocabulario en inglés a estar exponiendo maneras de cambiar la economía en Suiza Lo segundo, voy a explicaros mi experiencia allí, tras haberme levantado a las 5 de la mañana (me tuve que tomar 3 cafés allí y seguía dormido) llegué a la conferencia, la única pega que tengo del lugar es que no había ningún cartelito para poner donde estaban las salas y los baños y me perdí varias veces, pero bueno, logré encontrar la sala y hay que decir que todos los que estábamos allí éramos muy tímidos (excepto mi compañera que habló con todo el mundo), recuerdo que el primero con el que hablé fue porque tenía una mochila del Real Madrid y le pregunté si odiaba al Atleti, dijo que sí, entonces empezamos a hablar de fútbol y empezó la conferencia, estuvo bastante bien, pero la tensión allí se podía cortar con un cuchillo.

Digamos que lo hicimos bastante bien y logramos pasar a la segunda fase (no sé ni cómo pase) pero bueno, estuve una semana estudiando el discurso y cuando llegó el día, llegué a la conferencia y como de costumbre me volví a perder, al final la conferencia empezó y si ya en la primera fase todos se lo tomaban muy en serio aquí lo hacían el doble, pero también hay que decir que conocí a muchas más personas y me lo pasé bastante mejor que la primera vez. Desafortunadamente no pasé a la siguiente fase (que era de esperar por el nivel que había allí) pero aún así, yo os recomiendo participar en el programa. Si aún así no os interesa la idea de tener que estar hablando en inglés por tanto tiempo, seguro que lo de perder clase lo hará. Y quien sabe, a lo mejor podéis pasar a Nueva York y ser los primeros del instituto en hacerlo, que si yo pude vosotros seguro también.
