Blue Skywalkers launching in the Free State
FREESTATE: Blue Skywalkers is a team comprising of hundreds of workers from various companies in all nine (9) provinces of South Africa including some in Southern African countries, such as Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique and others. The team uses tourism as an integral part in bringing about unity among the workers, building good relations at the work places, building friendship among the workers from various back rounds and cultures. All these combined create an element of togetherness,

even in times of sorrow - which then translates into societies with very good human values. Blue Skywalkers was formed in August 2017 and has by far attracted hundreds of workers from all corners of the country as well as from neighbouring countries. The team had conducted team building tours to the following places; Golden Gate National Park at Clarens in FREE STATE; Forever Resorts at Bela Bela in LIMPOPO; Rustenburg Kloof Holiday Resort in Rustenburg, NORTH WEST; Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village in Thaba Bosiu, LESOTHO; Derdepoort Resort in Pretoria, GAUTENG. The forthcoming three tours of the year will be to Kimberly, Witbank and Botswana. On Saturday, 07th September 2019 the team will be having official launch of Free State Provincial Structure at Bohlokong near Bethlehem. During this event a Provincial Committee of Blue Skywalkers will be formulated to look after the affairs of team members across Free State Province. AfriForum-takke sal ook druk op owerhede in hul gebiede plaas om afvalmoniteringskomitees te stig om die afvalbestuursproses te verbeter. Dié komitees sal bestaan uit munisipaliteite en belanghebbende partye wat vullisbestuur in die betrokke dorp wil verbeter. Die ouditverslag sal ook aan die Groen Skerpioene oorhandig word vir verdere ondersoek en optrede teen skuldige munisipaliteite. AfriForum sal die proses deurlopend moniteer om te verseker dat vullisterreine op peil gebring word. So het die vullisterreine in die Vrystaat gevaar: Bethlehem
BETHLEHEM: AfriForum het vanjaar 127 vullisterreine in al nege provinsies geoudit as deel van hul nasionale projek om die gehalte van vullisterreine in Suid-Afrika te meet. Geen vullisterrein uit 20 vullisterreine wat in die Vrystaat geoudit is, het aan die nasionale standaarde voldoen nie. Kragtens toepaslike wetgewing en regulasies, waaronder die Wet op Nasionale Omgewingsbestuur: Vullis, 2008 (wetno. 59 van 2008), moet ’n vullisterrein aan bepaalde vereistes voldoen. Die oudit bestaan uit ’n lys van 33 vrae wat die minimum vereistes vir vullisterreine in Suid-Afrika meet en sluit faktore soos toegangsbeheer, brande, mediese afval, omheining en rehabilitasie in. ’n Vullisterrein moet minstens 80% behaal om aan wetgewing te voldoen. Volgens Jp Nel, AfriForum se assistentkoördineerder vir die Hoogland-streek, is die meeste vullisterreine in die Vrystaat in ’n haglike toestand. “Al die vullisterreine wat geoudit is, is in ’n slegte toestand – slegs een vullisterrein het meer as 50% behaal. Dit kan hoofsaaklik toegeskryf word aan swak bestuur deur die munisipaliteite en regulasies en wette wat nie toegepas word nie. In sommige gevalle is daar terreine wat geensins in stand gehou word nie en waar vullis vir
