l otoño se acerca, y con él llega un nuevo número de Amura Yachts and Lifestyle que nos llevará a un recorrido a través de uno de los países más interesantes de la bella Europa Central: Polonia. En este viaje llegaremos a las aguas termales de Sopot y Gdansk; experimentaremos la emoción que ofrece la capital, Cracovia; y las bellas construcciones de Zamosc. Obviamente, no podemos salir de viaje sin el guardarropa adecuado, y un vistazo a las tendencias para este verano nos presenta trajes y hermosos y frescos accesorios. Los guardarropas ostentarán naranjas, ocres y morados para estar a la par del espíritu de esta temporada. Presentamos también tres ejemplares automotrices que encarnan la evolución, al ser versiones actualizadas y aumentadas de verdaderas leyendas. Bentley nos deslumbra con la reedición de su Continental GT, que reafirma el estilo y la capacidad de este coche con aditamentos y un motor más poderoso. Chevrolet conmemora sus primeros cien años con una edición especial de uno de sus emblemas más reconocidos, el Corvette, que en su modelo Z06 lanzará el Centennial Edition. Finalmente, el Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG nos remite al 300SL Gullwing, que esta firma alemana habría lanzado en los años cincuenta, pero con todas las innovaciones de un coche de lujo del siglo XXI. Los mares en otoño serán navegados por dos embarcaciones que son ejemplos de esplendor y comodidad. El Predator 115 es el nuevo súper yate de Sunseeker dentro de su ya reconocida línea Predator; conserva las líneas agresivas de estos barcos, además de que logra un mayor aprovechamiento de los interiores. utumn is coming, and with it comes a new issue of Amura Yachts and Lifestyle that will take us to a journey through one of the most interesting countries in the beautiful Central Europe: Poland. On this trip we arrive at the hot springs of Sopot and Gdansk, experience the excitement offered by the capital, Cracovia, and beautiful buildings in Zamosc. Obviously we can’t leave home without the right outfit, and a look at the trends for this summer presents fresh clothes and beautiful accessories. The wardrobes will display oranges, browns and purples to keep up with the spirit of this season. We also present three examples that embody automotive evolution, being updated and expanded versions of true legends. Bentley dazzles us with the refit of its Continental GT, which reaffirms the style and capability of this car with new additions and a more powerful engine. On the other hand, Chevrolet celebrates its first hundred years with a special edition of one of its most recognized symbols, launching the Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition. Finally, the Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS evokes to the 300SL Gullwing, which this German company released in the fifties, but with all the innovations of a luxury car of the twentieth first century. The seas in fall will be sailed by two ships that are both examples of splendor and comfort. The Predator 115 is the new Sunseeker’s super yacht within its recognized Predator line, retaining the aggressive lines from these boats, while achieving a better use of the interiors. Meanwhile, the Azimut Leonardo 100’ features a streamlined style which calls for adventure, and optimizes the spaces to make them more comfortable. Thus, Amura Yachts and Lifestyle welcomes the autumn with an issue that provides everything needed to make this an unforgettable season.

toño/Invierno es una temporada pintada de tonos ocres y naranjas, donde las hojas secas crujen abajo los pasos de los transeúntes. Los diseñadores colorean las pasarelas con colores como el amarillo, el morado y el azul turquesa profundo. Además, con un aire sofisticado y colecciones con un estilo sesentero, las prendas de lana y piel predominan dentro del imaginario de los creadores del estilo. Por su parte, los estampados geométricos triunfan en esta temporada y fusionan tendencias: con el color block del verano, los estampados a rayas, los motivos tribales y el op-art de los sesenta obtenemos una mirada próxima a estas colecciones. utumn/Winter is a season painted with ocher and orange tones, where the dead leaves crackle under the steps of casual passers. The designers color the runways with colors like yellow, purple and blue deep teal. Besides, with a sophisticated air and sixties’ style collections, the wool and leather clothes predominate in the style creator’s imaginary. In the other hand, the geometric prints succeed in this season and fuses tendencies: with the block color of summer, the striped pattern, the tribal motives and the sixties’ op-art we obtain a closer look to the latest collections. The lace is a classic that will reign in because of its delicate texture and its sexy vintage touch is aggregated to any look. This Autumn/Winter season is a time machine which refers us to the bulky blazers, midi skirts, tweed sets, tight outfits that draw the silhouette, classic coats, cross sailors and Wellington boots. ara la firma DeWitt, el Tourbillon Force Constante representa un sueño que fue trabajado arduamente para hacerlo realidad. Esta fina obra de relojería abordó de lleno una de las incógnitas más antiguas dentro del arte de crear relojes: la transmisión regular de energía hacia el mecanismo. A través del Tourbillon Force Constante, DeWitt logró crear un dispositivo adicional que permite transmitir impulsos de energía idéntica, sin importar la tensión del barrilete, cada diez segundos al tourbillon. De esta manera, se agregan tres ruedas adicionales al sistema tradicional de un reloj: una rueda media pequeña y dos ruedas de transmisión, entre la fuerza motriz (barrilete) y el regulador (tourbillon). La estética del reloj sólo puede igualarse con la proeza técnica de su mecanismo, y se conforma de una carátula, hecha con de oro de 18 quilates, que presenta breves aberturas que dejan entrever la complejidad de las 192 piezas que integran la maquinaria de esta pieza de relojería.

or DeWitt, the Tourbillon Force Constante represents a dream that eventually became an achievement, and that took years of work to make it happen. This fine time piece was aimed to address one of the oldest issues in the art of watch making: the constant transmission of energy to the mechanism. With the Tourbillon Force Constante, DeWitt mana ged to create an additional device which can transmit identical energy pulses every ten seconds to the tourbillon, regardless of the strain of the barrel. Thus, three additional wheels are incorporated to the traditional system of the watch: a small middle wheel drive and two transmission wheels, between the driving force (barrel) and the regulator (tourbillon). The aesthetics of the watch can only be equated with the technical prowess of its mechanism, and its case is made with 18 carat gold, that displays brief openings that give us glimpses at the complexity of the 192 pieces that make up the machinery of this timepiece.

