SPRING FORWARD: Refresh Your Landscape and Garden
As snow melts and days lengthen, spring invites us outdoors to refresh our landscapes and gardens. Whether growing vegetables, adding annuals, or maintaining a lush lawn, the season offers a chance to rejuvenate your surroundings.
Planning and Planting Your Flowerbeds
A well-designed flowerbed enhances your landscape. Combine perennials and annuals for vibrant displays. Hardy perennials like hydrangeas, daylilies, and black-eyed Susans should be planted early in spring. Consider sunlight needs when choosing plants— coreopsis thrives in full sun, while hostas are perfect for shade. Ensure proper care with regular watering, mulching, and fertilizing.
Prevent weeds by hand-pulling and using landscape fabric, and control pests naturally with beneficial insects. For more persistent issues, spot-treat with organic sprays.
Growing Your Own Vegetable Garden
A vegetable garden provides fresh produce and a deeper connection to nature. Coolseason crops can be planted in early spring, while warm-season crops should wait until after the last frost. Companion planting, like basil with tomatoes, can deter pests and enhance flavor. To protect your plants, introduce beneficial insects and use row covers.
Ensure your garden receives 6-8 hours of sunlight, and water consistently—about an inch per week.
Creating a Lush Lawn
A green lawn is the foundation of a great landscape. Aerate your lawn, overseed bare patches, and apply pre-emergent weed killers in early April. Regular mowing at the correct height helps maintain a healthy lawn.
Spring Into Action
Spring is the time to create a beautiful outdoor space. Whether tending a vegetable patch or planting vibrant flowers, your efforts will flourish throughout the season. Get outside and enjoy the fresh air—your garden awaits!

The only nances we provide is seed and fertilizer cost. Typically each farm needs $1,300 in seed & fertilizer. Provide irrigation - $4,500.

This program helps ensure elementary age kids attend school and are able to stay attentive during class. School Kitchen construction: $6,000.