Sopot y Gdansk Enfrentando los caprichosos vientos del mar Báltico, veníamos navegando desde Copenhague, hasta alcanzar la costa polaca cerca de Darlowo. Seguimos las largas playas de arena blanca donde el aire hacía oscilar la vegetación barrida por los vientos del norte y las dunas protegían los pantanos y lagunas costeras. Hermosas casas adornaban el escenario, ofreciendo un panorama digno de una pintura medieval. Pasamos la pequeña ciudad de Wladyslawowo adosada al acantilado para contornar la larga península arenosa que llega a Hel y protege la bahía de Puck. Habíamos entrado en el famoso Golfo de Gdansk, delimitado al este por Rusia con las ciudades de Kaliningrad y Baltiysk, y donde desemboca el río Vístula con un importante delta. Fue entonces cuando alcanzamos Sopot, un antiguo balneario aristocrático que tuvo sus años de gloria antes de la guerra, donde nobles y príncipes pasaban el verano y gozaban de sus aguas termales. Nos instalamos en el maravilloso Grand Hotel Sopot Sofitel para sentir esa fiebre de los años 30, cuando la ciudad retumbaba con sofisticado glamour. La playa de arena blanca acoge a los cisnes y patos, mientras que Molo, el muelle de madera más largo de Europa, invita a un paseo sobre el agua para disfrutar de una vista soberbia.
Sopot and Gdansk Facing the capricious winds of the Baltic Sea, we had been navigating from Copenhagen, until we reached the polish shore near Darlowo. We followed the white sandy beaches where the air flows amongst the barren vegetation, following the northern wind and the dunes that protect the swamps and the costal lagoons. Beautiful houses adorned the scenery, offering a panorama worthy of a medieval painting. We passed the small town of Wladyslawowo near the dock to circumvent the long, sandy peninsula that takes one to Hel, which protects the bay of Puck. We had entered the famous Gulf of Gdansk, bordered on the east by Russia and the cities of Kaliningrad and Baltiysk, and where the Vístula river turns into a mighty delta. We then reached Sopot, an ancient aristocratic dwelling that enjoyed it glory years before the Second World War, a place where nobles and princes flocked to in the summer to enjoy its thermal waters. We lodged ourselves in the wonderful Grand Hotel Sopot Sofitel to experience that 1930s fever, when the city rumbled with sophisticated glamour. The beaches were home to swans and ducks, while Molo, the largest wooden dock in Europe, invites one to take a stroll over the water and enjoy a sublime view.
Posteriormente, entramos en el río Motlawa hasta llegar a la ciudad de Zielona Brama, la Puerta Verde de Gdansk. Ésta fue construida en 1560 para ser la residencia de los reyes y abre sus arcos sobre el Camino Real donde los reyes polacos desfilaban cuando visitaban la ciudad, vigilados por la torre del ayuntamiento. Dlugli Targ fue el mercado principal y es ahora el lugar favorito de los turistas. Ahí destacan Zlota Kamienica; la fuente de Neptuno y Dwór Artusa. El Ayuntamiento, de estilo gótico y renacentista, con su torre, la más alta de Gdansk (81.5m), y una estatua dorada del rey Zygmunt II, hoy Museum Historii Miasta Gdanska (museo de Historia) donde impresionan la puerta barroca con las armas de la ciudad guardadas por dos leones, sus hermosas salas, especialmente la Sala Czerwona donde se juntaban los consejeros. Siguiendo el Camino Real, transitamos entonces por Ul Dluga, una de las calles más hermosas de Polonia, y tomamos una cerveza en el Celtic Pub. Afterwards, we entered the Motlawa River until we reached the city of Zielona Brama, the Green Entrance of Gdansk. This was built in 1560 in order to be the residence of the future kings, and it opens its arches over the Royal Road where the Polish kinds would parade themselves whilst visiting the city under the watchful eye of the vigilant tower. Dlugli Targ was the main maket, and it is now a favourite spot for tourists. There one can admire the Zlota Kamienica; the fountain of Neptune and Dwór Artusa. The Town Hall, built in a Gothic and Renaissance style, boasting the highest tower of Gdansk (81.5m), and a golden statue of king Zygmunt II, is today the Museum Historii Miasta Gdanska, where the impressive baroque doors with the arms of the city guarded by two lions stand, and it’s the home of the Czerwona Room, where council members would meet. Following the Royal Road, we travelled then through Ul Dluga, one of the most famous streets of Poland, drinking beer at the Celtic Pub. We also enjoyed the amber shops and we then reached Zlota Brama (golden door) and Dwór Bractwa Sw Jerzego. Close by

Descubrimos Brama Wyzynna, la puerta de tierra construida en 1574, Wielka Zbrojownia (el gran Arsenal) del siglo 17 adornado con motivos militares, estatuas de soldados y las armas de la ciudad. Degustamos la comida polaca típica en Restauracja Gdalska, que incluyó carnes asadas, col agria, sopas, salchichas y pato en sabrosas salsas. Caminamos por Ul Mariacka, la calle más típica de Gdansk, para llegar a Brama Mariacka (puerta de Santa María) junto al río donde admiramos Zuraw Gdanski, una grúa medieval de madera con 2 grandes poleas para descargar barco. Siguiendo el paseo a lo largo del río, observamos los elegantes edificios, y reencontramos nuestro velero para regresar a Sopot y finalizar el día con broche de oro, cenando en el restaurante Art Deco del Grand Sopot Sofitel para disfrutar de la excepcional cocina del chef Leszek Patoka, y gozar de una romántica velada frente al mar Báltico.
we discovered Przedbramie, or frontal door, formed by Katownia (torture home) and Wieza Wizzienna (prison tower), which harbours the marvellous museum of Amber, the “Gold of the Baltic”. We also discovered Brama Wyzynna, built in 1574, Wielka Zbrojownia, built in the 17th Century and adorned with military motifs, statues of soldiers and the crest of the city. We enjoyed the typical polish food at the Restauracja Gdanska, which included roasted meet, sour cabbage, soup, sausages and duck with various sauces. We then walked through Ul Mariacka, the main street of Gdansk, until we reached Brama Mariacka (door of Santa Maria) next to the river where we admired Zuraw Gdanski, a medieval wooden crane with two large pulleys to unload ships. We kept on walking next to the river, observing elegant buildings and we once again found our sailboat to return to Sopot and conclude our day in a spectacular manner, dining at the Art Deco restaurant Grand Sopot Sofitel to enjoy the exceptional creations of chef Leszek Patoka and enjoy a romantic evening in front of the Baltic Sea.
Malbork Dejamos el velero en Sopot para recorrer Polonia por su encantadora campiña y sus fascinantes sitios cargados de historia. Lo más cercano que visitamos fue Malbork (Marienburg), una imponente fortaleza gótica construida por los Caballeros Teutones en el siglo XIII a la orilla del río Nogat. Ampliada a los largo del tiempo, actualmente se conforma de tres intrincados castillos que forman la fortaleza de ladrillo más grande de Europa, donde visitamos las salas medievales el patio central con sus arcos y los restos de la catedral.
Torun Our next step following this route took us to the town of Chelmno, a place with an imposing wall perforated with entrances, high medieval buildings made with bricks, and an enchanting central plaza where the mayor’s office resides. Finally, we reached Torun, a walled city near Vístula, the native town of astronomer Nicolas Copernicus, famous for having over 300 monuments pertaining to the art history of Europe. As we walked through the central plaza and adjacent roads, we penetrated into a universe that has remained unchanged for 700 years, one that has maintained its medieval appearance.

Malbork We leith out sailboat at Sopot to travel through Poland through its countryside, one charged with history. The closet we got to this regions was Malbork (Marienburg), and impressive gothic fortress built by Teutonic Knights in the 13th century on the shore of the Nogat River. Expanded over time, it is currently conformed of three intricate castles that form the largest brick fortress in Europe, where we visited the medieval rooms of the main plaza and the rest of the cathedral.

Nombrada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, Torun seduce por su ambiente medieval y sus casas góticas; la Dom Pod Gwiazda con su rica fachada decorada en estuco y su escalera de caracol, y es un placer descubrir todas esas fachadas góticas con pinturas murales mientras caminábamos por los callejones medievales. Absorbidos por la belleza de las casas y el encantador ambiente con el vaivén constante de la gente, alcanzamos la plaza mayor ocupada por el ayuntamiento en el centro, uno de los más monumentales de Polonia, con su imponente torre de ladrillo que domina la estatua de Copérnico. Named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Torun seduces one with its medieval ambience and gothic homes; the Dom Pod Gwiazda, with its rich decorated façade and snail-shaped stairs, is a pleasure to discover, as well as the murals we found as we walked through the alleyways. Absorbed by the beauty of the homes and the enchanting atmosphere filled with lively people, we reached the main plaza occupied by the town hall at its centre, one of the largest in Poland, featuring an impressive brick tower that dominates the statue of Copernicus. We discovered the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist, built in the 16th century, majestic and fascinating, home of renaissance and baroque altars, sculptures and paintings, solemn in that fresh spring day. We then reached the beautiful church of Santa Maria where a wedding was being celebrated, the church of Saint Jacob, with its monumental murals from the 14th century. Following the road that travels down with the river, we discovered one the entrances of the wall that follows the Vístula, a testimony to the strength of the city, and we ended at the ruins of a castle once built by Teutonic Knights. Torun is a genuine jewel from the past, where people are enchanting, the food excellent, and the museums fascinating.
Bialystok Después de pasar a través de pueblos tranquilos y románticos, alcanzamos nuestro siguiente destino, Bialystok, en el corazón de la región Podlaskie con sus parques nacionales, considerada como el pulmón de Polonia. Sus calles sombreadas llevan hacia la plaza central cerrada por el ayuntamiento y dominada por la imponente Catedral de ladrillos. Cuando llegamos, la lluvia caía, una misa terminaba y la gente caminaba de prisa para no mojarse, el centro del pueblo estaba como entumido. Descubrimos el suntuoso palacio Branicki, construido en el siglo XVIII por Jan Klemens Branicki que ambicionaba ser rey de Polonia, y degustamos el Bialy, tradicional pastel de Bialystok que lleva cebolla, ajo y semilla de amapola, parecido al baggel.
Bialowieza We then made our way to the East of the country, towards the border of Belorussia, travelling through enchanting towns, and following roads that cross through forests. Soon after we reached the national park of Bialowieza, and immense forest composed of extremely ancient evergreens where, walking through the guided dirt roads, we were able to see a few wild European bison. Declared a hunting ground in 1541, is suffered much deterioration at the hands of war, until it was named a national park. The wisent (bison bonasus) is the European bison, larger than its American counterpart, which lives in the swampy forest and which we could observe not far from our spot.

Bialystok After passing through tranquil and romantic towns, we reached our next destination, Bialystok, at the heart of the Podlaskie region, home of national parks, and considred the ‘lung’ of Poland. It shadowy streets lead one to a central plaza enclosed by the Town Hall and the imposing Cathedral. When we arrived it was raining, mass was ending, and the people walked hurriedly so as to not get wet. We discovered the sumptuous palace of Branicki, built in the 18th century by Jan Klemens Branicki, who strived to be the King of Poland, and we enjoyed the Bialy, a traditional cake made in Bialystok that contains onions, garlic and poppy seeds, similar to a bagel.

En la parte vigilada y cercada, los descubrimos de cerca, junto al lobo gris, el rarísimo lince Felix, los alces y los venados rojos, así como los jabalíes salvajes. Era un festín de fauna local en su propio ambiente, con los pájaros que nos rodeaban. Fue una maravillosa experiencia, un contacto íntimo con la naturaleza. Comimos goulash, cerdo con manzanas y jabalí en salsa de vino en un típico restaurante local a la orilla de una inmensa chimenea, antes de seguir nuestro camino por la carretera rural, verdadero paseo con imágenes del campo, hasta llegar a Varsovia.
In the guarded and enclosed area, we discovered up close, next to a gray wolf, the extremely rare Felix lynx, the red deer, and the elk, as well as wild boars. It was a feast of local fauna, with the addition of birds surrounding us. It was a wonderful experience, to be in contact with nature in such an intimate manner. We ate goulash, apple-roasted pig, and boar win wine sauce in a local restaurant before continuing our journey through the rural highway towards Warsaw.

Warsaw The capital welcomed us with its mundane traffic and noise, in the middle of a whirlwind of immense buildings from the Soviet era and some from medieval times. We lodged ourselves in the luxurious Jan III Sobieski hotel. Here I found a childhood friends Kaska, Elka and Alinka, who would be our guide during our journey in the city. We began at Nowy Swiat, the street where the noblity erected their homes near the palace of the king. It is an enchanting city with a great variety of buildings, restaurants and cosy cafes. We arrived at the fabulous Copernicus monument, which is found in the Krakowski Przedmiencie street, a place that took us, as well, to the baroque church of Santa Cruz. We enjoyed a stroll while Alinka described the various buildings, starting with the

Czapski Palace, a typical example of Rococo architecture, the elegant Europejski hotel, built in the 19th century, the baroque Potocki Palace that was originally built by the Denhoff family, the Kazimierzowski Palace, built in the 17th Century, and which form part of the elegant University of Varsovia. We then found the Presidential Palace, adorned with a elegant equestrian statue of prince Józef Poniatowsk, and we discovered the Visitation Church while letting ourselves be enraptured by the baroque chapels and its unique pulpit in the shape of a ship adorned with sculptures and paintings. The Kazanowski Palace was one the most extravagant aristocratic palaces; the church of Saint Anne shines with its neoclassical façade. For its part, the Bristol hotel is an example of Varsovian splendour. And, finally, we reached the Zambowy plaza that is found at the heart of old part of the city, framed by an austere Royal Palace with an immense patio, now a museum of history, and the bourgeois houses, adorned by the column of King Sigismund III.

Lublin Recorriendo la campiña de la provincia de Lublin, alcanzamos la capital cuyo centro histórico se aloja en una colina, tal como estaba en la época medieval: fortificado, con sus puertas monumentales perforadas en la muralla. Al pasar por Brama Krakowska con su alta torre, caminamos por esos callejones donde se sentía vibrar las casas con los ecos de la historia y batallas, la plaza del mercado nos recibió con sus fachadas decoradas, sus cafés y restaurantes, la iglesia dominicana conserva su arquitectura gótica, y desde el mirador teníamos una vista impresionante sobre el imponente castillo. La catedral, de estilo neoclásica conserva unos frescos rococó en “trompe l’oeil”. La puerta Grodzka, con su arco y torreón, marcaba la entrada al barrio judío y la nueva ciudad que data del siglo XVIII es un lugar ideal para ir de compras. Por si situación estratégica, Lublin ha sido siempre deseada por los conquistadores y es ahora la novena ciudad de Polonia, además de ser un gran centro estudiantil, lo que le da su ambiente muy acogedor.
Lublin Travelling through the countryside towards Lublin, we reached the capital where the historic centre hurdles itself amongst the hills, just like in medieval times: fortified, with monumental doors and an imposing wall. After passing by Brama Krakowska, we walked through the alleyways dotted with homes that echoed the sound of past battles; the main plaza welcomed us with decorated façades, restaurants and cafes, the Dominican church conserves its gothic architecture still, and from the balcony we had the most impressive view, standing at the top of the imposing castle. The cathedral, built in a neoclassical style, still conserves its Rococo “tropme l’oeil” frescos. The Gridzka entrances marks the entrance to the Jewish borough, and the new part of the city, built in the 18th century, proved to be an ideal place for shopping. Because of its strategic location, Lublin has forever been desired by conquerors, and it is now the ninth largest city in Poland, as well as being a grand student centre, which gives it a homely ambience.

Zamosc Terminamos nuestro día en Zamosc, un pueblo fundado en 1580 por Jan Zamoyski, siguiendo un diseño renacentista con sus calles rectas, sus fortificaciones y sus edificios de estilo italiano. Krakow Crossing through gorgeous Swintokrzyskie voivodato countryside, we reached Sandomierz. This town, situated at the crossing of the Vístula and San River, has been an important spot since the Middle Ages, and its walled historic centre crowns a hill where the market square is adorned by a Town Hall in the form of a fortress. Its cathedral is impressive, as well as the castle and the church of Saint Jacob that is found on the Jacobean route. Travelling through the hills of Województwo malopolskie (Little Poland), we discovered a wonderful wooden church, homely and adorned with refined icons; then we departed to Cracovia. A testimony of the times of war is Wawel, a fortress mounted on a cliff at the edge of the Vístula River. At its foot one finds the gleaming Stare Miasto, an elegant thimble of ancient alleyways that lead to the Rynek Glówny plaza, also surrounded by a wall, and adjacent to it we find Kazimierz. Crossing the monumental doors, we penetrated into a medieval world that blinds one with its beauty, beginning with the imposing and grandiose cathedral, the place where Polish kings where coroneted.
Cracovia Atravesando la hermosa campiña de Swintokrzyskie voivodato, alcanzamos Sandomierz. Este pueblo, situado al cruce del río Vístula y San, ha sido importante desde la Edad Media, y su centro histórico amurallado corona una loma, en donde la plaza del mercado se adorna de un ayuntamiento en forma de fortaleza. Su catedral es impresionante, así como el castillo y la iglesia de San Jacobo que se encuentra en la ruta jacobea. Recorriendo las colinas de Województwo malopolskie (pequeña Polonia), descubrimos unas hermosas iglesias de madera, acogedoras y adornadas con refinados iconos, hasta llegar a Cracovia. Zamosc We ended our day at Zamosc, a town founded in 1580 by Jan Zamoyski, following a renaissance design: perfectly straight roads, fortifications and buildings inspired by Italian design. We visited the church, the synagogue, the market and feasted on regional cuisine at Muzealna, a restaurant located on a basement and which opens its terraces towards the plaza in the spring. Zamosc is a treasure, a town that has felt the effects of time, yet has not suffered under them. It possesses an exquisite romantic flavour, one that transports travellers to days of yore.

Its interior boasts the chapel of Sigismund, defined as renaissance Tuscan art north of the Alps, whit its golden copula, as well as the tombs adorned by perfect sculptures. The choir, the tomb of Casimir, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, the Royal Crypts and the bell of Saint Sigismund weighing more than 11 tons left us dumbfounded. The castle of Zamek Królewski is a complex mix of styles with a patio decorated with columns and elegant chambers that harbour authentic treasures amongst the extravagant objects in place. From atop the wall we admired the fabulous views of the river and the city. Outside of the centre we were surprised by the Bozego Milosierdzia sanctuary, the Bielany (Klaztor

Kamedunów) monasteries and the Tyniec abbey. We visited fascinating museums such as Sukiennicach, the archeological museum, and the Ciolek, Krzysztofory and Hipolitów Palaces. Cracovia is also a place for fine cuisine, and we enjoyed dished garnished with duck, bitter cabbage, beats, borsh and exquisite sausages accompanied by good polish beer and European wines. Each night, a different concert animated the theaters, the churches, or the private palaces. The shores of the Vístula incited one to take a romantic stroll at the foot of the Wavel, admiring the swams and the ducks being fed by locals and tourists.

Worclaw Once in Worclaw, we stayed at the Sofitel in the main plaza, a sophisticated hotel in the midst of a medieval atmosphere. The terraces filled the plaza with people enjoying beer and appetizers, making for an exquisite and embracing evening. Passing the romantic bridge over the Oder river, we entered the most ancient part of the city, Ostrów Tumski, whose name appears on records of the 10th century in the Amber Route. In the first island, Wyspa Piaskowa, we found the orthodox church of Saint Anne, the university library, and a gothic

Kazimirez is a neighborhood full of history, and we ended our journey enjoying the stillness of the Skalka sanctuary, at times vibrating with galloping of the horses that broke the silence of the night, taking in that moment the romantic past of the city. Not far away one finds Wadowice, the town where Pope John Paul II was born, and further north lays Czestochowa, the pilgrim temple where the Virgin is worshiped. Jasna Góra is a sanctuary built on a hill where a church harbours the image of the Virgin of Czestochowa as well as numerous chapels worthy of recognition.

style church. Crossing the Most Tumski bridge, we arrived to firm land, the centre of Ostrów Tumski, where we found sober-looking houses, bridges that connect islands and a few cathedrals. The Palace of Wroclaw rises majestically at the edge of the river, as well as the immense university built there in 1728 that reflect itself on the tranquil waters, with its four statues that represent philosophy, medicine, mathematics and law.

Sanislaw. As we walked through the alleys, we came into the market square, which has been in place since 1254. In the plaza we found the Bamberka well, the Persephone fountain, and the town hall, rebuilt in 1560. We visited the imposing castle of the Emperor built in the 19th century, and the theater and garden that exuded Polish greatness. Between the Wartand Cybina rivers we found the ancient city of Ostrow Tumski and the cathedral of Saint Paul and Saint Peter. Finally we arrived at Sopot. Poland is a book of baroque paintings, of gothic architecture, or romantic scenes and encounters with people who smile with a bit of sadness in their hearts. They have lived through tumultuous times, reigns of kings and heroes, epic battles. But, the Poles form part of a wonderful and passionate journey. Each of its town and cities is a jewel amongst the vast land. Its beautiful facades vibrating to the rhythm of history and battle. Poland is a jewelry box of emotions.
por los angostos callejones desembocamos en la plaza del mercado que es el centro de la ciudad desde 1254. En la plaza encontramos el poso Bamberka, la fuente de Persephone y el ayuntamiento reconstruido en 1560. Visitamos los restos de la muralla, el imponente castillo del Emperador construido en el siglo XIX, el teatro y su jardín, dando los aires de grandeza a la ciudad cuna de la nación polaca. En la isla entre los ríos Warta y Cybina encontramos la parte más antigua, Ostrow Tumski, con sus casas bajas y su catedral de San Pedro y San Pablo, finalmente llegamos a Sopot. Polonia es un libro de pinturas barrocas, de arquitectura gótica, de escenas románticas y de encuentros con la gente que sonríe con algo de tristeza en el corazón. Han vivido otros momentos de calamidades, epopeyas de reyes o héroes, amores épicos y batallas sangrientas pero los polacos son partes de un maravilloso viaje pasional al filo de los callejones, ciudades y murallas marcadas con sentimentalismo. Primer día Al llegar nos instalamos en el maravilloso Riad Fes, un antiguo palacio dentro de la medina que ha sido restaurado por Chakir Sefrioui. Penetramos en los muros decorados de zeliges (azulejos compuestos por piezas recortadas y acopladas para reproducir motivos geométricos), estuco y madera labrada. Observamos la inmensa ciudad amurallada de donde surgen los minaretes de las mezquitas, de entre los que destaca el de la Karaouina, el más alto. La voz del muecín se resbalaba sobre las colinas que rodean la ciudad, el sol bajaba en el horizonte, y el rumor de la medina subía como música medieval. En las colinas se observaban los antiguos fuertes o Borj, las tumbas de la dinastía merinida y a lo lejos se adivinaban los montes del Atlas Mediano. Nos sentamos en el bar L’Alcazar con sus hermosas columnas que bordean el patio adornado con su larga fuente, antes de degustar la deliciosa cena en el restaurante L’Ambre en el Riad, un menú diseñado por Fouzia Sefrioui, compuesto de Basti’la (pie de fila con pichones y almendras), un tajine de pollo con limón y aceitunas (cocido en una olla de barro en forma de sombrero) y los deliciosos pasteles como cuernos de gacela y macarrón. Nuestros cuerpos sentían vibrar la música, los ecos de la historia, las voces de los rezos y el canto del muecín, mientras disfrutaban de los sabores delicados.
First day On arrival we settled into the wonderful Riad Fes, a former palace in the medina that has been restored by Chakir Sefrioui. We penetrated the walls decorated with zeliges (tiles composed by cut pieces and coupled to reproduce geometric patterns), stucco and carved wood. We observed the vast walled city where mosques minarets arise, most notably that of the Karaouine, the highest one. The voice of the muezzin was sliding on the hills surrounding the city, the sun was setting on the horizon, and the murmur from the medina came up like medieval music. In the hills we could observe the old forts or Borj, the tombs of the Marinid dynasty and in the distance the Middle Atlas mountains were visible. We sat at the bar L’Alcazar with its beautiful columns that line the courtyard adorned with a long fountain, before enjoying a delicious dinner at the restaurant L’Ambre at Riad, a menu designed by Fouzia Sefrioui composed of Basti’la (pie of filo pastry with pigeon and almonds), a tajine of chicken with lemon and olives (cooked in a hat shaped clay pot) and the delicious pastries like gazelle horns and macaroni. Our bodies felt the music vibrate, the echoes of history, the voices of the prayers and the singing of the muezzin, while enjoyed the delicate flavors.
any encounters are fulfilled in the mysterious winding streets where the houses are touching, they lean toward each other, and are joined by curious bridges forming suspicious tunnels, which are animated with happy or awkward impromptu meetings. The medina of Fes is a crossroad, a perpetual trail of streets, which becomes lost and surprising with the opportunity to find itself again and rediscover the exit.

Segundo día A la mañana siguiente salimos acompañados por un guía para no perdernos en esos callejones medievales. Comenzamos por la muralla que protege las dos ciudades, Fes El Bali (el viejo) y Fes Jdid (el nuevo), y en ella se abren las monumentales puertas (Bab) que permiten el acceso al mundo enigmático de la medina. Bab Boujeloud, decorada de zeliges, es la puerta azul que vibra por el paso constante de la gente hacia las dos calles principales, Tala’a Kbira y Tala’a Sghira, en donde se encuentran los comercios y por la cual transita una impresionante muchedumbre en perpetuo movimiento. Fes es un inmenso arcón donde surgen los más sorprendentes edificios: el museo Nejjarine, un antiguo “fondouk” (caravanseray, estancia para caravanas) con decorado de madera al lado de una hermosa fuente; la Zaouïa Moulay Idriss II, mausoleo del hijo del fundador, importante lugar de peregrinación; la madraza El Attarine, construida en 1325 con un elegante patio vestido de zeliges, estuco y cedro labrados; la mezquita Karaouina y su universidad, reconocida como uno de los mejores centros de estudios del Islam; el Fondouk Tetuano, fundado en el siglo XIV por los mercaderes de Tetuán, con sus balcones de mucharabie (celosía).
Second day The next morning we went walking with a guide in order to not get lost in these medieval alleys. We begun with the wall that protects the two cities, Fes El Bali (the old) and Fes Jdid (new) and it opens the monumental gates (Bab) to allow access to the enigmatic world of the medina. Bab Boujeloud, decorated in zelig is the blue door which vibrates by the constant transit of people into the two main streets, Tala’a Kbira and Tala’a Sghira, where the shops are located and by which an impressive crowd in perpetual motion passes through. Fes is a huge chest where the most amazing buildings arise: Nejjarine Museum, a former “fondouk” (caravanserai, station for caravans) with decorated wood next to a beautiful fountain, the Moulay Idriss II Zaouïa, son of the founder’s mausoleum, an important place of pilgrimage, the El Attarine madrassa, built in 1325 with a stylish yard dressed with zeliges, stucco and carved cedar, the Karaouine mosque and university, renowned as one of the best Islamic studies centers, the Tetuan Fondouk, founded in the fourteenth century by the merchants of Tetuan, with its “mucharabie” (lattice) balconies.
Tercera noche Nuestro tercer día lo dedicamos a Fes El Jdid. Entramos por Bab Dekkaken y paseamos por sus callejones cubiertos, hasta descubrir el barrio judío, o Mellah, con sus típicas ventanas que abren a la calle y la sinagoga Habarim. Alcanzamos el gran Mechouar o plaza del palacio donde tienen lugar las ceremonias oficiales y los grandes eventos, limitado por la entrada monumental de Dar El Makhazen (Palacio real), con su suntuosa entrada maravillosamente restaurada, puertas de bronce cincelado y techos de tejas verdes.
Third night Our third day is dedicated to Fes El Jdid. We entered and walked through the Bab Dekkaken covered alleys to discover the Mellah, the Jewish quarter with its typical windows that open onto the street and the Habarim synagogue. We reached the great Mechouar or square of the palace where official ceremonies and the great events are held, limited by the monumental entrance to Dar El Makhazen (Royal Palace), with its sumptuous entrance beautifully restored with its zeliges, carved bronze doors and green tiled ceilings.
Descansamos un rato para disfrutar de la excelente cocina de Dar Roumana, que se sirve en una hermosa casa tradicional de Fes. Gozamos la sopa marroquí Harira con lentejas y cordero y el tajine de res con ciruelas pasas y almendras. Para terminar nuestro día, fuimos a visitar a los alfareros y descubrir su maravilloso trabajo que constituye la cerámica típica de Fes, famosa desde hace más de 1000 años.
Fourth night The next day we left early to Meknes, the imperial city about 65 km, surrounded by its wall that adorns the hill. We discovered Bab Lakhmis and Bab Berdaïne, two richly decorated monumental gates of the seventeenth century, and went to visit the former royal palace Dar El Makhzen which was the palace of Moulay Idriss, founder of Meknes. We continued the visit of Bab Mansour, the imposing and magnificent door decorated with zelig, built in 1732 by Moulay Ismael, and considered the largest in Morocco and North Africa. We visited the Nejjarine mosque dating from the tenth century, the Bouanania madrassa founded in the fourteenth century, which boasts a beautiful courtyard decorated with zelig, finely carved stucco and wood, consisting of 26 classrooms and its prayer room. Then we could admire the perfect plan of the city of Moulay Idriss, the wonderful Roman mosaics depicting gods and scenes of everyday life, the triumphal arch of Caracalla, the forum, the basilica and the temple of Jupiter. We returned to the Riad Fes and dined that night at Maison Blanche, the branch of the famous Parisian restaurant of the Avenue Montaigne by Jacques and Laurent Pourcel.
Cuarta noche Al siguiente día, salimos temprano a Meknes (o Mequinez), la ciudad imperial a unos 65 km, rodeada por su muralla que adorna la colina. Descubrimos Bab Lakhmis y Bab Berdaïne, dos monumentales puertas ricamente decoradas del siglo XVII, y entramos para visitar el antiguo palacio real Dar El Makhzen que fue el palacio de Moulay Idriss, fundador de Meknes. Seguimos con la visita de Bab Mansour, la imponente y fastuosa puerta, construida en 1732 por Moulay Ismael y considerada como la más grande de Marruecos y África del Norte. Visitamos la mezquita Néjjarine que data del siglo X, la madraza Bouanania fundada en el siglo XIV y que luce un hermoso patio con su decorado de zeliges, estuco y madera finamente labrada, compuesta de 26 aulas y su sala de rezos. Posteriormente pudimos admirar el plan perfecto de la ciudad de Moulay Idriss, los maravillosos mosaicos romanos que representan los dioses y escenas de la vida cotidiana, el arco de triunfo de Caracalla, el foro, la basílica y el templo de Júpiter. Regresamos al Riad Fes y cenamos esa noche en Maison Blanche, la sucursal del famoso restaurante parisino de la avenue Montaigne de Jacques y Laurent Pourcel.

We rested a while in order to enjoy the excellent cuisine in Dar Roumana, served in a beautiful traditional house in Fes. We enjoyed the Harira Moroccan soup with lentils and lamb and beef tajine with prunes and almonds. To finish our day, we visited the potters and discovered their wonderful work that is typical of Fez pottery, famous for over 1000 years.

Quinta noche Al despertar, decidimos ir a descubrir las joyas escondidas de la ciudad: Riad Fes es la puerta de entrada al pasado para vivir, sentir el placer de la dulzura del ambiente árabe. Sus puertas, decoradas por clavos y el símbolo que representa la mano de Fátima para la buena suerte, se abrieron para nosotros sobre los patios escondidos o jardines misteriosos. En el riad El Mokri (hoy centro de las artes), un misterioso zaguán nos llevó al patio que a su vez daba paso a un bello salón con unas ventanas que abren sobre una divina vista de Fes y sus minaretes. Terminando el día nos relajamos de nuevo en el hammam para sentirnos revitalizados y vibrar al ritmo de la vida en Fes, pero antes cenamos en la Mezzanine, un restaurante-bar donde encontramos la jet set de Fes, con una comida deliciosa y un ambiente fascinante. Después decidimos visitar las discotecas Vip y Felix Club para descubrir la vida nocturna de la Fes tradicional. Fes se entregó a nosotros y abrió sus jardines secretos y sus palacetes encantados. Sus callejones interminables con mercados ruidosos, coloridos, congestionados y alegres fueron un enigma para nosotros. Fes se ilustra con un proverbio árabe, “desde lejos te alcanzan los ojos de él que llenas los deseos”.
Fifth night Waking we decided to discover the hidden gems of the city: Riad Fes is the gateway to the past to live, to feel the pleasure of the sweetness of the Arab environment. Its doors are decorated with nails and the symbol that represents the hand of Fatima for good luck, were opened to us over the mysterious hidden courtyards and gardens. At riad El Mokri (now an arts center), a mysterious doorway led us into the courtyard, which in turn gave way to a beautiful room with few windows that open on a divine view of Fes and its minarets. Finishing the day we relaxed again in the hammam to feel revitalized and to vibrate to the rhythm of life in Fes, before dining in the Mezzanine, a restaurant-bar where we found the Fes’ jet set, with a delicious meal and a fascinating ambiance. Then we decided to visit the Vip and Felix clubs to discover the nightlife of traditional Fes. Fes has given itself to us and opened their secret gardens and enchanted palaces. Its endless alleys with noisy, colorful, crowded and lively markets were an enigma to us. Fes is illustrated with an Arab proverb, “from a distance you are reached by the eyes of him who fulfill the desires”.

a serie Predator de la naviera Sunseeker tiene en su haber embarcaciones de lujo que han sido reconocidas incluso con premios a nivel internacional que dan cuenta del alto nivel en construcción, diseño y funcionalidad que ostentan. Y su más reciente lanzamiento, el Predator 115, se vislumbra como un digno sucesor en el linaje de los cazadores del mar. Construido en conformidad con las especificaciones RINA, una clasificación especial para las embarcaciones de lujo, el Predator 115 es ejemplo de optimización en el uso del espacio, eficiencia y un alto nivel de calidad. El 115 posee varias características originales del galardonado Predator 130, incluso a pesar de tener 15 pies menos de eslora. En total, de proa a popa, el 115 mide 34.5 metros, mientras que su manga alcanza los 7.39 metros. Su aspecto general es el clásico de esta gama, con una proa larga y afilada, pero con la diferencia de que brinda un mayor espacio en el exterior de la cubierta e, incluso con la diferencia de tamaño, cuenta con habitaciones para 10 invitados y cinco miembros de la tripulación. he Predator series from the shipping company Sunseeker is credited with luxury boats that have been recognized even with international awards that reflect the highest level in construction, design and functionality they feature. And his latest release, the Predator 115, is seen as a worthy successor in the lineage of the hunters of the sea. Built in accordance with RINA specifications, a special classification for luxury boats, the Predator 115 is an example of optimum use of space, efficiency and high quality. En general, el flybridge del 115 puede ser disfrutado a cualquier hora del día, dependiendo de si se escoge utilizar o prescindir del hardtop. En el interior predomina una decoración agradable y elegante, de amueblados con acabados de madera clara, sin duda otorgándole un toque más familiar. El salón principal puede contar con el espacio que el propietario indique, esto al otorgarle mayor o menor espacio en el exterior. Al ampliarlo, el bar cambia de ubicación, al trasladarse del extremo de la popa al de la proa. Asimismo, las puertas que rodean al salón pueden ser corredizas y contar además con rompeolas con bisagra que representan espacios para admirar increíbles panorámicas del océano. En el exterior de la cubierta principal se localiza un lounge equipado con una mesa, sillones y un servicio de bebidas en el bar. El puente de mando principal también se encuentra en este nivel, y está equipado con lo último en tecnología de navegación. Frente a la silla del navegador se encuentran cuatro monitores que informan el estado de la nave, además de otros instrumentos. Las propulsión del 115 se debe a sus dos turbinas, ubicadas dentro del barco, pero aisladas con el fin de evitar ruidos indeseados en el resto de las habitaciones del barco. Éstas le permiten cruzar los mares a una velocidad máxima de 30 nudos.

The main deck also houses the master stateroom, and occupies the length of the beam, making this room the largest of the whole yacht. Here, the owner is guaranteed privacy, comfort and great spaces. It provides a big screen LCD, a sofa and a desk, as well as continuing with the light wood finishes style. The bathroom has a spacious bathtub, and separated shower and toilet. In the other hand, the four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, two of them with two double beds and two twin beds. Each of the rooms has private baths, as well as large windows which allow a generous amount of natural light. The Predator 115 has a fairly large storage capacity. Located in the lower deck aft, the garage can store two jet skis and a boat of at least five meter in length which can be launched using a hydraulic platform located at the stern. The propulsion of the 115 is due to its two turbines, located inside the boat, but isolated to prevent unwanted noise in the other rooms of the ship. These allow it to cross the seas to a maximum speed of 30 knots.

l mundo de los súper yates tiene nombres y representantes bien establecidos. No obstante, no es poco común que una naviera de prestigio se arriesgue a ingresar a este selecto y competitivo grupo. Éste es el caso de Azimut, que además de construir un gran ejemplar entre las embarcaciones de lujo de más de 100 pies, logró crear amplios espacios interiores. Hablamos por supuesto del Azimut Leonardo 100. En lo que representa una verdadera obra de arte, el Leonardo 100 de Azimut guarda un perfecto balance entre proporción, espacio y diseño, esto a la escala de un gran yate. Con 30.45 metros de eslora y 6.8 metros de manga, su casco luce tonalidades entre las cubiertas blancas y la parte inferior en azul oscuro, creando un elegante contraste. Las primeras características que sobresalen del yate son las grandes áreas exteriores que se encuentran a disposición del dueño y de los invitados, además de que las divisiones que usualmente se encuentran en embarcaciones de este tamaño han sido removidas, con el fin de otorgar una mayor sensación de espacio. Created by recognized yacht designer Stefano Righini, the outside aspect of Leonardo 100 is not dissimilar to the rest of the Azimut fleet, although the larger size allows to display its lines in a much more imposing way than their predecessors. With 30.45 meters of length and a draft of 6.8 meters, her hull displays white shades on the decks and a freeboard covered in dark blue, creating an elegant contrast. The first features of the yacht that stand out are the large outdoor areas, totally available to the owner and guests. Also, the divisions that are usually found on boats this size have been removed, in order to give a greater space sense. The flybridge is distinguished by its distinctive shape, and has a dining area, sun beds and jacuzzi, which are protected by a modern fiberglass and crystal glass roof. The design of the roof, instead of breaking with the rest of the yacht (as often happens with super yachts), conjugates with the hull to show off the rest of the fine lines that make up the Leonardo 100. Towards the bow, near the railing, a third dinner can be found, ideal for breakfast or just to soak up the sun while enjoying a drink, creating a much more hospitable environment abroad. Additionally, the bow has a secondary command console. As with the exterior of the yacht, the interiors also have open spaces, but with greater freedom in the design style. On the other hand, the lower deck accommodates the bedrooms, where the organization of each one of them is optimized. The master stateroom, located in the heart of the ship, is the room with more room throughout the house, has two armchairs, wardrobe closet and a spacious vanity area with double sink and shower. Similarly, VIP cabins offer a twin bed and two with double beds. All rooms benefit from large windows that let horizontal natural light in. he simple mention of the word ‘Shark’ unleashes an infinite amount of emotions. In some areas of the world, as would be the case in the Polynesian Islands, they were worshiped as gods; in certain regions of Mexico, we treated them as assassins. It is one of the few animals capable of awakening terror in our hearts and, at the same time, a reverential respect. From my particular point of view, sharks are legendary beings, incredible predators, whose bodies, formed by classical and hydrodynamic lines, have certainly not evolved much over the course of 400 million years. In fact, I dare say that much of these species have attained the perfect physique necessary to survive in the oceans for millions of years to come; this, of course, if humans allow it. When I took part of the wonderful world of SCUBA diving, my main concern was to find myself face-to-face with a shark, given that the references I had of these were quite incorrect: I was told that they were man-eaters, that they attacked without the slightest provocation, or that they would wait for someone to enter their dominions only to then be devoured instantly. Es uno de los pocos animales capaces de despertar el miedo en nuestros corazones y a la vez infundir un respeto reverencial. Desde mi particular punto de vista, los tiburones son seres legendarios, depredadores increíbles, cuyos cuerpos, de líneas clásicas e hidrodinámicas, han evolucionado muy poco a lo largo de 400 millones de años. De hecho, me atrevo a decir que muchas de estas especies casi han alcanzado la perfección física necesaria para sobrevivir en los océanos otros varios millones de años; esto, claro está, si los humanos lo permitimos. Cuando me inicié en el maravilloso mundo del buceo, mi principal preocupación era encontrarme con un tiburón, pues las referencias que tenía de este ser eran malísimas: me decían que comían gente, que atacaban sin razón alguna, o que esperaban a que alguien tocara sus dominios del mar para ser devorado al instante. casi místicos. Si de casualidad uno hacía su aparición, parecía tener más miedo de mí que yo de él, y al menor movimiento mío desaparecía con la misma rapidez con la que aparecía. Mi miedo se convirtió en curiosidad ¿Cómo es que esos animales maléficos no venían hacia mí para devorarme? Desde entonces, he podido viajar a otros lugares del mundo en busca de estos especímenes y me encuentro con animales increíbles, bellos e impresionantes. Estar en el agua con tiburones es, para mí, lo más cercano que podemos llegar a estar de la naturaleza en su máxima expresión. Desafortunadamente en el mundo entero (México no es la excepción), los tiburones están desapareciendo rápidamente, y son pocos los lugares donde los podemos observar en su estado natural. La sobreexplotación, su mal manejo como recurso, la falta de vigilancia oportuna y real, así como la falta de aplicación de vedas, han llevado a esta especie casi a la extinción (se llegaron a pescar más de 100 millones de tiburones en un año). Tanto hemos mermado a la especie, que la industria de la pesquería de tiburón está pasando por un mal momento. Pero otra industria está naciendo, la de observar a estos fantásticos seres marinos. Para lograr atraerlos, es necesario el uso de carnadas, pues al tenerlos cerca es cuando los podemos estudiar y conocer un poco más de ellos. No obstante, este método no es del agrado de algunos científicos.
theless, I did not see on my submarine runs any of these quasi-mystical beings. If by chance one made an appearance, it appeared that it was more afraid of me than it of I, and the slightest movement of my own made it disappear as quickly as it had shown itself. My fear morphed into curiosity. How is it possible that these evil creatures did not came to devour me? Since then, I have been able to travel all over the world in search of these specimens, and I find myself with incredible animals, majestic and impressive. To be in the water with sharks is, for me, the closest I can get to natures full expression. Unfortunately, sharks are disappearing from the world’s oceans (Mexico is no exception) at a rapid pace, and there are few places where they can be observed in its natural state. Overfishing, mismanagement of resources, the lack of real and thorough vigilance has driven this species almost to the brink of extinction (more than 100 million sharks were fished last year). We have trampled the species to such an extent, that the shark fishing industry is undergoing a terribly rough time. Yet another industry is rising, one that concentrates on observing these fantastic marine animals. To attract them, it is necessary to use bait, given that once we have them close to us we can study them and know more about them. Nonetheless, this method is not entirely approved by a number of scientists.

In my experience feeding sharks, I can comment that, to this date, we have not seen any dramatic change in the sharks when they are fed. Of course, always the one who feeds them is an expert, who knows their proper diet (almost always topped with fish or bonito), you must use a steel mesh suit and gloves, bear in mind which animal is more hungry, observe their movement patterns and behavior, always be alert and assisted by a safety diver, and not feed them more than it’s necessary. Before starting the activity, it is imperative to listen to the dive and emergency plan, safety and potential risks. If we comply with each of these requirements, I assure you, dear reader, you can enjoy some of the best dives of his life. Based on my experience with bull sharks in Playa del Carmen, I can assure that their behavior does not change almost anything, because at the end of his season in this area, the animal disappears as fast as it arrived. Notably, when you make contact with one of these beautiful animals, your perspective about them changes completely, and instead of destroying them, want to protect them. Many places in the world understand now this concept; and besides the protection of the species, it also signifies an improvement to the economy of the region.
En mi experiencia alimentando tiburones, puedo comentar que, hasta la fecha, no hemos visto ningún cambio drástico en ellos cuando se les alimenta. Por supuesto que siempre el que les da de comer es un experto, quien sabe que se deben alimentar con la dieta adecuada (casi siempre es con pescado coronado o bonito); se debe usar un traje de malla de acero y guantes; tener en cuenta cual es el animal que tiene más hambre; observar sus patrones de movimiento, así como su comportamiento, siempre estar atento y asistido por un buzo de seguridad, y no dar comida de más. Antes de iniciar la actividad, es imprescindible escuchar el plan de buceo y de emergencias, medidas de seguridad, así como los posibles riesgos. Si cumplimos con cada uno de estos requisitos, le aseguro, amigo lector, que podrá disfrutar de unos de los mejores buceos de su vida. Por mi vivencia con los tiburones toros de Playa del Carmen, puedo asegurar que su comportamiento no cambia casi nada, pues al terminar su temporada en esta zona, el animal desaparece tan rápido como llegó. Cabe destacar que, cuando haces contacto con uno de estos bellos animales, tu visión sobre ellos cambia por completo, y en vez de destruirlos, quieres protegerlos. En muchos lugares del mundo ya se entiende este concepto, que además de proteger a la especie, representa una mejora a la economía de la zona.

En su revista Espacio Profundo, el maestro Iván Salazar nos muestra los siguientes datos. La industria del buceo estima que se efectúen entre 2.5 a 4 millones de inmersiones con tiburones en 300 lugares distribuidos en 40 países. Si cada buceador paga un promedio de 70 USD por inmersión, el valor total de este producto turístico-científico es de 180 a 300 millones de dólares. Tan sólo en las Bahamas, el alimentar tiburones deja una derrama económica de 65 millones de dólares al año. En las Islas Maldivas, la observación de tiburones por los buzos es una actividad muy importante; existen 16 operadores de buceo que ofrecen el buceo con tiburones y utilizan al menos 39 resorts, y dejan una derrama económica, según el ministerio de turismo de 7.4 millones de dólares al año. En contraste, la pesca de tiburón dejó 1.2 millones. En Playa del Carmen, México, se calcula que unos 90 buzos diarios visitan a los tiburones, y cada buzo paga un promedio de 90 USD. Por cuatro meses que dura la temporada, nos dará un total de 1.08 millones de dólares. Esto se contrapone a lo que le pagaron a un pescador que en su pesca atrapó 25 tiburones, todas hembras y preñadas, y por la cual consiguió un ingreso total de 130,000 pesos. Es ridículo. Siento una profunda tristeza en el solo hecho de pensar que animales tan majestuosos y, que por muchos años consideramos como príncipes del mar, se vuelvan mendigos al pedir a gritos que se les proteja por todos los medios posibles. Para concluir quiero recalcar que vale más un pez vivo que un pescado, que las especies que no dejen dinero a la comunidad están propensas a desaparecer casi de manera inmediata. Ojalá, amigo lector, puedas ayudarnos a proteger a esta especie que no ha hecho nada malo, más que existir durante casi 400 millones de años.
In the magazine “Espacio Profundo”, the master Iván Salazar shows us the following data. nmarcado por la belleza espectacular de un bellísimo amanecer en el Mar de Cortés, en la zona de Bella Vista en Baja California Sur, arrancó el Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament. A las 7:00 am las 61 embarcaciones que participaron en este torneo, que tuvo lugar del 27 al 29 de julio en la siempre hermosa locación del hotel Bella Vista, se encontraban listas para recibir la bengala de salida; al momento de distinguir la señal convenida, las distintas tripulaciones decidieron qué rumbo tomar para dirigirse a la posición que creían les traería la mejor pesca. Dentro del contexto de este torneo, el pez a conseguir puede ser el marlín, el dorado o el atún, especies que alcanzan tallas considerables en esta zona; los mejores pescadores del mundo se reunieron bajo un clima ideal que nos permitió gozar de un verdadero espectáculo. Como siempre la pesca es incierta hasta que tienes al pez en la línea; el primer día de pesca muy temprano, alrededor de las 11:00 am cuando todavía no acababan de salir las embarcaciones, nos sorprendieron Chucky Van Wormer y su equipo a bordo de La Hielera & Co, al aparecer con un marlín azul de 557 libras en la báscula, con el que pusieron a sudar frío a todos los demás competidores, ya que no hubo marlín que les ganara; esto generó un gran catch & release, ya que desde hace varios años se usan los anzuelos circulares, lo que le da más de un 90% de probabilidad de supervivencia al pez liberado.

lways at the forefront in aircraft development, Bombardier launches Learjet 85, an aircraft that represents a real breakthrough in speed, construction and efficiency. This is because it integrates technological innovations and a great design aesthetic, giving rise to a new flying experience. The aerodynamic configuration of Learjet 85 was tested in wind and ice tunnels, using advanced techniques of fluid dynamics, through which the plane was proven to guarantee superior safety conditions to higher speeds with lower fuel consumption as well as reducing the amount of noise. Both the fuselage and wings are made of carbon composite materials. This makes it the first business jet whose structure is based on these compounds, which will increase passenger comfort, reduce the thickness of the wall, maximizing the volume of the cabin and provide more freedom in the placement of windows, as well as the advantage of requiring much less maintenance than to existing aircraft. In the other hand, the cockpit has the latest technology in navigation: integrates three 15inch LCD high-resolution displays, the synthetic vision module, which allows a clearer observation of obstacles and the environment in general, a window system to ease specific operations for the pilot, and an advanced interface that optimizes piloting performance. The interiors are much more spacious than other aircraft of its size, and provide an efficient distribution of the main cabin. It features LED illumination with specific parameters for work or relaxation, as well as comfortable reclining seats between which there is a space of 76 inches for more passenger

The automotive world is no exception and even though there are masterpieces that will not lose their status, new proposals are proof of how far the world class luxury brands are willing to go in order to excel and offer speed, comfort and luxury. To celebrate 100 years of existence, U.S. firm Chevrolet could not choose a better commemorative model: The Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition, the first of a limited edition of this model based on the Corvette Z06’s design, including improvements and details that refer to Chevrolet’s centennial celebration. Meanwhile, Bentley updates its Continental GT, a luxury coupé launched for the first time in 2003. The changes in the car are mainly focused on making the car look subtly more aerodynamic, including more comfortable and refined interior, as well as adding the option of installing a more powerful engine. The german company Mercedes-Benz also bets on evolution and launches the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a fine piece of engineering that is a direct descendant from the 300SL Gullwing, incorporating more modern elements in the classic grand tourer setup. Among these innovations, the SLS-AMG includes equipped interior and the first engine developed by the renowned subsidiary AMG.

n 2003, la casa británica Bentley lanzó el que sería el reemplazo del Continental R y T, el Bentley Continental GT, que a lo largo de ocho años fue la base de varios sub modelos que incluían un convertible y un supersport¸ entre otros, además de ser un coche admirado por su belleza y funcionalidad. Después de casi una década, Bentley decide crear la segunda generación de este automóvil, que promete ser incluso más atractivo y poderoso que su antecesor. No obstante, y de acuerdo a la firma de Crewe, el nuevo Continental GT no es tan sólo una copia mejorada del coche del mismo nombre. El aspecto exterior del Continental GT no sufrió grandes modificaciones, aunque algunos detalles fueron mejorados. El frente del coche luce una parrilla casi vertical, dándole un porte diferente al de la versión 2003. Las luces traseras se apegan a las curvas que marcan las salpicaderas sobre las llantas traseras, dándole un aspecto más aerodinámico. Los interiores fueron creados con el mayor cuidado y con materiales de alta calidad. Nada en el tablero del Continental GT resulta ser la imitación de lo que aparenta; los acabados de madera y acero son de madera y acero. n 2003, the British firm Bentley launched the replacement of the Continental R and T: The Bentley Continental GT, which over eight years has been the basis of several sub models including a convertible and a super sport, besides being an admired car for its beauty and functionality. After nearly a decade, Bentley decided to create the second generation of this car, which promises to be even more attractive and powerful than its predecessor. However, according to the firm from Crewe, the new Continental GT is not only an improved copy of the car bearing the same name. The Continental GT’s exterior didn’t suffer major changes, although some details were enhanced. The front of the car has an almost vertical grid giving it a totally different look from the 2003 version. The rear lights adhere to the curves that mark the fenders on the rear wheels, giving it a more aerodynamic look. The interiors were created with the utmost care and high quality materials. Nothing on the board of Continental GT proves to be an imitation of what appears, the steel and wood finishes are made out of wood and steel. The seats have heating and massage systems, and rear passenger seats have 2 inches of extra space. It also has acoustic crystals, floor protectors and anti-vibrating panels that eliminate unwanted noise. The engine will be the same six-liter W12 that used its predecessor but with improvements. However, Bentle announced that this new generation will also offer the option of a four-liter V8 engine. This machine will allow the Continental GT reach a 319 km/h top speed.

his year, Mercedes-Benz draws upon its years of automotive experience and tradition to create a masterpiece: The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG designed to be a spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. The lines of the car are defined by a large hood of almost two meters long, which enhances its aggressive and aerodynamic look, this is achieved through details like vents behind the front wheels, the gull-wing doors or dramatic curves and lines that make the SLS AMG look stunning even when parked. The interiors have heated leather seats with lumbar support, and adjustable arm supports. For its part, the board has a LCD display and several indicators. Although there is no rear seat there is instead a large luggage space fully customized. Among other options available to the client are a Bang and Olufsen sound system, reverse camera, Parktronic system and aluminum sport pedals. The 6.3-liter V8 DOHC engine was manufactured by the Mercedes-Benz subsidiary AMG, and it is the first to be fully developed by this firm. It has a 571 horse power capacity and 650 Nm torque, giving it the power to reach 317 kilometers per hour. The engine included a new intake system, valve train and camshafts. The transmission is called AMG Speedshift DC 7, with automatic 7 gears and dual clutch.

• La gente de Polonia es amigable, y los visitantes generalmente son bien recibidos. El saludo de mano es común. Si se visita la casa de alguien, es costumbre llevar flores, preferentemente en números impares. La religión católica forma parte de la vida diaria de los polacos, por lo que las críticas o bromas religiosas no son bien vistas. • El transporte a través de Polonia puede ser en tren o por autopistas, mediante autobuses, renta de autos o, dentro de las ciudades, taxis. La red de trenes InterCity cuenta con rutas que van a las ciudades más importantes del país, y ofrece un servicio barato y eficiente. El tránsito circula a la derecha, y se utilizan señalizaciones internacionales. Las gasolineras que se ubican en los caminos generalmente están abiertas las 24 horas del día. • Aunque la tarifa de hoteles en Polonia no es barata, la comida sí lo es. Gas stations are generally open 24 hours a day. • Although hotel fares are steep, the food in Poland is not. This will give travellers the opportunity to taste and important part of the Polish cuisine which, according to experts, is considered one of the finest of the world. One must consider that the Polish people place a high-regard on food, especially when it comes to the size of meals. • As well as offering museums, historical sites and other places of interests, Poland also features a vibrant nightlife, mainly in the capital, which is diverse and thus provides many an option for travellers. These can range from fashionable nightclubs to homely pubs.

• El castillo Wawel es uno de los sitios más representativos de Polonia. Del siglo XI al XVII fungió como la sede de la realeza polaca, pero actualmente es un museo que cuenta con algunas decoraciones originales de aquellos siglos y una amplia colección de objetos históricos, como la exhibición “Lost Wawel“, que gira alrededor de las ruinas de la iglesia más antigua de Polonia. • En el Old Town, restaurado después de la debacle causada por la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se encuentra el Market Square, un sitio demarcado por casas coloridas, restaurantes y tiendas de diversos giros, y que generalmente está repleto de turistas que buscan hacerse de souvenirs y otros objetos de interés que se venden ahí. • Otro de los grandes atractivos culturales de Polonia es el Lazienki Park. Dentro de este amplio espacio, se encuentra el famoso Lazienki Palace o Palacio en el Agua, así como el monumento a Chopin y el Lazienki Garden, en donde las tardes dominicales se embellecen con conciertos al aire libre en los que se interpreta música de Chopin o, en ocasiones, otros géneros como el jazz. • El Castillo Real de Varsovia es una de las construcciones históricas más importantes de Polonia. La sorprendente conservación de muchos de los interiores, incluyendo decoración y artefactos, se debe al trabajo de restauración del que fue objeto tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, con el fin de recuperar el baluarte que representa esta construcción. • La Iglesia de St. Mary es una sorprendente obra de arte y otra de las joyas de Cracovia. Uno de sus mayores atractivos es el Retablo de Veit Loss, elaborado por el escultor germánico del mismo nombre, que con 12 metros de largo y 11 de alto es el más grande de Europa.
• The Wawel castle is one of the most representative sites in Poland. From the 11th to the 17th century it served as the seat of the Polish Monarchy, yet it now functions as a museum that features decorations from the previous centuries as well as an ample collection of historical objects, as is the “Lost Wawel” exhibition, which revolves around the ruins of the most ancient Polish church. • In the Old Town, restored after the debacle caused by the Second World War, is found the Market Square, a site ravished by colourful houses, restaurants, in various boutiques and stores, and which is generally packed with tourists that seek to buy souvenirs and other objects of interest. • Another great cultural attraction of Poland is the Lazienki Park. Inside this ample space one finds the famous Lazienki Palace, or the ‘Palace of Water’, as well as monument to Chopin and the Lazienki Garden, in which one can enjoy classical and jazz concerts on Sunday evenings. • The Royal Castle at Warsaw is one of the most important historical buildings in Poland. The surprising conservation of much of the interiors, including decorations and art crafts is due to the restoration work undertaken after the Second World War with the purpose of recuperating the bulwark that represents this construction. • The church of St. Mary is a wondrous work of art and another jewel of Cracovia. One of the main attractions here is the altarpiece of Veit Loss, elaborated by the Germanic sculptor of the same name, which measures 12 metres long and 11 metres high, making it the largest in Europe.
